Super tiny diner with counter service and a few tables. Lots of vintage stuff laying around like an old Coke machine, and an active train that circles the restaurant overhead. They are famous for their onion burgers. The "single" comes with two patties, but they are very, very thin patties cooked over onions. This gives them distinct taste. Honestly its everything I want in an environment like this! Ordered onion rings (really heavy on the onions on this meal!) and they were good, very hot. The milk shake was a good, very basic milk shake. It is not very thick so I ended up using the straw for my water for this. I ended up getting a hot ham and cheese on toast as well, and it tastes as it should. Service is prompt. All in for my burger, onion rings, shake, coffee, and ham/cheese it came about $25. There is no credit card fee for this restaurant, and the prices on the menu were accurate to what I was charged. This is an Anderson institution and I'm glad I was finally able to dine in. We took my 83 year old Mom here for dinner not sure what to expect. The menu says in business since 1953. It's definitely an old establishment. It is super small and it's likely you will have to wait depending on when you go. The menu is small but efficient. They got burger, fries, onion rings, salads, fish sandwich and chicken tenders, shakes and Coke products. They got the slushy style ice which I love. The burgers are thin like Culver's. I got the hamburger steak dinner which comes with 2 sides for 9.99 so you can't beat that. They sauté onions between the patties. No gravy but they got A1 sauce. Fries were like shoe string and were hot and fresh. Burger had good flavor. They got diner style bottles of mayo, ketchup and mustard. Mom got a burger and fries. The other person got a cheeseburger on toast. The chili wasn't bad and it was definitely piping hot. 3 people for dinner only $36 that's not bad. Service was great. They got a train that runs on the tracks around the ceiling. They also sit right beside a train track and we got to see one of those trains too. read more

Aside from being THE Anderson, Indiana staple, this place would be a staple anywhere. The food is fast and wonderful. The setting is a wonderful time warp that my kids have loved since they were little. The number one thing I want to mention about the Lemon Drop is the service. This could quite possibly be the best service anywhere in the country. The ladies working there are attentive, they remember everything, the orders are always correct...I just can't say enough. Yes! I love everything about this tiny, authentic, local historical diner. The diner is adorable, with many original vintage furnishings. The outside is bright yellow with a fantastic vintage sign. Inside, there are about a dozen counter stools and five or six booths. A toy train runs around the ceiling. The diner was decked out for Halloween with even a broom that magically "walks" around while you eat. We took seats at the counter. The menu specialty is the Onion Burger with 2 thin beef patties surrounding grilled onions. I ordered the Onion Burger with fries. The burger was delicious, not huge, but perfect lunch size. The generous portion of shoe string potatoes is easily sharable. My husband had the Breaded Tenderloin with lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo. He described his sandwich as fresh and delicious. Again, the sandwiches aren't huge, but perfect lunch size. The prices are incredibly reasonable. You can eat lunch for under $10. The staff is welcoming, friendly and attentive. Water glasses were kept full. Food comes out quickly. I was sorry to miss out on the fresh made fountain drinks. Next time! The parking lot is small, but adequate. This tiny place is killing it! We had to wait a minute (or two) for a seat for 4, but boy were we surprised at the yesteryear prices and the homey goodness of these burgers. The wait staff were super efficient and friendly. It's a tiny place and simply decorated. I have a feeling it has looked exactly the same for 50 years. If you're looking for a place where style over substance is your thing, you should probably keep looking. Because this place is as real as it gets. The lemon drip is one of my all time favorite places to eat mostly because of the atmosphere. The building is small but feels like home. The food itself is pretty good, could be better but you're not there for the food. You are there to have a fun little callback to Anderson at its peak and experience one of the must go/eat places in all of Anderson. The service is really good considering the fact that they normally remember a regular and remember your order without ever writing it down. This place is overall great because of its hometown charm and old aesthetic and good food. I've read reviews about the Lemon Drop, and while the wife and I were in Anderson IN today, we decided to stop by for a late lunch. It was 3pm when we arrived, and we were surprised that the parking lot was full of cars this late in the afternoon. A table opened up as we walked in. I ordered a double onion cheeseburger with all the fixings and a lemon shake. The wife ordered fries and a single onion burger with cheese and pickles. I liked my burger. It was full of flavor, juicy, and quite tasty. Unique. Five stars. The Lemon shake was a bit tart and too sweet. Just okay. Two or maybe three stars. The fries came to the table hot and heaping. Enough for the wife and I to share with some leftover. Five stars. My wife thought her burger was too thin. She is not a fan of the onion burger. Excellent service and an efficient, friendly staff. I loved the ambiance and old drive in look and feel. The electric train the circles the inside of the restaurant was especially "cool". The place was clean and a good value. I'm from California and this place was a total treat! I got the double onion burger with lettuce, cheese and mayo. I also got their onion rings and dipped it in their cheese sauce (no brainer, you gotta do this)! Service was awesome, we were all well taken care of. This is an Anderson institution. There aren't many restaurants worth patronizing here, but this is one of them. On a sleepy Thursday night, this place was packed. Granted, there are less than 10 tables and about the same number of counter seats, but still. We were a party of 3 and we were behind a couple waiting for a table. Fortunately, a couple people at the counter offered to slide down a seat to make room for the 3 of us. There's no need for menus as you can see the menu board from any seat in the joint. We were given ice waters right away and a server took our order. This place is known for their onion burgers so that's what I got (a double with cheese and everything except mayo and onions - I figured I didn't need raw onion when there's already grilled onion in the burger). We also got a lemon shake which was a good call (the place is called The Lemon Drop so it had to be good, right?). It's basically a vanilla shake with a hint of lemon. The onion burger is like a juicy Lucy except instead of being filled with cheese, it's stuffed with grilled onions. Yum! Prices here are stuck in the 60s which is cool too. read more

Cool, old school diner Excellent service. They were fast, efficient, and anticipated your needs, . Everything was clean and orderly. Smash burgers were not over-cooked. Buns fresh. Not normally a fan of the Steak and Shake type fries but these were good. I think the secret is serving them while they are just out of the fryer. Let me preface this review with the fact that I don't like burgers, tacos, or meatloaf for the simple fact I don't really care for the taste of ground beef. However, I shared an onion cheese burger with my husband and it was delicious. The burger was as thin as they could make it to stuff grilled onions inside the meat. The flat top grill taste is seasoned and tastes of years of flavor. The toppings and bun were all good. The thin fries are great and the fact that you can get all kinds of shakes...even a lemon shake is awesome.
