Good place for Japanese / Asian desserts including everything matcha. Fast and friendly service.
Love, love, love this place! We were craving matcha and Google led us here--and it did not disappoint. The mochi was simply delicious, and the matcha had a nice strong flavor, which means they're definitely using the good stuff. My kids got the matcha float and the yuzu citron frappe--both were amazing. I ordered the black sesame latte, and it was so cozy and perfect for a snowy day. Highly recommend!
This is a small store selling ice cream products, cake (slice or whole), drinks, and desserts. We came here on 2025-06-19 to celebrate my birthday with a Birthday Dessert after my Birthday Lunch. We ordered a Shiratama Parfait ($10.75). Shiratama is a rice ball made with Janaese short grain rice, thus giving it a soft and chewy texture. The Parfait has matcha ice cream, three Shiratama rice balls, chestnuts, and red beans. The overall combination tastes really good. Highly recommended. The customer service was good. There are two small tables with two chairs each and four stools for counter seating. We also came here on 2021-04-07. We ordered the following (1 and 2 are no longer served here): 1. Spam & Egg Onigirazu (Sushi Sandwich) ($7.75). 2. Salmon Poke Soba ($). A bowl of cold cha soba covered with fresh vegetables, square-cut sashimi salmon slices with yuzu pepper soy sauce topped with unique dashi jelly and shredded nori seaweed. 3. White Chocolate Mocha ($6.50). White chocolate blended with signature matcha. We also came here on 2020-07-25. We ordered the following: 1. Houjicha Float ($7.00). Roasted green tea Slush, topped with Tsujiri signature soft serve. There is no free WiFi. The store is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are no washrooms. If you're a huge matcha lover, this is the spot to go to! More of a casual takeout spot as there is quite limited seating. Matcha soft serve: Hits the spot if you're looking for a not-so-sweet dessert but still satisfies the ice cream craving. The matcha flavour does taste authentic and good portions for the cone. Overall, worth visiting Tsujiri. Quick service and reasonable prices for the quality.

If you're looking for a matcha dessert thats not too overly sweet, Tsujiri is the place to visit. The ice cream is rich in matcha flavour and slightly bitter which I really liked. I had the Shiratama Parfait which came with mochi, red bean and shiratama-jelly like noodles pieces that added a nice texture. It's super refreshing especially on a hot summer day.
Came here to pick up an iced latte and some soft serve on a hot day in Toronto. The store wasn't busy, so I was able to place my order really quick. I waited around 10 minutes before my drink and soft serve was ready. The staff was nice, and explained to me what their specialty lattes were, so I tried their kinako kuromitsu latte. I really liked it (5/5), it was a bit sweet and the matcha flavor was still strong and pungent. The soft serve was good too, creamy and you can really taste the hojicha. I ordered mine with mochi balls, which I didn't really like. It added a chewy texture with the soft serve but overall, didn't enhance the experience at all. The shop is small, cozy, and unfortunately doesn't have dine-in seating, which was what I was hoping for. It's more of a to-go place, so you can't really hang out here if that's what you are looking for. Other than that, nice matcha shop to check out if you are in the area!
It's sad that they only have Tsujiri in downtown. I just wish they would open up a few more locations uptown like in Scarborough, Markham or even Richmond Hill, I would certainly visit more often. I came on a weekend around 7pm, shop is small, seating is very limited with 2 small tables. I absolutely love their matcha soft serve, 100% authentic. Highly recommend.
3/5 - Got a matcha latte while in the area because I was craving matcha. Service was okay, nothing worthy of mentioning. The drink was good, it was not too sweet and the matcha flavour was strong enough and not bitter.
Loved loved loved my dessert. Probably the cutest dessert I've had the entire time while I was in Toronto. I had ordered the shiratama parfait and it hit the spot. The matcha soft serve was so nice and creamy and it paired very well with the sauce that they poured over. The mochi balls were also a very nice touch to the overall dessert. This treat was perfect for a warm summer day. The drink is also pretty good--not too sweet, just right for my parents. The price was just a little bit too expensive For two items it was almost $20. But I guess it makes sense since it's near tourist attractions and it's by a college. Worth giving a try!
Got 2 orders of the mixed soft serve, kinako and matcha. The flavours went well together, and both were very distinct. The matcha had the perfect bitterness that a good matcha should have. The kinako had a nice roasted flavour. We got quite a good amount but still found it slightly on the expensive side.
I might have been living under a rock but was surprised to see Tsujiri offers meals now. My savoury side was piqued so we got: - Salmon Poke: Fresh ingredients, strong yuzu soy sauce, chewy cold soba, pretty good size - Salmon Aburi Don: Preferred the poke better but this was fine. Would have liked just a bit more salmon and torch on the salmon. - Green Forest: Smooth buttercream, properly spongey cake. Overall, I thought Tsujiri's savoury offerings were pretty good. While I'll still view them as primarily a dessert place, it's not a bad stop if you want a complete meal.
Hoji Cha Japanese gelato or ice cream is one of my favorites. This place gives the Japanese experience for sure. It's a cute small cozy place. The flavors were great but I had better in Seattle and Honolulu. The people were friendly. Definitely you should explore Japanese gelato if you haven't. You might not like it the first time. It's an acquired taste.

Heard about all the hype, came to check it out. I ordered a hojicha soft serve which was good, however, the hojicha flavor wasn't as strong as I had anticipated despite the color. 4 stars because it's pretty humid inside & the shop is too small to hang out in & comfortably accommodate customers despite the size and variation of their menu, which is a bit of a bummer. I'd be open to returning to give their matcha a try since that's what they're mainly known for. read more
Tsujiri (Tsujiri Tea Store/Tsujiri Chaho/辻利茶舗) is a Japanese tea spot and bakery of well, Tsujiri the Kyoto/Uji tea company on Toronto's Dundas and Elizabeth. The company has been in business since 1860 making matcha, hojicha/houjicha and other green teas, and you happen to have this tea and dessert spot here and in multiple cities. (I usually don't get Tsujiri's teas as I have my usuals in Yamamoto and Itou En, but because I see the bad Ohtani/Ootani way too often on the latter's displays as in the one on the Bums obviously, Shouhei [with the good one being Ikue-san who for us non-Japanese residents mostly know her as the voice actress of "Pokemon's" Pikachu], I may have to start getting Tsujiri's more often and Itou En's less often for matcha and houjicha. [I intentionally add the "-san" honorific to the good Ohtani and drop it to the bad Ohtani.] Yes Toronto and Canada, I too wanted the bad Ohtani to go to the Jays, not the Bums, and if you have always wondered why the Dodgers are called that, when the Trolley Dodgers [people dodged incoming trolleys to get to work] and the Giants were still in New York City's Brooklyn and Manhattan respectively until 1958, "New York World-Telegram" cartoonist Willard Mullin back in the day called them that as they didn't win their first and only east coast title until 1955, though the fortunes are the total opposite since they moved out west to Los Angeles and San Francisco.) Just like what I did with my Jirou review, I'll in a bit point out what items I see here that are not in my local cafes and vice versa. This will be a good reference section for me should I have the power to return to the city, and it will also give both you Canadians that haven't visited any of their multiple locations yet and international visitors an idea of what to expect. While I sit at multiple spots in my temporary home inserting the usual "Yes guys, the ladies are cute!" statement, I better mention this important note. Do keep in mind that the place, with a simple tea house look, is narrow. There aren't many places to sit at. There are just 2, 3 tables? Right around there. Let me get the item comparison part out of the way. Items I recall seeing here that are not in my local Japanese/Japanese ties cafes/dessert spots (the latter type involves a place I reviewed in Satura, a mainly European cafe at one of my suburbs with Japanese ties, including a partnership with a cafe/bakery in Tokyo)? There are items such as yuzu kakigoori (Japanese shaved ice), shiratama dango, dango parfait, and soft serve ice creams of matcha and houjicha. Items I recall seeing in my usual spots that are not in Tsujiri? Besides the cute decorations (multiple Sanrio characters coming to my mind instantly), the local Japanese bakeries/cafes have items such as kouign amann, "Anpanman" pan, Japanese strawberry short cake, ube matcha latte, and Japanese sodas. The fun part section? Seeing that my K-foodie sis, her friend and I are in a tea shop, a (too) legit (to quit) Japanese tea shop, of course I had to get tea in some form, as I picked the cold houjicha latte. We also had the matcha houjicha soft serve, a daifuku and an order of dango. As expected, the foods and drink are so good. Even my sister's friend said that the place is a perfect 5/5, and my sis likes the place despite not being as fond of Asian cafes or Asian desserts/pastries that aren't Filipino as I am. (She does like European ones like kouign amann though.) The flaws section? Normally, I penalize a cafe a star if it doesn't carry a caffeine free drink as I seriously think about the kids and how I often don't need the insane amount of caffeine, but because Tsujiri is a Japanese green tea company, I can't deduct a point for not having a mugicha. Besides, outside of mugicha, houjicha is a good alternative for kids that are old enough anyway. So, with that said/typed, the only flaw I can think of is the limited parking, but of course, this is Downtown Toronto now. Tsujiri is that good of a tea spot. Though there isn't an ideal parking situation, the place is that good of a spot because of the good tea and food. It may never be my top Japanese cafe (I've known Clover for around 20 years or so), but it is that good never the less. If you're looking for a good cafe/dessert spot in Toronto or in multiple cities in Canada, go to a Tsujiri spot! +/Tsujiri is terrific at being hospitable and flashing dashing foods and drinks, and having multiple locations in the country shows how good the spots have been. -/There's limited parking, but of course, this is Downtown Toronto/whatever Canadian city you're from after all. read more
I haven't been back here in a while so I was surprised to see new menu items... I got the matcha and toasted soy bean latte and HOLY SH*T I think I found my drink for the summer. It's refreshing, matcha forward. And the toasted soybean powder conpliments the matcha very well - I was expecting it to overpower the matcha flavour. Thế syrup was also not too sweet but I do recommend giving this a very thorough stir. Service is still good after 5 years, and the place is great for taking photos of drinks in. Lots of wood elements seen in typical Japanese establishments. read more

Back at Tsujiri after many years! They changed the space so there is no longer a small sitting area (instead it is a display for their cakes). Wish they still had some seating to enjoy their desserts as now it is designed more as a takeout spot. There was not much a line up. I ordered the shiratama parfait, which was ready in less than a minute after ordering compared to my previous visits. The matcha flavour is still strong! Not too bitter. Good quality matcha. The mochi was fresh as well and they added a chestnut as a topping. It felt like there was less matcha ice cream though and more red beans which I'm not a hugeee fan of. About a third of the cup was full of red beans. Honestly, I found this was quite pricey compared to other desserts, so not an everyday treat that's for sure. read more

I've visited Tsujiri at least once per year since grand opening day. I grew a love for matcha and hojicha because of Tsujiri, but every time I visit, the experience slightly decreases in quality, and it's sad to see. For this visit I ordered a matcha float with matcha soft serve on top. It was delicious with a strong earthy matcha flavour without being too sweet. I didn't like that I drank through the drink with all the ice leftover (like drinking a tim Hortons iced capp). I visited on a weekday at 7pm. There was a group of 4 ahead of me. They served my drink within 2 minutes, which was really fast! They were sold out of a lot of food menu items for the day. During my visit, it seemed the lights were off or it was dimly lit. It was also really warm inside (it was super hot out that day too). They used to have elevated floor seating; I wish they would bring that back and restore it back to a nice happy cafe. read more
My long-time favourite spot for a matcha soft serve-- this time I tried their iced matcha latte and to no surprise, I was definitely impressed. Everything here is matcha so you know they make it well and in my opinion, it's the perfect level of bitterness. Service was also quick as it's a small takeout spot. read more

Came to try out their soft serve- delicious and smooth with fun boba jellies! The wait was a bit long (10 min to order, 20 min waiting) but I know they only had 2 folks to run everything and the ice cream was worth it. Appreciate passion they pour into their high quality food products! read more
Came here at the suggestion of a local and overall, it was worth the stop! For those who are a fan of matcha, Tsujiri is all about this. Things to note: Sweets - If you're craving for something matcha related to eat, Tsujiri has a variety of options from cakes, parfaits and soft serve ice cream. My friend got the Matcha ice cream and it was pretty dense in flavor. A bit heavy on the creamier side of ice cream but the matcha flavor was very well presented. Drinks - If you're craving for something matcha related to drink, there are teas and lattes to sip on. For me, opted for the Azuki Latte which was perfect to sip on a cold day. The drink itself wasn't too sweet and the azuki (red bean) added a nice touch of sweetness to the yummy matcha. I love how you can really taste the matcha and not have it watered down. Interior - Very small and cozy. Definitely a take out kind of spot since there weren't much space to stand around. Next time I'm here, definitely will try out the parfaits! read more
It was mid afternoon during weekdays, store was pretty busy after all these years they ran the business on Dundas. I have tried their most of products and never got disappointed. This time I tried their premium sencha( hot) and soft serve matcha in a cone. I cannot think of anywhere in Toronto where they add so much intense matcha flavour in ice cream. Their matcha selection is wide and unique! I only wish my wife and I both have a second or third stomach so that we can try more of their selections! Their soft serve is incredibly rich and has an intense matcha flavor and it pairs so perfectly with the different toppings that accompanies it. Will definitely be coming back as soon as I digest what we had! They also have some hojicha selection that I can't wait to try as soon as it comes back in stock! Lastly, their Daifuku was so incredibly soft!!! The best I ever had and I HIGHLY recommend it; you won't regret it!! read more

Tried this place while visiting the area and I was very pleasantly surprised. The shop is really small and more of a take out kinda place but there is some room to stand off to the side if you need to. I ordered this icecream with dango mochi and it was really good. The bottom of it had some type of jelly and red bean. I wished there was more icecream and less of the jelly and red bean but it depends on the person preference. My husband got the roasted green tea one and we thought that one was just okay. Overall I would reccomend someone to try this place for sure but it is a bit pricy so I am not sure if I would go too often haha. read more

Really incredible quality for good price! I got the houjicha float and my wife got one of the parfaits and both were really good. The houjicha had a good roasted flavor and a mild sweetness which I liked. The matcha wasn't bitter at all and had a strong flavor. It was definitely one of the better matcha ice creams I've ever tasted! I would absolutely come back here again on a hot day to enjoy more matcha!! read more

If you love matcha, and you want to experience matcha heaven, then look no further than Tsujiri. Tsujiri serves a variety of desserts, from soft serve and dessert drinks, to cheesecake and pudding. I always get the matcha soft serve when I go, and I like the fact that their matcha is legit; as in, they don't add a ton of extra sugar to mask the bitterness of the matcha. Tsujiri also serves items with red bean, but I'm not the biggest fan of red bean and will only order it on the rare occasion that I'm in the mood to eat it. The matcha parfait that I ordered came with a cute pink cookie, and some mochi pieces as a topping. read more

Got the Lychee Matcha Frappe ($8.50). Comes with 3 real lychees on top. This was one of their specials, so it may not always be available. Pros: - Great selection of drinks. - Good quality matcha / green tea. Cons: - Slow service (only 1 worker doing everything when I went). - No seating. - A bit too sweet for my liking. - Expensive. read more
