I've come here a couple times and it's been one of my favorite bars in town. I love the zen garden and the Oaxacan in the park. The zen garden is gin based and it's so light and refreshing. One of my absolute favorites. The Oaxacan is tequila based with smoky spicy notes from the Thai chili and mezcal. I am surprised with how much I like this because I don't usually get tequila over gin, but I've caught myself getting this a few times! The bartenders are amazing here and the drinks are strong with no alcohol taste ahhh so definitely expect a fun night with their cocktails haha! We stumbled upon this gem after a romantic dinner and it was truly the perfect way to end the night. Ambiance is perfect -- moody, romantic, and sort of speakeasy vibes. Drinks were fantastic. The menu is divided into different flavor profiles -- herbal, exotic and tropical, bold and spirit-forward, timeless, and nonalcoholic. Each cocktail is $15-17. We got two drinks each, On the Prowl (balanced and unique with the chaat masala), In the Weeds (strong but balanced and sweet), Paper Plane (classic and done well), and Clover Club (my absolute favorite, elegant and perfectly sweet). Went to nightcap with a group of five on a wet and windy Saturday night recently. We were immediately seated in a plush and semi private booth near the door with curtains providing partial concealment. The space is dimly lit but wonderfully decorated and curated. We were helped initially by Austin, who is a very fun and interactive member of the Nightcap team. The drinks were carefully crafted and delivered with friendly banter from Austin. Later, we decided to head over to Granada Bistro on the other side of the hotel to to get a table for dinner. The host let us know all their tables were reserved but if we wanted to wait for about 30 minutes they would work to create some space for us. Meanwhile they offered to continue drink service for us in their waiting area. Next thing I knew we were being whisked back over to Nightcap and Austin was back letting us know that he'd be taking care of us and our dinner orders. He sat us right back in the corner booth we had before we left, even though it was busy at that time. The meals were delicious, the drinks heavenly, and the service prompt and cheeky, just the way we prefer it. Thank you Austin and Grenada for a wonderful evening. We will return. read more

We loved this spot! Super cozy, dark, and intimate vibes. It's more of a college town but this romantic spot was tucked away and perfect for a night out with my fiancé. Zac took amazing care of us and was so informative and attentive, even when the bar got busy later in the night. We never felt overlooked and really appreciated the service! :) We'll definitely be back. Only small note: the music was a little fast-paced and gave Zara/Forever 21 energy. The service was good. The only reason I gave four stars was due to the size of the room. It was the Friday after thanksgiving and from opening until we left it was crowded and loud. Superb craft cocktails among an entire range of spirits to be found that are just amazing by themselves. The ambiance is dark, dimly lit, music swirls from techno to classic rock to mood synth which is perfect for whatever you are drinking. I love trying all the different milk punches available at cocktail bars. It was a very well-balanced milk punch. I do wish it was served with a single ice cube rather than with crushed ice. I also got the zen garden cocktail which came with an ice cube. A nice cocktail with all familiar ingredients. I could tell it is a well loved cocktail bar by tourists and locals alike. Had such an amazing experience that I kind of want to keep this a secret... Drinks/Flavor : 5/5 had the sazerac. Friends all enjoyed their drinks thoroughly as well. Ambience : 5/5 very dark and intimate atmosphere. Semi-faint music playing in the back, but not loud enough to drown out your conversations. Not sure the experience at the bar, but we had a table and we didn't have to shout to talk and other people's conversation didn't spill into ours. Service : 5/5 the water cups are small so the waiters had to make rounds to keep them filled, but they were always there! They were very accomodating when friend asked to see if they can customize her drink. Service with smiles. Very pleasant and good vibes. Wow! Can you say Upscale Class!!! Nightcap is a sweet fancy bar attached to the Granada Hotel & Bistro. I can't believe I haven't been in here before. It's on the opposite side of the Bistro and has a Full Bar with limited bar food (Almonds, Cheese plate, Charcuterie, a combo meat and cheese called "The Granada", and a Cuban Panini). They have the usual top shelf single malts, in addition to some rare vintage cask, high dollar Scotch. A limited selection of wines by the glass, but bottles could be brought over from the Bistro menu. The feel of the bar is cozy, warm, friendly vibe with easy playing music. It's the perfect environment to wind down after work (Tues-Sat 6pm-10pm, 11pm on Fri & Sat) or stop in for a "Nightcap" with your significant other! This is honestly the only bar in SLO that I really, really like. First, the moody decor and ambiance--old-timey, intimate, gorgeous fabrics and wallpaper and dim lighting--set the perfect tone for upscale relaxation. I also appreciate that the music is rad (Sade remix anyone?), but not loud. Every cocktail I've tried, from a classic Manhattan to a creative house concoction, has been balanced, tasty, and fast. The food is awesome--especially the duckfat cornbread (omg) and borracha shrimp. You can come here on a date, with a small group, or even chill at the bar alone and feel totally comfortable. Dress up, dress down, nobody blinks. Service is prompt, professional, and friendly, without being annoyingly chirpy. Plus, they have a full on thoughtful zero proof (read: nonalcoholic) cocktail menu! It's never crazy busy in here, which I love, so maybe don't tell anyone that this is basically a perfect cocktail lounge. read more

My guest and I went to the Granada bar for a cocktail after an amazing dinner at Ox and Anchor. Bear in mind that we are business people in our 60's. The bartender "who apparently thought he was Tom Cruise from the movie Cocktail" was extremely rude to us. After seeing the 4 of us before our wives went to the lobby to wait because there was nowhere to sit, he demanded to "SEE FACES" before he would make their drinks. I understand policies, but it's all in the delivery. We had to bring our wives back into the crowded bar for him to see them. Then he proceeded to go to the opposite end of the bar and have a conversation with others while we patiently waited for our drinks to be made. Unfortunately, we had to stand there and witness his circus cocktail making act. It was painful to watch. After finally getting our drinks and handing him a credit card, instead of running the card, he stated that he would bring the bill to us for some reason. When he finally brought our bill to the lobby, he had the nerve to ask how our drinks were. I also own a bar and restaurant. If ANY of my employees EVER treated a customer the way he did, I would fire them on the spot. After his clown act, he recieved no tip. Perhaps more people should do the same. read more

New classy favorite in downtown SLO for pre/post dinner cocktails for a date night or night out with friends. Granada's styling doesn't disappoint. Everything from the reflective ceiling, leather menus, candle lighting, curtained booths, and gorgeous marble countertops the vibe here is enigmatic. Dare I say, maybe even ahead of the area's time or behind? I'm not sure, but it doesn't feel like you are in San Luis after you walk in. The drinks are their play on classic cocktails with modern techniques and flavors and a story. Pictures attached show the lions pose on the left 19th hole on right. Customer service (Jeff I'm pretty sure) was awesome even though I strolled in late right before closing (after eating dinner next door at Granada which I'll also recommend!). My partner and I came in after dinner to get a drink on a Sunday evening as we are locals in SLO. The bartender working was not very friendly and it was the slowest service we had ever received there. We waited quite a while for the drinks, which too about 15 mins to get, and when finally recieved one of the drinks was made incorrectly which was a simple dry martini. That could have been forgiven, but then a loud, raucous group of woman came in that were clearly intoxicated and continued to be very loud and obnoxious at the bar. They also seemed to know the bartender who of course, served them right away, even though again were completely trashed and should not have been served at all. We quickly paid and left. We love the Granada, have stayed in the hotel multiple times for staycations, and love the restaurant but this is the second poor experience at Nightcap and will not be returning. read more

Sadly, a let down. This used to be a great place with a unique vibe for SLO, but lately it has been awful. I went in last Saturday night and sat at the bar with two friends. Another patron, clearly a friend of the bartenders, sat down, opened his laptop, and proceeded to watch some MMA/Ultimate Fighting event with the volume turned up. It completely killed the entire vibe of Night Cap. If I wanted to go to a sports bar, I would have gone to the Mark. The bartenders were more interested in watching said MMA match on the laptop and were catering to their friends sitting at the bar. Management is lacking and hope they can correct this, otherwise it is yet another run of the mill bar in downtown SLO. read more
