We were seated promptly upon arrival although did wait a bit for a server to appear. We arrived at the tail end of happy hour so that was nice. Happy hour is available at any table in the restaurant. We ordered appetizers of smoked trout dip and baked scallops. Both were tasty. Main courses were duck and fresh catch of the day which was trout. The trout and the veggies served with it were delicious. Whipped parsnips, roasted carrots, snap peas and spinach topped with a nice filet of trout. This place is small but very cute on the inside. The food I've had has been fine, but nothing notable and a couple of the fried dishes the table shared at trivia were pretty greasy. He confirmed multiple dishes with the chef before we ordered. For food, we started with the Truffle Parm Fries, Fried Brussels Sprouts, and the Bangin' Cauliflower. All were delicious. The cauliflower was extremely good, I can see why so many reviews mention it. For entrees, our group ordered the Short Rib Tacos, Jumbo Crab Cakes, Chilean Salmon, and the Avocado Salad with Seared Ahi. No complaints around the table. The meat in the Short Rib tacos is super tasty. Portions were good sized, however the Crab Cake dish is definitely smaller than the others. Good option if you aren't super hungry. Her feelings were hurt, so she played the "You-don't-need-to-speak-to-me-that-way" card. Eventually she recovered from the trauma and found an Official Roost Bartender to give me the bill. Mr. Suniga explained that he did not pay her to receive payments. As a solution, her "manager" advised I avoid The Roost in the future. Apparently, customers who want to pay are not welcome?
