    Miguel Soto

Went here to celebrate a birthday. First time for all of us in SLO and had the WORST EXPERIENCE! Got harassed by the security guard MIGUEL SOTO (who was also allowing underage girls in from the back). He literally busted open the mens bathroom AND RIPPED ME OFF THE TOILET WHILE I WAS PEEING!!! First of all it's 2022 why is it a problem that I'm using a "mens bathroom" second of all the girls bathroom was FLOODED. Water all over the bathroom floor and smelled absolutely terrible. Don't know what allows a man to think it's okay to GRAB A WOMAN OFF THE TOILED MID PEE but stay AWAY from this place ladies these men in uniform think they're hot shit. Will be filing a lawsuit. Stop hiring pervy men who take advantage of their uniform. Stay AWAY from Miguel Soto! Image of him is under "Photos"

Very cool name but there was no library themed anything inside that I could see. Nice bartender, large window table was cool to watch busy downtown SLO on a Saturday night. Music was a bit loud but okay but it turned even louder at about 10 so we left. Good place for an early drink.

This place gets a bad rap, but it's honestly my favorite spot in SLO to get weird. Whenever I'm in town, this is my go to place for drinking/dancing. Let me tell you why. They have a great staff. From the folks working the front like Billy to the guys inside like Rick the bartender who makes awesome drinks to Wes who makes sure the place is spotless. All the times I've come here, the music has been great and my drinks were always on point. I'm particularly a fan of the DJ who plays 90s hiphop on the regular. Another plus is that they have an outdoor area where you can smoke. I don't personally partake, but the fresh air is nice after sweating your worries away on the dance floor all night. It's usually filled with college kids who do too much and end up puking or making bad decisions in a corner. Just to give you an example I'm of why the staff is on point, a couple of weeks ago I was in town with friends having a girls night out when someone tried to put a damper on our night. We were at the bar waiting for Rick to make our drinks and noticed a guy by himself babysitting a drink. A girl walked up to the bar and stood next to us. Not even a few seconds later she turns to the guy and yells at him to not touch her butt. The guy apologized and said it was an accident. I knew it wasn't. A few seconds later he does it again, this time she yelled louder and left. I was surprised she let is slide because I honestly thought she was going to clock him. My friend decided to stand next to him while she waited for her drink. And what does the guy do? He grabbed her butt too. Not okay. She told him to stop and he had the look on his face like he didn't know what was happening. You would think he'd stop, but homeboy was clearly stupid. My friend turned away and he did it again. This time around, we told Rick who then called Wes over and kicked the guy out. In summary, if you're into 90s hip hop, good drinks and appreciate outdoor areas, this place is your friend.

    Some guy photobombing.

If you love hip-hop music, this is definitely the club to be! Even though the place is small, the DJ's, alcohol & music make up for it. Definitely a college crowd/scene, so dance with caution. For those that are complaining, just make the best of it or get some drinks to loosen up. ;)

There are carvings and decorative items all about. Cozy and warm. Historically, there are stories about the various objects and mounted animals. Their menu features a scavenger hunt, which we unsuccessfully tried. The menu is a masterpiece of everything. there is a grazing menu, sandwiches, entrees, a forage menu of basic veggie presentations, and a bar with quite a few very cleaver offerings. Absolutely fascinating interior. Go inside to take it in. You will be struck amazed. Wife and I came in for dinner and were not disappointed. We felt the warmth. Specialty cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer lounge draft 16oz beers and wine by the glass. They also have some fancy custom non-alcohol cocktails. Everyone should be happy. Service was "on" but fulfillment was "off". Wait staff hustled but had to wait for bar and kitchen to come through faster. I don't usually order specialty/fancy cocktails, but was intrigued with a Feral Martini ($17). Got it and found it to be lacking flavor or anything special. It was watery and disappointing. Was surprised when I shared my feelings with our server Camille O. who took it back, credited it from our bill and brought me a replacement of my choice. Way to go! Had a Manhattan ($12) and wife had a red blend wine ($13.50). Now or our meals. Funny that we both has short rib entrees. Wife did the Taco 'bout Delicious ($21), which was short ribs with oaxaca cheese, cilantro, and a dip of house-made consomme. Like a French dip, but different. She dipped and liked it all. My selection of Braise The Bar ($29) was short ribs surmounting a mound of sage-mashed potatoes dosed with pickled onions, blistered shishito peppers (a favorite of mine) and fresh cilantro. An explosion in my mouth and truly yummy. Nothing served here is usual. Some very cleaver people spent a lot of creative energy to architect entrees, cocktails and the rest of the menu so as to be uniquely delicious. My Yelp! profile does not contain many 5-star ratings but now has this one for Feral. Give it a try and this would be a great first date of small group venture.

Both got dishes featuring short ribs, him the mac and cheese, me the entree with mashed potatoes. Pros 1. The pre-dinner cocktails were tasty. 2. The servers were very nice. Cons 1. Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.

Place is located on the top floor of the Hotel San Luis Obispo. Elevator was working. Upon exiting the elevator, we were quickly greeted warmly. We took a seat at a table overlooking the hotel's "small' pool. Seating is all outside but there is covered seating. This place is not a place you come to if windy or raining. Staff was very friendly and checked on us often. They were friendly and we definitely felt welcome. We ordered some drinks. Beer pricing was fair at $8 for draft craft beer. Interestingly, they have a setup for bocce ball. We didn't try any food. The only con was that the view was mostly the rooftops of nearby buildings. You could see the mountains.

But before I get to all of that, let's talk about the food! I've tried almost all the pizzas (especially during Mondays as they are half off) and my favorites are the Salmon & Caviar and Mushroom pizza. You honestly can't go wrong with the Mushroom with goat cheese one but if you're feeling a treat, do get the salmon and caviar!! It is so so good, got to try it and definitely will try it again! The service now has disappointment me every now and then. Sometimes they take long to get to your table, sometimes the wait is so long and wait time is inaccurate, etc. but there are times when service is really good. So I don't know! Wish it was more consistent.

I don't know if it was because of the soccer game or if it's always this busy, but that's usually a good sign. Even with the crowd, our party of six was seated almost immediately. The menu was excellent--not one of those places with ten pages of random items. It was well thought out and made it easy to choose. My wife and I both ordered the jalapeño burger (I can't remember the official name) with a side of tater tots. My son ordered the tuna, my daughter had the chicken tenders, and my nephew and niece both went with the barbecue burger. The food came out surprisingly fast, and then it was time to eat. Wow. This was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. My wife would not stop talking about hers. Her exact words were, "This burger tastes beefy." I'm still not exactly sure what that means, but judging by how fast she finished it, I'd say she absolutely loved it. To top it all off, our amazing waitress surprised my wife with a complimentary cookie sundae for her birthday. I really wish I had caught her name. She had curly hair and glasses, and she was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. I was not impressed with their margarita flight but who cares, it was about the food. If you're looking for an incredible burger, great service, and a fun atmosphere in San Luis Obispo, Finney's Crafthouse is definitely worth the visit. He could've asked people seated at the bar (with their menus closed) if he could take it to give it to us. Nonetheless, I waited and ordered a watermelon smash (something like that). Before even getting the drink, I got the check and closed out since I was waiting for a table. After waiting a couple of minutes, I finally got a table so I decided to close out while my drink was still getting prepared. When it came out, I took it to my table but it was not good. I told the waitress that it wasn't good and ordered a different drink and she delivered it but didn't tell me that I was going to get charged for it (and that was after I had asked if I was getting charged for it). After I told the waitress, she said she had to talk to her manager and luckily they took it off the bill. In terms of the food, it was okay. The lights were really dim so I felt as if I was eating in the dark.
