Ambiance is great here, on beautiful Saratoga lake. It's hard to go wrong, it's a gorgeous view. And the folks working there are definitely kind and personable. Food came out fast and hot. I ordered the fish and chips, probably their number one seller. I'll be honest, it was more beer batter than fish...but I've had worse. The other thing we ordered was the fish taco, also a super popular dish, and that was fine, too. Overall I think the 3 star rating on Yelp is accurate. Not superb but not awful. Over Labor Day weekend, we stopped at Dock Brown's for lunch. The patio was crowded, but we were sat at a table with a nice view of the harbor. The food was a 3 with the positives being the Dock's Burger cooked to order a served with crispy French fries, and plenty of them. The Grilled Classic Chicken Sandwich was also served with fries was good, but nothing too special. As an appetizer, we ordered 2 Baked Pretzel Sticks which came out burned and hard as a tree stick delivered by a food runner. Our waitress was apologetic and brought us 2 more which were edible, but came out after our meals were already delivered. Service was not the greatest and maybe that is what you get on Labor Day Weekend, despite it being crowded. Drinks were ordered and not delivered and then our waitress came to check on us and verbally realized she forgot our drinks. The aforementioned over cooked pretzel sticks should never have been delivered in that condition. Thankfully it was a nice day, we were on the water and relaxing in good company. read more

If you're looking for a great beach spot for lunch, you have to check out Dock Brown's! We were in the area on vacation and this was suggested to us by the GM of a local hotel. I'm glad I decided to take her up on the suggestion, it was incredible! Dock Brown's overlooks this cute little "postcard" beach. The tables directly overlook the beach and water. The area is well-shaded and the slight breeze off the water is incredibly refreshing on a warm summer beach day! The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server was incredibly attentive and was on top of things. He helped guide us to what is the most popular on their menu, as well as his personal favorites. We started off with Cocktails and Mocktails. We both ordered the "Honeybee". The tea, lemonade, honey, lemon, and mint concoction was incredibly flavorful and refreshing, without being overly sweet. Given I don't drink, I ordered it as a Mocktail. It was equally delicious and refreshing. The only difference was the straw and no alcohol. For lunch, I already had my mind made up after my first look at the menu. I ordered the Fish and Chips. My guest went with the Cold Lobster Roll. Both come with coleslaw and hand-cut fries. The food arrived and it made quite the impression! The portions are absolutely massive and PLENTY of food! My fish and chips was nearly falling off the plate, it had to EASILY be half a fish or more! The hand-cut fries were to die for, hands-down THE BEST I have had in my life. The side that comes with the meal is plenty, so no need to share with anyone! My guest remarked about how fresh, light, and delicious their lobster roll was. They liked that is wasn't "drowned" in mayo like you see at many other places that serve lobster rolls. She equally enjoyed the hand-cut fries and fresh coleslaw. For dessert, we ordered the house specialty: Key Lime Pie. It was out-of-this world. As a Key Lime Pie fanatic, it checked every box and hit the spot! If you're looking for a lunch with a beach view in Saratoga, you have to come by Dock Brown's. Be sure to order "The Honeybee"! Three people then attempted to flag him down and he walked right past our table. So that's how it started. As for the food? It was average. We were looking for some outdoor dining options to enjoy the nice weather & came across Dock Brown's, deciding to give it a try on a Thursday night. We had a 5:30 reservation, which I'd encourage if you want to ensure outdoor seating, but besides the bar the indoor seating was empty - everyone was enjoying the lake view. There's not a lot of parking close to the building; permitted parking for the marina & inn is separate from the restaurant parking. The path is fairly easy to walk, but just something to keep in mind for less able-bodied patrons. We started with a round of drinks including the pictured Citizen Cider, a couple Miller Lites, and a mojito. The cider was the perfect punch of summer flavor with the raspberry tart/sweet blend hitting just right. For our apps, we split the pretzel sticks and the Korean BBQ wings. The pretzel sticks were delicious! I opted for the queso, which had just the slightest zing to it but nothing too crazy. My dad was a big fan of the wings. For our meals, my parents both got the fish & chips while I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. The bun was perfectly toasted & well-filled with meat. The pork was a sweet/smoky blend, not quite dripping in sauce like you expect good BBQ to do. The fish wasn't as crispy as my parents would've liked, but the portions were large, and the fries that came with it were done quite well. Our waitress Melissa was very friendly and seemed right on top of everything. From her we learned that they'll be staying open through the winter, so it'll be nice to come enjoy a cozy lake view here. While we didn't spend much time inside, there was an off-putting odor when we walked in and out. We stopped in for lunch and I ordered the Haddock Fish n Chips, and my husband got the Haddock Fish Tacos. The Haddock was EXCELLENT perfectly golden brown with the right amount of crispy crunch on the crust. The Fish itself was fluffy and flakey and very good. We really enjoyed our fish at this restaurant and would definitely visit again if we are in the area again. The serve was friendly and served us well. We were seated right away upon asking for a table for two on the deck. Before I reserved here I read many reviews on Yelp some of which sounded pretty terrible. I have to say that I was more than satisfied with this place. Staff was very friendly and polite Moscow mule was delicious Med wings were very good Fish and chips were really good Friends shrimp tacos were very good Hone made cole slaw was delicious. Okay so here's the scene: Beautiful day Just coached a doubleheader 15 travel baseball game. Our family and another family needed to eat fast. I didn't catch our servers name but he had personality and did everything we needed very timely. The food wasn't bad either. We had a pizza some chicken sandwiches and all that was good not great but i was happy and so was the rest of the table. The show stopper was the Rueben. Super good quality and they make their own corn beef this was not a store bought lump of sodium corn beef. Well we went to Dock Browns on Saratoga lake for Mother's Day dinner. Never have been and never would go back. I had made reservations and they never once said it was a buffet only at $35 each. It was ice cold and beyond over picked. French toast, eggs, ham, hash browns, bacon. Chicken wings, french fries and rice. Dessert only cheesecake bites. Nothing else. We saw the waitress stick her bare hands on the food to see if it truly was cold on three separate dishes. We saw them turn away walk-ins because they were low on food and the place was empty. Only three inside tables seated and a handful outside. We saw two groups come with reservations and when told buffet only decide to leave and as they left I heard the manager) or whom ever she was an older woman with blonde hair) say as they left "go fuck yourself" while gossiping about it to the other wait staff. If everyplace else is booked solid on a Saratoga summer night, Dock's might be a decent option. Limited menu. Average food according to the reports of the folks in my group. But the beer is cold and the outside seating has good views of the lake. It also struck me as a place for a younger crowd. I had a weird experience. After ordering a personal pizza and waiting an acceptable 20-25 minutes of cooking time, the server came over to say they were out of pizza at the exact same time the dinners for the other 3 people in my party came out. I'm not sure why they couldn't have told me this from the start. Instead, I was faced with ordering something different and then eating while the rest of my group was finished or just not having dinner. I chose the latter so I wouldn't hold up the group. Despite my experience, I have to believe (hope, maybe?) that it is not the norm. ... I'd go back for a couple beers and maybe a couple appetizers. I definitely wouldn't count on this for fine dining. Like I said, restaurants in the area can be long waits after one of the horse race cards. So if you don't have anything else lined up, give it a try. read more

I think this place was very nice the view was very nice someone was complaining about how the docks were full but I think it depends on the time I may be young but I enjoyed this place I got the classic chicken sandwich, it was absolutely amazing the fries are delicious and the staff were nice but the only down side is the bugs. Our happy hour group went here last Thursday. Our happy hour group consists of four senior couples. We like trying different places and as always are searching for bargains. Our initial research indicated that they offered five dollar wines and three dollar beers. When we arrived and ordered, we were advised that five dollar wines only applied to those sitting at the bar. We ordered the wines and when they arrived, We were surprised to find that the five dollar wines required an extra seven dollars for delivery. That's right. The cost of the wines was $12. You come here for the great seating, views and the very friendly staff who are always willing to help. Those are the things that make or break a place for me. If the food is spectacular but the service is crap, I won't return. However if the food is okay or good, I'll still visit if the customer service is great, which it is here. Ehhhhhh it was okay. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. The drinks were great I had a sunset my boyfriend had a thoroughbred we started w peek and eat shrimp. Ummmmmm very over cooked and took a while for napkins and plates after we got it. Then I got the shrimp tacos and side salad he got the fish and chips. Mine was decent but the dressing was extremely sour (champagne vinegarette) and his fish was like triple breaded. He loved the fries though. For dessert we caved and got the lava chocolate cake. Nothing lava about a 9 dollar piece of cake but def was good but very rich. We planned a wedding reception with Michelle and Tina.. they could not have been more helpful and made many suggestions. Then a few short weeks before, our ceremony venue fell through. I called Michelle in a bit of a panic. Michelle answers almost every request with "we can do that". They kept the tent up an extra week, they cleaned it out for us, they set it up, even painting over a permanent sign so it would look better. The ceremony was beautiful. Then we went inside for the reception where we found delicious food, smiling staff and a beautiful set up. I cannot say enough about how perfect it was. Sitting outside on the covered deck overlooking Brown's Beach on Saratoga Lake is a great place to have lunch on a nice day. If you have visitors from out of town, take them to Doc Brown's for a relaxing meal outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Saratoga Springs - especially during track season. This is a great spot in the summer when you can sit on the deck overlooking Saratoga Lake. Came for lunch on a racing season "dark day", made an online reservation to be sure I could get seated on the patio. My buddy and I both had the crab cakes. They were excellent, although a bit small. We got comfortable and talked a bit and ultimately were asked to leave as the waitress said she needed the table - even though there were other vacant tables on the desk and inside. She suggested we go to the bar, but the bar was packed. We left. Both of us had been there before but had not come back in a while. My guess is that my parents probably brought me to Brown's beach on Saratoga Lake as a child. I think there might have even been some kind of kids rides here back then. After I grew up I think I recall that the entire area fell into disrepair through neglect. That is no longer the case. I was quite impressed as we drove up. The beach looked nice and clean, the water looked inviting. Everyone outside looked like they were having a good time, and there was plenty of parking. There was also what appeared to be a relatively new building that houses both rooms for rent in an inn, and a restaurant with a large deck overlooking the beach and lake. The deck was filled when we arrived, but we were interested in sitting inside anyway, so we garnered a table by a window from the hostess. The two-sided menu offers Small Plates, Soups & Salads, and Sandwiches & Burgers on one side, and Entrées served after 4 pm on the other side. There were also several other menus that covered a variety of cocktails, wines and beers. Even though it was after 4:00 we were more interested in the sandwiches and burgers. The draft beers available were not extensive or too crafty, so we both settled on the Adirondack IPA ($7 each). My wife chose the Deep South Crab Cake BLT ($17) - a 4 oz. crab cake, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce on grilled sourdough. It was a very good looking sandwich, but it could have used more bacon and my wife thought the crab tasted a bit strange. I went with Chef Tim's Maine Lobster Roll ($17). Now I haven't had many lobster rolls in my many years, but every single one I've ever seen, whether I ordered it or someone else did, it always came on a long bun, like a hot dog roll, or a torpedo or hoagie roll. Needless to say I was quite surprised when my roll was a hamburger roll. The menu said buttered, grilled Kaiser roll, but I never bothered to read it. But there was a sufficient amount of lobster claws, knuckle meat, and celery with lemon essence, whole cilantro, and mayo that I found it filling enough that I didn't even consider dessert. It was a quite tasty sandwich and I really enjoyed the crispness of the toasted roll until it became soggy. I would consider ordering it again. I give it 3 1/2 stars The place is nice, overlooking the lake why the additional half star. My friends and I sat at the bar, the bartender wasn't very attentive and didn't notice when people actually needed drinks when ever completed another or just arrived to the bar. She was nice but got irritated by my friends calling her when they wanted her attention. They have a decent happy hour from 4-7 I believe it was with buy 1, get 1 beers and $4 mixed drinks. Not a massive beer menu but I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy. The food menu is okay, nothing special. Lots of sandwiches and small plates but the prices of the small plates were only a couple dollars less then the sandwiches that come with one side. There was approx 6 entrees and my friend ordered the meatloaf with potatoes and green beans and she said that was very good. The pulled pork sounded delicious (pictures attached of menu & meal). At first bite it was tasty but I didn't taste an overwhelming amount of BBQ flavor maybe it was the taste of the angry orchard BBQ sauce or the craft beer pub roll but something was off for me and the flavors didn't taste great together. The meat was tender though and there was enough of it. The side I selected was potato salad but it was German style served cold which I didn't care for cold. If I'm not mistaken German potato salad should be warm which brings out the flavor. Speaking of flavor I didn't really care for the mustard that I believe was added to it. It was brews and brats nice outside. We finally made it outside around 8 pm and enjoyed the bonfire while listening to live music and meeting new people. We we seated, but it took about 30 min for our drinks to arrive (they didn't have the beer they advertise on their beer list, and the ones they did have were delivered in a can rather than draft as advertised). Our appetizer that we requested come first arrived at the same time as 1/2 the dinner, other bits of dinner arrived a few minutes later - although the meal for one guest in our party never was put in, so we were all nearly finished with all the food when their dish finally arrived (30 min later - for a chicken sandwich - after realizing their mistake it should have been out in about 5 min.
