My family and I ate dinner at The Roost while visiting the area for a few days. Since we were traveling from out of state we made a reservation ahead of time - although on a Wednesday evening at 5pm, it wasn't super critical, as the restaurant never got completely full. There are multiple seating options - inside, patio, or rooftop. We opted for the rooftop and the vibes were excellent. The weather was gorgeous and the rooftop patio is nicely decorated with live plants and a big bar running the length of the patio. Our server was excellent. I think his name was Danny. One of our party has an alcohol intolerance, so needs to avoid foods cooked with alcohol. Danny was super helpful in guiding our menu options with this information. He confirmed multiple dishes with the chef before we ordered. For food, we started with the Truffle Parm Fries, Fried Brussels Sprouts, and the Bangin' Cauliflower. All were delicious. The cauliflower was extremely good, I can see why so many reviews mention it. For entrees, our group ordered the Short Rib Tacos, Jumbo Crab Cakes, Chilean Salmon, and the Avocado Salad with Seared Ahi. No complaints around the table. The meat in the Short Rib tacos is super tasty. Portions were good sized, however the Crab Cake dish is definitely smaller than the others. Good option if you aren't super hungry. The Chilean Salmon was cooked perfectly. We didn't really have any complaints at all. Solid dining experience. Would definitely return if I'm ever back in the Longmont area. read more

We decided to travel into Longmont to meet our cousin for dinner and this place came highly recommend The interior is gorgeous- love the greenery and bright lighting of the dining room. We were also offered bar seating or the enclosed patio- so there are many options. Based on others reviews, we needed to order the banging cauliflower- and it was excellent. Highly recommend. I ordered the Chilean salmon and it was HUGE so took half of it home for lunch tomorrow. Very tasty. Husband has the crab cakes- they were pretty thin but there were three of them. It would have been better with more lump crab- the sauce and sweet potatoes were tasty. Our cousin enjoyed her ahi tuna bowl. Service was excellent! laurel took great care of us. When we first came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3, the place was totally empty. Despite that, they said we could only sit at the bar or on the rooftop. I was a little irritated, as it was slightly breezy, but I got over that quick once I tried the food. We had the steak frites, the Thai pork tacos, an old fashioned, and the chocolate decadence for dessert. The steak frites were great- the truffle fries were seasoned with garlic, and served with a great cream sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked rare. Super tender. But the tacos absolutely stole the show. Sweet and spicy with a touch of crunch, and the potato fries were stellar too! The old fashioned really let the whiskey shine, with just a touch of citrus. I think I would try a different dessert though- the decadence was good but didn't quite live up to the tacos. The interior was decorated very cute- mid century modern mixed with plants and some neon signs that said cute things. Our server was excellent- very friendly and on top of it. For as many times as I've been to Longmont over the years, this is the first time I've been to the roost and I feel like I've kinda missed out! It's so cute and seems like a perfect date night/girls' night place to grab dinner and drinks. I came in for a late lunch with my best friend on a Saturday recently right around Halloween. It wasn't busy at all (we admittedly came at a semi awkward time lol) so we were seated and helped right away. One of the first things I noticed about the place were the decorations and furniture. It was so cute!! I loved the decor and the tables had really nice pillows on the chairs, which was a great touch. The menu has a pretty good variety of different types of food; some more traditional selections - like the cheeseburger I got - and other items that I haven't seen before, like the polenta squares my friend ordered. This place seems like a really popular dinner spot and feels like it'd be perfect for a date or dinner with a few close friends. We were helped quickly, and despite our taking forever to decide what we wanted because we couldn't stop talking, the meals came out quickly and plates were hot and looked great. My friend had been here before and really liked the Buffalo cauliflower, but said she also really enjoyed the polenta. My burger was super tasty too and hit the spot for me lol. It was cooked well and very fresh tasting. Pricing is pretty reasonable, but I'd guess the bill would easily and quickly get high with drinks and whatnot if you're in a group or on a date or whatever. Parking seems like it might get a little crazy during peak busy time, but there is a lot of street and lot parking in the general vicinity (along the main drag) if you're okay with a short walk to the restaurant. The Roost has become one of my new favorites in Longmont, Colorado. My wife and I were on our way to a play in Greeley Colorado, and decided to stop at The Roost for dinner beforehand. I'm glad we did because I really enjoyed this place. The decor was nice and food was even better. My wife and I got the steak frites and the Thai tacos. My favorite was the Thai tacos and it's one of the best tacos I've ever had. It had so much flavor and the the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. The steak frites had truffle fries covered in steak and some type of gravy. The steak was so tender and juicy. We also got some sweet potato fries and those were good as well and came with some honey mustard sauce that had the perfect amount of horseradish in it. The service was fast and the waitress was super helpful and talked in detail about her favorite dishes. You know the place is good when the employees get excited about talking about the food they serve. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Longmont. read more

I was disappointed with our experience at The Roost. We had reservations for 6:45 p.m., but still had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for our table. Once seated, we had to ask for utensils, and it took another 15-20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. We were told the kitchen was running behind, which at least set expectations, but unfortunately the service never improved. Our server was not very attentive and rarely checked on our table. At one point we went to the bar to order another drink, only to be told we had to order through our waitress--which was frustrating given how difficult it was to get her attention. The one bright spot was the drinks. They were well made and arrived in a timely manner. The food also came out all at once, which was not the case for some of the surrounding tables. However, the meal itself was underwhelming. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, and while it was fine, it wasn't anything memorable. The Roost went to go eat there a while back they're Short Rib Sandwitch. It took so long to get it. People are leaving sitting down getting their food. I was still waiting for my sandwich. Had a great gathering with coworkers at the Roost while visiting Longmont. It's in a great area with other eating establishments nearby but I would definitely recommend trying this one. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but if you get there earlier, you should have not problem. I had the steak frites and it was delicious...had a hard time choosing as the menu had allot of great choices. Our waiter was awesome and was very helpful with the menu. We just had a very disappointing meal at the Roost, and won't be back. Our server was great, but the food was honestly awful (seems to be worse and worse every time we go). Bland, boring, and no flavor (even the fries, and I usually love any and all fries!!). The salmon and crab cakes were dry, and the tomato soup was not seasoned. The bar area is also excessively noisy, and our bill was very high. We dine out a lot, and this was honestly the worst meal we've had in a very long time. read more

Back again!!! But they have a new app that is worth a look Hate to keep updating the same restaurant but we literally come here once a week. All the same amazing dishes. - High quality, well presented etc. But the new one is the lemon Burrata appetizer (see pic). A gently lemon highlighted burrata ball sitting on a bed of sweet smased tomato served with a grilled focaccia is now my new favorite (old and a very close #2 is the bangin cauliflower) Any one of those three items would be amazing on their own but together it will wake you up. Frankly I can't figure out the tomato - very gentle flavorings, cold, sweet, not acidic, in a thick sauce. The focaccia is dense and flavorful, thick cut and grilled. Side note - they just got through with a major remodel of the dining room. added another big private table/room and hip chairs and tables to up the ambiance game. We had reservations to celebrate two birthdays down the street and were greeted there by locked doors and no lights. Knowing that The Roost was a block away, we walked down, hoping that they would be open and have room for our group of seven. Shockingly, they did have room, and we were seated immediately in the bar area! Our server was at the side of our table right away and took our drink orders. It was pretty loud in there (not their fault - they were the only restaurant on the street that seemed to be open and were PACKED), but we had a great time catching up while we sipped our spicy Bloody Mary's. I ordered the Chilean Salmon that comes with a saffron cream, orange salsa, pesto farro and roasted cauliflower and was greeted with the largest piece of salmon I've ever received at a restaurant. It was delicately seasoned and flaky, and the citrus salsa and creamy sauce was a perfect complement. The pesto farro was al dente and studded with roasted carrots and peppers, as well as tender kabocha squash and cauliflower. I ended up having to get a to go box to take home another meal's worth of food. We received a complimentary dessert and opted for the gluten free Chocolate Decadence so the entire table could partake since we were all over stuffed and ready to roll out of there. We had dinner & drinks Sat 8/23/25 at The Roost bar & restaurant in the creative & historic district of Longmont, CO. Big & boisterous place with bar, two dining areas & an outdoor deck in back. We sat at the bar and were immediately acknowledged by the bartender, "PM M"? (no name given). We ordered our first drinks, local Left Hand Milk Stout ($7.50) & Pinot Grigio ($9) while looking over the menu. Dinner drinks were the local Dale's Pale Ale ($5) & another pinot grigio. Dinner was scallop chowder ($8/12) & a Cubano sandwich ($18). I really like a good Cubano and I ordered it because it was made the right way with marinated mojo pork + black forest ham + white cheddar + pickles + garlic mayo + yellow mustard + crisp telera bread. First off, I want to say the servers at the Roost in Longmont are superb. We have been going to Roost for a night out or taking visiting guests out to eat, since we moved here 7 years ago. However, since the remodel and over the last year or so, I've found the food overpriced and not what it used to be. Its fine. But it used to feel like a treat to eat there. The final straw for us came about a week ago. I made a reservation and requested to sit in the back, on the porch. Not a fan of the new seating in the front room. We were seated at a four top, that was nested very close to 2 giant group tables. Didn't think much about it, but Once two new parties were seated at those large tables, it was impossible to hear myself think. Not sure why the hostess decided to seat 2 very large groups in such an intimate space, or why smaller tables would be in such a crowded area. I felt like I was in a brew pub, not a restaurant. We had already been served our food, otherwise I would have requested to move. In hindsight, i wish we had. I asked for to go boxes, and we left. While it was not anyone's fault for large and rowdy groups coming into the restaurant, I do put blame on the inexperienced hosts for their seating choices. I watched them use an iPad app to notate where people were seated. A seasoned host would have made a better suggestion for a table for 2, other than in that area of the restaurant where they seat large groups. A seasoned host would consider all those factors when seating guests, not just how to cram people into tables. I had a similar experience at Jefe's, another restaurant with the same owners. Went in there for dinner. It was crowded. Told a table for 2 would be 40 minutes, but when we went to the bar to try to find a seat while we waited, there were 2 high top 2 tops empty. Again, young and inexperienced hosts. We left and went to Mariposa's instead. No waiting and excellent food. There are a lot of options for diners in Longmont who are looking for a good food and an experience that is worth the expense of eating out. My husband and I have been here four or five times. The new look of furniture and atmosphere is beautiful. Such comfortable chairs, beautiful hanging plants from the ceiling. The food is still delicious as it has been in the past and servers are kind and attentive We went last night (December 10, 2025 )just for a drink each and two desserts. Our server was beyond attentivr, even though it was extremely busy with a large group of business people. She obviously loves her job. The drinks were amazing. My husband and I ordered three shareables and I had a side garden salad. The lettuce wraps were unfortunately not good- the meat was very oily and would drip down our arm when we'd try to eat the wraps. The hummus and pita were average. The tuna nachos were awesome but very simple- ahi tuna, jalapeño, and some type of aioli drizzled on top of tortilla chips. This would've been a great hangover food! I came here with a group of 8 people on a recommendation. We were seated right away and the server was excellent. He was attentive and answered everyone's questions. We started with the banging cauliflower and this was by far the best part of the meal. It was a great way to start. I split the steak frites and short rib platter. Both dishes were extremely disappointing. The steak frites came with a brown butter sauce but that was very misleading. It was more of a plain butter poured on top which ruined the dish. The steak was flavorless and the bacon was candied and overly sweet. You only got 6 small slices of steak. The short rib was not fall apart tender and had many fatty pieces. We were looking forward to both dishes after an amazing appetizer but it fell short. Overall service was great but food was not good. My family is visiting Longmont from California and stopped in here by luck when walking down the Main Street in town. My 11 year old grandson loved his bowl of scallop chowder. My daughter had the short rib poutine and shared it with the table- rich and delicious. My son ordered the lamb gyros and thought they were outstanding, with heavily seasoned lamb and fresh veggies. I didn't care for my Cuban sandwich- a giant thick slab of pork on it, while generous, just overtook all the other flavors. If you're after a meat sammie, there's your order! We shared a roasted root vegetable appetizer with chunks of beets, sweet potatoes and other delights in a wonderful chimichurri sauce that we all loved.
