This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant downtown. They don't have many Mexican restaurants downtown like this. The drinks were really good and the food was amazing. They also have a really good Molcajete. The service was really good and the vibe is always really nice. I ordered a chili releno with cheese. Never saw the server again until she brought the chili releno. Never got the queso. The chili releno was very good. The service was below average, but they were very busy. Because of the crowd it was a little noisy. Prices are moderate. read more

I agree with other positive reviews of the salsa. The quesadillas were so loaded with sauteed mushrooms, broccoli, and cheese, a fork and were needed. So tasty. The margarita was flavorful if a little light on the tequila. They seem to be getting greedy. Their prices are much higher than other places in the area, and have began to nickle and dime for everything. The ala cart menu, $4.99 for 1 cheese enchiladas, then charged me an extra $3.95 for a tablespoon of cheese on top of it. A different sort of a Mexican restaurant. Overall I would say it was good and I enjoyed my meal as did my wife but not sure if this restaurant is for us. This place has went downhill so bad. If you want 7 people sitting/standing around while your drink is empty, the manager talking to girls while he looks at your empty glass, frozen butter and cold tortillas, tea that's so watered-down it's almost clear, then this is your place! Prices have went up and the number of selections has went down. The food continues to decline, everything just has a funny taste, and the cheese dip is water-thin. Lunch "specials" at $11.99 for a scaled-down menu... just no good reason to go to this place. 1-star is too high. Do better. The interior was beautifully decorated. We were seated promptly, and our service the entire time was great. The menu was full of options. We ordered the fajitas texanas, without beef. We also got a choriqueso- white queso dip with chorizo added. And, of course, we asked for a spicier salsa. And it brought the heat. Everything was delicious, and filling. The portions are huge! Popped in here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. Overall it was a positive experience, but in all honesty I probably will not return- unless it's for the setup and beer alone. The service was great, our waitress was super patient with us since we couldn't decide what we wanted. We did order the choriqueso, which was good, but be prepared it's more of a white queso (I still enjoyed it). The salsa was amazing and we got refills. We ordered the habanero salsa and that was a solid choice for us. If you're looking for Mexican beers, they have Victoria and Sol, not all places do so this was a win. Now for the main course- we ordered from the house combo selection and ordered a bit of everything. The chili relleno, was soggy due to the sauce so request it without the sauce. The tamale was good, I would get that again. The beans and rice were good. The tostada, enchilada, and taco were all lack luster. I'd prefer taco bell over those, and I hate taco bell. They had no flavor and were blan. Maybe opt for a different meat option if possible? We got ground beef, and don't do it. Anyway. Overall, I did enjoy the experience. Food was decent, service was great, beer was good, setup was amazing, and the ambiance was pretty fun and festive. I recommend trying it at least once. read more

If I could give this place -1000 I would. We walked in and my plan was to eat and purchase a gift card for my best friend. We were seated and my husband went to the bathroom. Chips and salsa were placed on the table. That's it. No drinks. Nothing else. For 15mins we were just looked at. The staff were all crowded around the bar area watching us and talking and someone who was probably a regular, was sat after us next to us. In those 15mins his order was taken, he was given drinks and checked on. I refused to let my husband flag someone down because again, they were looking right at us. A very unfriendly young lady seated us and seemed as if she couldn't wait to get back to the bar area to chat with her co workers. Salsa was very disappointing. The flavor was off, texture was off. Our entree meats seemed to be flavored the same. A greasy red. Even though according to the menu they should be different. Every Mexican restaurant gives queso, salsa and sometimes the veggies ( carrots and onions) but when they brought out setup they brought no cheese. Only chips and salsa . I was told they do not offer cheese , something I feel should have been disclosed BEFORE we were made to feel obligated to stay since they already put the chips on table and taken order. It was during a slow time yet out waitress was unattentive and I had to ask my drink be refilled TWICE . She also just stared at her phone 15 feet from us . I live less than one mile from this place and I'll never go there again read more

The last time we went there, the parking lot wasn't free, it was $11.00 for 2 hours. We like the food, but went somewhere else.

In my humble opinion: Curb appeal: not very appealing. In fact- I drove past it thinking I would be looking for a flashier spot. Dining room was very festive. Chips and salsa had some spice. Staff was friendly- but sometimes there was a communication barrier. For example- just wanted an extra plate. But for $8 I was brought and extra rice and beans set up. Oh well. Margarita were $13 and delicious. Jalapeño flavored and spicy too. The molcajete chock full of pork, chicken, steak, shrimp and onion was unbelievably delicious. $18 This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. Very good. Definitely recommend. read more

This place is wonderful. I've ordered from them through DoorDash ( my first time getting their food) and it was great. Every time I come here it's wonderful, the salsa is amazing, flavorful, spicy but not over so. I tried a combination plate with a taco and a chicken enchilada w/red sauce. ALLL of it was wonderful, the red sauce has depth and great flavor, the taco ( ground beef) was awesome. I'm picky about tacos and this was great across the board. Magnifico!! read more

Nice staff greeted us and seated us with no wait. Sarah was our server and took our order and did fantastic. Living on the NW side of town we wanted to go to the location we used to visit all the time in Moore...however this was 20 miles closer. We headed downtown hungry for Mexican and margaritas and super yummy cheese dip... Lazy pollo for us. Burger & taco for the girls. (Yeppers leftovers) Drank the peach margarita so fast didn't even get a picture of it. We got our food and it was piping hot after a short wait. Our order was accurate and we definitely will return when in the situation of hunger and in the area. I really felt valued with my interaction with the staff. The Lazy Donkey has a prime downtown spot but feels more like an authentic Mexican restaurant. Not fancy - with a large menu and plenty of Mexican vibe. :) Great place for the family. Food was in huge portions! Everything tasted good and service was quick and pleasant. My oldest got a Nacho Supreme and with all the toppings, my Queso loving daughter thought it needed more Queso cuz it got buried down at the bottom. The younger two shared a Nacho Fajita with steak and even though my kids don't like onion, we took it how it is and they both said that the onions and bellpeppers had all flavors so they kept putting onions on each bite. I call that a win! My wife and I had the Parrillada Mexicana (single) as well as the carne Asada platter. The PM was a hot skillet with steak, chicken, shrimp, pork and chorizo. I got rice, beans, pico and sour cream on the side with some flour tortillas. The carne Asada was two pieces of steak with pico, guac, rice, and beans. They were both good and fairly large. Their white Queso was tasty- I don't know if I'd call it OKC's famous Queso but all in we had a good experience so we would recommend it. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you enter you're welcomed into a clean, colorful, well lit space. The staff is friendly and the service is above average. They don't serve free queso with the setup and while the chips and salsa are not exotic, they have good flavor and you can tell they are fresh. I ordered the fajita chicken nachos and substituted bell pepper for jalapeños. It was covered in grilled onions and grilled jalapeños and had a decent amount of queso blanco on the nachos. They were good but I'll likely try enchiladas when I eventually return. Overall it's a good restaurant and worth a visit. read more
