This review is for the location in Terminal E at PHL. I was enjoying my food & bev so much that I forgot to checkin until we left for our gate. I saw so many different PHL options, then I got distracted with boarding and never checked in. And I'm still not sure I chose the correct business page for this review. Our server at the bar was fantastic! She was hustling all afternoon and we never waited for anything. Of course we ordered a Philly Cheesesteak to share since we hadn't yet had a chance yet to get one during this quick 1-night visit to Philadelphia. It was a very good sandwich, with lots of meat & cheese, and I appreciated that I could have it exactly like that without all the other crap. I also really enjoyed their crinkle fries! Even though this is a chain restaurant, I love small local chains... I know they're doing things right! This is a perfect airport branch, too, to showcase what they do well. The food was decent but overpriced as you'd expect from the airport. Nice setup for watching sports and getting bar food. Our server, Dejuana, was rude from the start and continued to be unpleasant and unhelpful the entire time we were there. I never feel the need to leave a bad review, but it got to a point where my girlfriend asked "What's her problem?" I used to visit chickie and Pete's regularly when I fly through PHL. It's been about 8 months since my last visit. Their portions and quality control has gone downhill while the prices have skyrocketed. The meat and cheese used to be level with the top of the bread but today, if was like only 30% full. In the airport...More like 3.5 stars, but I'm on vacation and being nice. The fries were excellent, no question. The cheesesteak was good, but the meat flavor wasn't great. Maybe ribeye? Sirloin? I soley tried this play while I was waiting for my flight and a few of my colleagues recommended that I try them out. Portion wise I was happy with the crab fries size. Water was really expensive! I was over at Gate E so there's alot of other Chickie and Pete establishments throughout the airport. Wait times aren't too bad. What I will be upset about is this "wage and benefit fee." It's a bizarre thing to be essentially taxed on. Overall, it was a solid casual visit. Maybe next time I'm in town, I'll dine in. read more

All parts were great except the pour on cheese. It is part of the Philly Cheesesteak culture, but was not that tasty (it was not queso). All in all, it was a good appetizer. It came with so dip that seemed to be ketchup with Frank's hot sauce and was actually good (we'll try that at home!). The mushroom burger we got was juicy and the meat seemed to be freshly ground. Had it for the first time in the Philly airport. It was actually good for airport food. I ordered at the carry out counter. The cashier was very friendly and quick. I was second in line. However getting my order took over 20 minutes. I ordered the Philly steak sandwich with the grilled onion and a bottle of water for about $21. When it finally came out it was hot and looked great. Plenty of meat and onions. The odd part was the onions were not cooked with the steak but placed on top so they fell off every time I took a bite. Had to grab them with my fork after most bites. We sat down in the middle of the restaurant at a high top table and waited about 10-15 minutes for the waitress to stop and take our drink order. She walked by us several times and there were only a couple other tables of customers. Next, she goes out of the restaurant and into the restroom across the airport and finally returns to take our order. Then out she goes again from the restaurant but not to the restroom, to the door next to it for employees only and stands there looking at her phone. We were delayed in PHL and ended up having a couple of drinks at Chickie's & Pete's. They were quite busy, but we were able to be seated fairly quickly. After enjoying a few beers, we decided to settle up and head to our gate. We were unhappily surprised to find a surcharge that wasn't shared upfront before ordering. The bottom of the receipt says Employee Wage and Benefits Fee, yet it is not a gratuity payable to employees. It should really say Employer as they are the only ones getting any money. Again, the worse part was that fact that it was hidden/unidentified before we were served. I would have NEVER set foot in the place if I had known this before hand. We have walked out of places before that tried to bull that on the public. The only difference, is that those places disclosed this prior to being seated (via signs, etc). Chickie's & Pete's never once shared this info. There are too many other places to go that don't trick their customers into paying more. Pathetic and a horrible business practice. Avoid if possible, or at least be aware of this before you blindly enjoy food or drinks. read more
