Brad is a nice guy but, unfortunately, he planted the wrong color hydrangea trees in our yard and now I cannot get a hold of him. We had the trees planted in November so we didn't know they were actually white when they were supposed to be pink. Overall he did a good job but I have to give him 3 stars because he planted the wrong color trees and now won't get back to me. We had a solid experience working with Brad. Unlike other reviews, he was extremely responsive and timely. We engaged Brad last fall/winter of 2017 as we were determined which landscape firm we were going to go with. Brad was one of the first to come out, and his quote was most reasonable. The only thing you won't get with Brads company is a digital design. He will manually draw a design on paper, which I could accept given that his costs all in were about 20% less than competitors. One of things I really liked about Brad, was his recommendations. I had an idea of what I wanted, but he tied it all together with what would work best in the spots we were filling taking in consideration sunlight, accessibility from dogs, etc. So the upfront experience was great, now on to the actual work and implementation. Brad was really transparent about changes that needed to be made given the crazy spring (or lack there of) that Chicago experienced this year. It wasn't always stuff I wanted to hear, but I appreciated his communication effort. The quality and workmanship were great, and Brad helped coordinate with irrigation. His crew was pleasant to have around and our place turned out fantastic. Would strongly recommend the Landscaper Guy. This is literally the first review I have ever left on Yelp. I am compelled to do so because Brad, The Landscape Guy was the most competent service provider with whom I have done business. We just moved into a rehabbed home so our yard was a disaster and we were having a birthday party at my house in a week. It turned out the pallet of sod that was delivered from a different company was "scorched" during an unusual heat wave. This was not known at the time so Brad and his crew laid the sod. I, not knowing any better, saw some brownish portions but thought with some water it would "green up". I was wrong. I contacted Brad and he thought it was odd. He came out to take a look and assured me, this was not ok. Brad went to bat for me. He contacted the sod company and worked it out with them where they provided an entire new pallet for free. Not only that but Brad, although this was no problem of his own, agreed to lay all the new sod for free. This was music to our ears considering we had only a few days before our party. Brad was a down-to-earth, straight-shooter. His service is second to none and I can't recommend him more highly. Use Brad, The Landscaper Guy for all your landscaping needs. read more

We use this company for our residential and rental properties. They do a great job of mowing and keeping the grass looking great. They also provide Spring and Fall cleanups which takes one less thing off my plate. Whenever I need help with a landscaping project they are there and make it look beautiful. read more

We were excited about hiring this small company as the owner seemed genuine and on the up and up, unfortunately we ended up quite disappointed and felt a bit suckered. They were overpriced first and foremost for the small amount of work that was done. And we blame ourselves for that one. More importantly the quality of the work left much to be desired. We had river rocks laid down that were to slope away from the house on one side of our house. They are barely sloped and no plastic (or any) border was laid to keep the rocks on our property, something we now have to do ourselves in the Spring. We had two (2) peonies bushes dug up and moved, and four (4) rose bushes removed and we were charged $1,123.00. Our next door neighbor used a different Landscaping company and he had his entire back yard soded with new grass and an immense Evergreen tree dug up and removed, AND had rocks also placed on one side of his house and graded, and he said he only total $800 just last year. The worst part is that the peonies that were moved were poorly replanted. All the roots were exposed--which means we had to "dig" them up and replant them deeper. After the work was done we heard nothing from this guy, except to ask for the remainder of the money. Never asked if we were satisfied or how we thought the "work" looked. Won't be using this company anymore. FOLLOWUP: Spring 2017. These guys didn't dig up the rosebushes fully as we are now getting baby rose bush stems popping up from the ground where they once were. So they obviously left the roots. We hired them to fully remove the rose bushes, not to just take the visible parts out. We could've done that ourselves. Save yourself the money and time and find a reputable company. read more

As you will see in an earlier review, I had asked for a fall cleanup from The Landscaper Guy. They just didn't show up and when I wrote about it on Yelp, they reached out, apologized, then offered a discount to complete the work and rectify the situation. I felt they had made up for the issue, thought they did decent work and revised my review. Fast forward about 4 months, I asked for some landscaping work. We made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. The day before, I get a voicemail cancelling the appointment with no follow-up on a new appointment (I even called them back). I love supporting small, local businesses but simply can't if they are unreliable. I can't depend on these guys and will no longer be doing business with them. read more

Brad The Landscaper Guy and his team did an amazing job. He did a massive cleanup of our yard which I had woefully neglected for over a year and made it look great again. Weed were pulled, trees were trimmed, plants were relocated, mulch, gravel and fertilizer were laid, etc. The price was reasonable and the work was completed on time. Brad communicates well and give suggestions when needed. I definitely plan to use him again in the spring and for installing a patio and some additional landscape design. I contacted numerous landscaping companies to address a property we own on 2 lots in the city that has been sorely neglected for many years. It was insane, some never bothered showing up at all, some came but never sent a quote, other's wanted some insane amount of money for the job. The prices were literally $3000 apart for the same work. We had an apartment for rent in the building and needed to clean up the front quickly to give it "curb appeal". It also needed to be very low maintenance as it's a rental property. After meeting Brad I knew he completely understood what we were looking for. He gave us a proposal in about 2 days that was beyond reasonable and the work was done within 2 weeks. We could not be any happier (nor could our neighbors)! It brought tears to my eyes how beautiful it looks.
