Stopped in on a Thursday night before it got crowded. The back room was occupied by a party so we were seated in the front room. I had the unfortunate task of sitting in the seat next to the back room. The seat sticks out so every time passes by, you get hit in your seat. It was very annoying. Once the party cleared up, we moved to the back and had two comfortable arm chairs to sit on. The cheese plate is great as was the chocolate plate. I had two glasses of French wine. The bar is intimate and cozy. Service is good. Just try to sit in the back for a more enjoyable experience.

Charming Wine Bar. They are the sister bar of Orient Express. The wine menu is impressive but they also have a great cocktail and beer selection if that is more your taste. The decor makes you feel like you are sitting in someone's private library. They have a nice selection of small bites on the menu.

We had this little gem all to ourselves! Great old school type of set up. Has a fabulous wine list and also a full bar. Seating inside and outside. Great date spot with lots of secluded seating in the back area. Service was good as it was just us! I went with a glass of Sancerre and my friends had a Rosè and a Cabernet Sauvignon. All 3 were excellent pours and big globe glasses. I'm not a big white wine fan but on this extremely humid hot day I wasn't feeling the reds. So I'd always heard the Sancerre was a great dry . It was perfect for this balmy weather. Nice and cold too. My Rosè friend said the same. I tried the Cab and it was really good too. Quaint spot we found just walking the area. Nice classy wine bar.

Turks and Frogs is a west village GEM. The coastal decor sets an old school vibe, and the service is great. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about all the wines on the list and made a great orange wine recommendation. My friends and I split the bottle and had a great time catching up. When we first arrived we walked right in and were seated but by the time we left it was quite crowded, especially around the bar area. I would absolutely recommend checking out Turks and Frogs!

Horrible service, very rude staff. Drinks were mediocre at best. There are so many better spots in this neighborhood.

The wines are good, the appetizers last and there are plenty of cozy nooks in which to lounge about all night.

I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

Appreciate the quality service and the intriguing menu; the food does come pricey, but there are some interesting innovation to make it a worthwhile one time experience. Zhong Zi - One of the best wrapped glutinuous rice I've had; its impressive how light they made the rice so it isn't all consuming on the belly. Celtuce - Impressive dish that transforms simple ingredients into a show stopper; the celtuce is tender and performs great osmosis to absorb that addictive vinaigarette. The crisp onion adds a delightful depth and texture. Cheung Fun - The cheung fun technique needs to be improved as the rice crepe is too thick, especially when the competition is at at all time high just within blocks. The command on textures is very nice with the crisp vegetable filling and saline burst of roe. However, the salinity of roe plus the soy needs sweetness to balance the saline forward dish. Beef Short Rib - Addictively sumptuous short rib in a fruit candied sweet and savory glaze. The beef falls off the bone with ease and goes together with their rice so harmoniously. Sticky Rice Pudding - Brilliant adaptation of the sticky toffee pudding; I never realized how well a sticky rice could pair so well with the muscovado caramel until this dish. Don't miss this. The ssam lettuce wraps were good, though they read a little more like Jewish brisket with a spicy bean sauce than what I expected from a Korean lettuce wrap. Still tasty, just a different vibe. Honestly, this would've been a 5-star meal if I didn't leave with three mosquito bites. Great food, great service, great wine -- just maybe bring bug spray.
