I had to maneuver keeping the stall door closed while I used the toilet. There were spider webs and I'm not sure the bathroom had been cleaned since well ever. The food basic bar food. The perch basket is what it looks like, fried food. Being the majority of clientele are probably 25 and under I'm sure this is a cool bar. The back corner made me feel like I was in a cave bc there is no light. Oh and the tvs cmon let's ditch the small screens that are reminiscent of 2004. Time to upgrade. Usually go to this place for cheap drinks on Saturdays, decided to try the food on a Friday night and enjoy the World Cup game as it was advertised on their instagram and by the huge sign in the parking lot. Incredibly dull atmosphere for a Friday night and had to ask to put the game on as it was starting. The food was genuinely the worst I've ever had, burgers were completely charred and near inedible. The chicken tenders were extremely overcooked, hard as rocks, 90% breading and 10% chicken. The texture was similar (or maybe worse) than chicken jerky. Came to spend quality time with my family on Friday night. We had a great time. We spent $146.28. We paid. We left. We thought this was the end of it. As of yesterday we seen a fraudulent charge of $89.04 being charged to our account randomly on Tuesday. We tried to call and resolve this issue but the Manager, or RAINA thought this wasn't serious enough to call us back or resolve this issue. DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR CARD INFORMATION TO THIS BAR! They will charge you for things you did not consume. We came here two weeks in a row with no issues. I was very polite and understanding when explaining this to RAINA. If you are a family who would like to join your college student for a night out, DO NOT go here. Our family who had people in their 40s, 50s and 60s were accused of doing something we did not do. We were on our way out and a group of young men were in our faces screaming at us and wanted to fight. The bouncers seemed to be friends with them and could not do their job so the police had to be called so they would leave us alone. During this the bouncers were calling us names and did not want to hear our side. Don't make the same mistake we did and read the reviews after. It seems this is very common. I think it is safe to say that I will not be returning after the experience that I had last night. I was on the dance floor with my boyfriend and a group of his friends that I've become close with, and some random girl tried to hit on him. When he told her that I was right behind him, she tried to assault him. She then tried to assault everybody else in our group, including me, and she even got aggressive with people not in our group. Staff didn't do anything until someone called security. It got to the point where I had an anxiety attack and had to walk out of the room. Lets talk about a few of the many problems this place has 1. Randomly changing dress code that makes no sense, I think its supposed to keep the townies out but I don't see how that would work since they can also conform to it. I've also never seen it posted anywhere so you find out when you get to the front of the line what the bouncer is felling that night. Once had to go back to the car just to put pants on like this was some sort of classy establishment or something and not just a college bar. Also jerseys are supposedly not allowed (even WMU ones) but I have seen people wearing jerseys inside all the time. Speaking of townies there will be random parent age couples and old men who arrive before they start checking college Id's on Saturday just hanging out too so its not like its all college kids anyway. Its creepy that these local old men have nowhere better to be on a Saturday and want to be amongst the college kids at a bar like this if you ask me. 2. Get ready to wait for at least 15 minutes for a single drink. Male or female, it makes no difference. They have 4 bartenders for about 80 people at any given moment. This is a problem because Im liable to sober up by the time I get my next drink and it makes getting drunk inconvenient if you don't pregame. 3. They check Id's a little too seriously. I get that its nice to go to a place that you know everyone is actually 21 at. It's not happened to me but they are known for accidentally confiscated actual Id's and having to have the cops come to get it back. I've also know people who have had two forms of Id still get denied for no reason. Not sure what underage college kid has two different forms of fake ID and would care enough to get into a bar. In the end I would sum up the library as a frat party you need to pay to get into. Theres nothing to do but order drinks and go on the dance floor. By the time you get there all the seating and pool tables will be locked down so "dancing" is your only option. You can get the exact same experience down the road at the frats and bring your own alcohol. Im giving two stars instead of 1 because they don't skimp on security which is pretty necessary at a place this size in a town like this and they do make strong drinks and don't mess around. If your paying $10 for a drink it better be 80% alcohol and they don't disappoint in that regard. read more

Been a loyal customer on sat for 20 yrs. The food portions vary every time I order and recently the new staff disappears takes to long to order or even cash out. When I asked about my order not having the sauce that comes with it the waitress said you gotta say please ,but I asked when I ordered. Absolute shit stain of a place. I came to Western to visit a buddy staying with his girlfriend. We came here for a chill dinner before hitting some bars. We hung out here for an hour + and then a bouncer told us we needed to leave "immediately" because my friend was wearing "athletic wear". Straight up - he was wearing $150 LuLu Lemon men's sweat pants and their "dress code" forbids this while their bartenders parade around in LuLu Lemon leggings. The food was bad overall (crappy tacos, mediocre chicken), but it was about as expected. This is a dive bar in a college town on Western Michigan, no ones going in with high expectations, but to be asked to leave over an invisible dress code while we were patiently waiting for a check felt ridiculous. On our way out another friend of mine heckled the bouncer and THEN THE GUY ASSAULTED HIM. No lie, the guy put my buddy in a headlock because he said he dressed like he lived in a trailer park and was jealous of our buddy's pants. Granted, the comment was unnecessary, but we should have called the police. The bouncer here needs rehab. He threatened two girls we were with, but said "look I don't want to hurt you". Wow. Thanks dude. You're really tough threatening two girls but warning them that you "don't want to hurt them". The guys gonna end up in prison as a domestic abuser, if he's lucky. Just avoid this place. 5/10 food and downright bad people. read more

Even though I know some bartenders here, I avoid coming here when possible. Average wait time for a drink at the bar on a busy night varies from 15-20min. While the drinks are adequate, and despite the fact they receive a large volume of traffic -- their management still refuses to address this. These issues don't exist on dead days or during the lunch hour, but food for thought. read more

It's been six years that we have been going to this bar traditionally and along the way, we just fell off. Most of our college friends moved away but whenever they are in town, this is a religious catch up place for all of us. Good old place. We missed the old dance floor though but we haven't been here at night times anymore. I just wished they put in a little effort to clean the tables and the bathrooms. It is not an eye candy and pleasant even during the day. The service at the bar can be a hit and miss but mostly, it's pretty quick. Half off everything on Saturdays until midnight!! Who can beat that? Sometimes, they have $1 beers as well. Say no more, let's go. This is the college bar that serves good portion of food even though they do half off on Saturdays. Beer is good drinks are okay but if you change your hours please update them online because me and some friends showed up the other night at 11 and they refused to serve us even though online it states they are open till 2 am. Couldn't resist this offer. I didn't have high hopes, but boy was I wrong. The perch basket was very good. 5 perch strips, tater tots or fries, & coleslaw all for $6.25 on Saturday (normally $12.50). I'd give zero stars if i could. Wasn't allowed in because my ID was "fake". Real IDs apparently dont have chips in them yet Minnesota IDs do. We recently took my son and his girlfriend to this place for dinner on a Friday night and had a terrific dinner! On Fridays they offer a $6 pizza that's plenty for two people! Their beer list is great and happy hour prices were very reasonable on well drinks. The rest of us had burgers (really good) and their panini subs with fries , also very inexpensive and large portions. Our servers on both visits were friendly and very good; we want to give a shout out to Paige for being extra welcoming! We plan to come back for one of their Trivia or Game nights soon! read more

Go here during the day on Saturdays for cheap beer and food. Although other reviewers had mixed feelings on staff, out waitress was pleasant and easy going. We went in the earlier part of the afternoon following a WMU basketball game, and didn't find it to be crowded. It picked up as the afternoon went on. The Library is an alright place to go. I've been here a couple times. One of the most insane experiences is coming here on college night. It's absolutely insane. It's kind of a shit show lmao. I've been here other times as well. The food is pretty much typical bar food. The service is alright. On some nights, you can come in to watch the game and it's pretty chill. On other nights, it's jam packed and basically like a club. It's not the cleanest place and if I remember correctly their were bathroom stalls without doors on them. I use to love going to library for food -but I feel like quality has decreased greatly in the past 3 or so years. For example, they use to have the best chicken tenders I'd EVER had (and I'm a chix finger snob). Huge portion of juicy and tender chicken in a beautiful batter. Now, they make them ahead and double fry them. They're borderline burnt with moist centers and dry fibrous outsides. The fries are also often burned and sometimes taste like they refry old fries to freshen them up. Wait staff is very slow and very forgetful. It never used to be this way, it's sad. I'm sure we'll keep going Saturday's when the food is half off, but I wouldn't pay those prices during the week; perhaps that's why they aren't busy during the week? read more
