Scott at Lock Doc is the person to call for lock-and-key issues. My 2001 Toyota Tacoma's door locks and ignition were sticking and sometimes failing to work properly. Scott was great at coordinating a place and time to address my situation, since he is mobile. He provided a fair quote, was professional and knowledgeable, and explained possible solutions. I had lost my master keys to my Camry and only had a "valet" key that would basically drive the car but nothing else. After calling chuck patterson to get a quote they recommended these guys. If you have an older model car (like pre-1980) - he is FOR SURE your guy Let's be honest, when other locksmith's in town tell you to call HIM, you know he's the guy for the weird and random jobs that nobody else either wants or can do. I was referred to the Lock DOC by Chuck Patterson auto dealer. On the card I was given, the owner has chosen to advertise his religious/Christian affiliation. I avoid such businesses if possible. I am not anti-religious. Such advertisements assume the religious affiliation indicates honesty and fairness in practices. Sociology research says otherwise. This business has a very good rating and his price quote was fair. If that one claim had not been on their business card, I probably would have given them the job. read more

Ralph you are my hero! Ralph was referred to me by the great bunch at Pep Boys for a Key FOB problem. My car had gone into security kill and my car wouldn't start. We called the the dealership in town on two different times where the Secretary delivered the service writer a hand written msg twice and never received a call back. In from Sacramento and though everyone in Magalia and Paradise have been wonderful, I was stranded. And heartbroken cause I missed an important event of my grandbaby. So I called Pep boys and asked if they could do it and they referred me to the Lock Doc. Ralph answered the phone and made an appointment.8am Mon morn there was my hero and in 30 min I had the car key reprogrammed a spare made and 5 other existing key codes wiped from my computer and Ta Da ! Ralph was Awesome! I had been trying for 3 days to get help when I lost my key and was locked out of my car at work at the end of the work day on a Friday. Blech! One guy wanted $500 on Saturday (Not!). Monday morning I thought to try the Lock Doc and Ralph answered the phone. Immediately my heart felt at ease and I knew I was safe again. Good price BUT rude and unprofessional. Came unprepared TWICE. So i had to wait over a week to finally get them to do my key. And they still charged me the over night shipping fee on my key when they fucked up and took a week to do it so me having it over nighted was useless. Wont recommend or use them again. read more

never before have i been treated so disgusting then when i phoned this man to possibly help with getting a key made. i lost my key/fob somewhere between my car and work. i phoned and he asked where i was located? i replied "oroville". he then said that this was out of his way and he would charge me over 440$. he was rude, and spoke as if i was wasting his time. do not go to this person. he is rude and unprofessional. that description is mild. read more

I lost my keys at the rest area on I-5 on a Friday evening. I called and they were very helpful and responsive. I continued searching for my keys and found them in the mass of leaves in the pet area. I highly recommended! I had a problem with the lock mechanism on my Toyota. He made me a key that worked briefly. Then key got to the point where it would probably not work anymore. He was able to remove the entire lock mechanism from the car rekey the lock and install it back into the car. He only charged me 50$ which was only a third of what it would normally cost! Ralph is a trooper. First of all he gave me the best price for a job of programming a key and key-less card which I had bought on line. They key was a bad blank and he did everything he could to make it work. I then ordered a blank from the local dealer and he came back and cut and programmed that one in 2 minutes.
