    Old strawberries - terrible quality
    Christine Q.

Update: Attached is a screenshot confirming that your team wanted to complete the order in your store - which I gladly did. At the store, I shared the date for pick up and details accordingly and your team inaccurately took the wrong notes. In addition, I paid in full that day after you took my orders. What I was hoping for was some accountability on your half for the wrong order and the wrong pick up date. Your team has made zero effort to make anything right. This was not worth the almost $200 cost that we paid. The cake was dry and old. The cupcake sizes were wrong as i explained this was very important we ordered the mini cupcakes because the kids can't eat the full size cupcakes. You baked my entire order for the wrong date so we had stale cake (old strawberries pictured on our cake). I even shared at pick up that I didn't care that I paid for full size cupcakes, just please switch them out for the mini cupcakes you had readily available in your display case - and you shared that per your policy you couldn't and that I needed to take the order as-is or pay more for any additional cupcakes. What's the point of completing the order in store if your team will note down the wrong order and the wrong pick up date? Your entire response to my review lacks accountability and more importantly, your response is inaccurate because I paid in-store per your request before I had a chance to review anything over email. Santa Barbara is a small community and I hope other customers see that this is NOT how you treat people, let alone a customer when you're clearly in the wrong. I've not once asked for a refund (nor did you ever offer one), but I am asking you consider taking some accountability for your actions.

    Leftover cupcakes

I've been buying baked goods from The Little Things for years. My visit on April 1st was disappointing. To start: The woman at the counter seemed bothered that I was asking questions about the cupcake sizes, flavors and cost. I ended up purchasing a dozen full size cupcakes that were perfectly decorated. Next: When I got home I realized my order was wrong. I was missing flavors I ordered and had flavors I didn't order. Last: While the cupcakes looked great, most were dry and the frosting was too sweet. When your guests leave half eaten cupcakes, it's not a good sign they enjoyed them. I live in the neighborhood and will try again, but cautiously.

The Little Things Bakery created this beautiful cake for my daughter's courthouse wedding in Santa Barbara. Leah was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with. The cake was beautiful in its tropical design and tasted amazing! Also a shout-out to Felipe at KALEIDOSCOPE FLOWERS (also in Santa Barbara) for the floral touches. I highly recommend both of these fine establishments for your wedding or special event!

I ordered a lemon cake with Bavarian raspberry filling and gave a picture of cake I wanted. The cake was super moist and subtle lemon flavor. I could have eaten another slice. The raspberry taste I wasn't really able to taste but the texture was so soft and creamy. Next time I'm in the area, I will go back for more cake/cupcake. The aesthetics of the cake differed a bit from the inspiration cake pic I provided in terms of colors and foiling placement. However, I did ask for a shorter cake than the inspiration pic. Overall, this cake was delicious!

We ordered a custom cake for my wife's 80th birthday. Given that lily of the valley is the birth flower for the month of May we brought some Pinterest pix to show her what we wanted. We had a tasting a month or so earlier and selected final flavors. We picked up the cake on the day of her party and were thrilled. The cake was moist and the custard and raspberry filling were perfect. The custom buttercream was not too sweet and the colors were spot on. The decoration was as good as anything on Pinterest. Very professional. Everything went smoothly and everyone loved the cake. Do not hesitate to use this bakery for a custom cake!

Edible Dump truck cake - chocolate buttercream, gluten free marble
    Liz C.

The best design ever for my 2 year old's birthday cake. Edible dump truck design was a huge hit. The Bavarian cream filling inside was delicious. The guy at the counter was very friendly. They sold candles and matches at the register. However deducting a star because the chocolate buttercream exterior was way too sweet and didn't taste that great. Most people left it. Perhaps we should have ordered the dark chocolate option. The gluten free marble cake was good, but not the greatest. Recommend if you need a cake, if you talk to them about the sweetness ahead of time. It's right next to von's in the same parking lot so if you need drinks or other supplies it's very convenient.

Cute little bakery on the Mesa, but big on style! The bakery owner was a women of great integrity and the cakes were absolutely tasty! My favorite is their Blackberry Raspberry, so unique and delicious. The cakes were beautifully decorated as well. Thank you Ana, from Marie

It's the little things in life that make us happy right? Well this bakery does just that! After trying their cupcakes at a birthday event, I immediately wanted more. I love desserts, but if it's overly sweet then it's not for me. By far these cupcakes are the best that I've ever had! I've pretty much tried every flavor they offer and they are all equally delicious. The ingredients are top quality, and the amount of sweetness is just right. They are light, airy and melt in your mouth. I love that they offer the cupcakes in mini form or whole, so if you want to try all of them, then the mini cupcakes are perfect for sampling. They make these daily, so you don't need to order them unless you want a specific flavor or amount for a special event. After eating the cupcakes, I knew that I would order my son's birthday cake from this bakery. I placed my order online, which was very simple to do, but the hard part was choosing the flavor of cake, filling, and icing. Mind you, my son likes any cake so I knew whatever cake I ordered he would be happy with. I decided to order the 6-inch mocha cake with Bavarian cream filling, fresh strawberries and whipped cream icing. I was able to customize the cake online by choosing a decoration, color, and wording. Due to COVID times, and not being able to have large gatherings we had a safe celebration at home. Hence the reason for keeping the cake décor simple. The cake was perfect in every way! The whipped cream icing was not too sweet, the mocha cake was moist and flavorful, and the filling was creamy and light. This is the type of cake you could eat without your teeth hurting from the sugary sweetness of a typical store-bought cake. I will definitely be ordering from here again, and now that I've written this review I am craving their cupcakes ha ha.

Custom decorated passionfruit cupcakes with passionfruit filling.
    Mary R.

What a beautiful batch of custom cupcakes for our office baby shower. I was so happy they had a passionfruit option as that is a favorite of the mom to be. It was easy to order by email even including deciding on the custom decoration. The order was ready as promised and the pickup was simple. Everyone enjoyed them. Yay!

My dad ordered me a 6 inch birthday cake with champagne cake, raspberry bavarian cream, and whipped cream on the outside with white chocolate shavings and raspberries. The cake was moist, not too sweet, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving for! I was seriously impressed. There is a similar cake sold at Jeannine's but I thought this was even better! And cheaper! This is one of the best cakes I've had in SB. I will definitely be ordering from here again. My dad saw some lovely cream puffs, cupcakes, and other goodies when he picked it up and I'm looking forward to trying them.

My cake was beautiful and so delicious! My boyfriend ordered through email and they were so quick and attentive. Thank you so much, I loved my cake

WOW, Best cake I have ever had!!...not only for me but many of my guest said the same thing. You know after a big party and great food when people are still talking about the CAKE, it was really something. Leigh, the owner was so helpful with my design and the decoration based on what I needed! She enhanced my party by delivering an outstanding CAKE! I had the strawberry champagne cake with strawberry filling, to die for! I had my birthday party in Santa Barbara but I don't live there so my friends were not from there either....they wanted to know the bakery's name, where it was, was it a chain so they could use it for their parties when they got home. Unfortunately for us, it is not a chain. Santa Barbarians...you are lucky to have such a gem in your city!

The Little Things Bakery made the cake for our wedding and it was just fantastic! Beautifully presented, and delicious to eat - it may have been the best carrot cake we've ever tasted. While I never got to meet the geniuses behind the creation, Leah and JoJo were super helpful over email and coordinated delivery with our reception venue seamlessly. They also did a beautiful job placing flowers on the cake - it was a work of art! Highly recommended for anyone getting married in or around Santa Barbara!

I highly recommend cutting your cake with a sword if you have one.

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had! If I lived close to Alessia I would probably get this a couple of times a week. Thick cut brioche toasted to perfection, the onion jam and sautéed mushrooms were so flavorful, nice salt from the bacon and creaminess from the gruyere and garlic aioli, all topped with the runny fried egg. 5/5 DUCK CONFIT HASH: Crispy potato, hollandaise, pickled fresno chile, cilantro, poached egg. The potatoes were crisp and the poached egg was delicious. The duck was a little on the gamier side, but I didn't mind it. 3.5/5 Overall, I thought Alessia Patisserie & Cafe was a great spot to stop by for breakfast, lunch, or just to try some pastries. I ordered a few different pastries for the road such as the pistachio croissant, ham & cheese croissant, and a "French Onion" soup danish. All of them were so buttery, flaky, and delicious! Service: While we waited in line outside, Lalo, walked up to all of us offering menus for those of us that didn't have any yet. He was very friendly, energetic and joyful with all of those around. We were able to ordered and be seated pretty quickly, within 10 minutes of entering the line. I think what's unique about their ordering and seating model is that they have you order your food at the register, pay, then take a seat where you like. In my perspective, this allows for a smoother in and out dining experience as you don't have to wait for a server and your bill. Environment: The inside of the restaurant provides a store like experience and as you wait in line you can shop around for custom merch. The outside of this restaurant provides great seating with views of the beach. Food: Our plates were delicious! We ordered some special plates they were offering that weekend. I don't recall the exact names, but my wife ordered a sort of lobster cake plate, and I ordered a type of huevo rancheros. We would definitely return here again!
