Anyway, for those not in the know, Chen Art Gallery is tucked away in the Sunrider office building. You have to call to make an appointment and parking is free on the street. But it's all free so book away! Anyway, once you're in, there's a heavy emphasis on no phones or photography, and you'll discover why once you step foot inside. Holly was an amazing tour guide and knows her Chinese history really well, better than most of us probably. Anyway, where to even start? There's 15 rooms of artifacts from all dynasties of China, as young as Qing dynasty up to the 19th century to as old as 3000BC. And you'll be seeing things from authentic thrones to lavish silk embroideries to beautiful jade to sculptures to ceramics to gold, gold and more gold. Everything is carefully curated and honestly, if photos got out, big museums might hound them to borrow their exhibits hah! Anyway, you will be blown away by the sheer proportion of this lowkey museum/art gallery and by the sheer quantity AND quality of everything in here. This is a must visit and I'm very lucky to live so close by cause I hope to visit again in the future. Props to Dr. Chen for having such good taste and literally paying for all of this!

I happened upon this fine-arts photographer, Jill Sanders, whose gallery graces our own lively Riviera Village. With Jill's expert eye, we found one of her Hawaiian panoramic images. As soon as I saw the image, I just knew. I saw our getaway wedding location on Maui. I saw the atolls we kayaker to from a side of Oahu (Ijust don'tremember which dive/kayak shop we used), saw my beach paradise. I saw home. I saw love. Anyway, the landscape image is 78in x 36in. Yep, an investment. Results: perfect. Jill is an amazing talent. There were so many images I wanted. We found the one that works!

Instead, I stood there for 10-15 minutes while people kept working and no one even acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. It honestly felt like they only want to interact with you if you're already enrolled in a class. If the studio is only open to students, just say so instead of putting out signs that make it seem open to the public. Sarcastically, I joked to myself that if I looked like a drug dealer, someone probably would have run to the door. Instead, I was just ignored. Very disappointing experience and a waste of time.

The exhibit was called "May Flowers". I am honored I was part of the May Flowers exhibit and will continue to be featured in future gallery exhibits. Gallery of Hermosa has a different rotating exhibit theme every month. It gives artists like myself a chance to create diverse topic of pieces. For example, the next theme for the upcoming exhibit is "Game on". The opening exhibit party will be held on June 7th, 5-8pm! The "Game on" exhibit will be running from June 7th-23rd. I love the peaceful environment Gallery of Hermosa has to offer. The gallery has a clean open space to walk around and look at artwork made by various artists local and nationally. Gallery of Hermosa is located right in the heart of Hermosa Beach. The location is perfect especially if you want to look at the view down the street of Hermosa beach pier and the ocean. With me being a resident of the South Bay for over 20 years, I am happy Gallery of Hermosa exists and I know they will do well! Cheers to Kimie for making this beautiful art gallery happen!!
