A new location next to Mellow Mushroom. Tasty food. Nice speakeasy atmosphere. Good handcrafted drinks. Server was very kind and provided great service.

It has a fun speakeasy vibe- it's small, not too much kitsch, with good service and excellent cocktails.

We absolutely love this place. We have been here a couple of times. The ambiance is perfect! Cocktails are exquisite. During our last visit, Maddie helped us out & provided us with great recommendations. She kept those drinks coming. We were never thirsty!

There's obviously no shortage of places to drink in Downtown Franklin anymore, but I can confidently say Amendment 18 is my favorite. It's the most reliable. Whenever guests come to visit, I take them here and can count on it delivering a good experience, which it has every time. It's the place with the best value to me as well. I've literally tried every single drink on the menu. I know that sounds crazy and irresponsible, but I've went a few different times and everyone I've went with coordinates so we don't overlap and by that practice I tried every drink on the menu over time. Every drink is amazing. They're well sized. You can feel that every drink is thoughtful and well crafted. There is one orange coffee one that is legendary. I hate tequila generally. I'm a whiskey drinker. But I had the tequila drinks here and I could actually tolerate them. If you know how I feel about tequila, that's nothing short of a miracle. I just shows how crafted the cocktails at this place are. Out of curiosity I've gone to the other cocktail spots in Downtown Franklin a few times, but when I have to choose a spot I actually want to go to, it'll be Amendment, hands down with no competition.

Cool decor, fun drinks, great service but SO loud. We want to go back when there is live music.

Girls night out & we spent a hefty amount but have absolutely no regrets!!! What a fun find for Franklin, it feels on level with any cool bar in East Nash! There is a bit of a fun challenge getting checked in (mostly just crowded hallway to then scan a QR code and if you lack cell service, borrow MM free wifi & make sure your location services is on). Once you're in, you're golden! The menu is extensive and creative, all the classics and more but elevated in complexity and flavor. They also have a holiday drink - Egg Nog Bourbon (not on the menu) worth trying right now. We loved the old fashioned flight!!

Staff are welcoming and attentive! Finding the place was very fun. The place has a properly suave and sexy vibe- cool decor, mood lighting, and beautiful furniture. But even though they're pretty, the cocktails were all unusually bitter and not appetizing :/ for how expensive they are, you'd hope they would be a bit more palatable.

Love a good quality speakeasy with a secret entrance. This one is in a prime location in downtown Franklin. Right away our waitress explained that everything is made in-house which definitely piqued my interest. The drinks we got were absolutely fantastic but the food left a little to be desired. Regardless, we will be back again to try more drinks soon.

I wanted to like this place since I had heard so much about it. I was expecting more than what was delivered, which is my fault for having expectations. We showed up and got in line like everyone else. There was a small waitlist, so we added our name to it. We waited around 20 minutes to be admitted. If you're still weary of COVID-19 or being in small, confined spaces, this might not be a place you want to visit. You're squeezed into a small hallway when you first arrive, and people utilize every inch of room available when waiting in said hallway. Once you're in the bar, you sit next to other people communally if you are at the high top. That does not bother me, but it could bother some who want to keep their space private from other patrons, not at their party. The drinks were left to be desired. I appreciate their own twist on the drinks, but they were not anything spectacular. They were standard tasting and had nothing unique to add to a $13 per drink. We did not opt for another one after the initial one since I think the first ones did enough talking for us to decide it was not for us. Service was grand! She was super sweet and attentive. She was one of those people who genuinely enjoyed working there, and she had a really sweet aura. No complaints about service or ambiance. The ambiance was excellent as well. You're just packed in there, and they definitely make sure to embrace every inch of the real estate they have in the joint.

I loved the speakeasy concept. If you do not want to wait making a reservation online is critical. The vibe is very intimate. Small space that does not seat many people. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very attentive and answered every question my wife and I had. I had the Volstead which was their twist on an Old-fashioned. I will say that I was underwhelmed with the dream. I didn't feel that for the price I got a healthy pour. My wife got the Peruvian Punch because she loves Pisco. She was underwhelmed with her drink too. I will say the Ambiance is a 5; Service was a 5; Drinks were a 1 in my opinion. Great concept just overpriced for what you get.

    Velvet brew espresso martini

Inventive drink selections with a fun ambiance and speakeasy entry. Just don't flip the wrong switch and turn the lights off for the whole building!

The Volstead was crazy good, it's their version of an Old Fashion! The Ice they use is crystal clear!

Down a back alleyway in Franklin, you find the door but wait.... you need the Power to get in. If you dare flip the switch! You will enter a great speakeasy bar with a great vibe! The service was spot on, the owner greeted us and explained some of the drinks. We didn't order any food but I looked around and saw some amazing food! One suggestion would be to turn down the music a bit. I heard a couple others make comments about it. Bottom line, cool vide, awesome drinks and something Franklin needed! Good Job Dean!!!

The Pond doesn't disappoint. It is exactly what one would expect when seeking a dive bar atmosphere. A little ratty, a little rowdy and a whole lot of fun. The coup de grace was they had Guinness on tap, which was completely unexpected. We traveled to Franklin looking for an alternative to Broadway in Nashville on our first night in town. It is worth the trip. Franklin is a very old town with great old architecture and buildings over 200 years old that still look stunning. The Pond was the real reason for my drive down although it was our last stop on our tour of Franklin. The staff was friendly, the Hamburger and fries was delicious, and the beer was cold. They have many options to choose from on tap. They have Darts inside and a couch you'd find down in your friends basement that he found on a tree bank trash day, but that simply adds to the dive bar charm. We stayed for one drink and the burger as we were exhausted from a red eye flight the night before. If you're looking for a dive bar that stays open late and apparently gets packed as the night goes on, this is the spot for you. Most places close early in Franklin, so this is apparently the after hours spot that everyone ends up going to when all other options are closed. The Pond reminded me of a few dive bar spots in Vegas, and I have to recommend you pay them a visit, if for no other reason, just to say you've been there.

We grabbed one of the small outdoor tables on a warm spring afternoon--perfectly shaded, great temperature, and honestly an ideal people-watching spot. I started with the Black Tie espresso martini. I had my eye on the Sunburnt, but since their espresso martinis typically include dairy (and I'm lactose intolerant), the bartender went above and beyond to accommodate me. They made a dairy-free version of the Black Tie and even added coconut--it was absolutely delicious. Jonathan went with the Summer Mule, which was everything you want in a mule with a tropical twist from the pineapple--light, crisp, and refreshing. But the second round is what completely sold us. Jonathan ordered the Double Oaked Old Fashioned--we were warned it was high proof and spirit-forward, which is exactly our style. It did not disappoint. I went with the Tea Time Old Fashioned, made with tea-infused whiskey, and it was everything I hoped for: reminiscent of a sweet tea bourbon, but more bourbon-forward and not overly sweet. Both drinks were dangerously good--we finished them way too quickly. They were unfortunately out of cheese for the charcuterie board, so we pivoted to the "Main Stream Mix" of nuts. Jonathan's official review: "underrated." Honestly, he's right--it was super flavorful and weirdly addictive for a nut mix. The staff were incredibly friendly, and there was even live music playing inside. It was the perfect volume--more of a background vibe than a full performance--so we could easily carry on a conversation without having to shout over it, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a great experience--we wouldn't hesitate to come back!

I'm guessing that's due in part to Maverick, the General Manager, who seems genuinely committed to excellence. We actually came back this week because we realized we'd enjoyed our meal so much during our last visit that we forgot to take photos for our review. Believe it or not, we nearly forgot again! I rarely eat bread, but I always make an exception for the Spent Grain Loaf. Paired with the unbelievably fresh butter and flaky sea salt, it's one of my favorite things on the menu. My husband ordered the Prawn Cocktail. I'm allergic to shrimp, so I couldn't try it myself, but he said it was outstanding. I usually order the Koji Ribeye, but this time my husband claimed it first, so I ventured out and ordered the Alaskan Halibut with hash brown crust, orange vinaigrette, and watercress. It was absolutely delicious. My favorite side remains the Roasted Carrots with Leiper's Fork honey and tarragon--they're incredible. We finished with the Carrot Cake. It's less sweet than the version served at another well-known Franklin restaurant, which I actually prefer. The flavors are more nuanced, and the crunchy shredded carrot on top adds the perfect texture. The food was, as always, exceptional. We were fortunate to have Jeff Paul as our server again. He's knowledgeable, attentive, and strikes that perfect balance of being available without ever being intrusive. That said, we've honestly never had anything but excellent service at 1799. Maverick stopped by our table and was warm, engaging, and genuinely interested in making sure every guest had a memorable experience. It's clear he takes great pride in the restaurant, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. 1799 continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in Franklin, and we can't wait for our next visit. -Wendy & Ben Ellis

The place is beautiful, but we were seated in the least interesting area. My friend said it used to be an open patio and was renovated for more indoor seating, which makes sense, but it lacked any real atmosphere. When I am spending this kind of money I want a slow, leisurly pace, and this felt rushed. Yes, we probably could have asked the waiter to slow things down, but we didn't. I ordered a specialty cocktail - the Midnight Sun that was delish - it was layered and around $16. The waiter then brought out what ended up being the highlight of the meal, a little treat from the chef. It was a creamy gnocchi dish to share, about three pieces each, super rich and honestly I could have eaten 20 more. We also spilt the bread flight. The bread was good but I wasn't a fan of the spreads, I'm a BUTTER person, these were more like bean spreads. The brussels sprouts with pork were also really good. Hubby and I split a mixed green salad that was pretty mediocre, and the croutons were almost too hard to chew. Then came the pork, which was a dissapointment. It was so tough it actually got caught in my throat a couple times despite chewing it well. We didn't even finish it. For the price, it should have been tender and full of flavor, and it was neither. My friend ordered the duck pasta and said it had "weird pieces of meat" in it. Her husband got the filet and loved it, so at least someone at the table was happy. We skipped dessert after most of us had disappointing entrees. I guess the good news is they rotate the menu every few months, so maybe it would be a totally different experience next time.
