I was in the market for a new salon to help me maintain the color block hair style I had. I first tried them in May 2023, and have been returning for touch-ups every other month. Unfortunately, I experienced a tremendous amount of breakage when I moved to Thrive Salon to maintain my color style, even with every intervention and variable that I was able to control myself. (Tons of hair masks, silk bonnets, only air drying, wide-toothed combs rather than brushes, regular haircuts, high end shampoo/conditioner for color-treated hair, changing shampoo/conditioner to another color-safe one, oil sprays... you name it). I kept up with 7 week appointments at my stylist's request to help "minimize damage", but it didn't seem to do anything but put me out of more money, and result in me having less hair. I was dilligent about asking my stylist to do a "breakage check" every time I sat in her chair to try to prevent this. She always said everything looked great. In November, during my normal appointment, I cited that I was noticing substantial breakage. I should have listened to my gut when my stylist responded to my concerns with a surprise, stating "you usually see that up here" while pointing to my scalp. (In hindsight... yikes.) Despite my concerns that day, she didn't seem to heed additional cautions or change her approach. On that same day I cited bad breakage, she lifted a new brunette section of my hair (at my request in a desperate attempt to keep my hair style) *extremely* fast. What normally needs 3 sessions to go from my brunette to our target shade of blonde she somehow achieved in 1 with my roots, and could do in 2 to my ends. She was both surprised and excited at "how light it got" during my wash out. It seemed like she never had full control over her color processing, and didn't even know what she was expecting it to do. Needless to say, all of that hair started breaking in the following weeks, plus other strands. When I went to another salon to get a haircut (I find their haircuts to be outrageously priced at Thrive), the woman shared her concern with me on the health of my hair. She even questioned if Olaplex was being left out of my mix. I didn't have an answer. This salon, despite the high price tag, also doesn't include a basic rough dry for color services to check their work. They let people paying nearly $200 for color walk out with sopping wet hair. The manager assured that a rough dry ("not blow out, that was extra") was normal for color, so stylists could check their work before the customer leaves, but I was handed a blow dryer by the rinser last visit to do it myself while my stylist moved onto another client entirely. She didn't even check on me or say goodbye. It felt wrong. I was paying ~$250 every 8 weeks but couldn't get a rough dry? I had to drive home with wet hair? Despite the poor outcome with their color service, I also observed that I was being charged different ways and different prices for my exact same service every time I went. I was never given a heads up about the price differences, and only found out at the register after my stylist had left. At one point, I was charged for a haircut that I declined in the chair. (Thankfully I noticed!) After I was rung up, I told the man at the desk, and he quickly said "oh, well you got your hair dried, so we have to charge you for a blowout". The price of the blowout helped them retain all of the mischarge for the haircut I never got. It felt very shady to me. (Remember how the rough dry was supposed to be included?) Generally, I find this salon to be very expensive for the skill I was shown. I thought the price I was paying for my color blocking was fair, but seeing that I had so much breakage, maybe it was over-priced like some of their other a la carte menu. ($75 for a *trim* is too rich for my blood.) I'm leaving an extra star despite my experience because when I did have a chance to speak with the salon manager, she was open to feedback, stayed true to her promises of when she would get back to me, and offered a refund for the past haircut/blowout fiasco I retold above. She understandably stood behind her staff, but I was disappointed that the stylist's word was always taken over the customer's. (I have no reason to lie about a service I didn't receive....) They also got me in quickly around the very busy holidays when I called and let them know more of my hair was breaking and I needed to come in to resolve it with my stylist. I appreciate them doing that for me. One last shoutout - Jen at the wash station was seriously a highlight of my experience. Love her and wish the best for her. read more

I had my hair colored by a very expensive and reputable hair salon in Marlton NJ (I will not bad mouth a business) . I showed them a picture of me as a warm strawberry blonde and asked the stylist if she could do this . she said yes and $200 later my hair was copper on top, bright blonde highlights and light mousy brown in the middle. I was devastated until a friend recommended Traci at Thrive. we had two free hair consultations where Traci really listened to me. after just one color session my strawberry blonde hair is back and I love what I see when I look in the mirror. Traci used many different color lines and two glazes and my hair shines. if you need a color correction Traci is the one. I am so grateful. read more

Thrive Salon is my go to for spray tanning. Kathi is amazing. Before your spray, she'll review the entire process with you, and even provides a hand out with all the after care instructions. There are different shades of spray, and Kathi will work with you to pick the perfect one for whatever event you have. She offers full body, top body and face tans. read more

Traci did my color and she is AMAZING. She listened to what I wanted, and also made some great suggestions for both color and cut. She is sweet, warm and incredibly talented- everything you could want in a colorist. Can't recommend enough. John did my cut, which I am also thrilled with. I've been going to Cindy for a haircut for 26 years, I followed her over from the last business she was with. Although prices for a haircut tend to run a little higher than other businesses, I always believe that you get what you pay for. I don't trust anyone else to cut my hair, I once went to somewhere else and they messed up my layers. Cindy knows what she's doing and I trust her. So I don't mind paying a little more. read more

I normally get my hair done in center city Philly but decided to find a hair salon in NJ to go to due to all of the COVID restrictions in PA. Friends and fam recommended Thriv, and they seem to have good reviews on here, so I had high hope. First of all, there was no price on the website but for some reason one of the reviews mentioned them not being expensive and they only had $$ on here. It was my bad for not asking about the price when scheduling my appointment because I found out later when paying that it was on the more expensive side (~$70 before tip), even more than my any other salons I had gone to in center city Philly. More importantly, I came in and asked for a long bob ( I've always had long bob and never had a problem with other places) but what I got is nothing like I imagined... My hair was styled before I could see the entirety of the new cut so I couldn't tell how the cut was. Now after my first hair wash, I feel like crying after the first proper hair cut after 6 months of quarantine. It is too short, there's no angle, it looks like a basic bowl cut. Despite the fact that the staffs were nice and professional and they fit me in a late appointment, I am sad and disappointed I wasted my money here. read more

I've been going to Thrive Salon for a few years now and I love it! I use Jamie to color my hair and Rob to cut my hair and they are both attentive and never disappoint. Attached is one photo but since then I just tell Jamie to do whatever she thinks is best and I always get a lot of compliments on my hair. I recently got a full head of highlights with a glaze from Traci Taglienti and could not be more thrilled with my services. I have been getting my hair done blonde for 15 years and no one has ever gotten my hair close to this brilliant shade of blonde. It's clear Traci is very talented and really knows what she's doing. I was looking for a stylist to cut curly hair well. Thrive Salon got really good reviews and so I called & made appointment. They gave me Cindy. I came up there I told Cindy what I wanted I even showed her pictures and she cut my hair, styled it used some crap in m. it really look nice when I left. I washed it. it was so chopped up it was so uneven that I have pictures before and after. they are horrible I wouldn't trust reviews and I would never go back there again not only that they were the most expensive salon. $83.00 for a simple cut. Not counting TIP. Thrive Salon told me to come up & Cindy would fix it. She butchered my hair the first time & I am supposed to trust her to fix it???? read more

As someone who has experimented and impulsively changed hair color one too many times.... I can honestly say that my hair has taken a huge beating. My newest endeavor has been to add highlights with minimal damage and little to no upkeep. This is where Julianna comes in. When I first walked through the door, my hair was a multitude of colors as a result of my homemade experiments. Julianne was able to even it all out to my natural color and add in the balayage style of highlights I requested. Since then I have visited twice more for further lightening and styling. Though pricier than than some other places you truly get the upscale experience and treatment. If you're looking to do something major to your hair or have a few bucks to splurge came here. I had the most lovely experience at Thrive! Everyone on staff was very friendly and professional. The salon is very clean and organized. I had my color done by Sam and she was able to turn a dry, discolored mess into gorgeous burgundy and purple with multiple depths. Then, I had my bob cleaned up by Tiffany. I went from a very bulky and shapeless do to a fun and carefree bob. Tiffany even took the time to teach me how to better blow dry my hair and how to get beach waves in with a curling iron. They even gave me a free blow out so they can take nice pictures of my hair. I couldn't have been happier with my experience as a client of Thrive Salon's colorist Jamie. She is warm and welcoming, an excellent listener, extremely talented hair color artist, and just an all around lovely and empathic person. Although I'm nearly 40 years old, this was my first time having my hair color worked on by a professional colorist. I needed help correcting over-bleaching of my naturally ash blonde hair which had occurred while living overseas for three years in Da Nang, Vietnam through a combination of sun damage and powerful color lifters used in Vietnamese salons during my root touch ups. I was after an easier to maintain root as well as less golden hue of blonde which would better compliment my skin tone. During my first visit, Jamie introduced a beautiful new darker blonde shade, with flattering pops of creamy highlights around my face. Although it was an excellent color correction, I wanted a look with less contrast in the highlights around my crown and an even brighter shade around my face. Jamie very generously welcomed me back for a second visit at no additional charge to bring me from "great" to "sensational!" Thrive Salon was top notch in regard to professionalism in communication as I was booking through FB messenger due to my overseas location at the time of contact, as well as in regard to the design, cleanliness, and layout of the salon. The location is very conveniently located on Route 70 near Route 73 in Cherry Hill, just a stone's throw from Philadelphia. Although I will soon be returning to Vietnam for work, I will absolutely be making an appointment with Jamie during my next US visit.
