I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast buffet at the landing. I was hesitant to go down to the landing due to their rating, but with no other breakfast options on site I caved. I'm not saying that I would come here if I wasn't staying on site, but for someone who spends 100 nights or more a year in hotels, I've seen some pretty bad breakfasts... I think I was most surprised by the potatoes that were actually crispy and not soggy like the norm. Eggs, bacon, sausage, variety of breads and muffins and a few juice options filled the void. Service wasn't great, but the hostess did offer me a carafe of coffee. So again, the need was met. If you're staying at the doubletree and want a quiet place to be left alone to eat a quick breakfast before catching a flight or hitting the road, the Landing is a decent option! read more

Not good. It didn't appear busy but over heard the staff mention they were very busy to numerous guests. About 8 at bar and less than half the restaurant filled. Overwhelming smell of pot at entrance and could smell throughout restaurant. It's a "seat yourself place" which works when the staff has clean tables for patrons to sit. Not the case here. After asking 3 times we cleaned a table so we could sit. Took the waiter 15 mins to make initial contact. He was pleasant once he did, but the wait was unnecessarily long. Ordered 2 glasses of wine which we grabbed at bar bc they never arrived. Chicken Caesar Salad and burger was flavorful. Ordered soup too but never received it. When asked, the waiter said they were out and forgot to tell us. So, not great service and ok food. It's a shame as it's the only place to eat in reasonable/late walking distance. The hotel has a relative monopoly on food/drink service and could make it a much better experience w better talent management. read more

Located inside the Hilton Philadelphia Airport, The Landing is the place you're stuck with if you're staying at the hotel and have no transportation. It's not terrible if you're a business traveler familiar with airport restaurants but otherwise if you have a choice, you should choose somewhere else. The staff is so-so. My needs were met but they made me feel like I was eating at Denny's. $25 entrees should mean you get service with a smile. The tables are all too high or the chairs too low. I'm not short and I felt like I was sitting at the kids table. The bread wasn't very good and the butter tasted funny. I ordered a filet mignon and it was mediocre but acceptable. During the week this place will be filled with business travelers, many of whom are alone and seem to enjoy an opportunity to break the "no loud cell phone conversations" unspoken rule at restaurants. I learned about poor Katie who isn't meeting her sales quota and will be fired soon from the loudmouth at the table beside me. The expletives made that projected conversation extra classy. Happy hour near the back of the restaurant was filled with lots of noisy travelers revealing too much as they downed more alcohol. It seems like a bad idea to become inebriated with coworkers and/or clients. I wouldn't choose to go here but if you're stuck and have to go here for a meal, it's acceptable but not desirable, in my opinion. read more

Because I had to stay near the airport at the Philadelphia Hilton this was my only dining option as it is onsite. The staff gave me the impression that they didn't want to be there. Not rude, but kind of indifferent. I have to say that overall it was average. The caesar salad was wilty so I am guessing it was made 12 hours before. The croutons were impossibly huge and they tasted like leftover poundcake (not kidding!). I will upload a picture to make the point. My entree was a delicious chicken marsala pasta dish with kalamata olives so that helped this restaurant redeem itself from being pretty subpar. The ambiance was decent with nice lighting with warm wood colors all round. Overall it beats your typical Chilis or Applebees fare but if I had the choice I again I would walk to one of the other nearby hotels to try out their restaurants. read more

You are offerred two options for breakfast, order off the menu or the buffet bar. I went for the buffet since I wanted to order different items from the bar. For an omlete you order that through with the waiter. The buffetline has different breads, muffins, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes and waffles. The peaches I had a funny taste and I never tasted that before. So I have to give the place a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 star rating. read more

If I read the existing reviews before I went here, I likely would not have gone...so I am sooo glad that I didn't! I was hoping to get a nice steak for dinner and The Landing fulfilled my dreams. I had their rib eye and it was perfectly cooked to order with really great flavor. The grilled vegetables were similarly awesome, and I enjoyed the large broccoli piece. Due to the coaxing of the waitress, we split a fried cheesecake. I have never had such a dessert before, and it was very good, but it wasn't my favorite. I am just not a fan of a fried tortilla wrapped cheesecake, but I am very glad I tried it :) The service was incredible. Not only were they willing to fulfill my son's request for scampi pasta to replace his veggie and 'starch' sides, but when I asked our server where I could find flip flops she checked the hotel gift shop and let us know they had them. I was stuck! My flight got in late. I got to the hotel at 10.45. I asked desk clerk what time room service ended and then what time the restaurant stopped serving. I was told that room service and hot food in restaurant stops at 11. I was told there was an all day menu available. Well. The clerk was half right. I got to my room at 10.55 and tried to call room service. No answer. The in room menu said service till 10. So I went to bar/restaurant. I was told that only cold sandwiches were available. Heck, I was hungry and stuck. There is nothing close by to this hotel or, in my mind, safe enough to venture out into. So, I ordered a cold sandwich and a beer. I had a choice of three sandwiches, turkey, ham, or roast beef. I ordered the ham. It came out on a bun that felt like it was kept in a fridge and it was stale. But when your stomach is yelling for food, you eat. At least the beer was ok. After second beer, the sandwich seemed edible. The staff seemed to have an attitude of boredom. The tables were empty but the bar was full of obnoxious people. As I travel, I usually avoid hotel restaurants unless the weather is bad or the area is bad. I tried to frequent local mom and pop places. There is NO WAY I will go out of my way to come back here. They got me because I was between a rock and a hard place. Conveniently located inside the Doubletree Hotel Philly Airport. I had a free drink coupon which I used for a nice gin martini. The barmaid was very friendly and could make an excellent drink. They also have nice wines and beer on tap. I did have the calamari which wasn't too great. It was very fried and a bit overcooked. Breakfast was free thanks to being a Hilton honors diamond member. The buffet isn't bad since it has lox. There's eggs, bacon, toast, yogurt, and berries, so it's great, especially for free. There are no wall outlets available, although there's an extension cord in the left corner where the lamp is plugged in, next to the window. The extension cord can only take two prongs not three (can't plug in laptop). Service is okay. It's never really packed, and there's always enough waitresses/waiters available. To me, this is your average restaurant. There's nothing fancy about it, but considering this is in the Hilton next to the airport, it's not a bad place to eat for free! read more

Right next door to the Philadelphia Airport Marriott Residence Inn is the Hilton Philadelphia Airport, and that's where I met my business associate for dinner. The Hilton is a typical high-rise hotel, and it looks very posh. We met in the lobby, and then walked down the hall towards The Landing Restaurant and Bar / Grille located next door. There was a lot of dark-wood paneling, and the interior of the restaurant had an elegant white tablecloth appearance. This is a bit more upscale than most airport hotels, and my business associate said that he has attended a number of conferences at this hotel over the years. Since it was damn cold outside, I started my meal with a bowl of Maryland Crab Soup which was filled with veggies in a tomato broth, and finished with chunks of crab meat on top of the soup. Very delicious, and served steaming hot (which was a very good thing!). For my main course i had seared scallops which were the larger and sweeter diver scallops. They were served on top of a bed of wilted spinach greens, and served with a side of rice. My business associate ordered a steak, and said he was quite happy with his dinner. The prices were a bit high, but this was certainly a more cultured dining experience than your typical airport hotel dining spot. read more

This place well defines Philadelphia. The people are unhappy, the prices are in an indirect correlation to the value for the goods, and they trap you because the place next door is even worse. We really wanted to have a relaxed meal after one of those brutal travel days and it only added fuel to the fire by stopping in here. You will see it too. If you have to stay at the DT Hawthorne Suites and it is after 7 pm - you will be here. I am stunned that there have been negative reviews on this place for years and seemingly nothing has changed. Maybe dinner is a better experience but I have to say, breakfast was a terrible way to start off my day. The food was good but the service was disorganized and almost irrelevant. There seemed to be enough staff but nobody seemed to know what was happening. Although I ordered coffee before going to the buffet, I did not receive it until I was finished with breakfast and did not receive cream for another 5 minutes. Other customers were going from table to table in an attempt to find silverware, cream, sugar, and other condiments. It was like having breakfast with the Lord of the Flies gang. The price is high end steakhouse and my ribeye was so unevenly cooked I can't even understand how it would have gotten that way. The asparagus was crazy over cooked and the potatoes tasted like they had been sitting in a warmer for days. Last night, I was not as impressed about the service and my meal as I have been in the past. Last time, I went, it was early last Fall/late summer. I liked the service better last time more than this time as my waiter was double as professional and friendly as the waitress was last night. It was crowded, so maybe that is why, they brought out my order incorrect than what I ordered While the waitress only shrugged her shoulders about it) as an initial response until I asked her to send it back to the kitchen to re-fix my order. My wine was good and the best part of the meal. I wished that they put more food on my plate since I paid $19 for it (a burger and fries.) I got less food on my plate than even in an average diner or in TGI Fridays. When I realized, that my parking time with the meter was running out (every 15 minutes-$1), I asked the waitress and the hostess to watch my food as I would be right back, as I had parked in the parking lot right next to the restaurant. When I came back 95-10 minutes later), the bus boy whom I informed too about myself going to repay my meter, was about to take my food off my table. Then this bus boy stopped and apologized nicely, The waitress still shrugged her shoulders, while saying, you took 10 minutes, instead of 5 minutes. The parking is very expensive no matter where you park in town, but I expected that previously. While I sat outside, he scenic view of the Delaware River and Lambertview is very pretty. read more

After traveling all day with four children under the age of 6 they were all very tired and hungry. We ate down stairs in hopes it would be quick and painless. We ordered and waited and waited and finally half of our food came out. One being a mediocre overpriced burger that was lacking two requested toppings. We ordered from the bar menu that is next door to the restaurant because it was more affordable and more up the alley for the children. The bar is 21 +after six. They will escort you to the restaurant. Also 1 of 6 very dirty sticky highchairs in the establishment have buckles to Keep the children from falling out. It always amazes me how careless these restaurants are when it comes to highchairs and safety. People are sue happy nowadays. They may have a future lawsuit on their hands if they don't figure it out and a child falls onto the hardwood floor. Overall not impressed. It'll work in a pinch but it isn't anything special. read more
