Bocce Ball Court
Renee N.

No one had to twist my arm to check out this high bar with sweeping views of the coastal mountains and golden rolling hills. My daughter and I came here for dinner/drinks after shopping at the Farmers Market. It is located on the very top floor of the Hotel San Luis Obispo. It is a gorgeous wide open space with epic views, a bocce ball court, bar seating, high tops and table seating. We got there just in time to capture the last light of the sunset. We enjoyed a delicious Hot Honey pizza with a French 75 drink and a glass of white wine. Everything was so tasty and the ambiance from this location was very relaxing. Service was attentive and friendly. Good music played which added to the laid back vibe and we really didn't want to leave. Cannot wait to return and the next time, we will play some bocce ball.

Took forever, didnt feel welcomed. Server was okay. Food was mid as hell. The rooftop is beautiful though with games and is kept very clean.

Finally got a chance to try out this place. We arrived and sat up at the rooftop after asking the front desk where we needed to go. No one was up on the roof. 10-15 min after 2:00, someone shows up. I overhear the guy telling the couple who was also waiting that they were closed for a private party. They didn't mention this on social media, website, Yelp, or nor did they have a sign. The staff wasn't even aware of the event. We already paid for 4-hour parking on the street. Mondays are usually half-off pizzas, and they plan an event. I asked if they would honor it at the restaurant, and they said no. Bad customer service and horrible scheduling. Don't schedule a private event on a Monday when you do your most business or at the least, announce it. Waste of time and money!

the pizza was amazing, egg roll was alright, though I wished they had larger menu with a salad and greens options. the view is beautiful though and i'm glad the rooftoo is heated! service was great: servers were attentive and always checking in on us

Stopped by High Bar on a Monday for their half-off pizza deal and was really impressed. I've been to Piadina several times and thought I'd tried it all, but finally gave the Maui Wowie a shot (pineapple, pepperoni, and jalapeños), which usually isn't my favorite combo. The flavors actually worked so well together! We also ordered the fries, which are always great, but the pizza was definitely the best value. The blueberry mojito and the highbar spiked lemonade was amazing too, super refreshing and something I'd definitely come back for. Great food, good vibes, and a great deal on Mondays!

Truffle fries - nice crisp, not as light as I'd hoped, truffle flavor is present a lovely Fries - taste fried from frozen, a let down Mushroom - very truffle flavor, great mushroom texture Cheese - pretty good, lotta herb and cheese flavor, it's a cheese pizza not a cheesy pizza Brussels sprout - solid but it's just Brussel sprouts, blue cheese, and bacon on cheese bread and not any type of pizza Szechuan - really embodies the world Szechuan = poorly represented and translated. It tastes like a soy sauce shiitaki pizza. It's flavor profile belongs in an American fusion instant ramen Overall - dough was nice, crispy and airy, little flop

We came on Monday to check out the half off pizza deal. The service here can be improved, our party felt like it was a bother every time we asked for something and we weren't being needy and were polite. I feel like usually restaurants pay attention to larger groups, especially when gratuity is already included. It was interesting that we weren't started off with waters when every table around us had waters. They seated our party of 8 on the couch, we barely fit there sitting with our drinks so eating there was not ideal. We asked to be moved, but still the table was small for us. We had to keep pizza boxes on our lap or the floor, it was bulky and uncomfortable. Everything came out at an appropriate time, we didn't have to wait too long. The pizza was good and can be shareable between two people for a lighter meal. The drinks come out super cold, very refreshing and my ideal ice amount. The staff downstairs at Piadina and Hotel SLO were great, but the High Bar service needs to be improved. ig: @cravingswithcat

Mushroom Truffle Pizza

Highly recommend dining on a Monday for their 1/2 off pizza deal! We ordered the mushroom pizza and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza came straight out of the oven and had the perfect ratio of toppings, sauce, and crust. The pepperoni was also solid, but we thought the mushroom was by far the best out of the ones we tried. It's impossible not to eat the truffle fries which are so flavorful and seasoned perfectly. We loved how crispy and salty these fries are, and the portion is definitely shareable for the whole table. I also ordered a margarita which was good. Sometimes their cocktails can run on the sweeter side, but overall they are yummy. Sometimes there is a wait for a table, but I've never experienced anything over 10 minutes. Service is nothing spectacular but the staff is friendly and the food comes out quick. For the views of SLO and quality of food/drinks, I'd consider it a great spot for a date night, girls night, or celebration/gathering with friends. The Monday pizza deals are a MUST try!

the cheese pizza was okay, I think I was just expecting better tbh. the crust was pretty thin & it just didn't taste like much lol. I think if ur looking for a pizza place in downtown slo definitely check out antonia's (it's also cheaper). But the views here were amazing & service was super attentive!

Coolest place in SLO! Stopped in last night for a night cap with a couple friends and had a great experience! Our server Xandria was such a light and provided such excellent service! She recommended the Ocean Air and it was one of the best and most refreshing drinks I've ever had! Definitely coming back!

I was directed by some young men to check out a spot and when I did I realized it was your late night drunk pizza slice joint. Not what I wanted so I left there empty handed too. I was defeated and starving and was considering walking back to my hotel and door dashing junk when all of a sudden, a girl turns the corner of the block I'm standing at with a pizza box in her hands. I said "Yo girl where did you get that pizza from and are they still open!?" She said, "Antonia's and yes!" I told her I tried getting there before but my maps got me lost and she told me it was down by the Barnes and Noble, hidden from the street, which makes sense why I didn't see it on the main drag. So in I go, it's small, it's cute, it looks like people are making magic happen in the back. I am greeted by the owner of the place and I told him I wanted to order some pizza. I definitely came to the right place. They had a personal pizza, exactly what I wanted and so many options! I made small talk with the guy, told him I was from New York and he insisted I come back to let him know what I thought and then told me his pizza is very different from New York Pizza. So this is me coming back to tell you what I thought. You rock and your pizza ROCKS. I had trouble deciding which to get and he guided me. I went with the Margherita despite him telling me it was simple and straightforward. That's exactly what I wanted. He told me to get the SLO crust, which was a house made crust seasoned with herbs and spices, oregano and garlic, he insisted it had the most flavor the one I should go with, so I did. They had SO many crust options and pizza options like: meat lovers, Hawaiian, veggie, greek, mediterranean, bbq chicken and many more. I also ordered sweet potatoe fries which is so wild for me because I never do that but I was on vacation and this place gave me happy good vibes. He said it would be about 20 minutes so I took a walk and when I came back it was ready and like $35. Woof. I thought that was expensive kind of but also I ordered a pizza to myself and fries so I was just really hoping it was worth it. Spoiler alert: it was SO WORTH IT. I got back to my hotel, took the pizza and sweet potato fries and garlic sauce on the side went out onto my balcony and was in absolute vacation heaven. The pizza WAS SO GOOD and SO different. It was unlike any pizza I had ever had before and so not my style but I loved it. The crust was soft but thick and fluffy but also had crunch, the flavors were insane and the fresh basil on top delish. This was a specialty pizza place exactly what I wanted. The sweet potato fries were stupid. Probably the best sweet potatoes fries I have ever had. I am so glad that random girl turned the corner with the pizza box when she did. And this place is OPEN TIL 2 AM. Quality quality place. I hope this guy kills it, everyone go here.

I was only in San Luis Obispo for one night, it was my first time visiting I was doing a road trip up the coast and the goal of my trip was to see beautiful beaches, eat amazing food and try the coolest local coffee shops. I walked to this restaurant from my hotel and wanted to grab a seat at the bar. It was 9:20 on the dot when I walked in, was happy to see they were open until 10. Now I worked in restaurants, both casual and fine dining for years. I know you don't stroll into a restaurant at 9:45, 9:50 when they close at 10. Have I had customers do it? Of course, but I don't do it. I also knew exactly what I wanted to order because I looked up the menu in advance. I don't drink, I definitely would have been in and out before other tables had finished. Plus when I walked in, it was a semi-full restaurant. This was a Saturday night by the way. I walked in and said hey I was just going to sit at the bar and grab pizza your kitchen is still open right? The hostess got uncomfortable and said, "Yeah we are closing now, sorry." I said, "Oh really that's a bummer I just wanted some pizza." Hoping she would say yeah of course we are still open for another FORTY minutes. But she didn't. I asked if she had any recommendations for late night food and she gave me the name of a pizza dive that you would pick up drunk slices from. What a bummer. I don't know places that turn people away for food on a Saturday night 40 minutes before closing.

We chose the Cucina for dinner...they also have the Club next door which is not as formal, has a store of products, and some tables for eating. The Cucina has a bigger menu and tables are covered with white table cloths and linen napkins so a step up ambiance. Our server, Maricella, was very pleasant and friendly and stopped by several times throughout our meal to check on us and see if we needed anything. We started with the Caesar Salad and added Spanish Anchovy. I was not a fan of the dressing unfortunately...found it to be bland and really not like other dressings I've had. The salad itself was fresh with large chunks of romaine lettuce, a sprinkle of both ground and shaved parmesan cheese and a few (just a few!) croutons. The anchovies were tasty, not fishy in the least, but it really was the dressing that turned me off. Wife said it was "ok". I decided on the Linguine Vongole and was surprised at how many whole clams were in my bowl! The pasta is housemade and not a flat linguine or more of a rugged thick spaghetti noodle. It was cooked well and the clams were good although a few were a bit tough. I also think the sauce needs a huge boost of lemon; I had also requested no chili flake be added. Wife had the Ravioli di Zucca, which was butternut squash filled pasta with a sage and parmesan cream sauce. It was good...although I felt it was sweet, she loved it. The sauce was creamy and flavorful and the pasta was soft and filled with a nice squash filling. We ended our dinner with a shared plate of Spumoni, which was like nothing we've had before. Their Spumoni is layered with a white cake-like layer and then the typical ice creams (chocolate, pistachio, and vanilla). There was a light squeeze of the cherry topping and small chocolate chips. It was good...needs much more of the cherry topping! Family had the Nonna's Meatballs and this was fabulous! Their sauce was sooo good and had a great balance of the tomato flavored marinara sauce. Really good and next time I'll stick with something with their marinara sauce. Good meal overall and I want to try Club next time.

We ended up pre-ordering online the night before and we got the Loaded Veg pizza. All they sell are whole 16" pies, which I don't mind since Pizza is my 3rd favorite food (behind sushi and Japanese bbq). I don't usually get veggie pizzas for 2 reasons. First of all, I love meat. Second, vegetables on pizza usually are mushy and don't taste fresh. I got it because my gf is pescatarian so it seemed like a good choice for both of us to share. I've had pizza at several notable places (thinking of Ceres NYC, Pizzeria Sei LA, Quarter Sheets LA, etc.). They brought the pizza box out to me, and I took a glance inside and knew I was about to feast. I didn't want to wait to get back to the hotel so my gf and I just sat in my trunk and ate it. There are very few restaurants where the first bite of food takes my breath away. I sat there in silence and proceeded to finish the whole slice in a matter of seconds while my gf and I just nodded with major satisfaction at one another. The dough was incredible (light, thin, crispy). The sauce and cheese ratio was perfect, not too overpowering, not too much, just the right amount as a base and glue to hold the toppings in place. The toppings (the veg), were fresh, vibrant, flavorful, purposeful. Everything was exploding with flavor, it was so simple, but so incredible. I wanted to run back inside and order another pizza but they were closing and I felt bad. We got a side of vegan ranch, it had fresh herbs and tasted so creamy, thick, and tangy despite being vegan. We demolished that pizza and the only thought I kept having was how much I wanted another one. The store is super cool, great music, cool lighting and vibes. The people are super polite, friendly, and professional. It legit felt like every single person in that place was happy to be there. More importantly, I think they were so passionate and saw their pizza creations as art. I would dream and aspire to have a place like this myself one day. I'm so sad this is so far away from OC (where I'm visiting from) because I genuinely want to eat this every week. I'll just have to drive up lol. Cheers to the team here, incredible work. You made my day. You gave me the opportunity to try the best thin slice pizza of my life thus far.
