I have been there twice in the last 2 months. Service is sub par when when slow, terrible when busy. My lobster Alfredo was a broken greasy sauce. Got the king Neptune on Mother's Day. Met up with friends tonight for our monthly prime rib gathering, but decided to try the new summer menu item, Steam Pot. Though I ate it, it honestly was one of the worst meals I ever experienced dining out. The seafood was overdone (i.e. tough, dried out), the half piece of corn was actually frozen at the cob (I had the person sitting next to me press their finger against it), and the summer potatoes had soaked up the water in the bottom of the pan, so I picked them up, squeezed them, draining them ofthe water they had absorbed. Our waitress never returned to ask how our meals were, so when she returned to ask about dessert, I shared this information, told her I wanted nothing in return, and said they really need to rework this menu item. When I want a steak and/or seafood for dinner The Lobster House is my place of choice. I always get a Delmonico or the prime rib cooked perfectly to medium-rare. Their biscuits are so good and their Cesar salads are good. Their bar is well stocked and also have beer on tap. Tasty cheesy rolls brought to the table upon arrival. Portions are appropriate. The menu is deep, a bit pricey, especially for this region, but they draw a nice crowd. The wait staff are young, very well mannered, and oddly impressive, having the skill set one wouldn't expect from other than older career maitre d's, sommeliers and servers in larger cities. Had the flatware and steak knives been of better quality, the napkins been cloth, and the bathrooms a bit nicer, I might have given the 5th star. Went here for me and my boyfriend's one year anniversary. We got the three dishes for 20 deal and it was amazing. All of the food was amazing and we were served promptly. The place is gorgeous with beautiful paintings all around. Our server was conservsational and extremely polite. The lobster bisque and a salad was included in our meal on top of the three dishes! The hostess was pleasant and provided some information about some of the entrees and specials. The server was also pleasant and made some recommendations. We started out with biscuits, Cesar salad and, cups of clam chowder and lobster bisque. Biscuits were delicious and the Cesar salad was fresh. The clam chowder was delicious. The lobster bisque tasted very good but did not have much lobster. Our entrees were 28oz Porterhouse steak, Honolulu salmon and lobster Alfredo. I ordered the steak cooked medium and it was cooked on the rare side of medium rare which was fine with me. The steak tasted delicious. In an area somewhat bereft of fine dining - a shining star. The salmon here is delicious. The chowder is amazing. Undoubtedly the best chowder in the area. I don't eat meat anymore but the Prime Rib is amazing here. A very nice sized portion as well. The Calamari is delicious, crispy, but a bit greasy. The sauce they serve with it is unique and made in house. Some kind of secret sweet and sour. They have cheesy garlic biscuits a bit like Red Lobster. Because I have been to The Lobster House so many more time times than Red Lobster It took me a few runs to realize that Lobster House copied red Lobsters biscuits. This place has lots of space to accommodate any type of event- we had a large birthday bash- The food again was subpar but folks really like the frozen seafood- baked potatoe was cold and old ( we ate after 7 PM) my caesar salad was soggy and way over dressed. The rolls hard as a rock. It is popular with the locals but for those of us who know seafood- avoid. But if you have a large group they really are experts in accommodating anyone. It's one hour out of our way, and in a town where there're no other places to visit. But we traveled anyhow. The place was cozy and had lots of room. I imagine they have a lot of patrons from the area especially during the weekends. Our young receptionist doubled as our server. He was nice and kept on checking on us once in a while. He made sure the kids' meals came in right away. The food, however, did not meet our expectations. I called to make reservations on Monday for Thursday night dinner. Pulled together a group of my husbands retired co-workers who were thrilled to get together. Reprieve from Covid. We have been to this establishment a few times , however tonight may have been my last. The service was terrible for starters, the male waiter was hard to hear and very distracted with laughter from the table behind us. ( his weird laughter, not the people) I chose the special titled the caprese sirloin, which was supposed to be topped with tomato, mozzarella and basil.
