The local burger topped with candied bacon and an onion jam with jalapeño aïoli on the side no bun (how I asked for it) side salad.
Cindy K.

4 Stars because, Prices are super high for small town if you want something outside a burger. However I also appreciate the slow atmosphere and cigar lounge music, I got their "local burger" topped with a candied bacon and an onion jam and their jalapeño aïoli which actually was very tasty for the burger and the side salad. Whoever plated this night, thank you, I appreciate the presentation it was very appealing to the eye, not sloppy. The old-fashioned was one of the more pricier that we've ever gotten, the orange twist was inside the ice ball, aesthetically it looked neat but would prefer to have the orange rind (peel) twisted and in the glass to have the oils in the whiskey . Service was quick and attentive. Will be back

Our neighbors recommended so we had to try. First time did not disappoint. Debra took great care of us. Comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. New restaurant (18 months) with menus that have a nice variety for everyone. We enjoyed the prime rib sandwich with side salad (need a bigger bowl to toss dressing) and the grilled chicken with broccoli....both very good with leftovers for dinner. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved the food and customer service. Ordered fried green tomatoes, firecracker appetizers.. so delicious. Ordered the local burger with candied jalapeños and cheese fritter and it was great to share with my husband. Would recommend this place.

Seasonal drinks!

We were at the caverns and asked our tour guide for food recommendations. He mentioned he hadn't been here, but heard it was good, but pricey. It was our anniversary so we decided to splurge. Appetizer -Fried green tomatoes. Good, but a little lacking in something. The tortilla chicken soup was more like a delicious chip dip than a soup, but we enjoyed it immensely. Seasonal cocktails, expensive but TASTY! Note, wine list is very short, and could use more mid range wines. Tip, pay the $2 to upgrade your brussel sprouts. Easily the best thing I had, well except for dessert. Salmon was amazing, and the corn had such a lovely char flavor. Can't go wrong with mashed potatoes, the plate was perfect. The rib eye was very good. The garlic green beans were also good. But the Brussel sprouts! A must try. As mentioned, it was our anniversary, and they brought us a dessert gratis. Super kind. Before we ordered, our server had mentioned the ice cream sandwich was to die for, so we also ordered that. It...was...to die for. Another must have. We live about 2 hours away, but I'm looking forward to coming back when the seasonal menu changes.

Pepper Jack Fireballs

Seated promptly, waitress came over promptly for our drink order. The restaurant was very clean and had a pleasant atmosphere. We ordered Pepperjack Fireballs, Lobster Bisque, Crab Cakes and Toasted Sour Dough Club. The Pepper Jack Fireballs were ok. They were a touch overcooked and the best thing about them was the pepper jelly. Wife's side salad has ample ingredients but was a little on the small side. The Lobster Bisque was very flavorful, the Crab Cakes were excellent and the Toasted Sour Dough club was huge and enough to feed the both of us. It was very good also. It's a little pricey but overall a good value for your money.

The food is fresh, and the menu is brilliantly crafted. They use the Butcher on Main for their meats, the quality is better than your typical high dining in Nashville. They take special care for gluten and dairy allergies, so you can trust your food. The inside makes for a nice date night restaurant and the patio offers a refreshing place to stop between hikes.

Came here for a family lunch to celebrate our engagement. The staff were so supportive and friendly. The food was fantastic. And the space is comfortable yet tasteful. Really couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Tucked in the heart of downtown McMinnville is the beautiful Local Restaurant. You will feel like you are stepping back in time to a jazzy speakeasy. You will be greeted with a big warm smile and promptly sat at a cozy booth or bar top table. Every was super friendly and the food came quickly. We started with the fried green tomatoes. The batter was very crunchy and the sauce was a nice pairing (a bit more or a drizzle over the top would have leveled it up). Having so many excellent choices was hard to decide. I went with a caesar side salad and the chicken tikka pops. They had great flavor, but I would not peg that as tikka more charbroiled jerk equally as good. My mom ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with no bread. This had excellent flavor and paired with the brussels was a yummy decision. I definitely want to visit again soon to try some of the other options!

Great little spot with yummy food. Prices are a little high but worth it for some good food. Service was great as well.

This was quite a surprise for a small town! The environment and service were excellent. The food was really, really good! If they used real lump crab meat for the crab cakes, they would have gotten 5 stars! But the crab cakes and lam chops were outstanding. We didn't even need the salt shaker which is unusual in restaurants today! The cocktails were also great! This is Nashville quality (and prices) in small town McMinnville! Well done!

We came for dinner on Thursday evening. We had reservations and our table was waiting. Leo was our server and he was personable and knowledgeable, he did a great job. Recommend the salmon, the pork chop, the Brussels sprouts, and the crab cake appetizer was exceptional. We enjoyed our meal - and I think you would as well.

I would not recommend this place for NYE. They had an extremely limited menu that was not published beforehand. If it had been, we wouldn't have gone. There were several gin drinks, one bourbon, and one mocktail you could add vodka to. That's all. You couldn't order any other drinks. We hate gin. So we stuck with the bourbon cocktail. It was 0% consistent. They said it was a batch, but every drink we had tasted different. Maybe the mix wasn't mixed well. Not the end of the world. It was still a decent drink. What was terrible is that only half way through service they ran out of the drink and would not make more. They said they were saving the rest for the next seating. So we were left with no drink options we liked. That's a big deal when you've *bought tickets* to be there. So we paid to be at a bar where we weren't given access to anything we liked and weren't told this would be the case when we bought the tickets. You have a whole bar there. Come up with another drink on the fly to replace the one you're out of. After several people complained, the bartenders said they would pour bourbon neat or on the rocks. Yeah, I can do that at home for free. If you are going to make people pay for access to an extremely limited menu make sure you don't run out of the key ingredients. The snacks were good and decently plentiful, but they weren't worth the ticket price (sushi that was not on ice, cheese, meat, fruit, crackers, deviled eggs, cookies) Would I come back? I'd like to give it another try only because Cookeville needs a place like this. If this was in another city, I wouldn't be back.

For starters, the location is down an alley way, hidden off the main area of the Square in the Boro. To get to the speakeasy, you have to find the door, use the phone, and answer a riddle to speak the 'password' to get in. Neat concept and adds to the fun of the overall experience. The cons: - A cover charge - and a healthy one, at that. - Every cocktail, small plate/appetizer, dish, dessert, etc. is on the very high end of price points, and that's even for a Nashville spot - not even considering this as a niche location in the burbs. - For the prices, exceptionally small portions/servings of the food options. We left paying over $150 for our evening and both my wife and I were still hungry... The pros: - Service was fantastic. Extremely friendly from the owner to the bartenders to the servers. No complaints there at all. - My wife took me for my 40th birthday, and they helped significantly make it a special celebration while we were there. A special dessert with "4-0" candles, a rousing musician-led, crowd-involved rendition of "happy birthday" was sung in my honor, and overall just a very enjoyable experience. - Atmosphere was fun and inviting without being too much/stuffy. - The interior of the speakeasy is opulent, small, and cozy, featuring enough room for probably no more than 20-25 people total. - The drinks were very, very good. Overpriced, sure - but at least they were well made and tasty. - The food was absolutely fantastic. Great flavors and seemingly fresh, quality ingredients - well prepared. Overall, a very neat, fun, well thought out experience and something to say we've done - BUT unfortunately with the cover charge, pricing of the individual drinks, food items, etc., it prices us out of frequent enjoyment. We would go with a small group for kicks, but will likely not return otherwise, which is a shame.
