It is a fun…read morecourse that can be challenging from the tips, family owned as I understand, and we usually have a good time. Over the last month each week the course has gotten worse. They have let some kind of rot creep under the greens. We have watched it get worse consistently over the past month until the last weekend when they were completely unputtable. To make matters worse the greens and much of the fairways were hard pan. I knew we were in trouble on the very first hole when I had a 100 yard lob wedge straight down the chimney that landed on the front of the green bounced 5 ft high and rolled off the back. To make matters worse they raised prices this year and have let the course go to crap. I really like this course but it is simply not worth the money. I really want this place to do well but won't be playing it again unless it gets significantly better. We made a tee time on the course for the next weekend at elks run. It's worth a few dollars more to us to not have to put up with the aggravation. I figure over the last 3 years we've spent at least $8,000 at twin oaks. I just don't know how they're going to survive.

I could spend all night hitting balls on the range and drinking beer with friends and laughing at how bad we all are at golf. The driving range facilities are clean and very well lit. I just wish there was a grass option - I don't like mats... and there needs to be more spaces - its always crowded when I'm there. The par 3 course is pretty pleasant as well. It's nice to be able to play a quick round of 9 in the evenings after work. I feel the prices are a bit high (especially for putt putt), but I guess I could search for coupons and deals if I was really motivated.

The biggest issue was on the 10th hole after making the turn. We were on the tee box waiting for a single in front of us, there was a guy mowing, we waited on the single to finish the hole and got out of our carts to get ready, we teed up and were taking a few practice swings while waiting for the gentleman to finish mowing. However he did not like that, he pulled up right next to the tee box and says" clearly you guys have never played golf on a course, if you see someone working we will wave you to hit or you sit and wait" in the rudest tone ever. We did not tend to take out tee shot until he was done with his pass mowing. That guy was extremely rude and it made the rest of the game not as enjoyable. Some people are rude for no reason. Would play this course again for sure, just wish people weren't as rude.

Got a call a month later saying the club was closed for a member guest. When we were in Ireland I talked with the Club secretary and found out that there was no member guest and that they had never booked our times. There big connections got us on at 4pm . HAHA. I had put my own name on the waiting list after all this transpired and they had a cancellation fortunately. I would hate for someone to plan their dream trip and have this happen.

First, I was booking this trip for my husband - the golfer - and me - a non-golfer. SGH was the ONLY tour company that would work with me - all the other companies would work with 4 or 8 golfers, nothing less. SGH provided us overwhelming detail about the golf courses and if I had requested a specific course, that would've happened. I tried doing research on my own but this would've become a full-time job. SGH also provided sightseeing information for me. I was thoroughly entertained on this trip! SGH arranged a rental car for us. Doug, our in-country host, met us at the airport and walked us to our car. He gave us a crash course in UK driving and we followed him through the 1st 2 roundabouts leaving the airport - which was terrific 'cause we surely would've gotten lost! 2 caveats: 1. prior to the golf trip we spent 9 days on a guided tour of the UK, which was helpful - we didn't have jet lag while driving and we had time to get used to cars being on the "wrong" side of the road. 2. Make sure your rental car is equipped with GPS! It is essential for navigating the roundabouts. Every night Doug called my husband for feedback on the day's golf experience. Since he was a single golfer, SGH was unable to get a tee time at St Andrews (though they tried) but Doug gave my husband tips for navigating the lottery system and he was successful. They arranged top notch lodging. In North Berwick, we stayed at the Marine Hotel. Our mini=suite with floor to ceiling windows, overlooked the 16th fairway and the North Sea. Simply gorgeous! At St. Andrews, we stayed at the Scores Hotel, just across the street from The Old Course. Again, a simply magnificent view of the golf course and North Sea. Breakfast was included with our stay. SGH made a once-in-a-lifetime trip even more special. Their personalized service, design of golf packages is simply top notch.

They offer two pools (one is a lap pool, the other includes 2 diving boards), tennis courts, basketball hoops, shuffleboard, and two playgrounds. We haven't yet taken advantage of the grilling area, but it is an awesome amenity. Let's talk about the staff: everyone is always friendly and accomodating. The lifeguards are watchful and do their job well. The snack bar is a great aspect of the swim club as well, they have ice cream and snacks as well as hot food. I'm looking forward to many pool days this summer!
