Super impressed with this place and all it has to offer! I'm so jealous of the locals that live nearby and can hang out here on any given day. Being so close to the university, I would expect more students to be here, but each time I've come (2), the crowd skews 30-40s. Lots of families and small children too. I love the concept of a food hall where everyone can get what they want. And with the convenience of table side ordering, there are no lines and people can really enjoy hanging out and chatting while the food is cooked and arrives. I will say my one complaint is that everything is served to go with very little reusable dishware, which creates lots of paper waste. All dishes come with the right accoutrements too - ketchup for fries, onion and cilantro for the Birria ramen. Offerings: - Birria Ramen: super good flavor and good quality meat. I would have liked it to be served in a different container, perhaps there is a bowl option I missed. 4/5 - Okie Dokies Burger: Calling all onion lovers to this place! It did also have great overall flavor and was cooked well. 5/5 - Okie Dokies Fries: Crinkle cut fries, these were just fine. A little seasoning would have made these better. 3/5 - Hawaiian Calzone: Surprisingly good! I love the concept of The Line Kitchens, but overall was disappointed with the food. I went on a Friday night at 7:30 and only 2 restaurants (out of 8?) were open to choose from. So by default, we tried La Birria and the pizza spot. I can't recall the exact names. La Birria had extremely over salty food. Especially with their queso! I couldn't believe it. I would NOT recommend them. The pizza spot was tasty, but over priced. I would love to come back for other places The Line offers, but considering the limited availability on a Friday night, chances are slip. I was very disappointed that places like Kru, Nash and Proper, and Okie dokies were closing as it approached 8pm. I feel like my experience had I tried their food, would be much different. read more

We visited The Line for the first time for a friend's birthday and this is a great spot for get togethers and celebrations! It fits a lot of people and allows everyone to order from different types of vendors- But let me back things up... The Line is right off Elvas Avenue and has a great space that offers outdoors seating as well as some covered "indoor" seating. The indoor area would definitely be protected from the elements on a bad weather day, but is more open concept and keeps it feeling indoor/outdoor especially for the nice days. I think they have a dirt/gravel lot next door, but it's not clearly marked other than a smaller sign saying "Private property" and that you need the owners permission to park- so is the owner the Line and if you're a customer you have permission? Or is the lot owned by someone else... we opted to park on the street to avoid any confusion. There is a good amount of street parking in the area and a lot is two hour parking (except on weekends when it's unlimited)- always read the parking signs though. The inside is fresh and modern and green with plenty of seating. There are two bars where you can order drinks that include beer, wine, alcoholic kombucha, cider, seltzers and non-alcoholic options. There is something for everyone. There are QR codes on the tables that you can scan to order food from the ghost kitchens to your table. Many people in our group were confused by the way it's set up- when we stopped in Garden of Eat'n was the default and many people in my group didn't even realize you could scroll at the very top to see the other restaurants. Maybe having the front greeting screen be a list of all the businesses would be better so it shows off the variety, because they have some great options here. We got drinks from the bar and hung out and eventually we ordered some food. From the "Small Bites & Sweets" menu we got Ranch Cheese Curds ($13.99) and Deep Fried Pickles ($12.99). I would say these were a bit expensive for the portion, and the fried pickles could have been a bit crispier on the outside but both options had good flavor and they were a crowd pleaser. We also got Jumbo tenders (3 for $15), a side of pickles (a decent sized container $5) and and extra fuego sauce ($1) from Nash and Proper. The jumbo tenders seem a bit more expensive compared to the online prices for the other location- but in this economy maybe that's the new price. Nash and Proper is always delicious though and the side of pickles goes so well with the spicy chicken. I also got the Primo Combo ($21) from Okie Dokies which comes with their Okie DOkie burger, fries and a dirty soda of choice- I got the I'm in Love with the Coco which is Dr.Pepper and cream of coconut. I also added another side of pickles ($5) and an extra sauce ($1). The burger came out fresh and hot and was super flavorful. I actually added some Nash and Proper Fuego Sauce to the burger which is a unique opportunity since they're both here and that was great. The OD sauce is a bit sweet for me, but other people really liked it. The drink was refreshing and the fries were cooked well too. I placed each order separately for each vendor, but I wonder if I could have added multiple vendors to my cart before ordering because there was a $0.88 service charge on each order on top of tip and tax. I'll have to test it out next time. When you have multiple people in your group there's definitely going to be people wanting to order from different spots. This spot is open and dog and kid friendly. There were some parents that were letting their kids stray a bit far from them and we ended up with some random kids under our table playing with sand. We also had some parents chase their kids through our group. If you don't like kids you may want to reconsider or maybe head in later in the day, or scope out a more secluded corner. All the dogs were leashed when we were here and were very well behaved. If it wasn't so hot we would have brought our dog. Speaking of hot, it is going to get HOT here. We were there around 4pm on a Sacramento spring 75 degree day and the sun was pounding down on us until it set. I definitely got burnt and I forgot my sunglasses so I was constantly changing my position, squinting or covering my eyes to be able to talk to our group. Once the sun went down it was so much better. I hope they add some umbrellas, misters and other summer friendly accessories to keep people coming once it really heats up. Overall, we had a great time and while this spot is new and will undoubtedly go through some adjustments as they experience their first summer we're already planning to go back. read more

This is a pretty cool place, but you have to be careful what you order. Friends ordered several deep fried appetizers (chicken, cheese, French fries) that were very yummy. But our Gyro sandwich was disappointing...very tasty, but where's the meat?! Sandwich needed about triple the amount of meat provided. Great place to go when you're with a group and can't decide on what to get for dinner. Everyone can get what they want! Ordering online is easy, and the pickup is smooth. Two things to note: - Parking can sometimes be tricky. You can pull into the Line's lot but it's pretty small and unlikely you'll find parking. Best thing to do is try and park on the street on Elvas. - If you're ordering on one ticket from two (or more) different kitchens, note that the wait lines may not line up. This place is right outside of Sac State and the food on campus is kind of atrocious: Chando's, Panda Express, outdated mediocre chains like TOGO's & Baja Fresh, and multiple Starbucks... it's quite sad. But this place is quite a gem to be able to have multiple restaurants operate in one kitchen. It's kind of obscure and easy to miss and you have to park in the street because the lots are for delivery drivers only. A star is being taken away because all ordering is done online. I'm not very tech savvy and I like to pay for food by walking up and just paying cash... but you can't do that here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Along with the lack of a push/email/ or text notification about when the food is ready to be picked up and standing in the hot sun was sort of bad for a pale person like me... For the food I ordered a Nash + Proper (med+) Chicken Sandwich & an Okie Dokies cheeseburger and both were delicious! I will be back to try out the other restaurants for Japanese food, sushi, or a Cubano sandwich. Great layout and flow for people; excellent and diverse food options; convenient and easy mobile ordering system based on table or takeout number; broad drinks program including lots of cool non-alcoholic options; VERY kid and dog friendly! I absolutely don't get the appeal. This is a ghost kitchen (I'd heard of these but this was my first experience with one - and that was unexpected). So, order online while you're AT the place? At THOSE prices?? What happens if you get the wrong order, or worse your order doesn't even show up? E-mail and ask for a refund? Never knew this place existed until I tried to order for Kru To Go. This storefront is a commercial kitchen for a bunch of great restaurants in Sacramento - think Local Kitchens in the bay area. You can order online and so far from Kru, I feel like the quality is on par to the actual restaurants. I think this is a great solution for people who want different food from different restaurants but only want to pick up from one location! I've heard about The Line Kitchens before but haven't ordered until today! They're located right off Elvas and there is street parking or a parking lot so you can get your food quickly and go. The pickup window is super easy when you've placed your order online ahead of time! I was planning to order Okie Dokies but sushi sounded good on a hot day so we ordered the Lovin the Kru bento box to share with my husband. We thought it would be the most food since it was the most expensive of the omakase boxes but it was still more like a one-person meal. It was $47 on the menu but after taxes and an additional 'service fee' it came down to $52. I am definitely more satisfied if I get a chirashi bowl for $30-40 elsewhere! But Kru doesn't disappoint on quality at least. My favorites from the box were probably the lomi nigiri, and toro tartare donburi. They give a generous portion of kizami too, which was super strong in the best way. Again, everything was super good hence the 4 stars, but just probably wouldn't pay that steep for the quantity again..but still I'm glad I tried it! read more

The good: Great ambience! Dog & family friendly, super casual indoor/outdoor area. Interesting aesthetic. The bad: Menus are all crammed into a website on your phone & hard to navigate, so you end up just ordering whatever you can find after spending way too long searching and then going through all the endless options... Food is hit or miss. First trip I had a pretty good build-your-own salad and two good appetizers for the table, albeit a bit pricy at $40. Second visit I got what was billed as a vegan bacon cheeseburger and garlic fries ($4 extra) for a grand total of $27 and was not at all impressed. Only a faint hint of aioli or bacon flavor in one bite, burger was dry and not much cheese or toppings - looked nothing like the photo. Fries were bland and only had tiny sprinkle of dried garlic on top. Maybe that's what you get for your money these days? The low rating is for two very important reasons. The difficulty of ordering it through their QR code app, and for not providing your guests a WiFi code. This ordering experience and lack of courtesy guest wifi makes the experience unnecessarily annoying and you need lots of extra time to finalize your order due to the glitchyness. I had the Tokyo Tacos, and it was great a 5/5. My husband ordered the Quesabirria tacos, beans, and rice. He enjoyed it and gave it 4 out of 5. I liked they had a few non-alcoholic choices: a cider, Pils light, and a couple of cocktails. The outdoor ambiance is nice. They do get a lot right here. Initially stumbled across this place as Okie dokies came up when we were looking for lunch. Turns out this is an establishment with multiple different restaurants inside to choose from. Okie Dokies was closed so the representative at the front window walked me through some popular dishes from all of the restaurants (he was SO helpful and friendly, very nice change to most places out there). I ended up trying the Chicken Teri Don at Kizuna. Pleasantly surprised with a huge portion, and very flavorful and quality ingredients. Will definitely be returning!! read more

Best burger in Sac possibly. The Nash Proper uses too large of a chicken thigh but the flavor was great. Can't find a better ambiance outdoor in Sac spring weather. Was cool when the train went by. Where to begin. We were here to celebrate a birthday. We placed our order and then waited and watched as everyone else in our group got their food from various purveyors. Then we got our appetizer - which was not hot - but not our entrees. So we waited some more. After half an hour I went up to the window to cancel our order and get a refund since it still wasn't ready and the goyza had been cold. The guy told me our food wasn't ready because the rice had to be cooked. How can a Japanese restaurant be out of rice when? Then he said he couldn't refund my money because the manager was on break. How can a multi-restaurant kitchen not have a manager on duty? I gave him my order info and told him what table we were at, and then we waited some more. Then I got a text saying our food was finally ready and would be delivered soon. Oh, the irony. Since I had not yet gotten confirmation of a refund, I figured they would actually deliver the food, which would've been awesome since we were both really hungry. But no; nothing. When I worked at a restaurant, this issue would've been addressed by bringing the late order to us and comp'ing it. Instead, we waited some more until I finally hunted down someone to ask about our refund. I explained what had happened to someone who offered to help, and that guy apologized and brought me over to talk to somebody else -- the manager who finally came up to say I would get a refund in 3 to 5 days. I don't know why it's going to take that long so that's another problem. The manager also said that the first staff member told her I had canceled the order even though our food was ready. That was not true. That guy never told me our order was ready, and I didn't get the text until after I had gone back to our table and sat down for a bit. We both would have loved to eat our meals if they had actually been ready. I don't like to give bad Yelp reviews, but there were too many mistakes tonight to let this slide. And I haven't even mentioned the limited parking along Elvas, let alone the uneven pavement with poor lighting. Sure hope that refund gets processed pronto. read more
