The cherry spritz, mama I dream of it still . My only qualm is that I am a stickler for good glassware ~ I would like to see the beverages with a stem. And based on the aesthetic I know the owner could find some classic glassware. We need more places like this in GR, and I need more POH in my LIFE.

Popping in on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a friend around 9:30pm, here's my experience. 1) Cocktails: Their menu is large and includes cocktails, wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and small bites. My friend ordered a seasonal cocktail and I started with the Passion Spritz, which was my favorite with passion fruit and guava. For my second drink, I ordered the French 75, which was average. It has good taste, but it came with a large ice cube. The cocktail was more watered down than ones I've had chilled v. with an ice cube. 2) Service: It was attentive and friendly. Throughout our stay, the servers checked in with us at appropriate times. All were approachable. 3) Space: It's simple yet chic with plenty of places to sit at the bar, at tables, and on couches. If you want a great place to catch up with friends, go here!

Stopped in here with a friend before an event. I will need to go back to get a full experience, but…read morethe short time we were there was nice. It was a hot day, but after work the patio was out of the sun, so we opted for a table outside. The patio is cute. I like that there are a bunch of 2 person tables rather than large party tables, and the lights are nice. Our server was very pleasant. She definitely knew what she was talking about and was able to tell us if something was going to be super sweet, and which drinks were more popular. Also, after she seated us and gave us the menu she gave us a few minutes and came back with waters and little samples of lavender lemonade, which was really good! I ordered the rosemary gin fizz, and my friend ordered one of the zero proof mocktails. She was warned it would be sweet, and she said it was definitely sweet for her taste. I was told my gin fizz was a little sweet as well, but I didn't find it to be overly sweet. I thought it was really nicely balanced, and wasn't excessive on any of the individual flavors. I was hoping for a little more of a salted rim, but it had more of a decorative salt patch on the side. That's the only thing I would probably change about it. Oh, and it's called a fizz, but is definitely still, not sparkling. While we weren't there to eat, and it is a distillery, not a restaurant, I did expect to see a few more food options. I can't knock them for that though, as we didn't try any. Overall, I would go back here for a quick happy hour or to have a quick drink again before an event. I liked the space, the service was great, and the cocktail was really pleasant.

As Restaurant Week's final day draws to a close, we chose to try The Bier Distillery…read more Off a busy road, not too far from the West River Drive exit, is a well lit restaurant adorned with wooden barrel tables and chairs. Lofted above is a great looking outdoors complete with heat lamps and a mini A framed covered area that can be rented for parties. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff and given a kids menu, draft and spirits menu, regular menu and restaurant week menu. Menus galore! We went with the 3 course meal (many items can be ordered on the regular menu) for $25. I ordered the tomato paprika soup and my husband got the split pea soup. Of the two, the split pea soup was the clear winner. Two kinds of pork (cubed and shredded), well balanced seasoning and texture married well to enhance a soup I've loved since childhood. I could've easily eaten a bowl for my meal. The accompanying homemade Dutch Rye Bread, though I'm sure it's authentic, I didn't care for. It was dense, soft and had an off putting flavor. The second course we had was equally delicious. My hubby had the beef and pork sausage overtop a bed of mashed potatoes with kale, onions and bacon. I loved the addition of kale and the sausage was tasty. Everything was well seasoned. My beef slow cooked with apples and beer was delicious. I wish it had been served with more beef. It would have been nice to have some bigger chunks of meat to dive into. The mashed potatoes they came with were good, but the potatoes with kale were the star between the two dishes. The kid's meals were also good. The hamburger had a nice smokey flavor with a tasty side of fries. My daughter didn't care for her Mac 'n cheese, but that's because it was too refined for her palette. The Gouda cheese was complimented by the egg noodles. The third course was dessert. I tried the restaurant Flip custard: Dutch custard, fruit compote, and topped with a dollop of Greek Yogurt. It came with a cute spoon that gave the perfect portions and the flavors all complemented each other well. I would order this again and again. It was a great balance of tangy, fruity and sweet. My husband had the stroopwafle icecream. It was also good, and came with a cute mini stroopwafle. I washed all this down with their Bier Distillery Lager and tried a flavored banket spirit. This restaurant originally was just a beer and specialty liquor spot. I love that they now serve food, because that was the highlight of our evening. I wish this establishment was closer to our home, but perhaps will come back when the weather is nicer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Definitely come and check out this The Bier Distillery for yummy Dutch inspired food and drink! Worth the drive.

I ordered the Verboden which had apple brandy so delicious. It's fall in a glass and then the butterbier rum butterscotch cream soda and whipped cream. My sister enjoyed the almond joy. Now the food wow is a good word to describe what we ate. We started with the bitterballin which is beef croquettes with spicy mustard and a cup of split pea soup. We split a burger with carmelized onions pickles and paprika mayo and had a garden salad with dill pickle vinaigrette They have so much to offer and it so unique.

My friends and I decided to have a girls night here and was pleasantly surprised at the experience!…read moreThey truly do embody the "casual" environment and is very approachable. They have a smaller dining space, so a reservation is recommended (you have to call, no online option) but when we arrived, they were ready and seated us promptly! We each got some sort of steak, potato and veggie combo and it was all VERY delicious! They offer you complementary homemade bread (this did take a bit of time, but they were warm when they came out) and we easily devoured it! I will say that it was a little slower than anticipated, but still very good. I would hope the bread would come out sooner than our appetizers. I ordered the caesar salad (very large) and included bleu cheese which was not listed on the menu. I would definitely list that on the menu unless it was an accident? We got bleu cheese on the bruschetta which listed another cheese, so again, I do think that they need to disclose this. I like it but most do not! I also ordered the $29 steak deal, which for the size and meal, I am very happy with! I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked properly. More rare than medium, which is how I like it! I think I'd like to come back and try it again, but for a good steak meal, it's approachable without feeling like it's TOO casual with peanuts on the ground. Parking is available across the street, but you do have to cross West River Drive, which can be a lot, but cars were patient while we made our way across. I'll definitely be back!

We had a reservation, which is highly recommended as it's not a huge space. You do have to call to make a reservation. The space is cozy and not super fancy, which made it comfortable for a long girls' dinner with lots of catching up. Some of us started with salads and an appetizer. They also gave us some complimentary rolls and butter. My Caesar salad was fresh and tasty, and a large portion for a side, but it had a lot of blue cheese crumbles, which wasn't listed on the menu. I personally love blue cheese, so I didn't mind, but it's a pretty polarizing ingredient so it surprised me a bit. The bruschetta was a really big portion and very delicious. I liked the amount of topping and the bread help up nicely. This dish also had blue cheese crumbles on it when we tried it. The steak menu is interesting and varied, and I like that all the cuts come with a potato and vegetable side, which isn't typical at fancier places. I went with the 10 oz barrel cut filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I also ordered a side of the mac and cheese. Our main courses took a little bit of time to come out, but I was pleased with the meal. My medium rare filet was definitely more on the rare side, but I didn't mind. The mac and cheese was tasty but the sauce was a bit broken. It also had peas in it... not listed on the menu and also kind of weird. I liked it though! We were interested in the dessert options, but it sounded like they haven't really rounded that out yet as they just had a couple cupcakes. Our server was very kind and helpful and pretty attentive. I think the value is great and it's a less stuffy, more casual option than Chop House (plus more affordable). I will definitely be back!
