Playtime pup! She's 25lbs and goes with the small dogs for playgroup.

My pup loves coming to The Local Bark for doggy daycare and boarding. She is well taken care of and comes home exhausted from all the fun playtime. The staff are friendly, remember who my dog is when we come in and when I'm there to pick up. I toured the facilities before taking her, easily arranged via phone or email. They offer some grooming, good prices for adding on to a stay or daycare. Love how they have notes about what she did for the day and who she played with. Overall very happy with The Local Bark!

From the front desk team to the people behind the scenes wonderful experience !! Also Kristen their trainer I called was super friendly and gave me great advice . They are very detailed in their evaluations and you get a daycare report card every time . They are organized super friendly and knowledgeable . I've only taken my dog there 2x but have more visits booked .

This is our second golden retriever that has been a part of the local bark family. Recently Jackson did a two week board and train with Kristen and we have had 3 follow up trainings so far. Absolutely one of the best decisions again. She's a dog whisperer I swear ha she loves the dogs like they are her own and has patience with us to help us with continuing the training. We have taken Jackson to day care and he loves it. The staff is amazing. If you are looking for a place who will take care of your dog the way you do, this is the place.

We've used the Local Bark for both daycare and boarding. Our puppy is pretty timid around other dogs and we are working on socializing her. The first few time she came I was afraid she'd cower when we walked in the door and she realized where she was...so I was surprised she went in with a wagging tail! After only a couple visits they greeted her by name when she came in. She always leaves happy and exhausted and takes lots of naps the next day, so I know she's having fun! Every day around lunch time they post pictures on their Facebook page of all the dogs there, so it's fun to peek in at what is going on! I also like the daily "report card" saying how their went and who they played with. Also, they have a military discount for active duty and veterans! I feel comfortable leaving my dog with them for the day or over several days.

My dog in isolation when I showed up a day early to pick her up. I had paid to have her stay in a larger room with her brother.

Took my dogs to stay here for Fourth of July weekend thinking that they knew how to handle dogs during fireworks and stress. We explained we wanted our 2 dogs to be boarded together, so they could keep each other company. We get a call the day after 4th of July that they had more fireworks than expected and during a moment that my dog was left alone she ate and ripped apart the wall inside the kennel. So this leaves me to believe that our dog was not being supervised, and also makes me question why my dog was separated from my other dog? We then get a call (while still on vacation) that she consumed a bunch of the wall (more than initially explained) and is being lethargic, oh and by the way they are billing us about $500 to fix the wall that happened while they were NOT supervising my dog. I pay good money to have my dog watched, if you mess up while watching my dog I don't expect to get charged for it...that's YOUR mess up as a business. If my dog had destructed something while being actively watched (that's one thing) but here you admitted that you were NOT monitoring my dog. We continue to get calls during our vacation of different stories (we owe $500, another one says $300, another person says maybe it's just $25 per hour to fix the wall). Finally we get a call from the "owner" saying that he won't "bill us" for his time while he was fixing this issue and he will only bill us $100. They made it clear that this has never happened before, and that they are sorry...yet they want to get some more money out of us. I pay $400-$600 each time we board our dogs here, money is not an issue. But for you to bill me for NOT doing what I pay you to do? I pay you to watch my dog, and you let my dog consume drywall and get sick to her stomach, during the MOST STRESSFUL DAY OF THE YEAR 4th of July. Then you want to bill me? I will pay the $100, no big deal. But this is the last time I take my dogs here, I will be going elsewhere. And if you didn't want my dogs to come back you could have just told me and I would have gone elsewhere without reviewing you. But to bill me $100 measly dollars on top of cutting my vacation short to come get my dog, on top of my dog puking for eating stuff while under your supervision...WOW. On top of that when we showed up a day early to grab our dogs, they were caught off guard...didn't want to take us to the back to see the damage at first. And my dog was shoved in a tiny crate isolated because of what she did...even though this was not her fault, she should have been SUPERVISED! I recommend you go elsewhere to spend your money, somewhere that is open for surprise visits and is willing to walk you into their facility with no restrictions. A place that has nothing to hide. Don't go to this place. They can take their $100 and shove it! I included a picture of my dog in a tiny crate which was seen when I first walked in a day early to pick up my dogs. She was treated like a criminal for being stressed on 4th of July. I hope the $100 is well utilized! Take care! I spoke with a couple other business owners of kennel/boarding places and explained this situation and they were MIND BLOWN that we were being charged. They explained that they would never charge a dog owner if they messed up. They explained that they understand dogs get anxious and nervous and chew stuff, that happens. But apparently doesn't happen to Local Bark, and if your dog gets anxious...expect a bill on top of the normal

My puppy loves this place & she gets more than enough attention & love from the terrific and professional staff. She has stayed for daycare & up to a week, both times she came back healthy, well exercised and then slept for two days strait! I would highly recommend!

Great place to board your pup! Pool time is great! I thought this was a solid establishment rub by great professionals that really care about your dog's well being. The building is large and has a pool for the dogs to play in. They seem to really love the pool. The staff were great on drop off and pick up. It was clean and bright and didn't have a Kemal vibe at all. I felt like it was more like doggie camp and less like doggie prison. One of the great parts of this place is the fact that they post photos online of all the pups playing during the day. I love being able to see everyone playing and having a good time. Those updates really are important. It also lets me have check up on the place as well. I'll use them again for my pup boarding needs.

Ask the Community - The Local Bark

Hi, I have a small cavalier King Charles spaniel and she's two and never away from mommy . My daughter is having a baby any day now in Rancho Cordova so I'm looking for a place to safely watch her during the day so I can help my daughter...?

Hi Jen, We would be happy to assist with your pet care needs. We suggest taking a look at our webpage to review our health requirements and costs for doggie daycare.…

Now, Fable has been going to daycare since then at least once a week, and I think it's probably the best thing I've done for her. She gets time to burn off all the puppy energy and socializes with dogs of all other sizes. After one or two visits, I realized she knew where we were going in the morning and about a block or so away from Dogtopia, you can hear her get very excited, and I'm pretty sure she's telling me to "drive faster!" She bolts out of the car, into the lobby and just like that it's like I'm not there anymore and she's off saying hi to the staff (who are all incredibly friendly) and heading for the back to go find friends. Fable comes home with a big smile and look of exhaustion after I pick her up. I get a night of quiet, and listening to her snore on the couch, and a pretty calm day after too. We both love coming here, and seeing all the dogs and how much fun they have. She won't be able to attend for a little while, but you can believe as soon as she's healed up from getting fixed, and is ready you'll see her running through that front door.

Before that, we enjoyed dog parks and meeting other dogs and their owners on our daily walks. She became aggressive during puberty. The Vet said let's wait to see what happens after the spay. Jade got more aggressive, not less. Desiree is a dog whisperer. When we met at our consultation, Desire walked into my backyard, and Jade snarled and bounded across toward her. I almost fainted watching my huge dog running toward her. Desiree did her trainer thing, and Jade completely relaxed. I watched Jade become putty in her hands within minutes, and I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. The training was detailed and extensive. My dog responds to me when I call her with a quiet "hey" when she starts to play with my cats or go towards the kitchen. She places in the house even when guests arrive, or someone rings the doorbell. Her PICA (eating non-food items) is almost completely gone. ( Jade is s/p a life-threatening bowel obstruction after eating a towel) She went to the dog park and played with a Golden until her energy was spent a few days ago. I can play with her off-leash and have confidence in my abilities to communicate with her. A couple of weeks after the training, Jade all of sudden began to be triggered by the satellite dishes and telephone polls on our walks. Well, you can imagine how difficult it became with aggressive barking and then refusal to move. I called Desiree, and she drove the 20 miles to my house immediately. She offered some recommendations, which I applied right away and I could see that the initial onslaught of fear dissipated over a couple of weeks. I signed the paperwork, took full possession, and brought him home. For two months, he was in my exclusive care. I paid for his food, and treatment for serious health issues that were not disclosed at the time of adoption, including gastrointestinal problems and significant weight loss. I invested my time, money, and emotional energy into helping him recover and stabilizing his behavior. For two months, he was my dog. Then on 2/24/26, I was suddenly told the adoption was "not finalized" on their end. No clear documentation was provided to support that claim, despite the signed paperwork and two months of uninterrupted custody. That same day, while I was not home, an individual associated with Folsom Dog Resort entered my residence and removed Odin while only a roommate was present. I did not authorize entry into my home. I did not authorize the removal of my dog. After bonding with him, rehabilitating him, and assuming full responsibility for him, he was taken and later transferred to another party. There was no court order. No formal legal process. No proper notice that would allow me to address whatever internal issue they claim existed. Losing a dog this way is devastating. It feels like something was ripped out of your home without warning. No adopter should experience that. If you are considering adopting through this rescue or working with this facility, get absolutely everything in writing. Confirm in clear terms that your adoption is fully finalized.
