First time at Mayor's in Waukesha. Housed in a historic building, both nationally and state registered. Small parking lot, but there's a patio for outdoor dining and a decent sized bar area. Main floor is split into several rooms, each with its own set of tables. Went for brunch with my brunch group, Gals that Brunch. This is a casual sit down spot. Service was attentive and friendly. Staff accommodated our group and split checks so each of us got a separate bill. I had the Monte Cristo ($14) -- ham, Swiss, and scrambled eggs between two pieces of french toast, dusted with powdered sugar, with a side of fruit. Paired it with the Watermelon Smash (La Crosse Distilling watermelon vodka, strawberry, lemon, lime). With tax and a nice tip, i paid $28...note there is a credit card fee and both credit and cash price were clearly listed on the bill. Food wasn't fancy, but it was tasty. Portions were generous enough that everyone at the table left with a to-go box. We were all satisfied with the experience. read more

Each and every Food item from Friday fish fry, baked, broiled, hand breaded, cod, perch, appetizer, to steak dinners every menu option is Delicious, Drinks Refreshing, Service Fast, Friendly, Enthusiastic Ambiance Clean, Bright, Refreshing. They have definitely turned the former Eric's Steak House around! It's now a thriving, vibrant, fresh and delicious. I recently visited Mayor's Restaurant with a group of friends for a light meal the other evening. I really appreciated our server, Salina. She was witty, resourceful, accommodating, engaging, and kept our beverages full, despite the large number of us. She had our party in one room and then other tables through the restaurant (our group occupied one of the rooms due to its size). As someone who has spent a career in the hospitality industry, that kind of service is VERY hard to find since COVID. And we had separate checks, she rocked it no problem. Again, hard to find. It's a charming building, and the new look is fitting for the menu and atmosphere. The crafted drink menu and tap beer selection were respectable, and nothing outrageously priced either. That went throughout the menu; it's not huge, and the price points are average, but it's done right. The bulk of my party ordered burgers; the Mayor's burger and brisket burger getting several nods apiece. Another ordered the Cajun pasta with crispy chicken (recommended by Salina) and he loved it. BLT was enjoyed throughly as well. I ordered the Blackened Cajun Chicken sandwich. Having filled up on mozz sticks and my fries (I hate cold fries) I could only finish half of it, but I was impressed. The chicken was seasoned good without overdoing it, and filled the entire French roll, which itself was very good too. The bread held up to the ingredients, including lettuce and tomato, which I usually avoid in case I don't finish like this visit. Didn't matter, the next day the bread still had that great chew, tomato still dripped out when I bit down, impressive. Didn't get all slopped up from sitting in a container overnight. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

We went here again on Friday 9/11/26 because I love their fish fry. I have to say honestly that their fish fry is the 3rd best in Wisconsin and I have been to friday fish fries all over the state of Wisconsin and I am fussy about my fish fry. Wisconsin is known for its fish fry on friday nights and this fish fry has an amazing crust that is crunchy. Its handbreaded. Tartar sauce also amazing. The staff are really great. Lupe was our server again and she was awesome. And Salina (hope I spelled it right) was also great helping with drinks and other things. You can't go wrong in going to Mayor's restaurant (formerly Eric's Porterhouse. Frankly its cleaner, brighter, has a great ambiance. We found this warm and cozy neighborhood restaurant and decided to give it a try -- and I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere is welcoming, the people are wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. This has officially become my new favorite place to eat in Waukesha County. I started with the Sangria Flight because I'm definitely more of a wine-before-beer person, and I loved being able to try the different flavors. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, which made the experience feel even more personal. They're currently offering an Oktoberfest special, so of course I had to try the Brat Burger -- or Burger Brat, whichever you want to call it! It was GREAT! Generous portions, delicious food, and a really comfortable neighborhood atmosphere where you feel right at home. We enjoyed everything -- the food, the ambiance, and especially the people. I'll definitely be back. Next on my list: the Beer Flight and breakfast! So happy we found this place! read more

Stopped in to try their fish fry and I ordered 3 pieces of panko hand breaded cod with French fries. The waitress delivered 2 pieces but she told me that they dropped one and put in a new piece instead of serving the one that fell one the floor, so that tells me that they are going above and beyond with safety protocols and I love that. The fries were crispy and the coleslaw was good and creamy. I didn't have room to eat the 2 slices of rye bread. And yes I will order it again read more

We had a lovely dinner at Mayor's over the weekend. I hadn't been when it was Eric's but you can tell they've given it a bit of a refresh while maintaining the historic charm. We were seated upstairs - which does seem like a bummer for the waitstaff - and the tables were initimate but far enough from one another to not be distracting. Seated at 4:30pm for a Friday fish fry, but 15 minutes later, no one had even come to our table. Entire restaurant had five or less tables seated - two other tables in the room we were in. Stood up to walk out and the host said, "Bye," to us like he assumed we'd eaten and were leaving already! He had no clue we'd been waiting for service! New name and ownership are doing a lot better than the past establishment here. My main complaint is how popular the place is. It can be very crowded and hard to get in. Took us the 4th try to get a reasonable wait and get in. My wife and I both had the fish fry and it is one of the better ones in the area. Friends went for breakfast and raved at the good value their weekend only breakfast was. Will have to try to get back. Parking is lacking for the volume of customers, they do have some but limited. read more

Terrible!!!! We won't go back! The chicken noodle soup tasted like progresso, except progresso has more meat and vegetables in it. The spaghetti sauce was ragu, at least it was that bad. read more

My wife and I had dinner at Mayor's last night to celebrate my birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We started with an appetizer of Arancini, creamy spinach and rice balls that were deep fried and served with a marinara sauce. It was the beginning of a wonderful dinner. My wife ordered the Mayor's hamburger, a half pound patty with onion rings and the Mayors' glaze, and I had the rack of ribs with the Mayor's glaze. Both came with fries, and I also had a side salad. The salad was fresh, but too large as a side, the rack of ribs were meaty, tender and pefectly prepared. The glaze was unique, very flavorful and very light. The highlight of the meal! Prices are very reasonable, and the service by Anabelle with an assist from Mike was first rate. We will definitely be returning again soon, and encourage everyone to try this new dinner option in Waukesha. read more

Love that it is family owned and downtown Waukesha! We went there for brunch. I can see the potential. The music didn't fit. The food was basic breakfast items and was good. My hope is they add a few more adventurous items. The service was good. You can tell they are still figuring it out which is fine. read more
