    Tomahawk Ribeye Steak
    T F.

My parents recently moved to the area, and one thing we all agree on is a love for a great steak. So when they heard about Harvey John's--and their $45 Tuesday prime rib special--they tried it and loved and brought me while I was visiting. We made a rookie mistake: no reservation. Day before Christmas Eve. The only table available was by the door, which, for us, is a hard no. It was already chilly outside, and sitting by the door means constant drafts, tense shoulders, and food cooling faster with every opening. Not ideal, especially when you're settling in for a proper steak dinner. To their credit, the hostess tried everything--even showing us the reservation layout for the evening. The owner came over personally, and in the end, our options were simple: take the door table or come back at 7:30 pm when more tables would open. We were hungry, but we chose comfort over impatience. My dad left his number just in case a table opened sooner. We went home, had light snacks, and--surprise--got a call at 6:55 pm. Not only was a table available, it was a booth. That alone told me everything I needed to know about how they run this place. Stellar Client Care. When we returned, the owner John Linderman, met us at the door--warm, apologetic, and genuinely appreciative that we came back. The entire staff operates like a well-oiled team, with hospitality that feels intentional rather than performative. It's been a good while since I experienced an owner manager stop by every table to check in. A gesture from better dining times. Now, the food. We ordered: * Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat * Sausage bombs * Prime rib * A tomahawk ribeye to split I don't know if Harvey John's is officially farm-to-table, but the steak tasted incredibly clean--like actual beef. As a native New Yorker living in Los Angeles, I've eaten at many top-tier steakhouses--BOA, Ruth's Chris, Musso & Frank, Nick & Stef's, Steak 48--and I can confidently say this tomahawk was more flavorful and tasted fresher than all of them. Who knew a small-town North Carolina steakhouse would deliver a truly high-end experience? I'm no chef, but I do have a refined palate, and this meal was memorable. Honestly? If Michelin ever looks this way, they should take note. It's comforting to know you can leave one of the biggest food cities in the world and still find a steakhouse worthy of becoming a new regular favorite. Pro tip: Make a reservation--just to be safe. Cheers to Harvey John's.

A steakhouse in Angier. Yes.. you read that correctly. We decided to stop in because I wanted a good steak. The restaurant is very nice and inviting. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They told us to check their Facebook page often because they offer a variety of daily specials based on what meat they get that day. prime rib specials. We ordered an appetizer and entrees. The food was quite tasty and came out in a timely manner. When you order an entree the salad bar is included. Some entrees also have a potato option. I recommend stopping in and trying for yourself. I will definitely be back.

Stopped by Harvey Johns for brunch and it was amazing! The meats (shouts out to the butcher and the shop next door) and the flavors are delicious. The pancakes and the steak and eggs are not to be missed. Service is great and the kitchen is churning out delicious orders left and right. The brunch cocktails are tasty as well. HJ is a quaint, quality dining experience that I personally loved! Will return soon.

We went here for the first time tonight and it is amazing! Everyone was absolutely wonderful! The minute we walked in the door the hostess greeted us and sat us right away. Our waitress Amy was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything was amazing! I ordered the espresso martini and it was incredible! We will be coming back and bringing the family!

We went on a date night tonight and it was wonderful. My steak was cooked perfectly! The staff was very attentive and even the owner made sure our steaks were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back!

We were greeted immediately upon arrival, we had made a reservation online on their website. We were given bowls to visit the included salad bar and presented with bread as soon as we sat down. We ordered a Chianti from their extensive wine menu that had wonderful choices. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, it was so good, I didn't get a photo before we had all dug in! I ordered the filet, while my mother in law ordered the waygu, and my husband ordered the bacon wrapped bacon pork loin. Every entree comes with your choice of potato, mashed or baked, we ordered one of each. To end, we got the cheesecake sampler and it was fantastic. Our server was very nice, didn't come by very often but it wasn't necessary to, we had several people checking on us regularly. The owner, John, came by our table to chat with us and ask how everything was. Our answer, INCREDIBLE! Everything from the salad and bread to our appetizer and entrees was a hit. It's a family style, barn-esq interior with an open floor plan. It isn't noisy at all, perfect for a family outing or a date night. We were very impressed and will be back!

    I'd say that's medium!!

Great addition to the quaint town of Angier. Harvey Johns Steakhouse is located to the right of the Angier Meat Market, which, yep....you guessed it, "they get their meat from." Parking is in the same strip mall. I'd recommend calling ahead just to be safe. There's ample seating inside with a small bar top and a few outdoor bar top tables with tower heaters. The inside decor is nice with the wooden accents. The coated concrete floor and high ceilings don't help to deaden sound much, but it's not a deterrent. The staff are all very nice and I commend the front of the house, all female staff. They were great! Food!! I'm not big on pork, but their pork chop description made me crack a sly grimace, haha. And it looks as good as it sounds. The chop sets atop a good-sized portion of risotto (it's not a thin chop either). The risotto was a little miss tonight, not as cooked through, but meh.....risotto is so finicky and usually hit or miss. It paired very well with the pork chop. I ordered the NY Strip, medium. It came out just right. The cut was nice and came out with a slight sear. You get the option to top it with either garlic - herb grass-fed compound butter or Roasted bone marrow gravy , yes.....I did just that . The steaks all come with a potato option, I chose "creamy garlic mashed potatoes". Good sized portion piped onto the plate accompanied by great flavor and texture. Upon being seated, you'll be served salad bowls and rolls (1 per patron). The salad bar is a small bar along the front wall. Rather, uncomfortable salad bar as it sits low. The items were all nice and fresh, but I'm sure it's funny watching taller folks make a salad. The rolls ended up not being eaten; pretty dry. Don't seem in-house made. These were the only 2 "meh's" we had. We look forward to seeing Harvey Johns develop and thrive as it is a great addition to Angier.

We went for an anniversary dinner- salad bar was AMAZING! Service was really good given they were down 2 servers but we didn't feel left out at all. Food was delicious- NY Strip is the way to go. They even took our picture and had a sign for our anniversary.

Dog friendly with approx 8 tables outside. Inside is large & airy with a large Party room for events. Large bar & they make great drinks besides their huge selection of On Tap beers; Many are their house brand styles. Reasonably priced and the food is very good! Apps You can't go wrong with their Corn Fritters in a smokey, honey sauce or their Fried Green Tomatoes served with house made chow chow and goat cheese. Both large enough cooked perfectly, decent sized, and plenty of meat; Entrees The grilled Flank Steak Salad with with blue cheese crumbles ( I substituted feta) , sliced apples, walnuts, and red onions served with honey balsamic dressing was the perfect size and flavors. But the HR king here is the Pork Tenderloin topped with blackstrap molasses, garlic mashed potatoes and bacon Brussels sprouts. everything about this dish was perfect. The best of these commonly seen items. The second night we had different types of burgers which were good but not life changing. However their fries are crispy perfect. The fish was burned and the batter had no flavor at all. Even doused with lots of malt vinegar, salt and pepper, it was still barely edible ( I ate the inside). If I hadn't been so hungry I would have sent it back, but I had not eaten all day and was hangry. In the picture you can see one showing the burnt side and I turned the other one over to check the other side. There was a kale slaw type salad that was just ok. Had lots of onion in it which I don't prefer. The fries were not good at all. Limp, no flavor. I only ate two and gave up. We went to Publix and got a frozen pizza and went home and cooked it. The place is nice, clean from what I saw and our waitress was wonderful. This would be a 3.5 only because of the great service.

It should be noted that "All items can be made gluten free". This place checked off our "boxes". My first observation after being seated, was their coffee machine; it's Lavazza coffee!!!! One of the best Italian coffees you'll find; that's all my family buys. The owner Larry, stated "people say there's 2 absolute favorites that people come back for, the coffee and............the bacon". We agree that not only is the coffee an obvious winner, but the bacon.....OHHHHH THEEeee Bacon!!!! I've recently completed cancer treatments, which has caused me to struggle with food, and found that my tastebuds are quick to alert me to high salts, nitrites/nitrates, msg, basically chemicals. Well, Famous Toastery was my very first breakfast out (2nd meal) in over 7 months and not 1 time did i put the bacon down; or anything for that matter. Nice hearty, meaty, non sizzle on your tounge bacon!! Due to my condition, i didn't "eggspect" to find much on the menu that i'd be able to enjoy but, once i saw the all time classic breakfast it was game on. The "First Responder", comes with 3 scrammbled eggs with cheddar, served with bacon and sausage. You can request "egg whites" for $1. Each item under the "Eggs" list come with your choice of breakfast potatoes, grits, or fruit, and a choice of toast. Along with this, i ordered the "Famous French Toast", which is 3 slices of Texas toast ligjtly dusted with powdered sugar. Ok, you ready for the syrup!?!? Real.....Maple.....Syrup. No high fructose sludge!!! Lastly, the orange juice. Ladies & Gentlemen, Famous Toastery squeezes their OJ, fresh to order! C'mon, How can you not start to love this place already? Secondly, we ordered the Meditteranean Quesadilla, which was on the specials menu. Wow, that was a delicious choice. Scrammbled eggs, feta, pepper jack, cheddar, spinach, onions, and roasted peppers inside a grilled tortilla, with a side of salsa and sour cream. This is not a flimsy, thin quesadilla. It's also not too thick, but it was juuuuust right. If you're not in the mood for breakfast, they also have sandwiches and wraps. While talking with Larry, i mentioned seeing they have a "Reuben" on the menu. Well, Larry peaked my interest by stating "they cook their corn beef DAILY...... in house!!!!!!!! Omg yesssssssss!! Also offered as a substitue, if you're not a corn beefer, is roasted turkey! I could keep going but, you've read enough if you got this far . Now, take your hungry appetite on down to Famous Toastery, in Fuquay-Varina, and get your grub on! They are located in the same shopping center as Kohls, so no worries on parking as they have plenty!!
