I have been here on 3 occasions: for a bridal shower and for 2 murder mystery dinners, so I can't really comment on just coming in for a regular sit-down meal. However, on the occasions that I have been to the Lamplighter, I found it to be fine. Just fine. Not great, but not terrible either. My two most recent experiences were for the murder mystery dinners, which are always a good time! Food and drinks consist of free water, coffee, and iced tea (I believe). Cash bar. Meal is buffet style, with a decent selection of meats, salad, veggies, and sides. I would say the biggest thing that the experiences lacked was service. Takes forever for someone to come clear your plates, no one asks if you need anything else, etc. It's sort of a 'help yourself' kind of atmosphere. However, we're surprising my mom for her birthday and going again this weekend, so that must say something! read more

We went to the Lamplighter for a fundraiser in the banquet room. I had been here for at least two other events, one a wedding and it's a pretty decent location and facility. The food is good and honestly if you live in this area and shop for large locations at this price per plate....you can't beat it. A good match for the fundraiser we were involved with. I have supplied a picture of my plate. A decent mushroom chicken, beef tips, mixed veggies and a creamy pasta dish. There was a tossed salad, they also had 3 cold sides and a cheese tray. The desert table was good with various pies and cakes. Again I rated it a 3 and that sums up what you should expect. read more

I started coming to the monthly wine dinner events about three years ago now and I eagerly anticipate it with my mother each month. What's not to love about a specially crafted menu featuring 4-5 courses paired with hand-selected wine (and beer) choices? Every month has a different "theme" depending on the time of year or current events, so the menu is designed to reflect that. Service and atmosphere is excellent, and I truly feel welcome here by all of the staff. They make everything in-house, including the fantastic desserts, and we are frequently treated to fresh produce from the owners' gardens in seasonal dishes! If you can't make it to a wine dinner, you will at least find the regular dining options to be equally satisfying. We moved to Delmont in Aug. tried this place finally. The breakfast food was good and the service was great, too!

I went here about 2 years ago and haven't been back since. Here's everything that was wrong with our visit: the staff was nice enough but the service was painfully slow and the food just wasn't very good. I had to use the restroom and ended up getting lost in the restaurant because there's like four different rooms in it. Luckily I was able to find the restroom but the stairs to the restroom where nasty. The food ended up being really expensive and it just wasn't worth it. I don't recommend. read more

The food was decent, reasonably priced well seasoned, but two of the scallops were fishy tasting, obviously frozen not fresh. Placed smelled like pet urine when you walk in. Maybe mold or just old carpet and fabrics. read more

I've tried this place twice now...once back in 2012 and again recently. The first time I went I was unimpressed. But my husband enjoyed his prime rib. We went again a few months ago on a Sunday evening. We had missed the buffet, so we ordered from the menu. They were out of prime rib, so my Husband got a steak that he said was ok. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. It was about as good as a michelina's one dollar frozen entree. It had no flavor and the sauce was watery. The chicken in it looked so awful, I didn't eat it. My first time at the Lamplighter Restaurant and my last time. The milk shake was so thin you could drink it through a plastic stirrer. The "mashed" potatoes were at best powdered potatoes and someone forgot to add water to the mix and mash them. The turkey sandwich was luke warm and salty. The nicest part of the meal was the very nice server who kept apologizing for such a horrible meal. She was even able to get "someone in the back" to offer a piece of free pie. Really? No thanks. The cashier as she took our money and asked how was everything when I said horrible, she focused right on my husband who was paying the bill. I think she already knew how it was. Went with the future H for a Dinner Mystery Theater one Friday night. The food, I believe was off their catering menu as it was served buffet style so that is what I am reviewing. Now me and the Mr. really enjoyed the show and will probably come back to Lamplighter to see another one. The food was kind of meh, though not surprising as buffet food never seems to excite me much. I really did enjoy the roast beef and the fish was actually pretty good. The chicken Romano was dry (it had no marinara on it) and the veggies were just drowning in butter. Not so good. Probably the thing I disliked the most was the salad. it was just huge chunks of iceberg lettuce and you could add like 3 toppings or so if you liked. Why didn't they actually chop the gargantuan pieces of lettuce is a mystery all in it's own. Well I went back for seconds on the beef and the Mr. really liked the pasta, so we each found something that pleased us, and the show was quite enjoyable and I recommend coming here to see one. read more

Some of the worst food I've ever tasted! I cannot, for the life of me, understand how this place got good reviews. First, I'll start with the place. We were there on a Thu night, and the place is divided in 2. A 'Nice, Upscale' area (in quotes, because the decor looked like it hasn't changed in 40 years), and a 'cafe' area that looked like a Waffle House. The 'upscale' area was closed so we had no choice than to go with the cafe area. Closed on a Thu night? That already made no sense and should have been our first warning. Came there with family. We had 10 people which seemed to confuse them greatly, even though there was only a couple of other tables occupied. Definitely not busy, which should have been second warning. The place looked about as clean as you would expect it to be from the looks of it. In other words, a good cleaning would not hurt. Based on the waitress's recommendation, I ordered their 'Famous Devonshire' with their the special cheeses sauce and French Onion bowl. Someone else ordered a French onion cup. The cup didn't have any cheese, but the bowl did. Seriously? Why call it French Onion cup if it has no cheese. It's just Onion soup. This was, by far, one of the worst dish I have ever had. The special cheese sauce is melted American sliced cheese mixed so not to be able to tell it was sliced cheese (at least, that's my educated guess, as it's exactly what it tasted like), the bread was so hard I had a hard time cutting it with a knife, and the meet was bone dry, even under all of this 'special sauce'. Others ordered a cheeseburger, which was the size of a Mc Donald's kids size cheeseburger, meat looked like it had been in the freezer for way too long before getting to the plate, while a regular grilled cheese was huge, but also tasted suspect at best. The Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich was the best of the bunch, but when I say best, it doesn't mean it was great. Just passable. All of this after we waited for an hour to even get our food! The only positive was the waitress who was very nice and removed the sandwich from my bill without me asking, and was very helpful and polite. Went to Kings Family restaurant the next day for much better food only half a mile away. Just a suggestion. read more

Not good. I've been to the Lamp lighter about ten times over the years... Every time i really wanted it to be good. Unfortunately, they let me down every single time. Won't be back. Food quality sub par. Wouldn't call the place clean... Wife saw waiter clean up table, and simply flip tablecloth from one side to the other.... Crumbs flying! PS... Don't go for brunch either.... You will not go home hungry if you visit their breakfast buffet. Not sure if it is 7 days a week, weekends or just on Sunday's (When I went). We attended a fundraiser last night in the Lamplighter ballroom. Our ticket included a buffet dinner, soft drinks, beer, wine and coffee. Overall, the buffet was very nice but because this was a fundraiser, the menu was not extravagant . The highlights were: Fresh fruit salad-sweet melons, pineapples, etc. very good quality considering it is November. Penne marinara-very nice sauce. Ham-carved on the line. Vegetable medley featured all fresh veggies-cooked perfectly. Fresh baked bread-tasted better than homemade. Assorted baked cakes, fruit and cream pies, Boston cream pie. Tasted homemade! Items that were just so-so: Baked chicken was a bit dry. Potato salad-nothing special The waitresses and bartender were outstanding. Friendly and efficient. The facilities could use some updating. The ladies room was very small-tightly spaced. Despite the few opportunities to improve, we will return to try the restaurant based on the great baked goods and lovely service. read more

I've been to the bar area a few times and while it has a nice layout and potential, it just doesn't get a lively crowd or have a good beer selection. The service was the only good thing about this place. Was told they didn't have prime rib so I ordered a strip steak medium rare. The steak came out medium well. I said I would like another one and she said that was their way of doing medium rare.She took the steak back then came back and said they did have prime rib so I said I would have that providing I could get it rare. She sets the plate down with a brown peice of meat on it. She saw that it wasnt right and called the manager over.Had them take it off the bill..no meal for me. My wife had the chicken parm, which she said was probably one of the worst shes ever had. One and only trip to this place. Excellent family owned and operated restaurant with friendly service. The coffee shop has an old gained dinner feel, which is completely absent from the generic chains. the breakfast menu has a wide selection with well made omelettes accompanied -ask for yours with homemade rye bread and the bold roast coffee. The price less than expected for a full breakfast, so I gave to rate the value as exceptional. read more

My husband and myself were looking forward to seeing Chuck Corby. I made reservations. We arrived and were promptly seated and given menus. Our meal came quickly. But we soon needed drink refills. Our waitress served every table around us. She would not make eye contact with us. THe music was too loud to get her attention. She came near our table at least 8 times taking care of the tables surrounding us! We finally had enough and got her attention finally and asked for our bill. We had wanted desert but that wasn't happening! It took another 15 minutes to get our bill. Covid 19 happened shortly after this. I emails The Lamplighter several times telling them of our experience. My emails were never returned! Finally I called and talked to Debbie. She took my email address (not phone number!) and said she wold give it to Andrew. Nothing!! I called again and once again she said Andrew would email me. He did finally! Our server was super nice, and it was an overall great experience. We sat in the coffee shop side and the music wasn't too loud, and the booths were comfortable. All of the food was amazing, and clearly homemade. The steak was delicious and melts in your mouth, and the lobster Mac and cheese was huge, and to die for. Everything is very fair priced and comes with two sides! Soup and salad were options for sides, without upcharge! Had plenty of food to take home, as well as some fresh baked donuts for only $.59 each! (Only sold on Sundays) Overall, this was a wonderful experience and the food was delicious, it's worth the drive! read more

The Lamplighter has been around longer than I've been alive --my family celebrated my baptism there And several other milestones and celebrations. I'm nearly 40 now and live out of state. I was seeking a nice meal to send to my parents for Christmas Eve dinner since we are apart this holiday. The Lamplighter has been selling delicious meals for takeout through COVID-19 but graciously offered to personally deliver the order to my parents while one was home recovering from surgery. There aren't many diners in the Greensburg area, so I'm willing to drive 15 minutes to Delmont for a classic diner breakfast. I realize that this place is probably a staple to this little town, but what a sad staple it is. It's filthy dirty. The carpets are black, the bathrooms are in the basement, the walls are dingy and the food says just as much. I am shocked anyone comes here by choice. I have eaten here and their breakfast sausage is big, excellent and obviously homemade. Considering the crowds they get down the road at that Diner place this must be the unsung hero of the area for breakfast. Everything tastes great and is perfectly cooked. However the $2 plate sharing charge, if they actually charge it, is a poor business decision in my book. Most places serve way too much food in my opinion and offer no options for lighter/smaller portions. It is to their advantage to have as many people as possible to taste as many entrees as possible. I was quite satisfied with my experience at The Lamplighter. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. After a long day of work, in the spring snowstorms, I sat at the bar and enjoyed a very fair priced cocktail prior to receiving my meal. I've been to the Lampligher on three different occasions and the food has varied from very good to below average. My first experience at the Lampligher was at a Professional Meeting held in one of the banquet rooms. The meal consisted of steak, salad, potatoes and some other side dishes. Each was prepared perfectly and the service was excellent. My second experience was a sit down dinner with my grandmother. Although the service was excellent, the food was average. Recently, I was at the Lamplighter for their Sunday Buffet and was very disappointed. The salad bar was meager and the hot foods were either over cooked or sat too long in the heating trays. The only exception to this was the prime rib, which was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The highlight of the meal was the desserts. The Lampligher has excellent pies. read more

We ate here for the Mother's Day buffet. The food was just OK. They seemed to keep the one room stocked with food while the other was left with less. Some of the desserts were pretty lousy with very little flavor. The worst aspect was the service. In our 90 minute stay, our drinks were never refilled and nobody was offered coffee for dessert. Overall a disappointing visit. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt though and say it was the special occasion that was probably the reason. I've heard the food and service are usually better. I'm certain I will give them a try again but for Mother's Day it was disappointing. read more

Love this place! From Michigan, in town for work staying at hotel up the hill. We travel quite a bit and enjoyed the old school menu. It's like eating dinner with your parents back in the 80's. We ate in the Diner, lots of options and the Prime Rib is super. Staff is very sweet and accommodating. Our 2.5 year old son was happy too as they have a bookshelf of stuff for kids (books, coloring books, puzzles, crayons, etc). Biggest bonus is that it's very cheap. read more
