The Local has become one of our go-to spots, not only because it's just a few blocks from our house, but because the food is consistently outstanding. The Nashville hot chicken is fantastic, and their burgers are absolutely phenomenal. We also love that they're always changing up the menu, so there's always something new to try. Everything we've had has been fresh and full of flavor. On top of that, the service is always friendly, fun, and delivered with a smile. It's clear that the staff takes pride in what they do. I have zero complaints. I was hungry. We got the pot sticker appetizers, which were so very good. I wanted to try all the fish so I got "The Fishmonger", which was cod, walleye and perch. Everything was very lightly breaded, not greasy, not crunchy, just delicious fish flavor. The potato pancakes came on their separate little plate and were very thick and could have used more flavor like maybe onion powder. They served true marble rye with a salted crust, but very tiny pieces. The cole slaw was fresh, but plain, no seasoning. This is a very popular and crowded place, so be prepared for that. Service was quick and servers were polite and friendly. It was a pretty loud place, making conversation difficult. Stopped in for an early dinner on Monday Jun 22nd .. found the last parking spot which meant they were already very busy..ordered drinks with a waitress in training who took our order..ordered Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer which was good and then had a very bland, dry 10" pizza which barely had any red sauce or overall flavor.. Our biggest disappointment was the noise level! LOUD Been here several times, and that is the one thing that is what we remember. And this last time we came on a Friday night at 9:00. It is always loud, and the server confirmed that as well. Now it's loud because people there are having a good time. It's a bar that serves food, and pretty good food it is. It's just that for us, it's too loud to be comfortable. (I used a Phone App to measure, and the average noise level was 82 dB, which is similar to loud singing). The place was about 3/4 full when we got there. People around the bar, and most of the tables were filled. We got a spot back in the corner. Our server got to us right away, and filled us up with cocktails. My Elijah Craig Old Fashioned was very good. We ordered the Perch Fish Fry and the Wine-O Burger. It didn't take too long to get the food. All of which was hot, tasty, and good portions. The potato pancakes could have been cooked more (even after we asked for more crispy). The Smash Burger was good as well, with a good portion of wine sauteed onions. Plenty of fries. For people that don't mind the noise level, and party atmosphere, this is a good choice. Just not a place that we are likely to return too. read more

This place is run by the owners of the Hale House in Haley's Corners before it burned. There are 14 tables of 2 or 4 persons and a large horse shoe bar that seats 15 or 16 persons. When we got there at 5:30 on a Friday night there was no place to park close, and I had to walk about 300 yards to the south where I parked in a school parking lot that was done for the evening. The hostess told us we had a er minute wait and took our cell phone number to alert us when it was our turn. Almost to the minute, we were texted to sit down at a table. We perused the menus while waiting for our server , Morgan. There were 4 or 5 servers helping each other. We ordered a fish monger item of walleye, perch and cod (two of each, long with coleslaw and fries and small pieces of rye bread and butter. There were kitchen split the huge order into two plates which was more than we two could eat and it was cooked to perfection and tasty. It was worth the wait, but we would try to get there earlier to reduce the wait time. read more

First time here. It doesn't look very big or fancy from the outside, but it's what's on the inside that counts! Super cute and clean inside. There are tables and a bar. The food was yummy. The pizza is really cheesy so bring your lactaid because it's very yummy. The burger was nice, fresh and tasty. Our waitress (can't remember her name, young, long brown? hair ) was so sweet and friendly. We really appreciated her wonderful service. So local We've had two recent visits. Tried to stop over a year ago but had a long wait. Anyways, what a fantastic spot in the oddest location. Definitely the go to for New Berlin and Muskego folk. Solid eats, started with the curds and had the fish fry on both stops. Great service and a nice selection of drinks. Didn't feel rushed at all, noise level is not too bad, even with a full house. I found The Local a year ago and returned again when I was in town. The staff is friendly and welcoming; they make you feel like a local and embody the Midwest hospitality. The food was on point and flavorful. The elote burger was a special and it lived up to the expectation. The French fries were hot and crisp. The service was top notch and I never saw an empty glass during the meal. They had big TVs throughout the restaurant and they had college bowl games on, so you do not have to worry about missing any part of the game. We have never had a bad meal at The Local. Last visit we showed up on a Friday when they were about to shut down the kitchen. Our wonderful server assured us we could order anything off the menu, even though we arrived so late. We had the smash burger and the always excellent Hot Honey Salad. A+++ menu options! It is always a bit loud, but a very fun atmosphere. Next table over ordered a slice of cake that could have fed a family. I don't know why we have never ordered dessert but, if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to ask about their cake menu! read more

Took my grandfather to lunch on a week day (He loves their sister restaurant The Hale House) and had my 2 year old with me on top of it. The service staff was amazingly attentive and kind to both my child and grandfather. The space is small and bare. I do wish the place had a little more of an identity. It is in the middle of a residential neighborhood hence the name "The Local" which is nice. It has its own parking lot also. I had the Buffalo Trace sour to start as a drink and it was ok, but not amazing. We ordered burgers, prime rib sandwich, Nashville chicken sandwich, and a chicken wrap. We had fries and a side salad. All of the food was very good and the portion sizes are large. The side salad had very few lettuce leaves in it and was primarily a pile of cut onion and olives. This was the only gripe I had. This bar stays pretty busy in Muskego. We went on a Friday night for a table of 4 and had to wait 10-15 minutes. I bought some pull tabs waiting for the table but you could test your luck with other gambling machines. Short Rib Melt - Favorite meal of the night. The short rib was tender and melted in your mouth. Toasted Meatball - This meatball sub was too clean to eat. I expect at least 5 napkins used and a shirt stained when I eat a meatball sub. This sub unfortunately did not deliver with their sauce. Shrimp Margarita Pizza - Surprisingly classic but with a lil skrimp spin. Fish Monger - Glad I tried all three but I think the walleye won out of the bunch. Ranch was homemade and dilly. Loved it with the pizza and fries. I would say the Local is rightfully named. Was looking for a pizza option and there aren't a ton in New Berlin. I saw this place had a crab Rangoon pizza and knew I had to give them a try. We ordered a couple of pizzas. One cheese and bacon for the kids and a Sicilian steak for me and my better half. Thin crust, cut party style, and carryout in a paper sleeve with little pizza topper table thibgies to keep the paper off the cheese. Was Chicago tavern style and was outstanding. If you grew up around Chicago back in the day the smell and look reminded me of Aurelio's. Super delicious. We all loved it. The cheese curds were super unique. Cut into cubes fried and crispy but not breaded and greasy. Super good. My kids are curd snobs and they devoured them before I could get a second one. Even after all this the highlight for me was the wings. I got 6 wings with Sriracha honey garlic sauce. These were some of the crispiest wings I've ever had. Meaty and sauced just right. Not breaded and meaty. Loved them and was immediately upset I didn't order 12. We will be returning to try other things on the menu. This place is great read more

I learned about The Local when they donated pizza for a school event. That right there is enough to make me a loyal customer! The pizza was excellent, too, so ever since that day, I make excuses to carry out. I love their Alfredo pizzas but their red sauce is also delicious, so it's a tough choice. I would love if they had jalapeños. they are heavy handed with toppings and have creative flavors like crab Rangoon. I have not dined in. They do a brisk bar business. The place is clean and fun, and everyone knows each other - I am too shy to hang around. The takeout service is great! I literally found out about The Local earlier in the day from a post on social media. I audibled on the plans I had for dinner and decided to go to The Local instead and get their two specials for this week. My order consisted of prosciutto mozzarella sticks and a fried chicken dinner pizza. I'm a big fan of mozzarella sticks and think it's fun to try different variations. I didn't love the prosciutto in them and would have preferred regular mozzarella sticks, but I didn't dislike like them either. The pesto alfredo dipping sauce was surprisingly good. I don't normally dip mozzarella sticks or cheese curds in a sauce, but I used that quite a bit. If you've had a famous bowl from KFC, imagine that on a pizza. The fried chicken dinner pizza had mashed potatoes, cheese, corn, gravy, and popcorn chicken. It also comes with scallions, but I got mine without. Again, not mind blowing, but still good. I liked how crispy and thin the crust was. I didn't look extensively at their menu because I knew immediately that I wanted these two items. If I see something else that's interesting when I do take the time to look at it, I would probably come back. As a note, when you turn on to Hillendale Dr from College Ave it looks like a residential area and the restaurant comes out of nowhere. If I didn't have it open on my map app I probably would have driven right past it. read more

Well, let me tell ya folks, The Local's hype....she's for real!! Went last Sunday morning and was excited to try something new around the home area. A 4$ Bloody Mary special, and other deals for SATURDAY and SUNDAY!! That's unheard in this day and age. We had the Nashville chicken sando (on a split), and that cornflake crunch was on point. I hate pickles, but that sandwich/pickles combo worked like a fine symphony of flavor. The fries were crispy, fluffy on the inside, and hot!! If you're getting that sandwich, don't be a bi**h and get some healthy side. The fries are worth the cheat. In addition, the service was friendly and very informative about the establishment. Great fish fry! I had the baked cod with bread crumbs and spices; it was delicious. My husband had fried perch which was also extremely good. The fish was light even though it was fried. Praise for The Local in Waukesha! My wife a former Wisconsinite found this terrific restaurant while we were visiting from California. We greeted the moment we entered and were seated quickly. The staff is friendly and the food was terrific! Lucky to have come in on Fish Fry Friday - and I indulged. My wife kept it light with a chicken Cesar Salad, but we also tried the arugula/fig/prosciutto flatbread. Yum! Our waitress was friendly and really seemed to enjoy talking to her customers. Today was my wife and I's first time giving The Local a try. We were NOT disappointed! In fact, we were smiling the entire time. We loved how they had the place decorated. Even the board they use to give you the check was a nice little touch. Just a great atmosphere altogether. Tasia was our waitress and she is absolutely amazing at her job. Super friendly and amazing to everyone equally. Service was beyond expectations. Compliments to the chef and the person(s) who thought up this menu! The cheese curds are the best I have ever had. They have a ranch and chipotle ranch sauce that they make. If you aren't a fan of Ranch, try this one. You might just become a fan because it was spectacular! If you leave this place still hungry, that's because you overeat, which is very very unhealthy. ;) I tried the Reuben sandwich and decided to get a side salad instead of fries. Why is the side salad even impressive and so incredibly delicious?! They are not shy with their proportions either! perfect pile of meat, sauerkraut and sauce! If you haven't tried this place, do it. Super excited to finally give this place a try! We love the Hales House so we figured The Local would be just as great. There's on-site parking with roughly 15 spots. The place isn't big so expect a cozy atmosphere. The bar is quite large and can seat up to 15 people plus two 2-man tables. There are five gaming machines in the bar plus an ATM. There are three 65" TVs as well for sport enthusiasts. There's 9-10 tables for dine-in with a combination of 2 and 4 chairs. We chose to sit in the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender. Drink orders were promptly taken and delivered in minutes. For lunch my husband ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and I ordered a 10" pepperoni pizza with mushrooms and basil. It took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive and it was piping hot! The Nashville chicken sandwich is huge! Good thing he chose not to include the side. Husband said it was slightly overcooked and requires mayonnaise. The chicken was juicy and overall flavor is very good; just the right amount of heat. B+ The pizza has a thin, crispy, cracker crust. The pepperoni was very good, mushrooms were freshly cooked, and basil was chopped. The cheese is good and has a nice pull when you pick up a slice. The sauce is a bit bland and could use a little more seasoning. I give it a solid A. The service is outstanding! The staff is friendly and attentive. We never had had an empty glass. Overall, we give this place an A and we'll DEFINITELY be back! It's so nice to have more local restaurant options in the area. Wow just wow! We ordered the bang chicken wrap with fries, salmon salad and my very critical mom ordered a burger with salad. Everything tasted excellent! The chef has an eye for detail and knows how to make every part of the meal taste wonderful. Even the salad had small cut veggies and the hamburger had perfectly diced raw onions. My bang chicken tasted SO good and the fries were done perfect (not too potato, not too salt and perfectly crisped). Service was so busy but they handled everything perfectly! Nothing was missed. The Local is an incredible place where every menu item is a home run. My coworkers and I find ourselves coming back to the local nearly every week and ordering something different each time because we know it will be good. Even when it's packed, the service is great and friendly. The cheese curds are perfect, the wino burger is probably the best burger I've ever had, and the orange mule is so good I don't feel bad having one at noon. I also highly recommend the short rib sandwich, the chicken sandwich, and the strawberry wings.
