A friend recommended Lenny to us and it did not disappoint. Located in the heart of Durham on the 11th floor. Lenny offers great views of downtown durham. We were really impressed with the location and views. This is what we got: Smokey Mirror: this is their take on a Smoked Old Fashioned. It was made perfectly! Corn Ribs: I loved these. Perfected seasoned with lime and tahin. I can have these all day Tuna Tartare: it was really flavorful. I just wish it was that "saucy" Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich: This could have been better. The flavors were good but the chicken itself seemed like it was a processed patty instead of being a real chicken breast. Carnitas Pasta: A bit tomato forward but overall good flavor. The carnitas were cooked perfectly Red Berry Baba: we wanted to try something so we got this. It definitely did not disappoint. Really light and fluffy. Full of flavor. I am definitely going back when it gets a bit warmer.

This was a banana dessert. Flat bread with a few bananas, a scoop of ice cream and some chocolate syrup

Our main server was subpar however the assistant wait staff was wonderful! The banana dessert was awful and the lobster and shrimp scampi was just okay. The view is phenomenal

My friend and I decided to come here for brunch a couple weeks ago and had a really nice time. I had never heard of this restaurant before but was so glad we stopped through to try it out! The walkway leading up to the restaurant was so unique and a great place to take photos. We arrived just after 11am when they opened, did not have reservations, but were seated immediately on their jaw dropping patio area. It was about 90 degrees the day we went, however sitting outside was not uncomfortable in the slightest. There was a nice breeze through our seating area and the views were truly stunning! I also really liked the inside of the restaurant which was chic and had good spacing between tables. Our waitress was very polite and offered wonderful drink suggestions. We really liked the drinks we ordered, and service was quick even though the place was filling up fast! Our food was pretty tasty overall, but I do feel my french toast looked a little bit better than it tasted and they were sold out of several things that sounded appetizing. We had a wonderful brunch here and did not feel rushed to leave after we had finished eating! I would absolutely love to come back and try their dinner menu for date night!

The lenny is gorgeous and overlooks the Durham bulls stadium. I ordered a fish sandwich. It came with fries and a salad. My meal was ok. I also ordered an peartini which was sweet and would be good for those who like sweet drinks. The calamari was good. Overall the better for the fish sandwich could've used more flavor like lemon and a ton of black pepper. Our server was nice and balanced a full house. I'd come back and try something different entirely.

Really enjoyed our experience here. Had a date night with my wife, and it had been nearly a year since we were able to do our own thing without the kids. We chose the Lenny. We made the perfect choice. We arrived around 8 pm and were already positive about the experience because the parking garage is conveniently located nearby and they validate parking. Despite not having reservations, we were seated by the window, which is precisely what we wanted. We could see the festival of lights at the Durham Bulls stadium, which was one of the reasons we decided to come here, and it was beautiful. We went onto their patio to really get a good look, and it was really lovely. For drinks and food, we shared the Brussels Sprouts and Burger. Sprouts were solid, but the burger, fries, and salad were incredible. My wife and I were impressed with everything. We ordered a cocktail with liquor-infused hot chocolate (the name escapes me) and a sour cherry ginger beer mocktail. Both decent. For dessert, we shared the affogato. Also impressed us and was satisfying. The total bill was only $75 after the tip, so it wasn't too bad on that front. Waitress and general service were top-notch. I want to come back in warmer weather and check out their patio vibes properly

While I know this place started with some lower reviews, after eating here a few times, I can honestly say it gets better every time. I keep coming back for the incredible view--it's definitely my favorite rooftop bar and dining spot in Durham. Just be aware that during the summer, it can be quite bright on the deck, even right before sunset. The service can be a bit inconsistent with some of the staff, but it's typically good. The food, though, is fantastic; you have to try the tuna tartare and the red snapper. The drinks are also spot on--my favorite is their smoky old fashioned. If you want a place with an amazing view and great food for a date night, this is the first place that comes to mind.

I'd already eaten so I just got the potatoes. Some friends got flatbread and meatballs. The service was great. We had a pretty decent sized party and the server, Molly D was amazing. She was truly on top of everything, so thank you! Aside from the views, one of my favorite parts about The Lenny is the artwork. It really adds to the atmosphere.

Came here on a whim and last minute reservation for 1 at their opening time (5pm). There were not many people there at that time on a Tuesday which was great. I was able to choose where k wanted to sit. I sat indoor which was cold along the window bc of the AC. I did notice that those outside came inside after some time because it was hot out. The food was all amazing! The drinks were delicious and pretty. Server gave great recommendations! Decent serving sizes. I will be back to try more off their creative menu. Really great flavors!

Worst experience ever! I understand it was Mother's Day but the food was cold, service was horrible and on top of that a concrete block broke as I walked across it. Fell into a hole. NO compassion from the Manager who put the blame on the property management company

Potential for sure! But... give them some time to pull it together. First, they need better directional signage. Multiple people were milling about the street trying to figure out where to go to get in the restaurant. When you finally enter the actual restaurant it is stunning. Beautiful view of the Ballpark and Durham University area. Very nice outdoor rooftop seating. However, the extra chairs and haphazard placement of unused cocktail tables threw off the vibe. And the service, well it left a lot to be desired. We got promptly seated for our reservation and were given water. Took a few minutes to get our cocktail orders taken. Then it was a good 45 minutes before our cocktails arrived. Half of our appetizers were not brought out. We waited forever for our food and one of our guests then got the message that what he ordered was no longer available. It was such a mess that the manager offered to comp us for whatever we wanted in the way of drinks or other food. So a couple of drinks were ordered and another appetizer. I had ordered a summer salad and mussels. The summer salad was delicious the muscles never came out. When my bill came the muscles were still on it and the pizza appetizer we supposedly were getting free was on the bill as were the "free" cocktails. Our waitress was ridiculously inept. Thankfully her assistant that was busing our table was amazing and he went overboard trying to make things right for us. The manager was also very friendly and tried to help. Because of this we will it another try but we're going to give them a bit of time to figure out these issues.

Went to a fancy private event for one of my wife's former coworkers that had rented out their event space and had a curated custom menu with drinks. The food was excellent. It was a private event so their service was very prompt about getting new drinks or offering food, taking dishes, that type of thing. The food was excellent. From the slider burgers, chicken skewers, vegetable wraps, grilled veggies, charcuterie plate and desserts. Their crafted drinks were very nice as well. The parking situation is very easy, their ability to validate parking works but is a bit temperamental. The view of downtown is truly unmatched especially at sunset.

I came at 5:45 on a Monday (because no other places are open on Mondays!), and was one of maybe four me. In the place. The rest were moms with one or two (or more!) kids, some waiting for dad to join them after work. I ate in a covered patio that in a few months will be too hot to endure. But tonight, mid-March, it's a sunny delight. I ordered a smashburger and a Kingstown Negroni. Drae stirred my drink and out the order in, and it arrived with fries just minutes later. Juicy double patty burger, caramelized onions, cheese, salt & pepper fries. Fresh and very tasty. WiFi was fast, music was smooth but subdued. (Think Sade and Barry White dueling. Wish I wasn't alone!) Kids were everywhere, but very well-behaved and in explore mode, which I find adorable! There are outside areas covered in open or tarps, clear flexi-glass walled off areas, and true "indoor" places you can watch TV in. Everything from Top Gear to REN & Stimpy. A great way to spend an early dinner/very late lunch.

The fried artichoke salad is where I feel like I found my peace. The olives, tomatoes, salad dressing, and all other salad components were awesome. It tasted fresh and the ingredients complimented each other. The fried artichokes were a nice crunch too! I would be back to the Federal for the hot food and good vibes. I had high hopes, but there is reason why fries made from fresh potatoes aren't widely offered at restaurants and it's mostly bc they have so much water content and easily come out soggy. And these came out exactly that way - soggy and limp. The chicken sandwich I ordered was a special, limited time offering, and it was also ok. It was advertised as having a slaw on top and that's a strong word for what was served. When I think slaw, I think robust, crunchy veggies with some vinegar bite and while I got a bit of that, it wasn't enough to balance out the fried, savoriness of the breaded chicken patty and bbq sauce. Service was friendly, but I wouldn't say they went above and beyond. I was eating alone at the bar, and I'm usually accustomed to more touch points than I got here, but it wasn't bad. I they checked in more, I may have felt more comfortable bringing up my dissatisfaction with the fries. Beer selection (on tap) was only ok. Definitely a personal preference but I wouldn't say say they had a wide variety of beer styles to select from - at least while I was there. Giving two stars bc I won't come back here on purpose - especially by myself.

The warmly lit space presents nice aesthetic as you walk into the restaurant. A very chill and comfortable atmosphere. I love the bar and the mirrored wall nestled behind it. The spot is pretty laidback and very clean, but has a bit of a rustic nuance to it as well. I like that. The serving staff were extremely nice and helpful towards advising me in making my selection -- with me being a first-timer and all. About the food: I have to say, the burger was staunchly built and crafted with artistry. Nice and tall with a seriously tasty bun encapsulating everything. Perfectly well-seasoned meat and the first bite was simply delightful. I noticed as I got towards the center of the meat, it was bit less juicy than the surrounding parts of the burger, but nevertheless still tasty. My Dirty Fries were delicious In the end; the experience as a whole was quite delightful and I would definitely like to go there again -- perhaps try a different burger to expand upon my experience with this place.
