We went here last night for dinner and it was our first time but not the last. I am a sucker for a good martini list and they had some fun ones so we tried several. At $9-10 each why not! Blueberry Lemon Drop was good, but the Watermelon was my favorite. We also tried the caramel apple and it was good too. For dinner I got the pork tenderloin sandwich with onion rings. Both were delicious and the server said all were made in house. What I loved about the onion rings was the super thick and crunchy beer batter. We also got some sort or chicken bowl that was a lot of food. Came with chips. That's not my particular thing but the person who ordered it loved it. They make all their own dressings and believe me when I tell you the spicy ranch is spicy. I loaded my onion ring up with that ranch and I thought I was going to pass out it was so hot. I still ate it just not as much at one of time. They have plenty of seating at the bar or tables inside and a few outside tables by the street where we saw people take advantage of the nice weather and brought their dogs. They have a small stage where they have live performances, I think someone was coming last night we were just there too early. They have pull tabs for those who are gamblers. The place was really clean and staff were friendly yet busy. Parking can be tricky so be prepared to walk some during peak times. read more

I LOVE the renovations that The Stable has gone through! The place is great inside - places to belly up to the bar, grab a table with friends, and spaces for a date too! We were lucky to catch some live music too! They have a great been selection and incredible cocktails too. My favorite is the Spicy Jalapeño Mule!! I think we are becoming regulars here. It's such a relaxing and friendly place with good food and service. This trip I tried the crab Rangoon dip and oh man, it was simply delicious. It comes with big chunks of crab meat covered in a cheese sauce and fresh fried crispy wonton chips. My only complaint was that I didn't order one entirely for myself! My entree was the almost skinny chicken sandwich. The pretzel bun, bacon, and house made honey mustard dressing combined with a grilled chicken breast and Gouda cheese is a near perfect combination if you ask me. One note for the fine operators here, the side salad in the teeny tiny boat dish was maybe 4 bites. Waaay too small. Pretty sure lettuce is cheap so let's get a nice side bowl next time? read more

So I found myself in Pendleton and stopped here. Pretty much sorry that I did. They close at 7pm on Sunday and I arrived at 6:20pm. I sat down at the bar and waited 10 minutes for someone to actually notice me at the bar. I asked for a menu and a cocktail menu. I chose a cocktail off of their menu, Birthday Cake martini. I also chose the Garden Delight panini and the loaded fries on the side (yes there was an up charge for this). The bartender who seemed new put my order in and then started searching for the ingredients for the martini. I heard him discussing the ingredients for the martini with someone who clearly worked there but was on the customer side of the bar eating. I heard him ask about the raspberry cream that goes in the drink and there was none and then I heard her say just use strawberry. What? So they were going to sub strawberry (known allergen) without telling me. I spoke up then and said it is raspberry and she said you can use either one, so be careful y'all. I looked at the bartender and said just give me a pineapple and Malibu rum. Super simple! This was definitely a bar and it matters who is sitting at the bar as to how loud it is. It is all pretty open. So I received my food soon after that and the loaded fries were anything but, take a look at the pics! The sandwich was alright hence the two stars except by the time I got to the second half it was a bit soggy on the second side and I did not eat it or the fries which were severely lacking. The Almost Skinny is my new favorite!! Great recommendation by the server. The grilled tenderloin was also very good as an alternative to the traditional breaded version. The beers on tap rotate frequently which is great if you enjoy trying new craft beers. read more

Cute little bar in downtown Pendleton. By the name, I thought it might be one of those dingy, peanuts on the floor type of places ... but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and cozy it was inside. Drink prices were affordable and the bartenders were attentive without being annoying and were also very funny. The locals/regulars were very welcoming to us as well. We love the Stable. Their Cheeseburger pizza is one of a kind. So good! This time I tried the Chicken fingers with waffle fries. The chicken and fries were really good. We enjoy their beers on tap and love how they change their draft selection so that we can try new local beers. If you are ever in Pendleton on a Monday, stop in if they are playing BINGO. We got the buckeyes for an appetizer. They are pretzel bites with a cheese sauce. I did not get a picture of them because they were eaten so quickly. I got a bacon cheeseburger. It was good. All of the food that my friends got looked really good including the salads. I enjoyed the live music. About 3 different groups were up performing. A good variety of covers. Dined at The Stable last night and had an amazing Philly Cheesesteak and fries! Looks like weeknights are a great time to get dinner in here, there was plenty of seating available, our food came out fast, and the bartender (who was also our server) offered great customer service. She answered our questions about bands that came to play there, drink options and their menu favorites. I opted for a Philly Cheesesteak based on the reviews I had seen on Yelp. It didn't disappoint! The cheese and housemade horseradish sauce were super YUM! My husband had the Western burger that was piled high in bacon, bbq, and an onion ring. Their fries remind me of In-n-Out Burger fries, which if you've read my review on my first experience there - you'd know these were some of the best fries ever. We also ordered the Buckeyes as an app - pretzel bites and their own beer cheese. Triva is offered the first Wednesday night of every month and they have live music Thursdays-Saturdays. It's a seat yourself venue and bar, 21+ only so leave the kiddos at home. We did for a great date night! read more

Visited this place while in Anderson for a business trip. I came early, 5:45 or so. The service was fast and friendly. I really enjoyed chatting with the bartender. I'm from New England and he even chatted about a trip he took there recently. I thought the personal touch, about something about me, was really nice. I got the BBQ burger with a side of onion rings. I thought the burger was very good and I enjoyed the fresh bun but the onion rings stole the show. I thought they were easily worth the up charge. I'm unsure if I'll ever be back to this area, but if I am, I would come back here for dinner. read more

I visited a friend in Pendleton, and we went to the stable. I really enjoyed my visit! There was a live band doing relevant covers, the food was great, and the service was awesome. We got the spinach artichoke dip and pepperoni flatbread pizza. The spinach dip was extra cheesy, which I love. The flatbread pizza left a little to be desired, as I feel like their pizza sauce may need a little more seasoning. The girls bathroom was a little odd with one main secure door and two seperate stalls facing the door with no privacy. The stalls had no doors or curtains. Overall a great experience! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We visited on Saturday evening to see a band. We had eaten here before and the menu was full of things that were not great but this time there were new menu items that were "normal" and not so fancy and we had the best meal! I got the blackened chicken quesadilla, my friend got the buffalo chicken sandwich and my husband got the spicy burger. Every one of our meals was amazing. I will say this place gets crazy busy! If you want a table, get there early. But the atmosphere is amazing and the people are great. We always have the best time here! I would suggest this place get more help during busy times. This place feels familiar. Burgers, pizza, and a full service bar. Nice rotating taps with lots of Sun King and 3 Floyd's beers (and more). Had the western burger with BBQ sauce, cheddar, and onion rings. Everything tasted fresh and was served hot on a wood block. Fries or onion rings with a pickle. Good atmosphere for a Friday night with a mix of regulars and casual diners. Apparently they do some live music. Judging by the playlist while I was there, they're heavy on country. Not my thing, but it suits the place well. For a random stop with no expectations I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely come back again for a food and drinks. read more

Was in town visiting a close friend and we decided to go out for an evening for drinks, the stable was nearby and we had heard it was clean and quieter then most, which is exactly what we needed. We tried the first appetizer on the menu, starts with a B. It was garlic cream cheese blend on-top of crisp toasted rounds, absolutely delicious. And only 7$! We almost ordered a second one. We also ordered a burger each, I had the western, he had the spicy. He said his was delicious, flavorful, not exactly spicy. Then again he pours habanero juice on his eggs in the morning so I didn't believe him. Mine was sweet and tangy, the meat cooked to a medium/ medium well making it juicy. I loved that it was from a farmer in a nearby town. I am not a beer lover due to not having tried many beers yet, so I ordered the beer platter for 9 dollars which came with 6 5oz craft draft beers that I was able to try. Sadly they were out of one so I didn't get to try it but I was able to get two of the Kentucky bourbon barrel beer which was really good! The two bar tenders were very nice and checked on us often, but left us alone to catch up too. A bar regular came by and talked to us for a few minutes as well. One complaint is the woman's restroom, it was clean but small with no doors on the stalls or lock on the door with the toilets facing directly towards the door, so it was awkward when I was mid stream and another woman walked in. . Over all the place was amazing and it's going to be tradition to go back every time I am in town. Heads up: this is just for a couple of beers on a Thursday night. I had just had dinner next door and didn't feel like going home quite yet, so I decided to check this place out. For as low as my expectations were, I was very happy with this place. I walked in to find the place packed! There was a band playing live covers of some country classics - it was great! I felt like I was in my hometown. The decor and options of drinks (both typical drinks and local drafts) were excellent. I loved the exposed brick and the local artwork - it was like I was in Indy! Why the low rating? Understandably (for a Thursday night), there were only two workers, one of which seemed to be a barback. So technically only one waitress/bartender/busser for the entire (packed) bar. We eventually had to go get our own drinks at the bar cause we were waiting at the table for five minutes. Another thing: it was HOT in there. It was a great upper-60s outside, but inside, it felt like 80! Other than those two flaws, the beer options were great, the decor was a pleasant surprise, and the live music was a perfect touch. Would be back to try the food - it smelled great! read more

We stopped by The Stable after having pierogis next door. It didn't take long for us to decide that we were not impressed. The table we sat at was VERY sticky, and no one ever made a move to clean it. Granted, we couldn't see any dirt on the table, which made it worse -- what made it so sticky and how long had it been there? EWWW. Service was attentive and fairly quick. We were greeted almost immediately by a young man who seemed enthusiastic about his job. We weren't sure what we wanted, and the only menu was on the wall and given the dark environment, it was hard to read. This nice young man, though nice, didn't make any suggestions, and just said he'd let us think about what we wanted. When another server, a pretty young lady, came back, we were told that they didn't have any dark beers. That being said, my husband -- a real lover of brown ales and the like -- got a Busted Knuckle (which wasn't listed on the wall). I got a glass of merlot (impossible to screw up). It was a generous pour, which I appreciated. My husband asked if they had single malt Scotch, but they didn't. They also didn't have Dewar's. The menu looks interesting, with things like escargot, elk burgers, steak pomme frites and quail. We didn't try the food since we had just eaten, but it looked good as the servers walked by with it. The steak appeared to be served ON the fries, which I don't think I'd like, but the steak looked good enough to try if we were ever to go back, which we won't. Jon Taffer would have a real field day with this place, because the thing that was the most disconcerting was the apparent owner, in a V neck white T shirt, drinking wine whilst he chatted up customers and handed out watermelon shots. He was loudly telling his stories of being in Paris and the French people asking him for directions, and him replying "I'm from CHICAGO." It was obnoxious. All in all, I don't think that this place knows what it wants to be. It started out as a wine bar, and now it specializes in craft beers (it doesn't brew). They say that they want a Cheers environment, but it is too dark to be that. The decor is all over the place. They advertise themselves as a beer bar, but they have a whiskey menu on the wall that includes "ultra premium" whiskey, but they don't have any Scotch or Dewar's? One server had a "Staff" shirt on, but not the other, and the owner in the white T shirt? Gross. And the wine and canvas paintings in front do nothing for the decor. It's all very disjointed. Get some menus that people can read. Figure out who you want to be. And quit drinking with the customers. The only reason I didn't give this place one star is because our server was sweet. We are two out of three with this place. The burgurs are some of the best I've had with original variations similiar to Bru Burger. We've been to Bru Burger & I would say the stable has better burger for less $. Fries & onion rings are great too but portions are on the small side. The pizza is good but not outstanding when compared to bazbeaux. They do rotate craft beers but the selection tends to be on the tame side if you like ipa or pale ales. Decent boubon & wine offerings if that's your thing. Unfortunately our last visit did not go well. The girl waiting tables was more interested in the fellow cooking than customers. Our food was not prepared well and service was poor. We ended up leaving to eat somewhere else after sending the food back. It's worth a chance to give this place a try based on my good experiences. Love this hidden gem in Pendleton! Found it when we moved there a few years ago and visited often! Always a great rotation of beers on tap. Friendly staff who made us feel comfortable and welcomed us to our new town right away. Relaxing atmosphere. Frequent live music. The place is kind of small so get there early on nights they have music or other events to avoid "standing room only." You'll hear lots of great local artists perform here. Wish they had an outdoor patio area. That would be about the only thing I would change about this place. read more

One of the best breaded tenderloins I've ever had. I don't eat tenderloins often as I treat them as a delicacy and only good ones should be eaten. And by golly this one is one of the best. The menu has changed each time we visit, some menu items are better than others. We have enjoyed the elk burger and fresh cut fries in the past but have found that isn't always on the menu, so be forewarned. Good selection of beers, often local and a decent bar selection. Walked in on a Saturday evening at 7ish and sat right down. Dim lights at the perfect level, country music at just the right volume, and all the drink specials listed above the bar where you could read them from most any table or seat in the bar. There were two bartenders working and one guy in the kitchen. The bartender (very personable and clean cut kid in his mid 20's) was at our table within two minutes of us sitting down. Answered all of our questions regarding the drinks and appetizers. Ordered the bruschetta and it came out within five minutes on a cedar plank. Good presentation and even better taste. We had heard the burgers were great, so we both ordered the Elk burger. She got hers pretty plain and I told them to load mine up. Great freaking burgers. Her fries were decent and my onion rings were ridiculous good. The place got really busy around 8:30 and they had a local girl singing and playing her guitar on a little stage in the corner. She did a really nice job and you could still have a conversation while she played. The two bartenders did a great job keeping up with everyone and some friends of ours (who we didn't see when they walked in) had some mixed shots sent over and they were great as well. The patrons we saw were mostly 30-something's with a good mix of other ages mixed in. Mostly clean cut and not what you might expect in a small town bar called "The Stable" that plays all country music.
