The Lavaux is a Swiss restaurant that focuses on fondue and raclette and it does it well. Certainly what you need on a cold winter night. The service is great and the place has a good vibe. The Swiss wines are all very good as well.

We decided to stop by the Lavaux on Saturday night this past weekend. We had just seen a play that made me need a glass or two of wine, and the Lavaux was near our hotel. It was the perfect spot. It's a Swiss wine and fondue bar. Between that and the cozy, comfortable, warm ambiance, it's just where you want to be on a cold winter night. We sat at the bar, just across from the gondola (which you can reserve on Resy if cute gondolas are your thing). Sadly, we too full from our dinner to eat any fondue on this visit, but even if you don't eat fondue, you can smell it. The Lavaux smells like heaven - like pots and pots of fondue everywhere. They have an interesting and varied selection of Swiss wines; we tried a couple of Gamays, which were lovely - exactly what I wanted. Great wine, great service, and great ambiance. I'm going back for fondue.

I've come a couple times with small groups of friends, and The Lavaux has always been a hit. The truffle cheese fondu is excellent, borderline addictive, and they have a good wine selection. The chocolate fondu is also excellent. Service is attentive and friendly and the space is cozy.

Such a fun place for a dose of Swiss. Here tonight at the Zurich International School alum event. But don't wait to make your own party.. Hudson Street right next to Meyers of Keswick so you can pick up your special Ribena or Twiglets at the same stop. Take your friends for authentic fondue. It's a Winter Holiday in West Village.

We came here because I saw a Reddit post talking about interesting experiences in Manhattan, and they mentioned the secret message party. So we got a reservation and tried it out! I have to say, I found the secret message party to be disappointing, but the food, ambiance and service were terrific! We got a classic cheese fondue, the server recommended the cheese blend. We each got wine, our server was so great. She let us try a couple different wines before we settled on what we each wanted. The fondue is absolutely delicious, to balance out the richness of the fondue. We also got a kale salad that was also very tasty. We didn't even have room for dessert, unfortunately. I really enjoyed the food, wine, and service. The secret message party was disappointing, because all other tables answered our questions, it just wasn't the level of interesting exchange that we were seeking. And most people in the restaurant didn't really seem into passing the messages. So I would recommend coming here for the food, but don't have high expectations with regard to the secret messages.

The place itself is really cute, especially for a date night. They also have a solid happy hour that includes food as well. The reason why I gave this place one star is because of the staff, namely a bartender named Julie. Where do I begin? First and foremost, Julie is completely lost. She didn't know how to make a single drink from the happy hour menu, claiming that she is new and has no idea. Second, she was asking my friend, and I if we were on a date and insisted on showing us pictures of a guy, she was going to meet later in the day. Third, whatever we did manage to order was delayed as she forgot to give it to us. All in all, what could have been a nice night out was offset by this particular employee.

Such an amazing datę place for two. We ordered truffle cheese fondue. Jared was our most wonderful server and this evening was magical. Thank you Lavaux! I'm giving you 5 stars for the dining experience

The Lavaux is a cozy Swiss wine bar in the West Village. This feels like such a NYC hidden gem. - The Mixed Board (8.5/10): It's so much fun to get a little board with meats and cheeses. It was so fun to build different flavor combinations with the different cheeses/meats. Also it comes with some mini cornichons, flaky sea salt, jams, and other flavor enhancers. - Chalet's Pasta (8.6/10): This pasta was soo good! The fusilli pasta picked up the flavorful and creamy sauce so well. Honestly, I thought the dish would be bland but it really surprised me with the amount of flavor it had. Def recommend this dish - Jolicoeur Blanc Chassela: Obviously we had to order Swiss wines at a wine bar! The Lavaux imports directly from Swiss winemakers which is so cool. Chasselas are an indigenous Swiss white grape variety. I really enjoyed the one that I got and would recommend Overall, this is the perfect spot for a cute date night or girl's night. I definitely want to come back and try the other dishes (like the fondue)!

If you are looking for an outside of the box dinner try Lavaux. I was able to book the gondola table and it was surprisingly roomy. My friend and I enjoyed the Swiss wines and the cheese fondue. We were too full to try the chocolate fondue...next time.

Cute spot for a late night gathering. Lots of fondue to taste. Quaint wooden chairs and a ski chalet chair for ambience. If you're into cheese and near the area stop on in.

I loved my experience at Lavaux. The restaurant had a cozy, dimly lit vibe that felt very inviting. Great spot for a date night or even a get together with a small group of friends. The staff was very friendly and helped us pick wines by letting us taste them first. We ordered the traditional fondue and the Bolets fondue, which included mushrooms. There were plenty of sides to dip in the fondue, and the portions were generous. For dessert, we had the chocolate fondue, which was one of the best I've ever tasted. It came with bananas, strawberries, and waffle bites. Although the prices were a bit high, the great food and wine made it all worthwhile.

The event took place in The Loft, which is a small venue, but with a great view of the stage. Doors opened at least an hour and 1/2 before show time. I do recommend arriving early to order food and drinks - service was very attentive before the show. It gets a little difficult to order food as the show is taking place. You can still flag your server, but it may take a longer wait time as the kitchen gets busier. Depending on your ticket, you may be sharing tables with other people, which I was okay with. I went with a friend to the show and ended up sharing the table with two other people. That can be off-putting for some people, so I wanted to make a note of that! Seating is several long tables or small tables stacked up against together. However, the food was delicious! We ordered a charcuterie board to share, margarita flatbread, and truffle mushroom flatbread. And of course, we had to pair our meal with wine! We ordered a delicious Riesling each. I recommend the City Winery for a date night or a fun girls' night out. They host a variety of events and wine tastings, so it's worth a visit!

For my first time at City Winery I was impressed, but also a bit confused. It's definitely a nice venue, but it could use a bit more organization. It's so huge and has different parts to dine or hang out in different areas, one can be confused about where exactly to go. This one area I was in, you could step outside onto the peer that happens to be connected and shared with other stores and restaurants. I did take pictures and videos for a better understanding. Now when it came to my experience after exploring and figuring out where to go, I ended up at the bar area and was happier with that experience over my sit down dining experience. I was told two different things when it came to ordering drinks and food from both areas. This confusion caused me to miss some time away from the musical experience. So in the end I would suggest order your drinks from the bar and bring them to your sitting experience and order your food from your sitting area. My order was also wrong and because of it what I wanted sold out, but I did end up with the best lobster ravioli I ever had in my life so a plus for that. Although it wasn't in my budget to buy, It was worth going into the wiggle fund. I do set me a budget every-time I go out anywhere. I have a spend amount and an amount for a little wiggle room. I will not go over the wiggle amount. You should do the same lol! Anyway I would recommend this place with little advice to prepare you for, if you have read this full review. A thumb up and Happy Yelping! F.Y I.-Tamar dinner with you was amazing! Thank you

I came in on a Wednesday night at 8pm, it was empty and we were seated right away. The entire store and bar is very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There's 3 floors, the bottom floor which located another bar, the main floor which is street level and has the coffee bar and merch, and the top floor which included the Arriviamo Bar. Our server was very nice but didn't catch his name. We couldn't choose which drinks to get so we settled on the espresso martini flight which includes their espresso martini, double matcha espresso margarita, and ube espresso martini. * Espresso martini: tasted good, foam was perfect sweetness, can barely taste the alcohol * Double matcha margarita: good, matcha foam was good, you can definitely taste the tequila in this but they seem to use good tequila * Ube martini: nice sweet drink, but doesn't taste like ube at all (to be expected, but the ube cold foam on their regular coffee drinks has more of a hint of ube than this drink does) * Matcha butterfly pea swirl cake: has a nice dense texture, light taste of matcha, butterfly pea cream also has a thick creamy texture and a very light taste, perfect snack for a drink with a strong taste Overall good experience, would definitely be back to try the other drinks here and downstairs.

However the drinks were made well and tasted great. Loved the ube cloud drink the most. Overall a pleasant experience but nothing that wow'd me. I'd stop by to experience it at least once.

It was a fabulous setup with beautiful strung up lights lining the ceiling. While we waited to be seated we were given glasses of sparkling white wine. Our waiter told us that the space for the JBF LTD was donated by one of the JBF board members. Very cool. Eventually, we were seated at our communal table and were given a green garden gazpacho to start. It had pickled green strawberries which were surprisingly very good. Usually you throw the green strawberries out of the bunch and only eat the red ripe ones. David Kinch opened our eyes to eating this unripened fruit and I will never look at green strawberries the same! The soup was paired with vegetable beignets and a crispy vegetable chip - both were just perfect. Our next course was my girlfriend's favorite - an abalone salad nestled on a bed of romaine lettuce coupled with grilled cucumbers and an avocado-nori sauce. I loved the avocado-nori sauce with the tender abalone. The entree came next and was a succulent porcelet with the best crispy pork skins! It was served communal style which was kind of cool. There were two cuts of meat - belly and tenderloin. My favorite part was the skins. Dessert was a lovely popover with powdered sugar. Sweet, simple, and delicious. We had different wine pairings with each course and were semi-tipsy by then end of the meal. The best treat of the night was when David Kinch and John Paul Carmona came out and greeted the diners. They were both kind enough to sign my copy of the menu also. I'll be on the watch out for next years JBF pop up!
