We decided to give Chelino's a try, and we're glad we did! Raul took great care of us from the moment we sat down. He asked what kinds of flavors we liked and created dishes that absolutely hit the mark. The service and attention to detail were outstanding. The salsa and fresh flour tortillas were delicious, but when we told Raul we liked things spicy, he brought out a salsa with the perfect kick. It was fantastic! The restaurant isn't fancy, but if you're looking for great Tex-Mex, excellent service, and people who genuinely want you to enjoy your meal, Chelino's is worth the visit. The food here is really good. I loved the tortias. They were moist and hot. The queso had alot of onion. The tacos tasted fresh juicy meat and delicious. I got pulled chicken not fajita. It was good. The sour cream guacomole was perfect. Soppapia was fresh and delicious. Honestly good food. Good service. This place is a hidden gem. I purchased the taco supreme plate with double rice. This trip to Oklahoma City comes with a stop via a funeral home. My husband and I were helping a relative out by getting her to an appointment she had with a local funeral home in the area to set her husband's arrangements(as he passed earlier this week). We arrived in the mid-afternoon to the appointment and met up with the other parties involved in the process of planning, said arrangements. After the appointment was completed and playing phone tag with people, we met up the relatives' friends for dinner at a favorite of my husband's and myself when we are in Oklahoma City,Chelinos. Chelinos has some of the best Mexican food in the area. My husband ordered the fish taco dinner with sweet tea, and I ordered the enchilada dinner with sour cream sauce, no rice, and no beans. The staff did a great job getting the table set for our party of 5. They put the chips, salsa, and queso out, along with tortillas, honey for later for the sopaipilla's later. This is a great little spot always to get together. So if you are looking for a family owned establishment with a great staff, excellent food Chelino's is the way to go. read more

This is the only Chelinos anyone needs to try. All others pale in comparison. The chips are better. The cheese is better. The salsa is great. I get the Tortilla Soup.. and ask for less chicken. because it is heavy on the chicken and the best part of it is the broth and vegetables in it. I take that back. the best part is the strips of tortilla on top and the mound of cheddar cheese. It starts out crispy and then as the cheese melts, the tortilla strips get slightly soggy and it's just the best. Great for a hangover. or if you're feeling blue. Chelinos used to be the place. I have stopped going here. But my sister made girlfriend had a b-day and wanted to go. It was horrible. Cheese sauce is watery and tasteless. The chips are hard. Chicken enchiladas were tough and stringy the more you chewed the bigger the chicken got. Don't know what kind of chicken that was. I couldn't even cut the enchiladas. I have been going up the street to La Salsa grill. Very delicious. Very disappointed with this meal. Come on Chelinos come back to us. read more

The menu had lots of new items on it, one of which I ordered and it did not disappoint. The stand out would be the service. They manage to be super attentive without disrupting you. Chelino's has been a favorite spot of mine in Oklahoma City for a few years now. It's sentimental in many ways, and many memories have been made here. Today was the first time I'd been to one of Chelinos locations in a while, and it didn't disappoint. Our waiter was excellent. Which, in my experience, the staff are always amazing and don't even give you a chance to ask for something due to them being so observant. The food was excellent- as always. A drink in an ice cold goblet/schooner with lime pulp and salt all around the rim. Fresh salsa and sauces that taste straight out of the garden, and unbelievably reasonable prices. They bring out salsa and cheese dip at no extra charge, and be sure and ask for a plate of grilled onions, jalapenos, and tomatoes they bring out with tortillas as an appetizer, and it's under 2 bucks. The shrimp cocktail which is in an unbelievable sauce with huge chunks of avocado mixed in, and their chile relleno are two of my fav's, as well as cheese enchiladas, guisada (spelling?), & SO much more. We have been eating at Chelinos some 28 years every Saturday except when we are on vacation. The location on 16th and Meridian has been our eating place since they opened. It is by far the best location and the quality of food is fantastic! The staff is very friendly and are like family to us. Kudos to Chuy and his Staff! read more

Ordered takeout, the tacos were soggy, they were buried underneath the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, they should have been wrapped in foil. The cheese sauce was flavorless and what is up with the diced carrots in the relish??? They used to be sliced.....getting cheap??? And the taco shells were burnt, very disappointing. read more

Better Mexican food than I expected in OKC! I had the carne asada tacos and a side salad. The salad was terrible but I sort of expected that. The tacos were great though. This is a major split decision; Mr. Muscle actually liked it; and I thought it was horrible. He had pork in tomatillo sauce and said the meat was a little tough but good flavor. I ordered what was described as a chicken burrito covered with chili. I got a VERY flimsy (NO meat, double tortilla!) burrito with 1/2 chili and 1/2 some weird cream sauce on it . Horrible. The salsa was yellow - weird. But obviously tomatoes. So the second dish of salsa was slightly more red (but not really red) so I figure they are using yellow tomatoes - and they ain't heirloom! Too bad... should have been better. Staff was friendly although our waiter didn't speak a lick of English - he would grab someone to interpret for us. I won't go again but may be its all in what you order. The chips were not that great either, but they do serve flour tortillas with butter and honey on the plate - so that is what I had for dinner. The salsa and chips are made fresh and you can taste the difference with every bite.
