I take the early class and I'm always greeted, by name. When I miss a class, they check on me and it feels like my success is their success. My friend told me to come meet her, and gave me the heads up to buy hand wraps online to save money. So I did that. When I arrived I checked in. I was told first class I could rent boxing gloves for free. After that it's $5 rental. I asked "how does this work" about the class and workout. I was given a brief explanation and then I requested help with wrapping my new hand wraps. That went fine. Then the teacher called everyone into the back gym area. No greeting or checking in with me that I'm new. We just went to work. Now for me, this was all fine. I workout a lot and I do other group classes elsewhere and have a personal trainer, so I'm very aware how to workout without hurting myself and I pick stuff up pretty easily because I have a foundational base of safely lifting weights and body mechanics. But for someone new to fitness this class would have been a lot to grasp and not injure oneself by doing too much or using poor technique. (Since I was given no instruction). Long story short, Rumble is a cool boxing gym but maybe could use some encouragement to check in with new folks for any questions and give a high level overview, with a brief tutorial on how to safely do the moves (aka punches). I'll definitely go back, as I said it's a good and hard workout. I attended via ClassPass as I do most things, maybe that is why the experience was different? But either way, I've been to other places where they (meaning front desk staff and teachers) are more accommodating to a new person in their gym.

When I was looking for a boxing class to attend in the East Valley, I looked at all the suggestions on Yelp, Facebook groups, and even the social media accounts of the locations. When I look for a boxing class, I want to learn technique, get a solid workout, and have fun. I'm not looking for a cardio kickboxing class or an ultra-intense boxing class for high-level boxers. I enjoy the workout, and I enjoy the movements. If you're wondering if you would fit in with the boxing classes, I would say that there are all shapes, ages, and levels at the classes I've been to. I've done drills with high schools, people that are middle-aged, and even those older than me. Everyone is welcome at UKF, and the coaches make sure you work within your level. They wouldn't partner you up with someone much more advanced or vice-versa. I purchased a ten-session package after I did the free one-day trial, and it has been a great investment, IMO. I always finish drenched in sweat, and from what I've heard, some other guys that track their caloric output are pushing 700+ calories burned in a one-hour session. One of the cooler things that I've seen is the kid's classes. The few times I've gone in the evening, it's right after the kid's classes, and these kids ROCK! They have the footwork and pack a punch! I haven't been at Bodi since the beginning but I have been a member for over 5 years and I definitely love that place! There are multiple options of classes that incorporate strength and cardio, yoga, heated mat Pilates and boxing (now Hyrox based class and straight lifting classes). They have expanded to 3 studios to offer all those classes, which is amazing! There's always a variety of exercises to hit the main muscles groups and the accessory muscle groups. The recovery room is super convenient to use after a class or on a rest day. Variety of class times to meet a large range of schedules. They truly value their members and community and are constantly finding ways to benefit the members even more. It can always be a little intimidating trying a new gym or class but I think they do a great job at trying to make everyone feel welcome & it's generally easy to follow along if feeling lost during a workout. The coaches bring so much energy & fun to the classes as well. Bodi is very affordable in comparison to other gyms (especially if you catch one of their sales around holidays). My only con so far is that, in my experience, the trainers haven't been very engaged with the class or offered much guidance on form. One of the things I love most about group fitness is when instructors hype up the room & shouting out members, offering motivation, or demoing the moves alongside the class instead of just in the beginning and I haven't really seen that yet. That said, the staff are all super friendly, the gym offers so much more than just strength training (which I'm excited to explore), and the playlists are a solid 10/10. If you're in Scottsdale or just want to try a new gym I highly recommend this one!
