I don't drink alcohol, so I was happy to see that they had a few mocktail options. We started with the heirloom tomato salad and OMG. This was genuinely one of the best things I've ever tasted. The peaches, basil sorbet, tomatoes, and that bite of vinegar were SO complementary. Every bite had something going on. I ate the entire thing myself and didn't even offer any to my husband, which probably says more than anything else I could write about it. We also tried the mushrooms, smoked olives, and grilled peaches. My husband really enjoyed the mushrooms and peaches. I was more indifferent toward those dishes--they were perfectly fine, but the tomato salad was such a standout that nothing else we had to start came close for me. For my entrée, I ordered the smoked cod rigatoni. This one unfortunately wasn't my favorite. It was fine, but there was an oddly gamey flavor to it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I love smoked flavors, so I don't think it was simply the smokiness--there was just something about the flavor that didn't work for me. My husband ordered the halibut and absolutely loved it. For dessert, we shared the banana PB&J, and my husband also ordered an affogato. Interestingly, they used chocolate syrup in the affogato, which he had never had before, so that was a fun and unexpected twist. Overall, Hyeholde is absolutely worth experiencing at least once. The setting is beautiful and unlike almost anywhere else in Pittsburgh, the service and atmosphere make dinner feel like an occasion, and that heirloom tomato salad alone is something I'll be thinking about for a long time. She politely asked the kitchen help that delivered the food if they had changed the fries, and server said yes. A few minutes later, we noticed another table being served the same shoestring fries my sister-in-law had wanted. My brother asked about it, and the waitress replied, "That's what you got." He ask again do the have shoestring fries and again she replied that's what you got!! It was clear she was frazzled (her name was Shane), and while we felt bad for her, she never tried to make things right -- and never even came back to check on our table. My brother eventually had to stand at the bar just to get refills for at least 5 minutes because she was nowhere to be found which was truly ridiculous. We've always liked Harrington's and my family has been loyal patrons for years, so it's disappointing to see such poor service and lack of care. Hopefully management sees this as constructive feedback -- people love this place for its small-town charm and consistency. A little more attention and effort could easily bring that magic back. Also, as we were leaving, she asked if we were running out when obviously the receipt says pay online which we did! I would love to see the place add some booths or more decor so that it felt less like they just put some tables in an open room. It has so much potential!! My friend had the burger and said it was very very good! They had a fish sandwich special and I had major FOMO when i saw the waitress serve that sandwich to another table - it looked fantastic! I don't eat sushi, so I can't comment too much on it, but they did have an extensive sushi menu and I did see a few of them plated and they looked so good it also made me wish I did like sushi!
