My wife and I were taking a mid-week trip shortly after Labor Day and had the entire house to ourselves for 2 nights between 2 busy weekends. So... we got to "explore". Very well put together rustic-like large house with about 7 different rooms to stay in, a breakfast/dinner area, a couple of sitting areas with fireplaces, an outside patio and a grassy area with trees making it feel private, and a private bathroom connected to every room! There were interesting ambiance things like stone fireplaces, walls with antlers and a bearskin in the common areas like a true hunting lodge. And... conveniently located right off I-55. All the rooms are clean and feature some sort of different theme. We stayed in the Mississippi room with a balcony overlooking the back. The rooms on the top floor are the fanciest. We Stayed one night. Beautiful log cabin close to everything. My plan was to just hang out and relax in the common areas till our dinner reservation but there was an event in the great room and outside so we opted to leave and go elsewhere. I was a little disappointed because I had planned to just enjoy the outdoor area and maybe play a game or cards for the afternoon. I had not expected to need to leave the lodge for something to do. The room was clean but things are starting to show their age. Maybe a bit outdated. Especially for anyone under 40 ish. We weren't excited about breakfast. It was not amazing but adequate. The omelet, bacon and potatoes just were not great. Everyone at our table just picked at it. Fresh fruit and juice was nice. I do have to admit when the coffee was poured I wasn't sure if it was tea or coffee. It was very weak. We ended up heading to get coffee as soon as we checked out. Staff was friendly and even called us to check in early. I could see booking this place for a small to medium event but I don't think I would stay overnight again, especially if the event being hosted is not one I'm attending. That makes it a bit awkward because there was no where to go except our small room. There was only space for 1 chair which was holding our luggage. There was one rusty lawn chair on our balcony but it overlooked the dinner party happening below which felt awkward to be staring at. The bed was pretty comfortable but it was very noisy when moving around. The air conditioning is also loud when it kicks on. We didn't really sleep well. I think it might be time for some updates to the decor and breakfast to keep this place booked up. read more

The room was quaint and clean. The decorations in the room were tasteful and appropriate. We stayed in the Mississippi room. It was very quiet and peaceful. There's a Great Rivers Greenway trail right behind the lodge and Vicki is really what makes the experience. She is so kind and thoughtful and pleasant. The breakfast was good and plentiful. They make the bacon crispy, just like my husband likes it. It's an easy drive to and from the city without having to stay in the city. Go out for coffee if you are a coffee connoisseur, but everything else was great! read more

We attended a party at the Lodge on Saturday, 9/14/24. Thursday, before the event, I called the number on the website. I was checking to make sure it was wheelchair accessible and that the restrooms were on the same level as the event. I was checking for my sister who is in a wheelchair. I was assured it was. The evening of the event the hostess, MAB, texted to tell me that my niece could drop my sister off on the right drive in the back of the Lodge. She would then need to move her car. I called my niece and gave her the instructions. She asked us to meet her back there and help with my sister. We went back there and shortly the caterers' truck pulled in. Then my niece and sister pulled in. We went to help with my sister and the woman in the catering truck yelled out that she couldn't park there. I responded that we were getting my wheelchair bound sister out of the car. She said my niece would need to move her car. That it was employee parking. I informed her I already knew that. At some point she identified herself as the manager. We got my sister in and the car moved. Then, my son in law arrived with my 2 grandsons, ages 2 and 4. He called and asked me to meet him out front and get the boys and he would need to park in the Olando lot next door. I ran out to meet him. Then the shuttle bus pulled up and yelled out at us that he could not park there. It was for her. We told her he was dropping of the boys and moving his car. I did not see anyone in the bus. Later my sister needed to use the restroom. We had to squeeze through the tables and opened the restroom door and saw there was no handicapped stall. My niece and I pulled her wheelchair in. Had my sister hold on to the wall and then pulled the wheelchair out and close the stall door. At about 9PM my sister, grandsons and others were ready to go home. My husband and son in law got my sister to the side of the Lodge and my niece went to get the car. When everyone got over there, they were again yelled at that she could not park there. read more

Went there for a family members party who turned 60. My aunt has terminal cancer and is in a wheel chair. We asked if we can use the loading dock to get her in her car they told us yes. Then as we are trying to load her in her car a manager yelled at us being very rude saying you can't do that here she needs to take the elevator. We told her that we were told we can and she said no we can not I kindly told her we are almost done she got nasty again. Very rude manager read more

This is a B&B that really knows how to do it right! It's absolutely beautiful. Each room has it's own theme. Their chef comes in each morning and makes the most luscious breakfast! They go out of their way to make you feel at home. The decor is tastefully lodge themed without going overboard. The beds are super comfortable. The staff is so friendly and helpful and will do anything within reason to make your stay perfect. There a some rooms that have balcony access, and some even have jacuzzi tubs! It located further from downtown which makes you feel like you truly are getting away from it all. However, it's also close enough to go do whatever sightseeing you'd like in town or out! If/when we ever go back to St. Louis were staying there again. read more

We stayed one night at The Lodge to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the entire lodge to ourselves. We chose the Alaska themed room. The room as well as the entire lodge was very clean. We enjoyed the chef made delish breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, and fresh fruit. We were able to enjoy a walk on the nearby trail. The trail would be great to bike on as well. read more

The Lodge at Grant's Trail was truly an awesome experience. A friend and I were looking for a cool place to stay for our trip to St. Louis. She just happened to find this awesome place while we were looking for hotels in the downtown area. The great thing was that it's about the same price or cheaper as the hotels and was a much cooler experience. We were very skeptical at first about staying in a B&B as neither of us had been to one. We were coming from 8hrs away and knew we would get there without any staff being there so that concerned us. We decided to call and get information before booking reservations. The man we spoke to on the phone was incredibly friendly and reassured us that everything would be fine and our keys would be securely waiting for us when we arrived. We loved the idea of the themed rooms and really wanted the Alaska room, but someone had booked it right in the middle of our 3 day stay for one night so we decided to do 2 nights in the Christmas room and 1 night in the Alaska room. Prior to arriving on the day of, we were contacted by the staff to go through all the check-in procedures, determine what time we wanted breakfast, and to verify we were happy with our rooms selections. We confirmed and they sent over an email with the code to the front door and how to pick up our keys. We were all set and super excited to arrive. We got there just before 8pm and our code got us in the door and then our keys were available for us. We went straight to our room and everything was exactly how we expected it. We had a note waiting for us on the bed describing some of the amenities such as drinks downstairs, ice in the kitchen, WiFi, etc. We were very pleasantly surprised by how cozy and awesome the Christmas room is. We were warned it might be too Christmasy, but we didn't feel that way at all. It was very nice with TV, a nice bed, a Christmas town that lit up above the fireplace and an AC that worked very well. The bathroom was HUGE which was nice also. The next morning we woke up and went down to breakfast. Clark was who took care of us over the duration of our stay and he was AMAZING! He brought us an awesome warm breakfast of waffles, bacon, and sausage with fresh squeezed OJ. There was also toast, bagels, pastries, muffins, and cereal available each day. As well as coffee, water, and teas. The next morning we had a quiche that was absolutely incredible! Then, the final morning we had breakfast strata. We were pleasantly surprised with all of our breakfast items. Clark provides great service and truly makes sure you have everything you need. We only shared a table once at breakfast and it was with 2 very friendly people. The atmosphere here is truly wonderful. There's a nice area downstairs with the kitchen to sit, there's a game room area which we took advantage of, then there's a big outdoor space with picnic tables and some trails with a green grassy area. We saw dear and a beaver once we made it to the Alaska room since it has a balcony. We enjoyed this room, but the Christmas room was still our favorite. Clark let us walk around and see all the other rooms that weren't occupied while we were there and we believe that Christmas is the best. The bed in the Christmas room was a lot more comfortable than the Alaska room although the Alaska bed is bigger, it squeaks A LOT. The details in the Alaska room were very unique which made it cool, but it had some decorations we weren't a fan of. The Christmas room felt like you were sleeping in a room in someone's house with a big homey feel. The Alaska room made you feel like you were somewhere strange and a lot more noise was heard from this room than the other. The bathroom in the Alaska room was small, but it wasn't a problem for us. One thing we noticed was how clean everything at the lodge was. I'm not sure I've ever seen showers and bathrooms as clean as they were, they were immaculate! Clark does a wonderful job and made our stay that much better! We loved talking to him and learning more about the history of the lodge. We were there during the week so luckily there weren't any events going on, but we did see a few people coming in to plan their events and do walk throughs of the property. If you are looking for a unique place to stay less than 15mins from downtown this is it! We were able to go to the zoo, brewery, cardinals game, the arch, and all the famous food places with no trouble from here. I highly recommend giving them a try! read more

I don't even know where to start. Kinda cool, kinda nice, but kinda weird. The atmosphere is pretty welcoming in a hunter meets housewife kinda way. Huge antlers hanging on the walls with an open fireplace filling the room. Then as you look closer, checkerboards and knitted quilts are in the main "lobby". Though its suppose to be a Bed and Breakfast, I just don't think I could stay in a place in themed rooms, especially when the themes include the "Christmas Room" and the "Alaska Room". Honestly all I could think about was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas; Give me the Ether! I actually came for a funeral service, but the hospitality was very good. It accommodated a lot of people comfortably, and I believe everyone was pleased with the overall service. The Full bar in the lobby really helped too. read more

We attended a wedding here this weekend and as part of the wedding party we got to stay here for two nights, along with the bride and groom, and the rest of the wedding party. Everyone loved it! We got lucky, since I was the best man we got put in the Mary Lincoln suite, which was the nicest of the guest rooms. It was not as big as the Washington room which the bride and groom got, but both were spacious with large comfy beds, seating, balcony access overlooking the gorgeous back yard, fireplaces, and best of all the large jacuzzi tubs in each room, big enough for two. Everything was set up perfectly, plenty of towels, bubble bath for the tub, cookies left on each bed. The small guest rooms were all nice as well, with different themes, and really only lacked the space and jacuzzis of the larger suites. It was so relaxing and well-kept. On top of that, they provided us with delicious breakfast both days in the Great Room. We all felt right at home, and no one wanted to leave at the end. I don't think I can express how charming this lodge is, it was a beautiful setting for the wedding, and a great place to get away. On top of that, the staff were all extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I was blown away by the level of service we received. Two people really stood out during our stay: Mary helped us on our first night and during the events, she was very friendly and funny; Melina (Maleena?) was awesome too, she served us breakfast both days and was the one to stay overnight with us. They were both amazingly welcoming, it really is impossible to convey just how much they made our trip as wonderful as it was. I can't recommend this place enough, it was a wonderful weekend, one of the best we've had in a long time. If you're thinking of doing an event, definitely come here. I went to a wedding here, so I can't really comment on the food or anything. The decor is a faux-hunting lodge kind of thing, which is kind of funny given that it's RIGHT NEXT TO THE INTERSTATE. Lots of dead animal heads on the walls, and a giant chandelier made out of antlers. Didn't really get to check out the themed bedrooms, but I'm sure they're lovely. The entire thing was nice, if a bit cramped - we wound up having to stand on the second floor and watch the wedding from a balcony. If you want to get married in a nice scenic non-denominational kind of place, you could do a lot worse. read more

No one was there when we arrived about 7PM and they had failed to give us the door code they'd promised. Once we got in the room was extremely small and all the surfaces were covered with knickknacks so one of our bags had to go on the floor along with the other clutter in the room. The a/c blew cold air on the bed and the register couldnt be closed,so we had to cut the a/c off altogether which made for a hot night. There was a high pitched noise going throughout our stay which would have made it impossible for us to sleep had we not brought ear plugs. Overall the room was extremely cramped with not enough room for two people to move around freely. Avoid this place. read more

Would be 5 stars but it is close to highway- roadway noise, but I'm sure if you picked a room on the east side it wouldn't be so bad. But O-la-la, you wont be disappointed. The location is very rustic and has a great cabin-feel. There was only 1 other couple staying on the property, so it was very quiet. We stayed in the Mississippi room- it was extremely small with not a lot of room to get ready in the morning. They had a coffee pot and a hair dryer. We were unable to take advantage of the outdoor fireplace and tiki torches because there were no directions. When I reached out to the emergency number (even though it wasn't necessarily an emergency), I did not receive a response. read more

We got married here last year, and it was amazing! This place is not for you if you want that modern, sleek wedding venue--go somewhere else, please! This place is quirky and full of details, and that's why my husband and I loved it. It is on the smaller side--we had 75 at our wedding and reception, but I got to actually talk to everyone. The photo opportunities really abound here. We also reserved the rooms to stay. We stayed in the Washington suite, which has a nice jacuzzi tub and is super pretty. We had friends and family in the other rooms. We got to enjoy a delicious breakfast the next day with our friends and family, and that made the experience all the sweeter. We stayed two nights at The Lodge in the Mississippi Room. During the week, you are pretty much the only ones there. Weekends are usually booked up for weddings. An employee comes in to cook you a big breakfast - waffles, scramble eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, cereal, muffins, bagels .. Most any breakfast item you may want. The food was wonderful. When we first arrived, there was cheese & crackers and wine waiting in our room, along with home made cookies. The beds were very comfortable. WiFI was available along with cable TV. Everyone was very friendly. I would highly recommend The Lodge. read more

This bed and breakfast is very unique, we stayed just for one night during our trip to STL and it was perfect. We stayed in Alaska which was fun because the decor and even had a balcony and fireplace! Everything was extremely clean, friendly staff, but the rooms were small. My boyfriend and I are not big people so this wasn't an issue for us but I could see it being a problem for others. This place is conveniently located as well by the interstate so we were able to make plenty of stops. Very kind staff and a gentleman even made us a delightful breakfast in the morning! We stayed at the Lodge at Grant's Trail during a recent return visit from the western US. When we looked the location up online, discovering they specialized in themed rooms, and having a CHRISTMAS Room, we agreed to BOOK IT! SO glad we did! First of all Matthew the inn keeper on staff was just delightful to talk with. Full of information about the location and genuinely excited to have us as guests. Since the lodge was not full, we had an opportunity to peek into other rooms too! WOW. Each room having a different inviting theme that just beckoned for a return visit to try them out. We LOVED our stay in the Christmas room. Entirely decorated in detailed touches of old and new Christmas items. The only downside of this room is that it was on the small size, offering little space on the vanity and no closet. Otherwise it was wonderful to stay here, leaving the little lighted village on all night, lighting the fireplace (briefly...it was hot out) and turning the AC up so you get the feel of sleeping in winter under a thick Christmas Comforter. We were told the mattress was recently replaced and it did not disappoint. Very comfortable sleep. The breakfast was also very nice. Perfectly prepared Eggs, Bacon, fresh fruit and pastries. I mustn't forget the basket of crackers, cheese, wine and cookies left before bedtime for a late night snack. All the perfect little details to make our stay wonderful. Looking forward to planning a visit to this lodge again! read more

What a great place. The only complaint would be that the rooms are small. There are a few rooms with balcony access. I would recommend that. The breakfast is Continental on the weekdays but he did give us waffles and scrambled eggs. The location is perfect. Very easy drive to all st louis area attractions. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in Oct. The staff and food was great! All our guest commented on how great tasting the food was and loved the open bar. We were married at the Lodge at Grant's Trail 15 years ago. We look forward to returning each year for our anniversary. The Lodge and the staff always provided a friendly, hospitable, comfortable atmosphere to spend the weekend. At our 15th anniversary visit, we learned the Lodge had undergone management changes. Our experience was not positive on this past visit. I'm happy to say, a few months after our stay, we were contacted by the Lodge. They informed us the management changes had been resolved and they offered us a free stay as an apology for our unpleasant experience. This is the type of customer service we were used to! We are looking forward to our next stay and subsequent visits year after year. read more

My husband took me to the Lodge at Grants Trail last night. We stayed in the Mary Lincoln presidential suite. It is a beautiful room with an amazing jacuzzi tub. We were treated like royalty by the GM Matthew Wood. He made our time extra enjoyable by recommending local restaurants and activities designed to our exact taste and interests. Clark was also very helpful in providing excellent care in all areas. We were served the most mouth watering chocolate chip cookies in our room for a midnight snack. The decor of the Lodge makes you feel so warm and cozy. We will definitely be calling Matthew back to help us design a getaway for the entire family next time. Recently celebrated my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary here. I have to say it could not have been better. We had about 80 guests, and there was plenty of room for all. The lodge setting, while maybe a bit more themed than your own home, had a cozy, comfortable feel to it while still being impressive. The food we had on our buffet was delicious, and the staff was very professional, yet accommodating and friendly. We were all very happy with the event, including my picky European grandmother. When my husband and I wanted to gift a honeymoon room to my step-daughter and her new husband, our first thought was Grant's Trail since my husband and I got married there 10 years ago and it was fantastic. When I had a conversation with Matthew the GM, he took it upon himself to make this an even more special occasion. He suggested moving them to the Mary Lincoln room since there is a conference room/bedroom (Abe Lincoln Room - has a Murphy bed that folds up into the wall) off of that room where we could have a small party after the private wedding ceremony. Even though on the day of the wedding there was another event in the lodge, you would have thought ours was the only one! Matthew took care of everything - even sneaking a basket up for the newlyweds while we were all enjoying pizza in the adjoining room. Matthew also took care of the setup (drinks, cups, etc) and cleanup of the room after the family left giving the newlyweds some privacy. The Lodge and the Rooms are exactly as pictured wonderful and warm. The kids loved it and it made planning this event worry free. In this day of minimal customer service it is nice to know that the old values exist and are on display daily. read more

Grant's Trail Lodge hosted my daughter/son-in-law's wedding/reception. It was absolutely perfect! The wedding was performed outside in the patio/garden area and the reception was inside as well as outside. Everyone had a good time!! Mary our event manager was absolutely the best. While we were all nervous about how everything would go Mary put us at ease right away. In addition to the great service Mary provided Denise our bartender was also fantastic and the food service manager and servers provided excellent service to our guests. They were all very courteous...we couldn't have asked for better service from them. So thank you Denise Stevenor from Orlando's, Melissa, Mary and Denise and the food service staff for everything!! And to top it off we reserved all of the rooms at the lodge for the evening so we could just go to our rooms upstairs at the end of the evening and we enjoyed a very nice breakfast the next morning.
