They're trying, I think. We came here last season and it wasn't very busy so service was relatively quick. We have been here for half an hour and still haven't seen our first round of drinks that was after waiting 15 min for the waitress to remember where she was. . The waitstaff seems lost. Or just overwhelmed and there's less than 30 people here. The food has been great in the past. We were really looking forward to coming here this season but man not impressed at all! I want to like this place I really do! it has vibe/ambiance it's a cool place really. So to the Local... you need to step it up folks. You got a good thing here if you can raise your game. Side note a few acoustic panels here and there would help greatly with toning down the noise and echo. read more

My companion and i had dinner at The Local earlier this week. We ordered the hot lobster roll and the chicken teriyaki. The lobster roll was OK, tho rather light on lobster meat for the price. The chicken teriyaki looked and tasted like something you'd get from a take-out only Chinese storefront restaurant.....strips of chicken with a variety of chopped vegetables and rice in a too-sweet teriyaki sauce. Service was good, but the ambiance was ruined by the extremely loud customers who arrived after us. Their shouting and earsplitting outbursts of laughter were off-putting, to say the least. We would have stayed for dessert but couldn't wait to get out of there to escape the noise. read more

Appetizers were very good got the boom boom shrimp and cheese curds. We were there for lunch everything was cooked well service was great we ordered apple cider Moscow mukrs both were very good. The place itself is clean and perfect decor for the lower adirondacks. We'd definitely go back. read more

Clean and cozy restaurant with Adirondack decor. Recently opened in November 2022. One flat screen tv to watch games on. Decent size bar. Portions were generous and service was quick. Beef Rib eye and mushrooms none better, outstanding, grainy, moist perfectly cooked a great steak meal served covered with perfectly tasty cooked mushrooms. Was also a very generous cut of beef. Had Scallops several times they were perfect, fresh not frozen and perfectly presented cooked perfectly. All soups were delicious, the New England clam chowder as good or better than many you can eat at Cape Cod. Veggie string beans great. First time there the veggie medley side was fair overcooked on the droopy side. Been back several times this side veggie medley not presented. We hope they continue to keep the sides as great as the mains. read more

My husband and I won a gift certificate to the Local Dining and Spirits and went on Friday 12/08/23. The atmosphere was great, the bar is stunning and the restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. My husband ordered the French Onion Soup and the Burger with cheddar & bacon and loved every bite. Their french fries that came with it were oh so good - almost addicting! I ordered the Beef Empanadas which were AMAZING and the Chicken Wings with Sweet & Sassy sauce. I didn't prefer the sauce and the wings were a little overcooked, but they were gracious enough to cook me a new order with Garlic Parm sauce and they were great! We are very happy with our experience and will DEFINATELY be back to try some more items from the menu. read more

MANAGEMENT IS A DISGRACE. The only saving grace about this restaurant was our beautiful attentive server, Alicia. We waited almost an hour for our food while everybody else was being served, and when we asked about it, we were told they were just plating it now, but actually, it was never fired up and so when it came out because it was being rushed, my steak tips were rare, not medium, like I had asked And then sent it back to be cooked a little bit more and we waited another 15 minutes and by then it was overcooked so I decided to not have anything at all. our service said the manager offered a drink on the house and I said no thank you that's not necessary thinking that it was a nice gesture, but then she expected me to pay for half of my dish!!! I said absolutely not. I didn't eat any of it. The server was in the middle of this nonsense and I felt bad for her so I gave her a tip separately from the bill so her manager wouldn't punish her for us not agreeing to pay for half of a meal I never ate. The fried haddock with french fries was delicious, I have to say. It was crispy and flavorful and the fries were hot and fresh, but that's because they had just made our meal when I asked why is it taking so long? I couldn't believe the nerve of the manager and here's the best part. I then went to a local grocery store to see if there was something that I could pick up that I could prepare at the place we're staying and a girl was there and suggested where I should go and when I told her where I was she said oh my God I used to work there and the manager was horrible and degraded me in front of people when I was only 15 years old and I said OK now my feelings are validated about this piece of shit. So overall, I don't live here, so I'll never go back but if I come back for a visit, I would never go to this place ever again because of the poor management. read more

I've been three times. Every time was terrible. The fish in the fish and chips was so overcooked it was inedible. Ordered it a second time figuring the first time was a mistake and it was the same experience. The bruschetta was tooth-breaking hard. The penne alla vodka was a boring sauce on top of mushy pasta. Who can't cook pasta correctly ? Cesar salad seemed to have extremely low quality store bought dressing. Bar service is incredibly slow. The owner is incredibly demeaning to his staff, he told us he thought one of his waitresses was a bit slow (mentally). This restaurant is so incredibly mismanaged it's clear it only survives on tourism dollars. Definitely would not recommend eating here to anyone who isn't a masochist, there's plenty of good restaurants in Northville. If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. read more

Had the blackened blue salad and it was amazing. The steak portions were huge and the meat with cooked perfectly med rare to my request and was tender and tasty. Others in the party enjoyed a chicken salad a burger and a chicken special. Everything was 5-star with the exception of the chicken with mashed potatoes gravy and canned cranberry sauce. The food prep was slow but they were just transitioning from breakfast to lunch so maybe that was a contributing factor. All in all we'd return! read more

The food here was not bad. But service was slow. Only 2 servers for a packed restaurant. We were a party of 7. Only half the orders came out together. We had to wait 15 minutes for the remaining orders to come out. I will say our waitress was polite and apologetic. But that doesn't change the experience. read more

Called for reservations at 4 and was told we could have an early dinner. We were seated with the lunch menu. The waitress asked the kitchen and told us they were ready for the dinner menu. We ordered simple drinks and waited while the staff was getting the bar ready. Took about 15 min to get the drinks. The appetizer came and we had no silverware. I had to get up and get it from a table that was set up. When I told the waitress I took the silverware from another table. She said no problem! Should have said sorry I didn't give you silverware. I could understand if they were busy but the place was practically empty and we did call for reservations. We were only a party of 2. The food was good but they need to work on the customer service. A few more gluten free options would help also. read more

The food was good and service was good. We got a pork chop meal, a black &blue salad and chicken biscuit special. Nice place with a cozy atmosphere. My only comment is on my pork chop meal was a single small chop. My experience at other restaurants when ordering this same meal, you get either a double thick chop or 2 chops. I was still hungry! Service was atrocious. Seated at 5:30, salads at 5:50, told entrees would be served shortly at 6:10, told again at 6:25, server disappeared. at 6:40 had to approach another server to inquire about dinners, was told shortly. As we were preparing to leave entrees were served by yet another server at 6:50. Had to go to bar to request water refills. Finally original server came back and asked if we needed boxes, no explanation, no apology. We asked for check, no offer of complimentary drinks or dessert. Second time here. Second time completely disappointed. Hoped that they had ironed out the issues from when they first opened but unfortunately they haven't. Arrived at 6 for a birthday celebration for an 86 year old man. Waitress was very attentive. Took drink and dinner order immediately. Salads came out before appetizers (no big deal) and instantly. The meal then came to an abrupt stop. At 6:20 we finished our salads. At 7:15 we were still waiting for the appetizer. It was finally delivered and was almost inedible unless you wanted your teeth broken. At 7:30 ( they now had the order for an hour and 25 minutes) I asked where the entrees were. Was told it was taking so long because of the "well done pork chop". Asked to cancel the order, give me the current check and left. No reason for the ridiculous delay, especially since the place was empty. Had this issue the first time. Waited forever and everything came out ice cold. Never returning.
