Great location and feel for a vacation restaurant but food quality has suffered past few years. Could use an overhaul in dishes and quality.

We went to Caddy's to see Corey Medina and the Brothers play. It's a place we hadn't been before…read morebut we found it inviting and VERY well run. The bartender Gordon will fix you up a nice drink - and he'll be all kinds of patient as you ask him what all they have when it's your first visit... :D And Sam will cook you up some GOOD food - we had the chili cheese fries and they were outstanding. They make homemade fresh cut fries - LOVED THEM. Plus I hear she runs a lunch special every day that's a good deal. That night they were pitching Ojibwe Tacos - a taco on fry bread - but since I'm GF... The locals were friendly as I struck up a conversation with Karen at the bar while we were ordering drinks. She informed me that a friend of hers is GF and drinks Much Ultra. That's a new one for me. And the place is great for bands. They have a huge dance floor and great sound. Corey and the boys did a fine set - though it didn't start until 10 so us old folks had to leave before it was through. But here's the best part. While they were setting up, the house lights were on. Dan and I were working on some paperwork and chatting as we'd just come from a Grant Writing Workshop at the Leech Lake Tribal College next door. Well, Chris, the bar manager, came over to let us know they'd be turning down the lights for the show as they were getting close to show time. What a NICE TOUCH!! So thoughtful. She's fantastic. They have a variety of groups that perform here. Chris says the Highway 71 band is great and features a set with "Elvis" that is a real hoot. You should get out and give them a try. They re-opened late last year under new ownership and it looks like this is going to be a good run. Good drinks, good food, good entertainment. A fun time for all. Oh, this is a smoking bar. We sat up by the stage and I'm usually pretty sensitive to smoke and had no real issues. On a full house night, it might get overwhelming if you are real sensitive. BUT... It was nice to note that there is no smoking during the lunch hour! These guys are doing it right. Check them out. You can find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CaddysCassLake/

Inside the Palace (clearly ironic naming) Casino in Cass Lake. Dining Room is nice enough, if a…read morebit outdated, the help was very friendly, and the food was good, which is what takes this review from a 1 to a 2. Here were the issues: 1) it was FREEZING cold - I'm not one to get cold, and even I was chilly. One customer went to her vehicle and brought in blankets for her kids, others went out and retrieved jackets. We asked to have the AC turned off, and it finally was at the end of the meal....which was a looong time (see point 3 below) 2) Menu had 1 entree salad on it, and everything else was fish, hamburgers, or chicken. Most food was fried. There were dinner entrees, but they include salad bar. Salad bar consists of iceberg lettuce with red cabbage and carrot shreds, pink goo (I'm assuming this was some sort of industrial jello concoction), and some very sad looking veggies. All dishes almost empty - and it was 6:30PM when we got there, so should be prime dinner hour! Salad bar out, this left us with hamburgers, sandwiches, or fish, or that entree salad, which had field greens instead of that iceberg mix. Dad ordered the entree salad. Oh, but they're out of that salad because they had 2 events at the casino that day. Oh, but you could get the salad bar. So, Dad ordered the steak sandwich. 3) Food took about 45 minutes. There were 4 of us, and we ordered 2 hamburgers and 2 steak sandwiches. There were 3 other tables full and 2 other servers besides ours, so plenty of help and not a lot of customers. 45 minutes...really? On the plus side - the food, when it finally came, was good, and the waitress was friendly and kept our drinks filled. As a side note: You know you're in a classy place when there's a sign on the hostess stand that states all children and parents must wear shoes. Oy vey. And, we did see our share of folks who don't know how to behave in public - drunk, dirty, high, cutoffs and ripped up t-shirts. The clientele is a treat. Not the restaurant's fault, though. Fix the AC and get the food out faster. In the meantime, my recommendation is people should eat at the Perkins in Bemidji, MN.

During our wait, no Acknowledgement from the server, no a hi, be right with you, nothing. The patrons next to us brought it to the servers attention that we were waiting for service. The server finally brought us menus. The server looked at me and said, "if you want to be that way..." then walked away. It was not very busy. Poor customer service, poorly trained staff. I won't be back.

What we liked: - Seating: we were seated swiftly and were able to sit at a booth like we prefer - Server: A server came over to use quickly, took our drink order, returned with them promptly and took our dinner order - Food: It was great! See below Food - what we ordered and how we liked it: - We started with a bowl of Wild Rice Soup. Oh man, possibly the best I've ever had. And it was served piping hot. - Open Face Hot Beef Sandwich - really good. Served with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of green beans. The beans were still crunchy. I only at 3 of them. - Prime Rib Sandwich - also real tasty. Served with aus jus. We ordered the Waffle Fries as the side and they were very good. We really enjoyed the food at Pub 33 and we'll be back.
