I actually stumbled onto this place by mistake, but was pleasantly surprised! I was looking for the BBQ place next door, and by the time I was seated and realized that this wasn't where I had intended to be, I was already committed! The first thing that struck me about The Latin House is that there is no signage out front for it (and the sign that is standing is for an old tanning salon) so I can understand why this place isn't getting the attention it deserves. The interior is small, but incredibly clean and no-frills. There's seating for maybe about 20 people inside, so larger parties may want to consider doing takeout instead. The prices on the menu can be a little on the high side, and their selection is somewhat limited at the moment, but this establishment is clearly doing the best they can with what they've got. The staff is friendly, fast, and professional. Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious and filling! Will definitely come back here when I feel like treating myself! read more

The outside looks very plain, their sign they have on the side of the building is a bit hidden from the street, but the interior is very pleasant and has a nice cozy modern atmosphere. What a delightful find! The Latin House is located just north of Leonard Street and just across from D&W. There is not a sign on the building, but my sense is that more people will be looking for this place in the future. The restaurant features warm wooden floors, a fall color scheme with wooden timbers. Everything in this restaurant is well done. Now for the food! We had the Empanadas. They were complimented with a sauce and featured a cornbread style coating. I had a steak dish and my husband had a rice dish with chicken and peas. The meal was complimented with plantain and yucca. The spice were flavorful and authentic. We finished off the meal with ice cream topped with a sprinkling of Oreo cookies. This is a good spot for a lunch or dinner. read more

We met a couple at our church and they were missionaries in Bolivia for 16 years. We were talking about restaurants and they mentioned The Latin House. Knowing how familiar they are with South American cuisine, we took their stellar recommendation and came here on our Anniversary. There is no sign and I drove past it the first time. It is small, with maybe 10 tables. We were the first/only people there at around 5:30. It is sparsely, but appropriately decorated. We were greeted and seated by a handsome, obviously well-trained and polite waiter. We ordered our food and waited with anticipation...and let's just say we were not disappointed. Everything was meticulously prepared. It is obvious they prize excellence and quality first!! They know if they wow us with food and service, that would be the solid foundation on which success would eventually rest. Can not wait to go back!!!! Tiny little place but as a colombian living in GR this place made my stomach and heart happy. Service is excellent and food while NOT cheap ($20 carne asada) it is well worth it. I had the bandeja paisa which to my surprise didn't come with steak instead it came with ground beef which I'm not used to. The taste was okay. Chicharron was a small piece. Chorizo was good. I would not pay 23$ for a bandeja paisa here again. I have been to several places across the country for a bandeja paisa (chicago, Nyc, and other places) portions are bigger and include steak. Service was pretty good. I would come back, but I would not order the bandeja paisa here again. This place is definitely not in comparison to any columbian restaurant in bigger cities. read more

Definitely try this place out! It's located in a nondescript building and area on Leonard St. The food was great! Pricey, but honestly it's pretty much on par with all the popular restaurants in GR. Plus here, you get a lot of food. The menu features signature dishes from Argentina, Peru, and Columbia. I can't speak much for authenticity, as I have yet to travel to South America, but I would guess that their dishes are the real deal. The service was lovely and felt authentic as well. Its One of those things you don't notice unless it's bad, but I felt like I was at a five-star restaurant the server was very well-dressed and paid attention to detail. We had tropical fruit smoothies which were light and refreshing and not overly sweet as to fill you up before you even start eating. We had the arepas, marranitas, empanadas and the paisa dinner. Plenty left over with 4 of us. All was made fresh and super delicious. Things were perfectly crunchy and the pork belly was perfectly cooked. The Latin House is a treat. The food is fantastic; the chef is excellent, and the presentation is fun. We were able to try several different dishes, and loved them all. This is the kind of place I would expect to see really take off and have lines stretched out down the sidewalk all day long. Unfortunately, we were on a tight schedule, and didn't really allow enough time. Happily, the staff were super nice and accommodating, and we were able to get on with our planned activities. Oh my. What a delight! The surroundings are simple and sparse, but the food and top-tier service were outstanding. When the food arrived, I must say the plating was impressive - important to me, because I eat with my eyes first. I ordered the churrasco with chimi sauce that came with two cutie pie paper-lined metal baskets, one with crispy yucca and the other with crispy potatoes. Delicious! My husband got the arroz con pollo, which arrived in a neat stack, much like a sand bucket turned upside down. It also came with crispy potatoes and sweet plantains. It was quite delicious! The quantities are substantial, so we will enjoy the second half for lunch tomorrow. We've enjoyed many Latin restaurants in Florida, Mexico, and Argentina, so my rave review is specific to that experience. We will definitely be back! read more

Believe the positive reviews. Yelp is really great. I was searching for a new restaurant to take my Mom for Mother's Day. She's pretty adventurous and I wanted something unique. None of us had ever had South American food, so it sounded like a winner. The positive reviews were spot on. Yes, it's in the middle of nowhere. Yes, it's hard to find because they don't even have a sign. But man, it was worth going out of our way for. We had the arepas con pollo and empanadas for starters. The arepas were really good. The empanadas were too, and the cilantro salsa they were served with is a perfect complement. We gobbled them down quickly. For entrees, I had the churrasco. It was a large steak cooked perfectly. It was tender and delicious. It is served with fried cassava (tasted a lot like crispy french fries) and some potato. Muy bueno! My wife and step-dad had the bandeja paisa (which I got to sample from). The chorizo is different than Mexican chorizo I've had. It was really good. The fried pork belly was tasty. My Filipina wife said it was like lechon kawali. It also comes with a smaller piece of churrasco. Mom had the carne asada. It was a nice piece of meat and she said it was really good too. After dinner, our waiter brought us out a free sample of rice pudding. It was really flavorful, and a nice gesture on his part. If I wasn't stuffed full, I could see it as something I would order. The service is top notch. I saw a couple reviews that said it was a little pricey but 4 people ate huge, delicious meals (steak, etc) with 2 appetizers and the bill was $108. I think that is pretty reasonable for what we got. I strongly urge everyone who reads this to support this restaurant. We NEED more places like this. And thank you Yelp for existing. The authentic South American cuisine took us on a culinary journey to Colombia. We savored delicious sancocho, which is a soup that tasted just like my Aunt Irma's cooking. I ordered the bistek and was very impressed. My daughter loved the carne asada, and my son thought the arroz con pollo was quite tasty. I've been endlessly searching for a restaurant in GR that offers arepas (fried cheesy corn dough pancakes popular in Colombia and Venezuela). I was first introduced to them by my Colombian housemate in college and I was immediately blown away by how soft yet crispy and delicious this dish is. Honestly one of my all-time favorite foods, I could probably eat them everyday. The arepas at the Latin House are just as good as the ones I've had in the past. I'm writing this review during pandemic, and I just recently found out there was even a South American cuisine restaurant in the GR area, and I had to rush there and try it out right away. I've gone back twice in the last two weeks. It's very out of the way for me, as this restaurant is way out in Walker. I ordered using their online ordering service and I actually had a tough time find it because there isn't any discernible sign at this location. I eventually did a google image search and I was at the right building and address, but I was afraid it was closed down because of the lack of any signage. Nevertheless, a very kind man in a PPE mask (I'm guessing the owner) came out and brought me my takeout order, and I've since gone back for takeout and I've been completely satisfied by the food. Their tostones (friend plantains) and red beans are also spectacular! I can't wait to go there for a post-COVID dining experience and explore their menu more deeply. read more

The Latin House is a great hole in the wall spot. The churrasco steak was my favorite I've had in GR,felt like I was back in Buenos Aires. I'd pick that over the Chop House or Ruth's Chris any day of the week. The Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian dish, was also excellent. We went around 5 on a Friday, a little early for dinner, and the place was empty. Carlos, the sole waiter, was dressed to the nines and greeted us right away. Awesome service. I'd come back here, and I hope they get a liquor license. The food was authentic, really good. I'm from Chicago and the menu here reminded me of Tango Sur, a popular Chicago spot.
