Not impressed! Went there for lunch Saturday, got there when they opened. We were seated at a dirty table. Had to ask for the table to be cleaned and when the kid came out he was just flicking the food scraps off. Told him to just give me the rag and I'd clean it myself. As always, the BEST fried crab claws around. I've grown up on the Gulf Coast and have had plenty of fresh seafood all my life, including fried crab claws. These are consistently the best crab claws I've ever had. I no longer eat them anywhere else. They're always large and fried to perfection... always. The seafood gumbo quality and taste has dropped off though. Very little seafood. Such a shame because I used to consider it some of the best gumbo. Several of us ate there tonight and ordered a variety of food. First the good. The crab claws were large and delicious although very expensive. The fried shrimp were 60% breading, 40% shrimp and did not taste fresh at all. A couple of people got the hamburger steak. It was ok but nothing special. It had some old very tough onions that were inedible and the baked potato was cold. The stale roll was right out of the pack. The service was average. Not bad. Not extra good. All in all this place definitely did not live up to its reviews and I don't plan on going back. There are much better places to eat. read more

Food, service and price were great but what I like the most today was when I looked around mostly everyone was eating and enjoying time with their family or group and not on there phones very rare to see these days. Get there early to avoid long lines. It felt like a family run restaurant and the ambiance very friendly with most customers being local or returning customers. We will be returning customers soon. We ordered crab cakes, & catfish dinners with a small crab claws and an order of onion rings way too much food for two. Honestly the bad review doesn't come from the food it's always delicious and the best seafood you will find in mobile it's really a hidden treasure but the wait and costumer service is awful I went with 2 other people and we sat and waited for 40 minutes before we got drinks after getting our drinks we immediately put in our food order mine came out by it's self about 30 minutes later but the other people in my group didn't receive there's until a HOUR after I got mine and I'm most cases I wouldn't make a big deal out of it but one of the main dishes that was ordered was a salad that took a hour and a half to come out which was very upsetting then we also didn't get the sides that came with the other dish so I ofc complained and ended up just getting a side salad because they apparently ran out completely instead of our waitress telling us we spoke to 3 different people and only saw her twice the entire time we where there no drink refills or anything and this has happened the past 2 times I have been I definitely wouldn't recommend unless you have a lot of spare time on your hands read more

Had lunch there and it was pretty well packed at 11:30 on a Tuesday. Our server, Tonia was very good. Another server pitched in to get our drink orders before Tonia got to us, even though we had barely gotten seated. I love when servers take care of the customers and don't worry about who's table it is. We had fried seafood platter and fish. All was very good especially the crab claws. OK, so I had heard that their crab claws were the BEST.... I was skeptical, how much difference can there be in one crabs claw dipped and fried than another. I was mistaken!!! They truly were the BEST I HAD EVER EATEN and I live along the Gulf Coast. The claws were large and the meat inside was moist and full of flavor. I also was able to enjoy some soft shell crab cooked PERFECTLY. My husband enjoyed his Shrimp and Oyster dinner very much as well. Our waitress was very busy yet still checked on us as she went by our table, plus they all work as a team and since she was busy someone else served our food while it was hot! It is a very family friendly eating place so be ready to smile at babies. They have a good selection of bottle beers. We've ordered take out from here twice since we moved here. The first time, the crab claws were a nice size, and other food was ok. However, they forgot one entree we ordered. Instead of going back there, I just asked for a refund of that entree. The second order was tonight. Crab claws were small, they forgot two sides and gave us one side we didn't ask for. So, I had to drive back up there to give them the side we didn't order back, and get the 2 sides that were missing. They have children running the cash register. Not sure if they bag the food or not, but I would suggest, that if you go there, to go for a sit down dinner so you can tell the waitress if the food is messed up. if you order 'to go', I would suggest you double check what's in the bags before you get home. If we happen to order 'to go' again, I will demand they double check the order in the bag. If it isn't correct, and I have to go back up there again, I will return the entire food, ask for a refund, and never order 'out' from there again. There are too many other great seafood places around that get the orders right, and don't have children running the front desk. read more

Cant say I'm impressed with this place. I know that COVID has impacted many service businesses but we waited a good long time after I called if I needed a reservation. It said they weren't taking reservations but then a group came in that had a reservation. Food isn't high quality and may have been good in years past as we were referred to this place. I had seafood platter and it was ok. Daughter had ribeye that was way I well done and she ordered medium. As a lifelong resident of Mobile County I can attest the Lighthouse Restaurant used to be very good going all the way back to the 1970's. Portions were always plentiful and quality was fantastic! Well, that was then this is now...... We phoned in an order and when we got it home it was blecch!! Hushpuppies were hard as a rock, the portions looked rationed out and the quality was awful. One of our orders was a seafood platter; on most seafood platters you have crab claws dripping from it. Well, we counted a measly 4 crab claws on ours! My wife got a stuffed crab that had about measly 2 shards of crab meat in it. We have ate here several times before and it was always good but here in recent years the quality seems to have been going down. This last time was will be the LAST time we'll eat there for quite a while until this place gets its act together. read more

Stopped by on my way home from Biloxi, and this was the only place open. Standard order. Cup of gumbo and a shrimp po boy. Wait wasn't bad and the staff was friendly, but the food was awful. The shrimp po boy was cold. None of the shrimp were cooked all the way through and I'll be danged if in the seafood capital of Alabama, the shrimp didn't look and taste, premade out of a box. The gumbo (5 bucks for a cup) was just awful. It's billed as seafood gumbo, but I had TWO PIECES of shrimp in seafood gumbo. The base is tasteless and there's too much rice. If you're looking for a place to eat in Bayou La Batre, avoid this place. It's not going to give you the authenticity you think it would from the other reviews. read more

Good seafood. Only issue was that a tour bus with about 40 folks came in and had a room reserved. The waitresses told us that the policy was that the tour group had to be served first which delayed everyone else in the restaurant. It was a long wait before the kitchen could get to the other patrons. I would bypass it in the future if you see a tour bus in the parking lot. read more
