My husband and I were visiting from Los Angeles and joined my brother and sister-in-law at one of their favorite local spots -- Harrington's in McDonald, PA We've been here before and always loved the cozy, hidden-gem feel and great food. It's the kind of small-town restaurant and bar you want to support. Unfortunately, this visit was really disappointing. My sister-in-law ordered her usual chicken buffalo wrap with a large side of fries, which she loves and always gets. When the food came, the fries were totally different -- thick, breaded fries instead of the classic thin shoestrings. She politely asked the kitchen help that delivered the food if they had changed the fries, and server said yes. A few minutes later, we noticed another table being served the same shoestring fries my sister-in-law had wanted. My brother asked about it, and the waitress replied, "That's what you got." He ask again do the have shoestring fries and again she replied that's what you got!! It was clear she was frazzled (her name was Shane), and while we felt bad for her, she never tried to make things right -- and never even came back to check on our table. My brother eventually had to stand at the bar just to get refills for at least 5 minutes because she was nowhere to be found which was truly ridiculous. We've always liked Harrington's and my family has been loyal patrons for years, so it's disappointing to see such poor service and lack of care. Hopefully management sees this as constructive feedback -- people love this place for its small-town charm and consistency. A little more attention and effort could easily bring that magic back. Also, as we were leaving, she asked if we were running out when obviously the receipt says pay online which we did! And actually if I could take back the tip, I would after she accused us of walking out! I don't understand her attitude. It was horrible. read more

Stopped in for wings and dinner! Everything was delicious! This was our second time here and will definitely be going back. Our server was very nice and informative! Came in for a late lunch on Sunday and the place was medium busy, but relatively quiet. The bar area had a few tvs on showing various sports and the seats were mostly full. The dining area, where I sat, only had a few patrons. I had the spicy burger and pepperoni cheese bites. The spicy burger was MASSIVE and packed with bacon. It definitely had a good amount of heat, but not an uncomfortable amount. There were two patties and the chipotle aioli was great. The pepperoni cheese bites reminded me so much of pizza rolls, but in ball form. In the best way. So good! They were crispy on the outside and packed with cheese and pepperoni on the inside. The server was friendly and prompt, though she appeared to be working the dining area as well as helping in the bar area. read more

Over busy. One bartender. Finally took my order after 20 minutes since I appeared. Bar was full but not too crowded. Wings are way over priced. $16 for a dozen. Nice selection of flavors though. A great mom and pop restaurant-bar in McDonald, Pa. Everything from wings, burgers, hoagies, salads. Some of the best wings anywhere, today I got the hot wings, with Ranch, and Cajun seasoned. Perfection, meaty, crunchy, hot wing sauce was just hot enough for me, flavorful, ranch dressing and cajun seasoning all works perfectly together. A side of crunchy, beer battered onion rings on the side made for a perfect dinner, love this place!!!! read more

Another COVID19 review. Hoping these end at any time. We have passed this bar multiple times and it has always been on our radar to pop in. Fortunately even with the reduced seating we were able to get a seat around 5 on a Friday. There are only three beers on tap (Blue Moon, Mich Ultra, and a IPA) which is very disappointing. Bottle selection seemed strong. I prefer drafts when I go out, Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our drink selection was taken right away and then took our food order. I had the hot roast beef and fries and my wife had an Italian hoagie. My meal was very lackluster. It was deli roast beef and extra gravy to mask the taste. My wife enjoyed her hoagie. I expect more out of hot roast beef. I've heard the wings are good but the lack of draft beer doesn't entice me to return quickly. Just not blown away and these are the venues I traditionally enjoy. Good place to stop, has both a dining room and bar for both crowds. Pool table an machines of skill, which has been added recently and a working man's place to eat! The food has really come along way, portions are a lot better and a good chance you'll take something away from the visit. We live close and eat here on occasion the food is pretty good for bar food. I would say their fish and wings are above average for the area and we have never had bad service. It is a local hangout though so the regulars get most of the attention. The food is good for the prices and the enviroment is pretty laid back. read more

Ate hear a couple of weeks ago and had the BEST chicken wings of any restaurant I've eaten at. Very good food with a huge variety of wing flavors. Good idea for parties and special occasions because no one will complain. Of the three I tried, all were fantastic. Buffalo, darts (cooler buffalo with Parmesan) and BBQ were all great.
