I don't usually write reviews but I have to say we had the best experience at the lodge tonight. We just bought a house up the street and have been meaning to try it, but we have a 12 week old baby and haven't been out. The waitstaff was incredible EVERY SINGLE person stopped by our table to talk to us and that was truly refreshing. Heidi, Cecilia, Susan and Angie were all great. So friendly and personable. We feel welcomed back already. Migdalia and Nayef dropped our food off and we later found out they were the owners. I knew she was the owner the way she was talking! You can tell both had true passion for the place. The atmosphere was cool, moose head on the wall fireplace, Motown hits.... It was like we never left our house with the good music vibes. Bar was packed. Now the food!!!! Omg the pizza was incredible. I want more now. 10/10 and I'm like a self proclaimed pizza connoisseur. The sirloin special with garlic butter ---unreal melt in your mouth. My man really liked his salmon. Amazing you have return customers for years! Thanks! read more

Was so excited to try the newly renovated Resturant near Webster lake. I have to say the baked haddock was extremely delicious along with the tasty fingerling potatoes. My margarita pizza was authentic. Not too many places can make a margarita pizza to perfection, they did! Please try this place out today. Please be patient , like most places...need wait staff. Do you like traveling back in time to 'near the lake' 70's rustic-chic eateries? Then this is the place for you! The hubs and I stopped in for a bite one rainy weekend and let with a stomach ache (think it was the grease from the fries) and a buzz (the drinkin' is good at least!). The exterior: parking is tight (this place is oddly packed in the evenings) The interior: oof (that's all I have) The food: a pretty nice menu with reasonable-ish prices (~$8-12 for a sandwich with fries and a pickle, $18 for an 'entree') and an alright variety sticking mostly to an American-Italian theme; "Comfort Food" for sure. The service: our waitress had the *entire* dining area to tend to so it took a bit but she was SO nice. The final word: I'd use this as a towny drinking hole but not for much more than that. read more

You probably will not like my review. This was our first time here and only went because of recent reviews saying it was remodeled and improved. I will start by saying I ordered the haddock and hubbie ordered the special ziti and meat sauce. I also had a cup of the (so not ) chowder. Did not care for the chowder but ate it anywqy, more like a potato soup. After waoting a bit.. i was told they ran out of haddock. My guess is they cooked it and it must of of not smelled right because hubbys ziti came out so i and rder steak n cheese panini with fries. Hubby was just finishing up when mine came out. The panin was just ok. Was not impressed but the fries..... OMG. Inedible. I still have that horrid gease on my tongue and i inly ate 2. The pickle was good. Also need to mention that it was freezing in there and about 71 outside. I checked in on yelp and recieved a free dessert coupon... i opted out ... no thanks. read more

I have not been here in years because the food was not great and the decor was stuck n the 70s. I Went last night because I heard its been updated. It has been updated. Service was ok, sort of slow. The pizza was amazing- thin crispy crust, just enough spice and seasonings with that charred brick oven taste. My friends got steak tips and baked haddock. We went here for a late lunch, service was terrible. The shrimp appetizer took 30-minutes to get to the table, and the steak tips were an hour after ordering (no exageration). This would be understandable if it was busy, but we were the only people there! read more

Had a fantastic, delicious, flavorful and well-prepared New York Strip here a few times, once paired with an amazing French onion soup. My wife had baked haddock which was pretty darn good. Came back a couple months later, in the evening, to order it again and the steak came out burned. I mean, it was charred. Crunchy black carbon exterior. Like it was marinated in the ash of an old hibachi, teased with the flame from a flamethrower and finessed like the finest coal to land in a power plant. The fast food I had afterwards was delicious, but I don't think we will be back here. Oh, and the rolls were dried up like they were basking under heat lamps for several hours. They have fantastic rolls and cinnamon buns usually. Ask for them. read more

Had a really good dinner tonight...we were very impressed...my husband had prime rib, it was cooked perfectly medium rare, nice thick piece, great taste, I got bourbon tips...very yummy, very tender, perfect amount with real mashed potatoes and squash...we loved dinner, with 2 glasses of wine our bill was $50....get bargain, great service and great food...thank you can't wait to go back. read more

Have been going to The Lodge for years, since before the renovation. Always enjoyed the drinks, the food and the service. The filet mignon is a favorite of mine, always cooked perfectly! And Stacey and Teri were always friendly, quick, great bartenders who remembered us and chatted with us. With that said, I will not be back. Apparently Stacey was fired (why?!?!) and the bartenders that have been there the last two times seem to have no idea what their job is. Drinks take forever and we sat with empty drinks in front of us for more than half an hour, dirty dishes are never cleared away and just pile up in front of you. Should you get tired of waiting for a drink and flag a bartender down they are rude, roll their eyes, and will walk away from you while you're talking. Happened once, we tried again, happened again, we will eat elsewhere from now on. read more

The rating would be higher if our initial experience was better. We went here for Thanksgiving dinner. We made reservations the week before and had high hopes. Long story short. We arrived ten minutes before our reservation and waited over an hour to get a seat. No one was working the front and it was a free-for-all. Apparently the only way to get a seat was to complain a lot until they sat you. The saving grace was the food and our server. Turkey dinner was great. It also seemed like everything was homemade. Our server was also very accommodating and friendly. We plan to come back...ideally on a slower day. read more

I used to be a regular here a long time ago but have gotten away from it. Tried it last night, doubt we will be back any time soon. The bartender is a nice guy but if ever there was a call for a man bun, this is it. He is obsessed with running his hands threw his hair while making drinks. We wouldn't order a 2nd drink. My wife had the whiskey salmon, am betting it was frozen as it looked just like what I get in the frozen section of the market. I got baked haddock which was good. The vegetables just weren't good. I should have known the summer medley was out of season, came from a bag I can make at home. I understand they ran out of the "good" sides, the long rice but the mashed potatoes back up need help. We dropped into the Lodge after a 25+ year absence (we used to pass through Webster while the kids were at camp in NH). Total indoor remodeling- very nicely done! I'm a Reuben fan, and theirs was good, though I usually prefer marble rye than the pumpernickel used here. My son loved his Gouda burger too. The homemade fries could have been crispier but the service we got from "Princess" couldn't have been friendlier. Also, my wife and I enjoyed the "Tequila Mai Tai", one of their specialty cocktails. This is a beautiful restaurant, inside is so cozy and homey feeling. But that's where the home feel ends. The food is so bland and far from homemade. The first thing we ordered were garlic parm chicken wings, not breaded, and clams casino. The wings came plain, no seasoning whatsoever. Our very kind waitress apologized and took the blame by saying that she had written: garlic parm naked. She said that the chef probably thought naked meant 'no seasoning'. Whatever, we got a new order and they were perfectly crispy, just like we like them, but zero taste. Waitress said that was probably because the taste is in the breading. The clams were dried out little pieces of shoe leather, but nicely seasoned shoe leather. We then got our two side salads. Or should I say, torn lettuce with two tomato slices and two onion slices. Looked like they were made earlier in the day and refrigerated until they were ordered. I put my dressing on and dug my fork in deeply and pulled up my first bite. It came with a piece of plastic included. Yep, plastic wrap or something right there inside my salad. I was done. I thanked the waitress and told her I'd just sip my water while my husband enjoyed his dinner. His rare strip steak and mushrooms came, however the steak was medium at best! The mushrooms were canned. The steak had absolutely no flavor. No seasoning to bring out the beef flavor, nothing. When the waitress came back and saw the inside of the steak she immediately comped us our whole meal. She said that she eats only rare meat and that she would have sent that steak back the second she cut into it. I can honestly say that we will probably never go back and try this place again, although the waitress was very nice and did the best she could. Well, we did try this place again. Fruit flys in all of our beers. A chipped glass. 4 things on the menu not available. Drunken owner sitting at the bar the whole time we were there. When fire alarm went off, he couldn't figure out how to stop it, in his inebriated state. Oh, dollar oysters were a-okay! But we can get those somewhere else for sure. Ordered 1/2 lb. Gouda hamburger medium rare with onion rings. My little guy ordered penna with butter. Not the worst meal I have ever had but hamburger was over cooked, some of outside was burnt. The Lodge is close to my grandparents home in Woodstock, Ct, so I find myself dining at this rather rustic eatery a few times a year when I take them out. I will start by saying, I like the Lodge and would frequent it if it were closer to my home in Boston. The food is better than decent. They have great seafood offerings (although their house seafood stuffing uses the fake crab crap that I detest), good steak selection - cooked to the perfect temperature of your choice, portions are generous, prices are reasonable and a quirky thing that I really like - they serve gooey cinnamon buns in the bread basket (yum!). Service is fair - the poor waitstaff are beyond harried and have very little time to attend to your needs, as the huge dining room is packed with large parties and there are no bus staff or food runner (ahem - owners... if you had a food runner, I wouldn't have to wait 20 mins. after I get my steak to ask for steaksauce). I expect a lot, I know. Honestly, I really like the Lodge and look forward to my next visit. read more

This place is a nightmare. I went yesterday with my family. So, this was a Sunday evening at 7:30. There was only one other table in the restaurant. Red flag! The decor was horrible and haphazard (mountain lodge & flamingos?) There was a considerable amount of debris on the floor in the corner of the dining room. The man with the ponytail that seated us was arrogant. The waitress sauntered over and never introduced herself, read the specials, asked if we wanted more drinks, nor even asked if the food was alright. Seriously? We were there to celebrate my dad and brother's birthdays. My dad chose this place because he wanted to try the family-style chicken. The waitress never bothered to ask him if he would like any more. I would highly recommend that you take your hard-earned money elsewhere. I don't imagine this place will be around much longer anyhow. read more

This place has a nostalgic, unpretentious, rustic atmosphere. There are cozy booths with lake views and huge moose heads on the walls. The menu is like an upscale diner with sandwiches, shellfish, steaks and seafood. We were there for lunch, so I got a rueben sandwich and steamed broccoli, and my boyfriend got a burger and a Sam Adams. It's no dining destination but it totally hit the spot, and I'll be back if I'm driving by! Five stars for atmosphere and impeccably cooked classics. read more

Had heard that The Lodge had installed a wood-fired pizza oven so tried it a couple of weeks ago - had the Tuscan style which was fabulous. Was excited to go back last night - we sat at the bar and ordered the bbq chicken pizza and wood-fired meatball - both were also delicious. We also ordered the meatball/pesto pizza one night for take-out and enjoyed that as well. The service was very good both times, the wine was nice and cold and the pour was generous and the beer cold. What more could you ask for? The pizza was served quickly since it's a 900 degree oven. It's nice to have a place like this right up the street - highly recommend checking it out! read more

Old place but they are making upgrades. We sat at the bar and the bartender was a trip. She was super nice and had just the right amount of service without annoying over service. We had the pasta diavlo and chicken parm. HUGE portions and good prices. I would say go here when you're looking for something relaxed without big city expectation. Keno and popcorn at the bar? I'm down. haha.. The Lodge was definitely a pleasant surprise. Walking in.. there are Christmas lights, American flags, moose heads, and a bronze plate collection. The side window seats give you a bit of a view of Lake Webster (AKA Lake C-insert-really-long-name-here-go-look-it-up). The atmostphere was interesting to say the least. Definitely not what I'm used to living downtown. But the food.. on to the food. For an appetizer we had the stuffed mushrooms. They were cooked just right and made with the restaurant's own seafood stuffing. My lunch came with garlic bread (a very small portion) and a garden salad (not a fan of the chunks of onions they didn't separate.. but that's just me being picky). Also, there was a LOT of dressing on the salad. For an entree, I had the sea scallop pasta alfredo. It was creamy but not overwhelming. The portion was big so my arteries forced me to take half of it home. My friend had the steak teriyaki salad which surprisingly didn't come with its own dressing. She had it with Italian (on the side) and said it was pretty good. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was very attentive (never had to ask for a refill) and when we first came in pretty much everyone there said hello.. giving it that family owned feel (btw, it is). When we left, we got the same genuine reaction. I'll definitely go back if I'm in the area again. Went here again last night (New Years Eve) & we both had great meals, I had Baked Sea Scallops & my Wife had the Filet Mignon, both were absolutely delicious! Been here a few times and always had great service. Terry at the bar was always friendly and attentive. Food is "pub food" and is good. Nothing exotic, just plain good food. Good alcohol selection and very nice atmosphere. Convenient to Indian Ranch which we visit often so we will definitely be back. read more

I have mixed feelings about this review. First off I drove past the Lodge on a Tuesday and saw that they were advertising a prime rib Thursday..... you don't see that very often so I was excited to try it out. I made a reservation for 6:15 and mentioned that we were coming for the prime rib. We drove over a half hour to get there. We got there at 6:15 and were seated. 15 minutes later we were greeted by a server and her first words were" we only have one order of prime rib left so you better hurry up and order. Needless to say I wasn't happy since the three of us wanted the prime rib. We ordered and I asked the server if I could speak to the manager. She very rudely said "the manager is in Boston so what's the problem? At this point I gave up. The one piece of prime rib was cooked to perfection however the server didn't give me the time of day after we ordered. As a matter of fact our server never came back after giving us the bill. After waiting another 15 minutes we ended up scanning the bar codes on our phones and payed the bill that way. Overall... pretty disappointed. If you are going to advertise a special then you should have enough to get you past 6:15 on a Thursday night! read more

Came here at 9:00 on a Friday night (most restaurants in the area close at 9) we were not left with many choices so we ended up at The Lodge and were pleasantly surprised. I got the glazed sirloin tips they were excellent! The service couldn't of been better! I will be back! read more

Lacking in multiple sectors of what constitutes a quality eating establishment. I dined here this evening with my wife and mother in-law to a lackluster fare. Upon arrival it took approximately 11 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and another 8 minutes for three waters to be delivered. Another ten minutes passed before french onion soup croc arrived however two clam chowders went undelivered for another 7 minutes. The FO soup was tasty however the clam chowder was marginally warmed (they just started hearing a new batch apparently.) my wife's stuffed mushrooms had very little if not any seafood flavored stuffing...not sure what it was stuffed with but the color matched the baked haddock stuffing (which once again had no flavor). The broccoli served with the haddock was done so at room temperature and couldn't even melt small pats of butter placed atop the crowns. The shrimp scampi & cheesecake were pretty good, but not worth coming back for a return visit. I've heard that ownership/control is changing or was recently changed. Bummer. I heard high praise for this place however this evening's fare was anything deserving of such. Keep driving. read more

This place is totally charming and beaming with character. I love the exposed wooden beams and stone fireplace. In the afternoon, the sun shines through their stained glass windows causing a sort of magical, kaleidoscope effect. It's looks like a cabin but tastefully done and not tacky. What's more, the food is actually good. I had the scallop athena which just melted in my mouth. Who ever thought to pair sun-dried tomatoes, feta and butter together is a culinary genius. Their sides are also very well done. Well seasoned and cooked perfectly where there's still just enough bite to the veggies. I always sit at the bar for my "Stacy drink". She's a mixology mad scientist. I have a weakness for old fashions and she's made me the best one to date. As another reviewer wrote, she gave just enough service without that annoying over-service. I also recently had their thanksgiving turkey which was moist and delicious. It was still juicy the next day too, which is very hard to do with poultry. I have to also make a mention of their apple pie. It's probably the best damn apple pie I've ever had. I can't wait to go again and check out the rest of the menu. Ps: I hear the whiskey salmon is a must, but I'm sure that can be said for most of their dishes. Yummy!!! read more

We were a party of 13 with a reservation that usually comes here once a year. We are usually not complainers. First, our table configuration was off with square tables and round tables. We are friends so we wanted to talk to each other across the tables. This was not easily done as the music was loud but not offensive. I asked the server if the volume could be turned down. It wasn't and we continued to talk to each other loudly. I thought that I was in a disco and this is my main complaint. The servers were polite and cheerful. I realize that many places are short-staffed and I completely understand this. Our orders were taken and for some of us, our meals were placed in front of us in a reasonable amount of time. No one really complained about the price or quality of the meals. However, there were seven of us who had had to re-order their meals and received their meals a good 20-30 minutes after the first served had finished theirs. We spent a lot of time there and were not unhappy with that. I would re-consider going to another restaurant next year where you can quietly converse with friends. read more
