Well, we were excited to eat here at the start of our trip but found ourselves disappointed. We were staying in Waterville and wanted to do a night out to eat. After doing some research, we found The Landing and were sold immediately! A tiki bar? Broasted chicken? Pretzel bites? All great things. However, when we arrived the menu they had was not the same as what was listed on their website even though we were seemingly still able to complete an online order for those items. The menu on the inside of the restaurant seemed to be the same thing so we don't think it was because we were sitting outside. If that was the case, we weren't provide with that information or the option to sit inside since the hostess stand was outside. I ended up ordering the Monte Cristo, which was really good, but the portion sizes of my friends' food left something to be desired. Additionally, even though they seemed to have plenty of staff and weren't super busy, our service was lacking. I never got a refill on my water and our server didn't check back in very often. I don't think I'll be returning if I'm in the area. read more

Unfortunately our girls trip here was not what we were hoping for. We looked at the menu before hand and when we arrived, the items we were most looking forward to were not on the menu. They were still available to order online so it felt like there might be some inaccuracies. Also it is right on the lake, but no view at all. The patio is the parking lot and you look at the marina so bummer we didn't get lake views or the "tiki bar" vibes they advertise. Overall they had a decent crowd felt like the normal dinner crowd but overall we waited awhile for our simple sandwiches. Portions and sides were very small for the price we paid. My siblings and I came to The Landing for breakfast in September based on our AirBnB host's recommendation. We were very disappointed in our meals. The orange juice tasted a bit off like it was out-of-date or spoiled. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet. The cheese was two slices of American cheese melted over the eggs. Didn't look, or taste, flavorful. The sourdough toast was like none I'd ever had; at home or in a restaurant. It was very porous and flavorless. Usually sourdough is very dense and has a distinct flavor, but not this toast. Even the hash browns tasted off. How do you screw up hash browns (rhetorical)! Since we live out-of-state The Landing won't miss our patronage, but maybe others should choose more wisely. read more

2 out of 3 visits this summer (breakfast, lunch, dinner) & the service is painfully slow. Lunch today had 1 server with 5 tables (it was a VERY quiet Mon.) and yet it took almost 15 min. to get our beer & order; and then when we paid he disappeared for another 15 min!! My husband had to finally go inside to see what was what & he saw our bill & credit card just sitting aside on a counter! One elderly man waited so long he finally walked inside & got his own menu! No complaints about the ambience. Only great things to say about our server...communicative, friendly, prompt. My disappointment was entirely with the food. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl. Description: mix of white rice and quinoa, with chicken, roasted red peppers, olives, feta cheese and tzaziki sauce. What came: a coagulated lump of plain, sticky white rice (no quinoa), chicken and sauce. Zero roasted peppers or olives. I didn't complain at the time because our server was a sweetie and I was starving. I ate it, but I could've gotten a Kwik Trip bowl for $5 better than this. I should add it did also come with cucumbers, which were few and sliced as opposed to the description of diced on the menu. read more

The only reason this restaurant got 4 stars and not 5 was because of their menu. It was a very basic menu. Just average food selections. In fact, if I visited here again when I come to town, I'm not even sure what I would order. The atmosphere is what sold us and it was a pleasant dining experience. Madison Lake is close to our home and the Landing is by far the best restaurant in the area. It provides a wide variety of choices. Or maybe I should say a wide variety of good choices. In my experience, no matter what you order it will be good. There JS great seating inside or outside along the lake. Plus it seems apparent that they are good at finding and hiring good people. We always seem to be well taken care of. They can be very busy which challenges the waitresses. So there are times I need to be patient and that is ok by me. read more

From an outsider standpoint (making our way through the area) this is a lovely lake view dining experience. If you eat outside in the patio expect some friendly bees to buzz your table while you leisurely chat and wait for your order. This is a no-hurry restaurant as they prepare each order one group at a time. Enjoy some talk, drinks, and take in the lake side view. Food is solid in flavor, and the chips are house made. Food has an American diner type flavor and feel, but with an upscale lakeside location. Did not eat inside, but it looked nice enough. Restrooms were clean. We used to like this place but the past couple times being there have not been great experience. Had breakfast there today. Took a long time to get our order in and then a long time to get our food. One meal was suppose to have scrambled eggs and they came easy over. Bacon was not cooked long enough. Did not send food back as figured it would take to long to get it back. Last summer did some take out and were not impressed. When doing take out we did a burger with cold slaw. They did not put the cold slaw in a smaller separate container but put it right next to the burger. Needless to say the bun on the burger was soggy. read more
