I had a horrifying experience with an employee at frog and peach & want to share my experience to warn others. As my boyfriend & I were leaving, he needed to use the restroom. The mens bathroom is one small open room with a urinal & a toilet, & the door had no lock on it. He didn't feel comfortable with this, as it is designed for one person to use at a time, so he asked me to guard the door from the inside. I needed to use the restroom as well, so he told me he would guard the door while I went. Someone had tried to open the door & we told them the restroom was in use. I'm not sure if this person told an employee, but the next thing we know as I was pulling my pants down, an employee was trying to kick down the door & could have seriously injured my boyfriend as his kick was strong enough to get in the bathroom, and would have definitely injured me had I still been standing in front of the door. As soon as I saw this was an employee acting like this, I yelled out "this is a lawsuit" & of course he stopped. I was absolutely terrified, my boyfriend went outside the door while I finished to make sure nothing else would happen. Once I had finished, I found the employee & began recording for my safety in case he were to physically assault me, since he had no problem being physical before. I asked the employee for his name while we were walking out which he refused to give, said it was "Melanie" then told the bouncer I was in the mens bathroom as we left the establishment. Halfway down the street, a female employee (I assume as no female patrons were involved, & the guy kicking down the door was alerting everyone of the situation) cussed me out, & said something along the lines of calling me a "f*cking b*tch". This experience would have been absolutely terrifying for anyone. There are so many risks & dangers for not having a lock on that door, especially if someone were to be having a health issue they needed to handle in that bathroom. Frog & Peach needs to address the physical aggression of the employee who kicked down the door (picture attached). Had I still been standing in front of the door I would have been seriously injured, & Frog and Peach would have a lawsuit on their hands. Update: I shared my experience on TikTok to try to figure out who this man is & who I can contact about the situation, another employee named Bailey Killough went out of her way to comment on my video & double down. Says a lot about the type of people this place hires, insanely unprofessional. read more

Dropped my hair clip and bent down for just three seconds to pick it up when I got back up and grabbed my drink I saw there was a slight substance on top of my drink. I called the Bartender over and showed him and he said sorry. O thing he can do. He said it's probably just someone's coke that they were gonna snort but it ended up in my drink. I asked for a new drink as he had just made it I had t even been able to take a sip yet. I honestly think the bartender is the one spiking the drinks he gives of vibes that says he doesn't care about consent. I advise all women to never come here and avoid this place. read more

The bartenders are choosy about who they help and who they ignore. Normally love a good dive bar but would skip this location and go to Black Sheep or The Mark instead. BAD service. They don't really have food - they also added a $1 debit/credit surcharge, which was new. But kinda shitty since this used to be the fun spot to go to for a cheap beer and chill time. But not anymore. Not sure why but it felt like bad vibes. It wasnt busy either - and still no one asked me what I wanted to drink. Ultimately - wouldn't recommend because of how unfriendly and mean the bartenders ALL were. A good bartender should greet and ask the customer what they'd like then check back in. This is a great little dive bar in the heart of SLO. Great drinks, great service, great fun. But San Luis Obispo being the college town that it is, the bar scene is a little too amateur for my tastes, especially since I'm no longer a spring chicken LOL. I will say however, that is you like a good pour, the bartenders here do a great job of making sure that you get your money's worth when poring you a drink. I ordered about three or four double Makers and waters here that were spot on. I'd recommend this place solely for that reason alone. Most places you go nowadays are a little tight on their pours. Other than that, this place does get pretty crowded by about 11 pm, so if you're coming out, get here early or you're gonna be wait outside for awhile! Cheers! read more

I am nervous to say this. I, as a mother, who doesn't go out much, always feels a little hesitant to say anything but I just have to. I've been going to Frog since I was a 21. I'm 34. I hadn't been downtown for about 2 years being a mother. Another woman, my sister in law, who hadn't been downtown for about 2 years (since she had her first son) came with me. We were ready to party. We immediately decided in Frog. Once we got to the door, the bounder checked out ID's, handed it back and I grabbed it. And then grabbed it back and asked why I grabbed it. I said I was sorry. Then he looked again, handed it back, he grabbed it, then asked why I grabbed it. It was really weird!! He checked it TWICE. I felt I was doing some thing wrong Because he kept handing it back??? Anyway. We got in. We danced. Bought some drinks then left. About an hour or 2 later, we came back. My sister in law was a bit in front of me. she Said hi to a young woman in line, and the woman waved her off as she was talking to the same bouncer. like a friend.. So we proceeded to show our stamps. the same bouncer told us we couldn't come in. I asked why. He turned my wrist up and down and said idk, you just can't. I said "is it because we are olds women, mothers??" (We are 30 and 34) and worked downtown for years. And he said we have to leave. we couldnt get in. And then I got mad. So we left. We have been patrons for years. Things have changed. But yes, a bouncer right next door said "Will you be my mommy??" like wtf?!!! What happened to downtown. Men can be sexist and not let women in? Damn. Short balled guy and decide nit to let age appropriate women in but I was able to get in under 21?!!! Hmmmm. Makes you wonder.... read more

Frog & Peach is a dive bar that is located right in the heart of downtown SLO. It is extremely popular with students and alumni - almost any weekend you can find a group of friends reliving their college glory days. The inside is very dark, so I definitely don't recommend it during the day. However at night, the place comes alive and often times has live music. They are especially well known for pint night on Tuesday nights. Bring your own pint glass and beers are discounted! It's definitely a fun concept. This isn't the best place to come if you are looking to dance to hip hop or clubbing music, rather it is a place to just hang out. They have a fun patio out back that is a great place to get some fresh air. It even has a bar with a few drink options if you don't want to fight the crowd back in. This place is a downtown SLO staple. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would the front door staff was the most extremely rude employee I have ever encountered. I waited in line with my daughters and their friends and when we got to the front of the line he said to I am not letting you in you cut the line!!!! He actually accused me of cutting the line. I'm 56 years old I drove three hours to see my kids and celebrate Mother's Day weekend. the guy working the door was simply mean. I tried to calmly talk to him but he walked away from me. I truly feel it was ageism. it wasn't worth our time to try to reason with this rude employee. The bouncer intentionally snapped my ID in half 24 hours prior to me having to board a flight back to Chicago after I called him out for snapping one of my friend's IDs really hard when checking them. The situation almost seemed racially motivated because my friend, who is Caucasian that entered the bar first did not have his ID corner snapped on. However, my friend who is from Pakistan, had his ID snapped really hard, which I called the bouncer out on. I approached the manager about the situation- I received no reimbursement for the fact that they broke my ID and they didn't seem to care much. read more

Nice little pub in downtown SLO. Not in the same class as Spike's but a nice selection of beer on tap and the Guinness is always fresh because they sell a lot of it. Service is okay but not great--not rude but not a great deal of hustle and also not particularly friendly. A big plus is the outdoor patio, which makes this one of the very few places in SLO where one can get a drink and smoke a cigar. (Another is McCarthy's--and that might be the only other place this is allowed.) However, the back patio is usually a mess. Even at opening time, there was still a lot of trash and garbage on the back patio which apparently had only been half-heartedly cleaned up from the night before. Still, they have tables with umbrellas to provide shade which makes it a much better choice to have a stick lately since McCarthy's took down the covering from their smoking patio. read more

This will be short and sweet . . . I like the Frog & Peach for one reason: drinking a black & tan and sitting in the window, watching the world go by. On a sunny day w/ a mild breeze, I can think of no better activity to finish up a trip to SLO. As for the establishment? Bartenders have always been efficient and friendly. They are laid back, and that certainly transcends to the general atmosphere of the pub. I have only been to F&P on weekend afternoons, never at night, so I can offer no opinion on the nightlife scene. Bottom line: F&P is my favorite stop on a weekend afternoon in SLO . . . I went out here a couple of times to buy some drinks but last couple of times I came out here the bartender and staff were unbelievably rude. Looking at other yelp reviews it seems to be a common place here. I bought a few drinks for me and my friends and I asked the staff for some darts, he asks for my ID and I give it to him. The thing is he starts throwing my ID around and abusing the hell out of it for no reason. The same guy was yelling at people trying to have fun and constantly getting in peoples faces. If I could give 0 stars I would. Last Thursday (5/4/23) the bouncer told me my ID was not me in my REAL WA ID. After having the Cops come and verify that it was in fact a REAL WA ID he told me he had the RIGHT to refuse me to enter. When I asked him what I had done he laughed in my face and the cops told me that unfortunately there was nothing they could do. Even though they verified my ID was real, this bouncer was allowed to deny me entry and likely loses this establishment a lot of business due to his unprofessional attitude. A friend I was with had already gotten in and had a stamp and he refused to let her in again as well. If he is any indication of the way Frog & Peach runs their establishment stay away ladies these short, conceited, insecure men can get away with "anything." This place was dark and gloomy. So dark that you really couldn't see the corners of the building. The bartender was nice. They had some TVs on playing the football game. The prices were ok. Corona was $4 bucks and some change. The bathrooms were gross. Wads of toilet paper stuck on the wall. Mind you I was there on a Sunday around noon. Bathroom should have been clean.
