Nice classic old fashion looking bar with all the dart boards. Large beer selection with good food. I enjoyed the personal pan meat lovers pizza. The bartenders were extremely helpful with local craft beers for my flight. The Spencer's IPA was tasty along with the Founders Session IPA and the So Heffen Good. A lot of unique names beers at this establishment. If I wasn't there for a work social and driving my boss around, I'd definitely would of tried a lot more local beers. I like to think we had a bad experience here and maybe if we return it will be better? We came in early in the evening and it was a little busy, at least for a weeknight. Some of our party's drinks took about 20 min to come out, while there was staff visibly socializing with other patrons. Our server apologized and subsequent drinks didn't take quite as long since we just ordered 2 at a time to avoid the wait. We decided to try eating here, and were pretty disappointed. The chicken quesadilla was ok, nothing out of this world. The BBQ chicken pizza was disappointing, since it came with jalapeños on it, which wasn't specified on the menu or we would have ordered it without. My friend that i was sharing the pizza with has very bad heartburn and jalapeños really set it off. Maybe they should have been mentioned in the menu description? I'm sure we will come back and try again another time, as there aren't many places downtown and previously we haven't had problems here, but not sure if it'll be one of my first picks anymore. read more

Absolutely magnificent. We recently hosted a family event at the club and it was flawless. Food was magnificent, well presented, everything ran like clockwork and the staff was ON POINT all eventing. I can't recommend them enough. I have also been there many times for dinner and drinks and never been disappointed. Craft cocktails done to perfection and a wide variety of beer as well. The Cricket Club is one of the most popular bars in Battle Creek, and rightfully so. Fun fact: the bar is the longest continuous bar in the state of Michigan. The atmosphere is fun, the establishment is clean, and the service is fantastic. My parents like a certain wine that only two places in Battle Creek have. When the owner inquired about what he needed to do to get my father's business, my father said getting their favorite wine. The next day my father got a text from the owner saying that the Cricket Club would now always carry that wine. The building is very large. The downstairs is spacious with a beautifully ornate bar, multiple dart boards, an air hockey table, multiple televisions, and plenty of tables. There is also an upstairs where they host private and public events (i.e. stand up comedy night). I have not yet tried the food that they have, I have been told that they have just started serving food, but when I have tried it I will update my review! Overall the Cricket Club is a nice place to meet up with friends and play some bar games and a place that will go the extra mile for you. read more

I'm not from Battle Creek, but my parents live there. Given that my daughter is also in Michigan, I am in BC quite often. This is a World Class bar!!! My only fear is that when ANYTHING top shelf moves into Downtown BC, the locals don't support it with the vigor that they should. Here is why you will like the Cricket Club (three reasons, but there are many more). 1. Selection - I am not certain of exact numbers, but at least 50 beers on tap. And whoever is choosing knows their beers! Shorts, Bells, Founders and many more great locals on tap. I hate when I go to bars (Griffin nearby is an example) and they've got many beers on tap - all boring and second rate (think Stella, Sam Adams, etc.). Not here. To top it off, they've got great, great liquor selection on the bar as well. I lived in Chicago for three years - and never once found a bar with this level of sophisticated selection. 2. Price - My wife and I ordered a couple pints of Shorts beer in the afternoon. Shorts is usually about the most expensive beer we can order - but well worth it. The bartender "$5 please". My reply, "Each?" (assuming even that was cheap). His reply "Total". How a place this upscale and nice can charge not just fair, but GREAT prices for their products is a mystery to me. 3. Service - We always feel whenever we visit that we've got a personal bartender, a smiling person, and almost like a new friend that is serving us. You never wait for your next drink, you always get attention - and there is no pretension whatsoever in their service. My only complaint is that they don't have a Cricket Club in Dallas! The bartender/manager JB was EXTREMELY rude. Slamming drinks down so hard people were getting splashed, pocketed money from drinks instead of putting it in the till, drink prices changed every 5 minutes for the same drink, I watched him making drinks and wasn't even putting alcohol in the drinks or half shots and charging $7 for almost all the drinks, people were being ignored when waiting for drinks, pretty sure vodka was watered down, were told only half of the bar seating was going to be served and the other side would just have to fucking wait. Horrible experience everybody there said they won't be recommending this place to anybody. Just out right horrible. Its a shame you pay so much to rent it out and then the staff acts like that to their customers and embezzles money from the place. Going to tell everybody to stay clear of this god awful place. read more

Great bar in downtown BC. Very clean, nicely designed and with plenty of beers on tap this bar has nearly everything you would want. The only thing holding back a rave review is the lack of traditional bar foods. There are small snacks, but nothing substantial. The spacious Cricket Club is a great addition to Battle Creek's lackluster selection of bars and entertainment. Indeed, the selection of beer must come from an experienced pallet, as their selection includes many of my own favorites from around the country and beyond. The price is reasonable and the door staff is friendly. There's nothing particularly extraordinary about the bar and wait staff, and still there's nothing to complain about either. Plenty of parking behind the building allows for a good number of patrons. The dart boards make for good, wholesome fun. The bar tacos are a great compliment too. read more

I've been here a couple dozen times over the past couple of years. It's close to work, so it's a go-to spot for after work get-togethers. Quick and attentive service at the bar, even with large crowds. The upstairs area is really nice for private events- there's another large bar up there, and there's plenty of additional seating on both sides of the bar as well as small tables. My wife and sister in law went there one night a couple weekends ago and it was the evening of the Caribbean fest downtown, anyways my wife and I do not particularly like going to the cricket club anyways but my sister in law was intrigued so we stopped in to see what was happening. There was a reggae dj spinning some hip hop and r and b and some reggae songs which was pretty great and the beer we had was excellent cause my wife and i had some beer from territorial which was on tap there and so we were pretty pleased with that. The atmosphere was pretty great as well so we thought maybe it isn't so bad and we were all dancing and having a good time. That is until I had to use the restroom. upon entering said restroom, I was accosted and threatened by a man coming out of the stall and looked right at me and told me that i was wearing a fake smile and that i would be seeing a lot of "black people" tonight and that i would want to show a real smile when encountering said people or something "bad might happen to me". Before the person left the bathroom he also said it's something to keep in mind. I am happy always and never show a fake smile to anyone so i was not only confused when he said this I felt quite frightened and threatened, So after I got done in the bathroom, I quickly walked up to my family and explained to them what happened and we then promptly left. I am inclined to refrain from speaking positively about the Cricket Club, but only because I don't want it to become so popular that it becomes overrun with patrons; I like a moderately low key pub to enjoy with a few special friends. But in all fairness, this is by far my favorite pub in Battle Creek. Ambiance, beverage selection and staff are exceptionally appealing. The decor is top quality classic drinking establishment window area seating, spacious game area (darts) and an upstairs lounge. The bar has an awesome selection of liquor and maybe dozens of draft beers (not sure about the number), as well as various other choices. The staff are courteous and knowledgable, and willing to assist patrons in the choices of drinks and snacks. Highly recommended for any thirsty soul who appreciates quality. read more

Amazing. Beautiful bar carved out of cherry wood, a lot of attention to detail looks like it was paid in the design. I'm blown away by the extraordinary taste in the (50+) beers on tap. Plenty of familiar microbrews and obscure (and delicious) Michigan craft brews. Good taste in alternative music, very rarely will you hear any Top 40 blaring over your conversations. There's a few TVs and plenty of dart boards lining the walls to liven the experience. The upstairs is also well put together and a more contemporary vibe, but not usually very popular. Good to go to with a group when you want to stay on your own, I guess. Waitstaff is usually on point and doesn't let you wait too long. Overall, great experience and a favorite bar. read more
