Finally found my salon in NJ. I've tried a few places over the past year since moving here but never fit just right. Thanks to a friends referral and her faith in the owner, Josh, I found The Lion's Mane Salon. He did everything I requested for my ombré color & long layers. The salon is beautifully done - nicely lit, clean, open, and relaxing. There is a nail salon on the second floor with full massage chairs (score!). Highly recommended from someone who has gone through the heartache of finding a new stylist after moving! :)

I am so happy that I was referred to Lion's Mane and decided to come. Josh came highly recommended and helped me turn my very damaged hair to the color I wanted, and he was very helpful, informative, polite, and professional. Everyone at the salon is very kind and professional, and the salon is very peaceful and clean, with the staff carefully following COVID-19 guidelines. I would HIGHLY recommend Josh and Lion's Mane as (by far) the best stylist/colorist and salon in the area. I will definitely return as a regular. If only all salons were like Lion's Mane, lives would be a lot easier and hair a lot more beautiful and healthier! read more

Josh! My first appointment was more then I expected. Josh took the time to explain the process, colors and what would be a realistic outcome and he got to work on my hair... After twenty minutes or so, a quick rinse, he applied smoothing conditioners and I was ready for a fresh cut, blow dry and style! Wow! The color was absolutely gorgeous- a golden blonde with warm dark blondes, browns and a fabulous shimmer to boot! Josh was everything I read in recent reviews online and then some..! I haven't had my hair professionally cut and colored in almost two years. So I wanted to make sure when I went to get it done, I went to a good salon. Lindsay was my stylist, and she was so in depth with her knowledge and answered all my questions and concerns about coloring my hair. She was extremely friendly and took really good care of me. My appointment was a little longer since I have a lot of hair that took a while for the color to take. She was totally ok with the amount of time it took. Josh was also a lot of fun since by the end of the appointment the salon had already closed and the three of us talked for a while. They're amazingly wonderful people and I'm looking forward to going back soon! read more

Hands down the best salon in the area. Josh is an incredibly well-trained and talented hair stylist. I love being able to go in and bounce ideas off of him, and then confidently let him go to work creating my dream 'do.' The salon is beautiful and very comfortable. Truly it feels just like home with all of the amenities and comfy chairs. While I haven't had a manicure there myself, Michelle's work is absolutely beautiful! I went to the salon for the first time today. I've read many great reviews, so I was on Facebook last night, looked them up and sent an email requesting an appointment for today( which they had)( I'm a spur of the moment kind of client! Lol . I was told I would be with Kim, a Jr stylist. I love going to Jr stylists( the last 2 appointments were with Jr stylists at different salons) I was looking for a bit more experience this time.. Missy reassured me that a senior stylist would be there for the consultation and for support if needed... I decided to give it a try.. I AM SO HAPPY I DID!!! Kim did an absolutely amazing job!! The salon is very welcoming, decorated nice, clean and they use Aveda products! This will definitely me my new salon for hair, nails and they do massage too!!!! read more

I have had other stylists since I moved back to NJ, but I wasnt happy until I found Josh. He does a great job on my hair! He never pushes product, but if I ask about what product I should use, he recommends what he thinks it's best for what I need. Josh also came to my rescue when my husband took my 15 yr old son to a terrible chain salon, 2 days before school pics. My son was devestated and didn't want that lady touching his hair again. My son's hair was terrible, from the other place, and Josh fixed us right up, my son doesn't want to go anywhere else now! Now I can't leave out the awesome nail tech, Michele. I have to give credit where credit is due! This place is great. I came here from a referral from a lady from the Aveda store in Cherry Hill. I move often and find it difficult to find a stylist I like. Missy is amazing and talented! She has cut and colored my hair and has done an amazing job. Found this place here on Yelp. Looking for a new shop where maybe I would pay and say ok he or she finally cut my hair and did a nice job. So, Made the appt. for a haircut with Kim the recent graduate from rizzerri school. She is pretty good. I've had better I've had worse cuts. Wish the hairwash was a little better though. The newest Aveda salon in the area The Lions Mane is owned and operated by one of the most talented stylists I have ever met. Considering I've lived in 3 different states, that is no small feat. Joshs' cuts are so good they still style perfectly 5-6 weeks later. His color talent is impressive to say the least. His associate Missy is incredibly talented as well. She proceeded to take me to a frigid room, where she asked "what do you want." I told her I was four months postpartum and wanted a massage preferably laying on my side or back, to which she told me "I am not trained to do massages on the side or back" and stated she had the client face down the entire time. Having had massages done for over 20 years, I have never heard of a masseuse who is hired untrained to perform massages unless the client is solely on the back. Nor have I heard of a spa who books massages without specifying that the masseuse may be unable to do a massage at all if you are unable to lie on your stomach after you inform them you are postnatal from a c section. After I told her I guess I would cancel the massage because she kept shrugging stonefaced while telling me "I just can't do it," she promptly left the room and began gossiping with another masseuse down the hall. I literally had to call out after her "can you at least show me the way out?" given the lack of exit signs in Spavia's dark hallway. Caitlin rolled her eyes and sarcastically asked "you are not going to change into your clothes?" and I told her I needed the locker room. She wordlessly showed me the way before rolling her eyes again and stalking off. Please avoid booking with this woman Caitlyn and Spavia in general. Also, Caitlin came to collect me at 12:59pm (though I could hear her chatting with someone in the hallway well before then) so that my 1:00pm appointment time could start ticking away while she led me to the room, did intake, have me get ready, etc. No waiver or paperwork regarding massage goals was done at all, though it is unlikely she would have reviewed it anyway. I would also avoid this Spavia location for safety reasons.

If you have things to do later in the day, definitely recommend you interrupt him and ask him to just focus on giving the massage. The place isn't warm and is actually slightly cold. This doesn't result in a relaxing experience. The body oil is also cold, so he's just rubbing you with cold oil. Also, I wish he would cut his nails a little. When he was working in my neck/behind my ears, his nails were digging into my skin, which is not at all relaxing. Overall, he seems knowledgeable, but these details need to be improved.

My husband booked me The Works for my birthday (they didn't have anyone to do the pedicure that…read moreday, so they allowed him to sub in the body scrub, which I am happy about because I loved it). I had never had a full spa day and I was not disappointed! The sauna was very relaxing and I loved that it is in a private room with a shower (you can truly just relax in peace). It is an infrared sauna, which I really enjoyed (I found it a more comfortable heat, as opposed to a wet sauna). My body scrub and massage from Joe'l were excellent, and my very first facial was with Anysse and I loved it (I also appreciated that she wrote me a product card but did not pressure me to purchase products). The charcuterie and sangria included with this service were SO good; what a treat. Decor brought a sense of peace and the spa was very clean. Some other comments mentioned the layout being odd, but I thought it was fine; the structure of the building requires that different services be on different levels and the robes provide full coverage when moving from area to area (it does get a little noisy at times in the sauna because you can hear employees talking from another room, but whatever). My only (minor) issue was that it took significantly longer than expected (I was there for 5-ish hours, instead of the 3.5 my husband was told on the phone) because there was a lot of lag time between services. I also found it odd that the person who was helping me (I didn't catch her name) suggested that I shower off (from the scrub) and put my robe back on, immediately after which she told me to go change into my regular clothes in the bathroom (I asked her if I could just go back into the shower room I had just come out of to change and she seemed confused before telling me yes). I think she must have been new. Overall, it was a wonderfully relaxing birthday and I would recommend this spa to others.

Zakia the owner is like the queen of brows. She makes them appear even if their not even there…read more I've tried her eyebrow wax shape & tint $25, eyebrow wax & fill$15, and faux mink lashes$50. The eyebrow tint is great but for me they didn't even last a week. The lashes only lasted a few days. Once a few fell out I pulled them all out. She is a bit pricy but other places are around the same or even more in price and they aren't as good. She is always booked weeks in advance so you have to book early!! I will continue to come to her whenever I can book an appt because she does brows so good.

The Lion's Mane is an awesome salon. Missy and Josh are both excellent stylists. I am so excited that they have opened this salon on their own and have followed them from their previous salon. Missy is wonderful. My hair has never looked better. The color and cut are perfect. Michelle is a great manicurist. The manicure/pedicure area is upstairs where it is quiet and relaxing. Such a welcome change from the noisy nail salons. The salon is beautiful and inviting, the stylists are talented and the Aveda products are the best! read more

I love The Lion's Mane Salon. I drive from Maryland to get my haircuts and keratin treatments by Josh. He never tries to push products or try to sell you products that you don't need. The salon has a clean, warm and friendly atmosphere on two different levels. Michelle gives fabulous pedicures in massage chairs. They also provide makeup services. I don't color my hair but I have watched women leave with fabulous highlights and color corrections done by Josh and Missy. I highly recommend The Lion's Mane Salon. read more
