The service was extremely good, great timing. The steaks were perfect. The sides were perfect. The dining room area is ok, just has the ambiance of a cafeteria. They also have a salad bar which I thought was out of 70's. Quaint. Overall a great dinner and I would go back.

We walked up and were immediately greeted and seated. I ordered an apple pie cocktail (this is a must order) to start and they brought a basket of rolls. The rolls were so soft and fluffy! I know people talk about roadhouse rolls but these are definitely right up there with them! And they came with this cinnamon butter that was incredible. I may have eaten the other half of my boyfriends roll. He ordered a steak topped with Asiago and mushrooms while I ordered the new Orleans salmon. The steak was so incredibly tender. It basically melted in your mouth. My only slight disappointment was the alfredo sauce for the salmon was broken and a little lumpy. The flavor was on point but I would have preferred a non-broken alfredo sauce. This is now one of my favorite steakhouses and I'll definitely be returning in the future!

We made a rookie mistake: no reservation. Day before Christmas Eve. The only table available was by the door, which, for us, is a hard no. It was already chilly outside, and sitting by the door means constant drafts, tense shoulders, and food cooling faster with every opening. Not ideal, especially when you're settling in for a proper steak dinner. To their credit, the hostess tried everything--even showing us the reservation layout for the evening. The owner came over personally, and in the end, our options were simple: take the door table or come back at 7:30 pm when more tables would open. We were hungry, but we chose comfort over impatience. My dad left his number just in case a table opened sooner. We went home, had light snacks, and--surprise--got a call at 6:55 pm. Not only was a table available, it was a booth. That alone told me everything I needed to know about how they run this place. Stellar Client Care. When we returned, the owner John Linderman, met us at the door--warm, apologetic, and genuinely appreciative that we came back. The entire staff operates like a well-oiled team, with hospitality that feels intentional rather than performative. It's been a good while since I experienced an owner manager stop by every table to check in. A gesture from better dining times. Now, the food. We ordered: * Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat * Sausage bombs * Prime rib * A tomahawk ribeye to split I don't know if Harvey John's is officially farm-to-table, but the steak tasted incredibly clean--like actual beef. As a native New Yorker living in Los Angeles, I've eaten at many top-tier steakhouses--BOA, Ruth's Chris, Musso & Frank, Nick & Stef's, Steak 48--and I can confidently say this tomahawk was more flavorful and tasted fresher than all of them. Who knew a small-town North Carolina steakhouse would deliver a truly high-end experience? I'm no chef, but I do have a refined palate, and this meal was memorable. Honestly? If Michelin ever looks this way, they should take note. It's comforting to know you can leave one of the biggest food cities in the world and still find a steakhouse worthy of becoming a new regular favorite. Pro tip: Make a reservation--just to be safe. Cheers to Harvey John's.

The Walk Up - Another great visit to the Walk Up this weekend. The drink on the left is a NY Sour (traditional whiskey sour with a red wine floater).

Tucked above downtown Cary, this cocktail club delivers specialty drinks that are both creative and dangerously easy to keep ordering. The vibe is relaxed without trying too hard, making it equally perfect for catching up with friends. The real standout for me though? The massive outdoor patio. Spacious, laid-back, and ideal for lingering over cocktails way longer than originally planned. Cary keeps getting cooler, and this place is a big reason why.

The cocktails are kinda of craft artisan with fresh ingredients and some creative combinations. But the low score is simply for watching the youngish female bartender make our drinks while continuously vaping (literally making them one handed so she could vape with her other hand) and blowing exhaled vape all over our drinks and the bar itself. The thing that bothered us the most was that it wasn't hidden and the other workers saw her doing it including the chef/manager or owner. Then, the kitchen started playing very loud music which seemed out of place but more so that it was feuding with the restaurant music and making conversation impossible. Plus, I loved all of the plastic greenery accents and animal pictures that correlate with the name of the location. The service was wonderful. There was only one waitress working but I considered her to be attentive even with the amount of customers there for hamburger Thursday. The owners were engaging and nice. I truly enjoyed my first visit here. Now let's talk about the food and beverages. I ordered the Jungle Bird drink. It was light, refreshing and contained a good equation of alcohol. I'll definitely order this again. The true reason my date brought me here was for the hamburger, which they only serve on Thursdays after 6 pm. The burger was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. No cap! This local establishment knows who to cook a great burger. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly, plus the toppings included a delicious house made sauce and a pickled veggie (I think it was squash). Shout out to the chef, owners and staff at the Beagle. I am officially going to be a repeat customer. You absolutely have to try this place out the next time you are in Pittsboro!
