This was my first visit to the Long Beach Terrace Theater to see Joe Satriani and Steve Vai touring together as the SatchVai band. The venue has its own multi-story parking lot which is very easy to access, and only charges $15. We arrived thirty minutes before the show, and there was no line to enter the parking lot with many parking spaces available. After a very short walk across the garage and going up a one-story staircase (there is also an elevator), we were on the ground level with the theater. Unfortunately, you have to walk all the way around the large fountain area to reach the security checkpoint and entrance. There was no line and we passed through quickly. Luckily, after the show, you could walk directly to the garage without having to go around again. The theater seats around 3,000 people and has floor, loge, and balcony sections. It is very clean and has a modern feel. The main lobby is spacious and has high ceilings. There are bars on all levels, and some basic food items downstairs. There were also a few food and drink spots in front outside. The concert hall has very high ceilings and is also very modern. We sat on the floor in the second row. The seats were padded and comfortable, and the spacing between adjacent seats and between rows was good. The view of the performers was amazing. There was a large projection screen behind the stage, with various video playing throughout the show. There was some fog on the stage, and the lighting was good, but nothing exceptional. Sitting so close is great for pictures and videos, and you're oblivious to the other 2,900 people in the theater. It almost feels like you're getting a private performance. However, the sound can be hit or miss depending on the performers' preferences and venue's audio setup. The main speaker arrays here hang directly over the first few rows in front of the stage. For the opening band, we couldn't hear any of the guitars at all. Joe played almost completely through his on-stage amps only and the sound was perfect. Steve's mix was half through his amps and half through the main speaker arrays. We could hear his guitar, but not nearly as well as Joe's. It's not the venues fault, the sound is usually optimized for the majority of the theater, and the first few rows may suffer. The opening band was Animals As Leaders. I've seen them a few times over the years as an opener for Steve Vai. They are an instrumental guitar focused band with the unique characteristic that both guitarists use eight-string guitars which gives them a unique sound. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai started out the main show together. They are two of the greatest rock guitar legends to ever play. They played a few original songs together that they co-wrote, followed by both individual and joint performances of a dozen of their popular songs. Steve's unique three-neck Hydra guitar made an appearance. There was also an encore with cover versions of Rock and Roll and Born to be Wild. I've seen Joe 25 times and Steve seven times, and I'll continue to go to every show when they are in town. In between the opening band and the main show, we immediately went to use the ground level restrooms which are downstairs. The lines were already extremely long. On a whim, we went upstairs and the restrooms on both sides initially had very short lines. After only five minutes, the upstairs lines also started to get long. Go upstairs fast and you should have a much shorter wait. The show was great and I really liked the venue. It's modern, clean, and comfortable, with various amenities. The sound mix was a mixed bag sitting in front, but it wasn't the venue's fault. If you want the best chance of a good sound mix, don't sit up front. Parking was very convenient and very affordable. I would definitely come see a show here again. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. read more

I attended the long beach grand prix performance concert which Lupe FIASCo performed on Friday 04.17.2026 @6:30pmsh. It was an outside concert. The thing that stood out was the nice courtyard decor of water fountains. The vibe radiated as the fountains were sparkling, giving the ambiance of a fresh cool entertainment settimg. The outside really looks cool at night because of the lighting structure. I have been here many times before. Experiencing both indoor and outdoor venue entertainment. Just to name a few.. Jokoy, air supply, 90s old school R&B funk jam , Franki Valli and the list goes on. Its not very big inside, in comparison to Crypto or the inglewood forum but it does its job. Stadium seating could use some work if they decide to remodel in the future. Its a clean place with great acoustics. The only negative thing I have to say is the sale of alcoholic beverages! The venue shuts down completely early. Like 9pmsh! Unacceptable for an entertainment venue. I recommend watching concerts or any type of events in this area. Plenty of parking in the parking structure and surrounding businesses nearby. Long Beach is beautiful. read more

Second time coming here to see a show: this time it was the Satchvai Band (Joe Satriani and Steve Vai co-fronting) for one night in LB. It was a great show, The theater is within walking distance of our home, so took the leisurely stroll there, enjoying the LB ocean breezes on Ocean Blvd. We still got there early, with people in line to go through security. At exactly 18:30, the line started to move. We knew better to bring a bag, so we got through quickly. Inside the secured outdoor courtyard, there were a few food stalls, serving Tacos, hot dogs, churros, and brews/coffee along with an outdoor pizza oven making single-size Neapolitan style pizza (though the pizzas on display didn't look that great). My wife just wanted popcorn, so got a small box for $10. Not much was happening in the courtyard, so decided to go inside. Then something happened that has never happened to me before. It seems all concerts tickets now go through the Ticketmaster app. When I tried to scan it however, it got a warning saying that I needed to go the box office (the ticket taker seemed confused too). I had bought the tickets directly from the promoter, so didn't know what was going on. When I approached the box office, the attendant just asked me how many tickets I had, and then just gave me two paper ones, floor seats. My first thought was that they must be wanting to consolidate to present a more packed audience. Wasn't given any choice, so took the tickets and was able to scan into the building. Not much to do inside (except to buy merch or order from the bar) so once they opened the seating at 19:00, went in. There were attendants to guide you to the right entrance, but finding the actual seats were on your own. Our seats were in the Orchestra Left, close to the very end (seat 54) but row 6...these were good seats (and later found out that Joe likes to play very close to the left corner, letting us capture every facial expression as he played). The theater was about half full, and once the show began, people began to move all around looking for better seats. I've learned that in California, people do not rise from their seat when somebody needs to get by...but after getting my feet stepped on, decided to stand up whenever someone needed to pass (and it happened A LOT, even after the start). The show was slated to start at 19:30, and sure enough, around that time, the opening act began to play. 'Animals as Leaders' (fusion, progressive metal band) played for about 50 minutes, and quite a few of the audience knew their songs. There was a 20 minute intermission, and Joe/Steve with their band came out to play around 20:40. They played a lof of their classics, including songs I knew from Joe's 1987 album 'Surfing with the Alien' and Steve Vai's 'Tender Surrender' along with his three-neck guitar. I LOVED the interplay between them when they were both on stay....they have been good friends for a very long time and it really showed on stage. The show continued for almost 2 hours. The videos and lightshow was minimal...it was all about their music. They played two more songs for their encore, and both were covers (with vocals this time): Zeppelin's 'Rock and Roll' and Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild'. With vocals, this got the audience up on their feet to sing along (which is why I guess they do it). read more

I had the privilege of coming to the theater with my team from work for a lecture in the Distinguished Speakers series. Not only is this performing arts center a beautiful place from the enormous dancing fountain - which is lit in all colors at night, but the interior is gorgeous, too! The seats and vantage points are arguably more comfortable and visible than say Segerstrom in OC, and I was impressed with how subtle the lighting and acoustics were as well. I would definitely love the opportunity to return, perhaps for one of the Shen Yun ballet performances or Nutcracker during the holidays. While I cannot speak to the parking situation per se as I actually live within walking distance, I know there is a large structure to the east of the entrance and street parking. Adjacent to the Breakers hotel, the theater is within walking distance to the many restaurants on Pine Ave. and the Pike outlets and Long Beach Aquarium. read more

Very nice theater located next to the convention center. Parking was easy and was $15 for the day. The security line moved quickly though I was surprised at how strict they were with the bags. The guy used a piece of paper to measure out my bag which barely passed. There were a few bars once you enter to get drinks and you could also buy some merch. There were a lot of bathrooms which was good so the wait time wasn't too bad. The show started 30 minutes late which was what I expected. Once it started, everything seemed to move on schedule. The acoustics were good and we had a good view of the stage. Overall enjoyed it and would come here again. read more

We came to the theatre to see George Lopez, there's spacious parking that's walking distance to the theatre that was convenient. The entrance process was efficient, secure, and there was plenty of security to help with the process. The theatre is esthetically pleasant, with various food trucks, bars, and easy access restrooms. We've been following the Beach Boys around SoCal for several years now and they played at this location on a sunny summer Sunday. The parking lot next door charges 15 dollars for the whole day. The theater is nice outside and inside but they have nasty carpet laid out. The sound was very good and I enjoyed our seats even though they were in the balcony section. A bar is available outside and inside in case you didn't pre-plan and drink before going in. read more

The building is beautiful and clean and the restrooms were clean as well. I loved how they had a water filling station and there was live music and food trucks and food vendors outside of the venue before the show started. Came to this venue for the first time with my sister to watch, Come Far Away (fortunate to have watch this 2-night showing of this wonderful production). NOTE: My review is soley based on the venue. Located in DTLB beside neighboring business such as, Aquarium of the Pacific, LB Convention Center, and the Fairmont Breakers Hotel just to name a few. We prepaid for parking online and had no problem finding the structure, which was just a short walk to the theater. Beautiful fascade with colorful lighting to showcase the building and the dancing water fountain outside, which gave off a low scale Bellagio (Vegas) vibe, sans background music of course, pretty cool nonetheless. Great security staff as we entered, but we did see a few transients outside. The main lobby was multi-leveled, open and airy. Their auditorium was clean and definitely spacious. The stage had plenty of room to accommodate the set design, cast, and live band. The acoustics were wonderful. Their bathrooms were clean, but I wasn't sure if there were more restrooms located somewhere else within venue. Funny seeing the long line coming from both the women's and the men's joining as one. Plus points for having more than one cocktail station though! LOL. All in all, my sister and I enjoyed this venue. We would definitely come back to watch future shows. Till next time... read more

I loved the show. Come From Away was great, as was the company. The theater however left much to be desired. It felt too big. Once the show started they let people in... Multiple rows in front of us were sat all the way in the middle with empty side seats. It seemed a nuisance to seat people after the show has started. Then, directly in front of us... a woman texted the entire first song and 5-7 minutes of the show communicating with someone else in the theater. She finally got up and never came back...theater etiquette?!? Other than that the show was great. We might be back to see Book of Mormon but might spring for closer seats. It feels like a huge auditorium. This show was much better on Broadway in a small theater. But I'm happy to still be able to see this heartfelt show. read more

Tuesday night was a magical evening and everyone and everything who we encountered in their various functions as theater employees (Gin and Evan to name just two) helped make it so. Many who arrived at the theater Tuesday we're hopeful and eager, but somewhat doubtful that the performance could take place and not totally certain that it would. Paul Simon had canceled two recent performances and had back surgery. Monday night had cancelled and postponed to Tuesday. We arrived wondering. Yes, it was happening! Now the eighty-three year old Mr, Simon began singing a bit weak as one might expect but the strength of his voice grew and grew as he sang. People were clearly aware of this. The theme of slip sliding away, and homeward bound is something else now than it is many years a staple of our American scene. The stage seemed to envelop the audience. The musicians played from the heaven of which Mr. Simon sang. It was a stunning unity. I expected to see the majority of the audience comprised of those who had experienced those same decades. No, there were many of all ages young and not as. This was a different Paul Simon, a new Paul Simon, and the same Paul Simon. He gave us four encores, with early leavers scrambling back to their seats. at the end of which his vigor was palpable and the audience putty in his hands. It felt like an exhilarating piece of history. Were he a younger man, it would be a great show. But would it be as ethereal? read more

Catching the tail end of the 2024/25 symphony season, we attended the Musical Fusion with Arturo Sandoval on Sat Mar 8th (2025). The night opened with Adam Schoenberg (an Occidental College professor in the composition and film scoring programs) "Cool Cat", which was inspired by LA's favorite and most famous mountain lion, P-22. Arturo Sandoval was hilarious and his music... soul moving. Lastly, I found the conductor Eckart Preu very engaging and approachable. He really connects withe audience. Sound was perfect and no issues hearing conversations, aside from the music. Parking was only $15 (not $20 as advertised), but a little hard to find. Collins Way is really tiny and no light on the sign. Enter eastbound on Ocean, and turn right just after The Breakers Hotel. read more

I paid more for my tickets to be front row and was actually 4th very miss leading they have row a,b,c not showing on the seating charts. The show itself was so very entertaining and well casted. I'm just a bit disappointed that buying a single beer and two shots came out to a whopping $70. I finally can check Shen Yun off my bucket list now, I had the opportunity to see this breathtaking authentic Classical Chinese dance, music and storytelling performances. Shen Yun name meaning is the divine beauty, Inter feeling in dance and movements. This classical Chinese performances started in NYC in 2006 and it was banned from China in 1990 because of the religous movemont, they put on a amazing show that deal with the ancient Chinese culture, the dancing, acting, songs, dialogus, colorful costumesand the music is all awesome, they all put on one hell of a show, I love it from the beginning to the end, they are very strict about the audience taking pictures, or videoing, there are ushers holding signs not to do it. I would love to see this again and I'm too. read more

I attended Ali Wong's stand-up show at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach last Friday. The show was a blast. There were signs stating that no cell phones were allowed to be recording or photographing inside the theater. When we arrived, we were directed to park in the convention center parking lot which was $15 per car. We quickly made our way to the C level and walked over the bridge to the theater and directed around to where they set up the metal detectors and security checks. We arrived at 6:30 before the 7:00 pm show. There were two food trucks parked in the plaza outside the entrance to the theater. There was also a bar outside but we were also told that there were 14 bars inside the theater too. I did not see any food options inside other than pretzels so I was safe to order food from the food trucks. We got our food and chowed down before entering the theater. We actually had a chance to use the ladies' room too. By the time we took a quick pick in the lobby, it was time for Ali to take the stage. We got in just in time as she was starting her set. The show was great and we exited the theater shortly after her set. read more

Shen Yun?! Yes, please! I always said that if they're ever in town, I would love to take the opportunity to go see as I heard so many good things about it. Opportunity knocked. I took it, and this is how I ended up here. I'm not really familiar with this area, so I took the time to research: how much time it'll take to get here from home, parking (this is REALLY important), prepped for contingencies (it was a rainy SoCal weekend), etc... I planned ahead so I didn't miss any part of the show. Funny enough, I planned it so well, my friend and I got here a little too early. But no biggie: this gave me the chance to take it all in. What a beautiful structure from the outside and even more so once inside. There were plenty of informational displays and booths regarding the show. Same for snacks and drinks (nothing big, pretzels, chips, soda and the like.) Great views of the general area on all corners. This is a well thought out building! The main hall's appearance was nothing to call home about, but the acoustics were excellent! The orchestra was strategically placed and the music coming from them was almost breathtaking. (Parking is $15 - YAY! And it's covered, so rain wasn't that much of an issue.) The one downside: bathrooms. They're not enough. The lines were so long with not enough stalls. I almost missed the 2nd part of the show. The other downside: the show itself. Maybe because I didn't read up on it enough that I may not have had sufficient information to appreciate it. I guess I expected more acrobatics? Or just MORE - because after 3 or 4 dance routines, the ones that followed were pretty much similar to what we'd already seen. The costumes, however, were incredibly impressive. They spared no expense on that part of the show. TIP: Pre-pay parking tickets online. This will at least secure you a spot. The $2 fee will be worth it! I'm glad of the experience. I now know what to expect should I ever find myself up in here again for any reason. read more

We had never been to the venue but were excited to see Book of Mormon this past Sunday. Unfortunatly, the audio was mixed very poorly and thus we couldn't hear or understand a large amount of the dialogue. This was consistant with all the least actors mics and whenever music soundtrack played much of their vocal was drown out. What a bummer. read more

Parking is terrible, but worse is the facilities, only a handful of restrooms for hundreds of people, also the access from parking is via 1 elevator. Yiu can imaging what that's like once play or show is over. read more

Leaving 2 stars only because this is not a complaint about the theatre itself but the company that handles tickets, Gotickets. I ordered tickets for the Long Beach Symphony and received an email with header confirmation and a link to my tickets. The link led me to tickets to The Vampires vs Zombies event. No mention of the tickets I actually bought. I did a live chat and tried to communicate but was not very successful. In the future I will go to the box office if it's something I really want to attend. Good luck to all who have to use their ticket vendor!! read more

Very poor seating layout, only the two outside aisles requiring you to climb over 40 people if you are in the center. Also inadequate restroom capacity for the size of theater with huge lines for the ladies room. Parking was across the street with poor signage to find our way in as first timers there. read more

Came here to see Chelsea Handler. The parking garage is $15. It's expensive but at least it's a convenient place to park. It's super close to the venue. There's a lot of parking spots and the spots are pretty big. I also liked how easy it was to exit the parking garage. We were able to get through security fast. They even directed us towards shorter lines. There were food trucks outside and a couple of bars. Inside, there are also lots of bars so you don't have to wait in a giant line. You can look for one with a shorter line. The theater is a little hard to navigate but luckily the security was helpful. The theater is very big. There's 2 balconies. I recommend splurging the money to sit anywhere in the Orchestra section. Overall, the theater was decent. I wouldn't be able to tell you if the acoustics are good since I just saw a comedy show but don't let this venue deter you from an event. read more

I attended Woodz's world tour concert LA stop here. This was my first time at this venue, and I could only assume this was more of a theater (as in for musicals/plays) than a concert venue. The outdoor area in front of the actual building was beautiful with all of the holiday lights. They also had little heaters scattered around which were being well-used before doors opened. In the outdoor area they had picnic tables, a live dj, and food trucks. The food truck prices were overpriced, but the only food option inside were pretzels, popcorn, and chips. They opened doors on-time and the staff seemed to very well aware of what was going on event-wise and was able to well control the crowd. Inside, it looked like any seat was a good seat. I was seated in the very first row. For a concert, where everyone is standing, this is obviously an excellent seat. If this were for anything else, as in a show where you'd be sitting, I'd want to be seated at least 2-3 rows further back as the stage was somewhat tall from a sitting view. You'd definitely be looking up a little. read more

My friend and I enjoyed seeing Shen Yun here yesterday. It was both of our first times coming here. Minus the fact that I couldn't access my phone to make any adjustments to my hearing aid. Since, phones need to be turned off during performance. I do have premium hearing aid, so I can adjust volume up and down on the hearing aid itself, but the additional settings to soften or sharpen are on my phone. Next time, I'll ask before performance if I can get special treatment, so I can enjoy the performance sound wise better. I was getting a lot of feedback from the speakers where we were sitting in last row of the Loge Section. Other than that, the performance was wonderful. Other than that, my friend and I were disappointed with the daytime offerings for vegan food options. All we were able to get was fruit. The show was 1-3:30, and listed more vegan options online. We drove from LA, and didn't have time to eat lunch or brunch beforehand. We just planned on eating something for lunch there, and the dinner after the fact. We were quite hungry during and then after the performance. We learned after we were there, no food trucks, and less vegan food options are offered during the day time. So, now we know to plan ahead and eat before or after performance. I don't think it's fair though, they should at least offer the vegan salad during the day. We shouldn't have to go hungry. Otherwise, it's false advertising. But, we enjoyed our dinner or rather lunch/dinner at SURA Korean BBQ & Tofu, 20min walk from the theater. And, luckily they were open when we got out, so we could head over there and eat early. The theater is okay to look at with fountains, but prettier in the evening when it is lit up, when we were walking back to our car after our lunch/dinner. read more

The outside experience was nice....., beautiful on the outside but inside the theater, OMG don't go - save your money. The seats are so low and old. They're not staggered. All I could see was a back of a head of person in front of me and everybody around me said the same thing . I went everywhere to try a few seats in different locations in case I wanna go back sometime, but there's no way , they were all bad. Don't go see Shen Yun there, don't go see anything there - totally disappointing and if it's a big event like mine was supposed to be last night your guests will definitely be underwhelmed and people that you love deserve better too. I couldn't hear anything, acoustics are terrible. At one point it got hot which reminds you just how old and musty this place is on the inside . Just a bad theater. They need to rip the whole inside out and redo it. It is awful. Beautiful on the outside though, Took some great pictures out by the water in front. Also, towards the end, there were firetrucks everywhere and paramedics were rushing up to the top floor where we were exiting. There was no one up there and we were just looking around so got the feeling it might have something to do with the building which was scary. Nobody explained to us why they were there or told us not to be alarmed. That was just a side-note. The worst thing about this place you can't see or hear your show. It's an old old old theater and it was a very expensive night for me which I definitely wanted to lavish on my family since we don't do this with extended family very often..... we all had to travel from different locations to go there, and I was embarrassed. I didn't wanna give a bad review of Shen Yun because I was annoyed at the theater, but my experience was not worth the money- pretty much even if it was Free. I was frustrated during the whole performance because I couldn't see the middle of the stage only a big head in front of me (and she was really just a petite female ). and I couldn't hear it. I had invited guests. They were experiencing the same even though they were saying it was nice, but it was not a good experience at the Terrace theater and we were planning on that for a month so it was a big deal and I'm so upset that for less we could've had a better experience somewhere else I'm sure. And really when it came down to it a lot of the times I felt like I was watching a very corny show and it was tacky until I realized there was an orchestra in front which brought up the level for me. It made it a better experience, but it was pretty tacky and corny actually something that shouldn't be considered a world class religious experience show because it's not a couple of them are very outstanding performers. Actually, most of them all are but still the whole thing was not up to par with the commercials that advertise for it. read more

Came here to see Paw Patrol Live! Getting into the parking structure was a bit of a nightmare, but they also had an event going on at the Convention Center so that may have backed things up. The passenger and kid had to get out down the street and walk to the theater to make the show on time. The seating is pretty good anywhere you sit, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. They needed more concession stands or maybe more workers. To get our popcorn we waited in line for about 45 min (not during intermission time), so we missed a good chunk of the show. This is the least patron friendly venue you can imagine. They forced the audience to walk around the building for crowd control, which might be ok if it weren't in the middle of a thunderstorm storm. But today it was pouring outside and there was no consideration for the guests who were forced to go through a labyrinth, in the rain, to get inside. Thanks. I am sure I will enjoy my experience sitting in wet clothes next to other people who also are dripping wet. read more

God awful acoustics. Came here to see a show, left just over an hour in, didn't even wait to see the main act. There was no point, we only could catch 1/2 of what was being said, at best. read more

Came here yesterday for the Chelsea Handler: Vaccinated and Horny tour. It was easy to find the place on Google Maps. The parking garage had plenty of space. The parking attendant was nice and helpful. We parked on the second floor which was ideal because it took us right to the staircase to go up to the theater. It's $15 for parking. Apparently you can also park by meter because it's free at or after 9pm but we just paid for convenience and lack of knowledge at the time. Caught a glimpse of the Pacific Ballroom which was beautiful on the outside. Blue and purple mood lights inside with the fixtures on the ceiling. The lobby and the steps are nice. Felt like I was in a proper theater. The seats were comfy at first but then by the midpoint of the show I was squirming trying to get comfortable. Felt like the back of the chair was stiff and hard on my back. Good to experience a show in person again. Didn't miss being clumped together with a horde of people though. read more

Went to see Air Supply last night, the show was fantastic, but I have some issues with the venue. So you're having a concert event on a Saturday night and the women's restrooms on the main floor are broken? Seriously? Unacceptable. Also, please note that this is a theater better suited to seeing musicals or speakers, etc. Because you're basically going to be required to sit there for the whole show. If you go to see a concert, and you try to stand up People are gonna yell at you. Which I think is really ridiculous. If they wanted to sit down, then they should've stayed home and watch Netflix. read more
