Pretty good icecream at pretty good prices. Was walking along Dundas on a hot summer afternoon so decided to pop by for some icecream. I ended up getting a double scoop to eat on the spot, and a pint of CreameryX vegan icecream to take home. The Lansdowne icecream double scoop was pretty good. The Peanutbutter Mudpuddle catered perfectly to my sweet tooth with a rich chocolate base and generous dollops of peanut butter. The Muskoka Mocha was a bit disappointing as it was somewhat generic mocha and icey in some parts. Bonus stars and kudos to this place for offering CreameryX because that coconut cream pie vegan icecream was outstanding. Definitely on the sweeter side, but a strong coconut taste and a really creamy base makes it a winner. read more

This is one of my fave ice cream places in the city, and not just for the ice cream, but also the fact that they have some of the most wonderful staff members and customer service! Today was the last day of the season for the business and I certainly hope they'll be back next year! They've done so much to help this neighbourhood and community and we would all love to continue to support them as well! On a hot summer's day, I found myself needing something yummy to cool off after walking through the somewhat sweltering heat of the Banksy Exhibit. Then a quick Yelp search yielded the answer that I needed, head to The Lansdowne Cone for some ice cream. Enough said right? I'm always happy for places that serve their community ice cream and to also provide employment opportunities for youth with barriers to employment. That's something that I can firmly get behind and don't mind spending my money to support a social enterprise such as this. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was served to me by the very friendly and smiling staff. The inside is bright and colourful with a few places to sit along the wall. We were also happy to just chill in the A/C because it was 30+ degrees outside and this was a nice respite from the heat. They have a bevy of choice for ice cream flavours and you'll definitely find one you like. They also ice pops that are a little different from your traditional popsicle flavours such as hibiscus ginger or rosemary. When I saw The Lansdowne Cone while walking up Lansdowne in the heat... my search for my dessert has ended! I am at Ice Cream Oasis! :) All the choices.. I hate making choices...and everything looks so good aside from Rum & Raisins... Pistachio Almond Crunch+Dark Chocolate ($3.25) was nice and creamy.. They were so hard freezing cold that the nice staff took a long time to scoop them out... I like them hard and cold, who wants to eat half melting ice cream? yummmmmmy licking good! One thing lacking is that sweet smell of waffle cones... but the great selections of the ice cream does make up for that! TLC is a great addition in the Bloordale neighbourhood! read more

These clever coneheads are located just south of Bloor street on the east side of Lansdowne. The Lansdowne Cone is a sparse ice cream parlour decorated in lime green and brown. Though I am typically a vanilla guy (oh, hush), I got their pralines and cream in a kid's cup. You can also choose their cones that they apparently make in house. The freezers are nice and cold so it was a solid scoop, not a goopy mess. This is important. The kid's cup was $2.75 and a double is $3.75. Not bad at all. They also feature sundaes and milkshakes too. Obligatory Title Pun: CONE you believe it's finally open? Menu Readability: Pretty damn readable, as it's the only thing on the otherwise bare walls. I live in the neighborhood and was excited check it out last night. The place isn't fancy, just a small little ice cream shop, there was one guy working (maybe one of the owners?). They had a bunch of flavours. I ended up with one scoop of double fudge brownie and once scoop of chocolate peanut butter (I love chocolate, can you tell?). Got it in a waffle cone....was soooo good. Service was very friendly, and there was quite a few other people in there getting ice cream last night too.....seems like they are doing well since opening. It's not often I come to this area, but my friend lives across the street and when went to visit said friend, she said we had to come here. I can't say no to ice cream. Lansdowne Cone had friendly staff who helped me decide on flavours because I knew I wanted one scoop of the Chicago Mix Popcorn (a mix of sweet and salty, my favourite), but couldn't decide on the second scoop, which ended up being the dark chocolate one (forgot the name). My girlfriend and I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of The Lansdowne Cone ("TLC" for short) for some time now and we've finally had our first -- and second! -- taste! Last night, after casting our ballots in the (ill-fated) federal election, we thought we'd treat ourselves to some sweet ice cream as a reward for doing our civic duty. It was a couple minutes before 8pm (closing time)... ... but alas! Rebuked! The door was locked! We were bummed. But wait! Rejoice! The man behind the counter gave a big -- somewhat chagrined -- smile, rushed over, and unlocked it, offering the very quick explanation that he really needed to close up so he could go vote. Ok -- so, that's a great reason, no arguments here!. He then offered us a quick taste, which we happily partook of, and followed it up with the obligatory, "so, whaddya think???". Chocolate -- AWESOME. Strawberry -- AWESOME. Further rating by Heather, "that's the BEST strawberry ice cream I've ever had". Rousing recommendation? Yep! We left, fully planning to return. I also remarked, "I know that guy... I totally know that guy... how the hell do I know that guy???" but more on that soon. So we came back this evening after seeing "Hanna" in theatres (also AWESOME, go see it!)... ... Heather got the birthday cake -- which tastes exactly like those fluorescent blue birthday cakes we all had as kids! -- while I opted for the espresso (being a coffee fiend). She loved the cake one -- I'm not a fan of the fluorescent blue, but won't dock points for my own tastes -- and the espresso one was delicious, too, nice and creamy with bits of... I want to say caramelized almonds, but I'm probably wrong. No matter what it was, it was tasty! Now, my only gripe is that their ice cream, though all locally made in small batches (THE GOOD), does contain thickeners, occasional colourings, and the like (THE BAD), which tends to cause me stomach issues (especially the carrageenan). This means they'll only be a very occasional treat for me... maybe that's a good thing? Still, the taste was remarkable, some of the very best tasting ice cream I've had, so I'll heartily recommend them -- it's not organic or all natural, but it's delicious. Finally, I figured out how I know "that guy" -- he's Alex, the old housemate of a very good friend of mine! Small world! I had met him a couple times back in Kingston a few years ago... I even vaguely remember him commenting about how he was going to open an ice cream parlour in Toronto. Who knew it would be just down the street! The Lansdowne Cone opened a week or so ago, and I've already been far too many times. The shop is a very short walk about from Lansdowne subway station, just South of Bloor on the West side of Lansdowne. It's a bit of an odd location, off the main strip, but its easy to spot. It's almost too convenient. The shop itself is pretty small. There is a counter with a bunch of ice cream, and some empty space to line up. They have good variety of flavours, from chocolate to the more exotic. Prices are in line with your typical ice cream shop. A double scoop in a waffle cone is about $5. I'm boring so I keep getting chocolate. My wife has tried a bit of everything at this point. We're both fans. The staff are really friendly. This is a great addition to the neighbourhood. I am a creature of habit and I always order the mint chocolate chip-very refreshing and satisfying. My only complaint is that they accept cash only. I am not saying I want to cut them a cheque like the Dude in the Big Lebowski for my ice cream; however, debit services would be greatly appreciated. The price appears to be reasonable for some scoops of deliciousness. I tend to find ice cream to be overpriced everywhere though-I am a bit of a frugal bugle when it comes to ice cream. Holy heck. I don't know whether I should be happy or sad that this ice cream shop is a mere 800m from my apartment. Damn. The ice cream is made in just outside of town (Etobicoke, I believe...), but I don't care. It's so tasty. I got a scoop each of Birthday Cake (vanilla with vanilla cake with bits of frosting in it!) and Espresso Robusto (Espresso with candy-coated coffee beans, chocolate swirl, and something that I couldn't quite pinpoint.) Easily the best done creative flavours that I've had in Toronto. They do top-notch sundaes, as well, including a house special - it was key lime pie this past week with lime sherbert, vanilla ice cream, and delicious lime/cream/graham toppings. The price is right. The location is good. I'm going to have to bike to work more often to make up for the inordinate amount of ice cream that I plan on cosnuming this summer!!! read more

Finally got to check out this place after being closed for the winter months. The ice cream is decently priced and is pretty good. The ice cream here is a bit hard, so soft serve lovers steer clear. When I mean the ice cream is hard, I mean that your plastic forks will bend trying to scoop some up. I got the pistachio almond crunch and my friend got the vanilla. The pistachio almond was good and it tasted even better mixed with vanilla. The only complaint was that the vanilla was too hard - like icy hard. read more

Located just outside Lansdowne subway station, this cute little ice cream shop is a bright beacon amongst the area's strip joints, head shops and ethnic eateries. We came in on a hot Sunday afternoon and were greeted by the delicious scent of fresh waffles! I usually get my ice cream in a cup but I couldn't resist getting a scoop of cookies and cream in a waffle cone ($4.95). The single scoop was quite generous. THE ICE CREAM I had the pistachio roasted almond. It tasted more of almond than pistachio, which was fine with me because I had a sample before I picked it. It was smooth, nutty, and also refreshing, which is not always the case with nuts-based ice creams. I also got to try the mango sorbet, which bursted with flavour. I asked the guy working there was his favourite flavour was and he said the pomegranate sherbet. I had a sample of that and it was so nice! It was quite tart, with a nice hint of sweetness. A great choice for a hot day. My friends both had the espresso robusto and really liked it. I am very picky about the consistency/hardness of my iced treat. I like it hard (ha). I like chewing on my ice-cream. The texture and hardness of the ice cream was very robust, which I appreciated! So, other ice-cream chewers, take note! AMBIANCE The shop feels very clean. I love this place! I work nearby and visit regularly as an afternoon treat. All the flavours are delicious. I try to get a different flavour each time I go and have yet to be disappointed. Their waffle cones are very tasty as well. I usually get the "Kiddie Cup" because the portions are very generous and perfect for a snack size. I have visited twice so far this summer and have fell in love with this place! The small independent parlour gives you the right feeling of what an ice cream parlour is to be like.The Ice cream it self is by far one the best served in Toronto as well as the freshly made waffle cones that are some times still warm add to the treat. The Service there is fantastic! Both times I went, there were 2 servers ( A girl and a tall boy with long hair) they both were so nice and even though one night the line was out the door and it was hectic in the store the boy with long hair made every customer feel welcomed and not rushed and was very helpful with my daughters list of changing choices when it came to flavours on a busy night, the girl was also very polite with the customers besides me. so.... the parlour look is great, the ice cream is delicious and the service is impeccable its a must go for anyone living or visiting the area read more

Checked out Lansdowne Cone Sunday night after dinner and was met with a feeling of 'meh' that I didn't expect. I read that the ice cream comes from Etobicoke but its really of the run of the mill, grocery store ice cream quality. I do believe they make their waffle cones in house - that was tasty. Unfortunately the ice cream it self isn't that great. I guess I've been spoiled by Bakerbots a little further down on Delaware. I really wanted this place to be great but it didn't measure up to other places the neighbourhood has to offer. read more

The only real dessert place in this area of Toronto, I adore the Landsdowne cone for its wholesome ice cream as well as the large scoops. The waffles are pressed in house and worth the addition $1. Be certain to try the Caribou Tracks! Although I would not make a journey across town for this ice cream, I would encourage locals to support this independent ice cream store during the summer. Like most of the places I review, the small issue of a lack of seating is my main reservation. The counter only seats 2 or 3 and a small bench for two outside. For those who want to enjoy ice cream indoors, the peak afternoon hours on the weekends should be avoided. read more
