Went to their annual Thanksgiving buffet and was not disappointed. Besides the standard Thanksgiving fare, they also offer a wonderful beef dish, and seafood as well! You can go up as many times as you like. (or can) I made three trips: one for each entree. There are very few restaurants in the area that offer this convenience and is also the most reasonable. My hats off to them for doing this for people that are no longer able to prepare such a large meal, or just simply too busy. See you next year! And I won't forget the tip next time. read more

This restaurant and event space is in a very old home from way back when. It is very New England cozy and has a wonderful staff. We held my father's Celebration of Life dinner here following his service at Gilman in Putnam. The Debbies took great care of the arrangements and accommodated our party of just under 50 well. They had a buffet style setup and the food was very good. They had herbed chicken, stuffed shells and baked haddock for mains with sides like salad, green beans, and scalloped potatoes. The food and service were great and we would certainly recommend them to anyone. They can accommodate larger parties too in their main ballroom which is impressive. read more

What a hidden gem we found on New Year's Eve. We had heard grille 37 was amazing and we finally went there to eat. Place was packed at 530. Good thing we had reservations. The prime rib was awesome. Caesar salad was delish. Just get the small cause the plate was packed. The whole meal was very good. Service was beyond great. Save room for the dessert too. We have no complaints here. Grill 37 houses a very New England decor and atmosphere which is charming as well as relaxing, The menu is ample but not outstanding. Our party of twelve ordered oysters on the half shell, shrimp and other appetizers that were excellent. The dinners were not all up to par especially the seafood which was pricey, cold and overcooked, very disappointing. I understand serving 12 people can be challenging but quality control is badly needed as well as attention to serving a lesser quality and quantity than indicated on menu. While visiting a friend nearby, our group was invited to eat dinner at Grill 37. The ambience of this place at night is gorgeous and inviting. Sadly, our dishes ordered were not matched by the surroundings. We had the salmon entree with a wedge salad and an eggplant parmesan. Both were lackluster in taste and the salmon was overcooked. I tried this place as a recommendation from my boss at DKH. The restaurant itself is very pretty & its eye catching as you drive by it. The best thing about this place is the prices- they are EXTREMELY REASONABLE. Most places charge $35-$60 for a filet mignon steak- but this place you can get one for around $28-$30 so of course I ordered one and it was pretty good! The perfect amount of seasoning. So if you're a fan or filet or steak in general- definitely give this place a try. They have a pretty expansive menu! So depending on what you're in the mood for- they have a great variety! I also ordered a seasonal sangria with my meal- which was extremely strong- and had more of a strong Liquor taste than a relaxed wine taste- so depending on your preferences- you may want to order something else as it didn't remind me of sangria all that much. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was pretty nice. The building itself is large and accommodating (I think they also have banquets/events on the other side). I ordered a Fillet Mignon med rare, had a party of 7. My steak was cold. I got it back it was the same steak reheated.

Upon I was told I had to order my food from the bar on my own without a server. Upon completion of my ordering I was served with takeout plastic utensils and in paper containers. Really felt as a group of people unwelcome. We will happily take our hard earned money elsewhere. I had ordered the French onion soup it was served at the bar to me in a paper container without any cheese and a soggy bread lump in the middle of it and luke warm at best. I complained and they finally brought out a crock as the menu advertised but still to even consider treating paying customers like this is truly in poor taste. I wish I took pictures of what they served to our group. Everyone was treated in this manner. I guess our money isn't green enough for Grill 37. Many of my experiences there have been mediocre at best and for what they charge totally unacceptable. Sad as the place had so much potential and was amazing when Peter Cooper was running it. I try to support local businesses but truly will avoid this place at all costs from now on. If you are a group I would recommend not going to Grill 37. read more

On Valentine's Day with a reservation. I ordered a beet & fennel salad and received beet & spring mix salad. It took an hour and a half to be served our main meals. We were told by the waitress that our meals were being plated now. Then told again 15 minutes later. Then served when we were putting our coats on to leave. Don't lie to me. I was very disappointed with the food this restaurant served. The appetizers were way overpriced. The tortilla chips served with the artichoke dip were very dark due to the oil hadn't been changed in awhile. As well as the fried pork served with pasta. One person had the Alfredo that was ok. Another the gnocchi, Three had onion soup, small serving and the broth was watery. A Cesar salad was shared by two , and two shared a Wedge salad that was served with romaine lettuce not iceberg lettuce We ordered fried mozzarella , and olives also. 4 small pieces of bread tasted good , we ordered 2 servings for 7 people at $4.50 per serving. This is a beautiful venue out in the country side. It can be a little loud inside when it is busy but beautiful primary decor. I am giving the food a 3 out of 5. We have been here about 3x and the food is okay. I wish the desserts were better if you like sweets. The drinks are good. I just don't get that wow factor. This place was, to be honest, a disappointment. Whereas the interior is lovely , drinks are creative and the service is great, the food, sadly is not impressive. Food is the focus of a restaurant, we had four people in our party and no one enjoyed their food. Flavors are bland, I'm absolutely convinced that the string beans I had with my steak were straight out of a can. Nothing was very hot, and we were even disappointed with dessert. We have been here several times for dinner . All our waitresses have been great . We had Sarah several times and she is amazing. She managed a whole room on her own bringing dinners out together , checking all tables , and made sure our meals were what we ordered . We ordered the raw bar and crab cakes and it was great . It was so filling that we ordered burgers which were a good size . Fries were crispy and burger was just the way I wanted it med rare . All our meals have been great here . I have been coming to grill 37 for many years, even when it was The Harvest, and I almost always have a great experience, however, a recent experience was much different. It started off by not being able to find a parking spot. As I approached the building I realized there was a wedding going on, which explained the parking situation. I ordered the special which was short rib with risotto and string beans. When the server brought the plate to my table there were two tiny pieces of short rib. I asked her if perhaps the chef made a mistake. The portion was minuscule for a $32 price tag. She said she would ask the chef if there was anything he could do about it, and she never came back with an answer. She either didn't care, or forgot. Other than that she was great. The other MAJOR issue that I had was the thumping, extremely loud music from the wedding going on there. One would have thought that we were in a nightclub in New York City. I realize that they have functions there, but there should be some type of a restriction as to how loud the music can go. The manager should realize that there are other paying customers that do not want to be subjected to that excessively loud music. It was so loud that I asked the waitress to give me the bill so I could leave. I wouldn't expect that a restaurant would want their customers leaving in a hurry. So because of that dining experience, I think I'm going to cool off on Grill 37 for a little bit. Just not happy with the atmosphere or portions there. Many other high-end restaurants have a piano going with some nice quiet, relaxing music, not wedding music blaring. I go to nice restaurants to relax and unwind not to be subjected to loud music. I just thought you would like to know how a customer feels when they pay an almost $300 bill and have to be subjected to that sort of ambiance. read more

Sarah our waitress made the night! We had actually pre-ordered a king and queen cut prime rib at 10:34am for a 7:30pm reservation. Unfortunately the manager who lacked any empathy stated that the chef miscalculated the orders for the night so they no longer had our prime rib. No apology no comp! She basically hid behind her mask and could care less after we drove 1.5 hours to get to the restaurant expecting our prime rib. We had the misfortune of having our group's Christmas dinner at the Grill. A filet mignon that should melt in your mouth was tough, served with mash potato, skin left in, and green beans. That's it, nothing else on the table but salt and pepper and water. One's fish not cooked well enough, another with pesto pasta was brown and not green. It is understood how help is hard to find these days, but one waitress serving 20 people in one room and 15 in another is cruel to the waitress. Management knew the size of the two groups coming that night but not to get a second waitress is seriously lacking restaurant skills. You could see the waitress was doing her best. But not having time, she never checked how we were doing and if we wanted an after-dinner drink or coffee. What refine restaurant does that? To top it all, they refused to provide us with separate checks. So, our poor organizer, had to decipher who had what, how much, the tax and the 18% tip they demanded for a large group. Funny if they gave me my own check, they would have received my usual 20% had i had a better meal, with a small side salad, bread and butter. So simple for an expensive restaurant to make it right. We sat at the bar as we did one other time and received the worst service tonight. Not sure if a bar tender called out but the guy behind the bar was just overwhelmed. There was a women too but she wasn't always there. I'll start off by saying we sat down and after a few minutes the bartender said hello and took our drink order. After a good amount time he realized he forgot us and some what apologized. Luckily while the women came over to take our drink order, I managed to order Fried Mozzarella as aappetizer. Luckily I did it because our meals took quite along time to come out. The Fried Mozzarella & my wife's salad; Beets & Fennel were both truly delicious. As I mentioned the main orders took quite along time to come out. I honestly think the bartender forgot them. I got the Sirloin and it was very good. I had ask for the Onion Strings instead of potatoes but they came out cold. I asked the bartender for some new onion rings and when he brought them back some were literally burned... see photo. The staff is very pleasant and the ambiance cute. We came for brunch and were not very impressed. My omelet was way overcooked and completely browned all over. Browned eggs are not ok especially when it should be a delicate and still a bit wet inside when properly done. The mushrooms and onions inside the omelet were sautéd and very flavorful. The home fries seemed like they were frozen potatoes and quite greasy. My son got the breakfast burrito and felt the eggs were cooked to a burnt state as my omelet was and the bacon so overdone it tasted burnt. He didn't eat half of it. The coffee was a typical diner coffee. Not what I'd expect at a bit more upscale of a location and I did ask about I before ordering and was told it was a very good coffee. Maybe it was whoever the cook was this morning and maybe their dinner service is much better as I have not had dinner there. If you are in the area there are far better breakfast options within 15-20 mins like Daybreaks in Plainfield. read more

We had a fantastic experience - food, service, atmosphere were all top notch. We sat in the dining room, which was super cozy, but the bar room was also really inviting. Our server, Ben, had the whole room, but he handled it with apparent ease and grace and was very attentive, professional, and kind. The food was delicious (none of ordered steak, so can't speak to that) - the beet fennel salad was amazing. Prices very reasonable, portions ample. During our meal, there was a medical emergency with a customer who was leaving, but the staff handled it so well that our dining experience wasn't impacted at all, and the customer is ok! Our family has only been going to Grill37 for about a year now. We love Saturday nites and Sunday mornings! Every time we seem to get the best server. First comes the warm flat breadsticks with the dipping oil. What a way to start a meal! For our appetizer, we tried the lobster Rangoon. And they were delicious. We had a table of 5 and we all ordered a different entree. The meals were all amazing. I personally ordered the creamy garlic risotto with tender chicken breast. I'm looking forward to my leftovers for lunch today! Then came the carrot cake and the creme brulee. I'm glad "Sarah" knew enough to bring the extra utensils! Was wonderful! We love Grill37! Food was ok. When the bill came we were charged an extra $10 for using a credit card. Granted it was only $10 but we weren't told before hand that we would be charged this. There was nothing we could do. It wasn't written down anywhere that these charges exist. Seems really sketchy and maybe illegal. Won't go back. read more

Grill 37 has been on my list of restaurants to try for a long time. So we finally decided to give it a try when we were recently invited by someone else who wanted to try it. We arrived and the outside was beautiful with lots of landscaping, flowers and decorated for fall. We went inside and it was very tastefully decorated and charming. I was immediately thinking 'this might be our new go-to favorite restaurant'. There is lots of windows with pretty views and there was someone playing the keyboard while a man accompanied him singing. The music was in the lounge area and carried over into the dining room so it wasn't too loud at all. We made our selections. I ordered 'Tips Montreal ' and my partner ordered the 'rib eye'. When our food arrived the vegetable of the day was cabbage. Shredded cabbage that was browned (actually kind of blackened) in a pan or on a grill. DRY cabbage, no butter or oil of any kind. I never heard of such a thing and it wasn't good at all. I ordered my 'tips montreal' medium rare and they were burnt. Like that awful burnt flavor, and they were in this horrible thick gravy. My partners rib eye was cooked to his liking, but they completely covered it in that horrible thick gravy that was on my tips. I don't understand why you would cover a good steak up with sauce. We were under the impression it was to cover up the quality of the food. We would have sent everything back if we weren't a guest of someone we were with. I gave it 2 stars for a ambiance and service. read more
